THE BUILDING INSPECTOR OF AMERICA

We called on a Saturday afternoon feeling desperate to get a home inspection by the end of the weekend, so that we could make an offer on Monday morning. The manager of the company worked hard to find one of his inspectors who would be available that weekend. Charlie came out late Sunday afternoon. Charlie spent the better part of six hours inspecting every corner of the house. The breadth of his knowledge was incredible. He walked me through every point of inspection and explained to me the problems he spotted in simple detail. We discussed what I could likely repair on my own and what I would likely need to hire a contractor to repair. He was incredibly friendly and professional. The written report we received had clear instructions and pictures of problem areas to address. I'm using the inspection report as my bible to figure out which contractors to hire and what estimates to seek.

These guys are absolutely terrific. As a first-time homebuyer purchasing a 125 year old home, I was rather anxious about the home inspection process. I received a few referrals from my real estate agent that ended up having horrible reviews, but Home Inspectors of America put me at ease from the start. I spoke to Vimal on the phone who walked me through the me through the entire process outlining what I could expect at every stage. They sent me a sample home inspection report that showed what I would receive as part of the inspection. I couldn't have expected how great Ron Meely who actually did the inspection would be, however. From the start, he not only pointed out issues but additionally gave me tons of history about the type of home, architectural details, the quality of upgrades that had been performed etc. The inspection itself was extensive. Ron tested every outlet, plumbing fixture, and appliance as well as spending copious time inspecting the basement and attic. He takes pictures along the way which are included in the report you receive (the same day!). I walked away even more pleased with my purchase, as I felt confident that any potential problems had been identified by the inspection. Couldn't be more pleased...

Background: My 9 year old townhouse showed several signs of what might appear to have been foundation issues such as multiple nail pops, several large drywall cracks and occasional creaking/popping sounds from the wall. I initially called JES Works (foundation contractor who advertised free foundation inspection) to inspect the foundation. The JES representative who came out performed an inspection, and following the inspection, he informed me that the foundation has settled in the lower rear of the house by about one inch or more and that the foundation would require repairs. With this information, I contacted the builder of the townhouse and requested an assessment of the foundation issue. The builder's project manager performed an inspection and concluded the one inch misalignment was within normal parameters. With this conflicting information, I decided to contact an independant impartial third party inspector. I searched for the best inspector in my neighborhood in Angies' List and found the Building Inspectors of America. The inspection: I contacted The Building Inspector of America and informed the representative Carol of my issues. She was very polite, asked all the relevant questions, scheduled a convenient date for an inspection with Vimal Kapoor, and provided an email confirmation. The email contained a resume of the inspector. Knowing that Mr. Kapoor had an engineering degree build my confidence in the inspector. Mr. Kapoor arrived on time and was very polite and extremely professional. He first documented the reasons for the inspection and the problems I have seen before he started the inspection. Next he proceeded with the inspection, first with the exterior and later moving onto the interior of the house. Mr. Kapoor meticulously went over every inch of the house looking for signs of possible foundation damage. All throughout the inspection process Mr. Kapoor kept me in the loop and explained in very understandable terms the problems he is evaluating. After what I thought was a more than thorought evaluation of my possible foundation issues, he proceeded to address whatever general questions I had concerning the house that was unrelated to the foundation. Mr. Kapoor was very accomodating in addressing whatever questions I posed, and he was very thorough in his explanation, including providing diagrams for easier understanding. In the end Mr. Kapoor explained why under the totality of the evidence obtained from the inspection that he is certain there is no unusual foundation issues. My thoughts: What a positive relief! The inspector's advice saved me time, grief and even money of not having to spend money on unnecessary foundation repairs. I heartily recommend the services of The Building Inspectors of America, especially Mr. Kapoor and would not hesitate to use him again in the future.

As a first time homebuyer, I was naturally apprehensive about the process, and as my wife will tell you, I'm a worst-case scenario guy by my nature. As such, I went looking for the most thorough, professional home inspector I could find, and I got it with Mr. Vimal Kapoor and the building inspector of America. On just a few days notice, we were able to schedule a home inspection, mold, and radon test for the home we were purchasing. Vimal Kapoor. Our inspector, showed up promptly for our appointment, had his equipment in good order, and took the time before starting the inspection to ask us about any particular concerns we had with the house (I was worried about the basement). Vimal took the time to explain every step of the process, what he was looking for/looking at, and when he found deficiencies, would explain the nature of the deficiency and put it in lay person's terms as to its seriousness. His explanations were so detailed that it was more like sitting in class listening to a professor than a home inspector. He also made sure to examine everything as deeply as possible, including getting up into tight places in the home to look for problems. He was also able to return our radon and mold results to us in quick order to ensure we made our inspection contingency deadline. Suffice to say, after his inspection, I feel much more confident in the purchase I am making, and can't say enough good things about him. While I did find his services to be a little on the higher priced end of the inspectors I looked at, it wasn't by much, and you definitely get the quality that you're paying for. With such a large investment, I felt the moderate additional cost was well worth it to put my mind at ease. I would recommend his services to friends or family purchasing a home in the area.

I can't say enough good things about this company. They were very professional and timely in their response to our request for inspection. From dispatch to report, everything went very smoothly. Our inspector, Kapoor, is an active teacher of this profession so he has extensive knowledge of homes and knows what to look for. He made me feel comfortable and provided as much detail as I requested.

The home inspector showed up on time and was very professional and courteous. He managed to find issues that might have been overlooked by the typical homeowner and provided recommendations to correct the problem.

Vimal was polite, professional and thorough. He examined every element of the interior and exterior of the 1936 home we are considering buying. He took the time to explain all his findings and make sure I understood. He was courteous and patient... and knowledgeable. I would definitely hire him again.

My experience with Building Inspectors of America and Mr. Kapoor was overwhelmingly positive. Though his services were very much in demand, he made time to come to our site in short order. In a preview of things to come, he patiently answered my many questions about specific technologies that could be used on the inspection. Indeed, he advised me against using a technology that would have made him a significant amount of money. It was good advice. I arrived early at the home. During my conversation with my agent in which I described Mr. Kapoor?s credentials, my agent began to wonder hopefully whether he was the same teacher she had the year prior in a class for her ongoing educational requirement. She spoke about how knowledgeable he was and how it would be instructive to watch him conduct an actual inspection. It was indeed him. Along for the inspection was a close friend who is well-studied and experienced in the area of home inspections and repairs. He was also impressed with Mr. Kapoor. During the inspection, Mr. Kapoor was thorough and patient, answering a steady barrage of questions with respect and clarity. Without putting dollar figures of problems he found, he gave a good indication of the level of the concern that was warranted. Without that, we might have felt overwhelmed. He told the story of what was happening with a major drainage problem on the property, tying together seemingly disparate pieces of evidence. That clarification was crucial for my wife and me. The inspection lasted over 4 hours if memory serves. After the inspection, the report came quickly. It was thorough and clear. We used the information contained therein to estimate the repairs that would be needed on the house. I will employ Mr. Kapoor again and would unhesitatingly encourage others to do the same.

I had submitting an offer on a small apartment to purchase and hired them to do the home inspection. He was excellent. This gentleman was quick, very thorough, very detailed, and even took pictures for me. I appreciated that he took it serious even though it was such a small apartment.

Some back ground on Vimal: He is an engineer, an architect, and a home inspector. Apparently, he teaches classes on building sciences to all the other home inspectors. His attention to detail is unmatched and his expertise is undeniable. Going through a home inspection with Vimal can be a sobering experience and you may not always like what he has to say but at least you will know what you are getting yourself into if you decide to purchase a home. After our home inspection we began negotiations with the seller an Vimal made time for follow up calls with us for no charge. He is amazing at what he does and his passion for it shines through in his work. Vimal is what I would call a trusted adviser. While he is more expensive than most home inspectors your money is well spent with him. Also, make sure you line him up early as demand for his services is through the roof. In short, I will never use another building inspector again. Vimal is it.

First, as I used Angie's List to find a quality inspector, I came across this company. Their ratings were great. I called them plus a couple of other companies at 8am late last week to set up a date. They were the only company operating before 8:30, and thus won my business. I received an email confirmation with all the details too. Paul came to inspect the house more than 15 minutes early. When I pulled up, he was already on his ladder taking photos. The inspection lasted a full three hours. Paul was patient and took his time to check EVERYTHING. I could tell right away he knew his craft. I could tell the seller's agent was a little frustrated that the inspection took three hours, but she isn't going to be living there :) Paul gave good feedback and answered my questions as we progressed. The 33 page PDF report with photos and recommendations has been a big help. We received the report a day after the inspection. I HIGHLY recommend you use the Building Inspectors of America for your house inspection!

I used Building Inspectors of America for Home Inspection and Radon Testing when I purchased my home. I spoke to Mr. Kapoor and he himself visited to my place twice to perform these services. On first visit, he installed the Radon equipments in the basement and couple of days later he did the home inspection. He was very professional, honest and very thorough. It took him about 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete the inspection and he looked at the every possible area of the house that I did not even think about it. He took pictures of what is good/bad/marginal and put them in his detailed report. His report was very detailed and he identified every single item that needed repair with arrows. I am very satisfied with job done and would definitely hire them again or recommend "Building Inspectors of America" to anyone looking for these services.

Paul Wehrli came to our home to do a home inspection on our newly-built home. He was punctual and arrived ready to go. He spent five hours carefully inspecting every aspect of our new home, giving it a very thorough inspection. He took time to show us aspects of our new home and to provide us with insight. He did not try to rush through or hurry along, but was genuinely concerned with making sure he covered everything. He spent five hours inspecting our new 5K+sq. ft. home. We appreciate all that he did and would call on him again. I felt it was money well spent for the level of service provided.

Paul came when promised (he was actually early) and spent a long time checking the inside and outside of the house. He explained things to us very clearly. My only complaint is not the fault of the company, but I just forgot to use the Angie's List coupon!!

Everything went great. Paul showed up early and started the foundation inspection before we got there. When we arrived, he took us through the area and pointed out what he was looking for/inspecting and what everything meant. We got a lot of information out of it. He also identified a potential problem area which ended up uncovering some other unknown items for us (which was good!).

Highly recommended!!! We found Mr. Kapoor on Angie's list and we are so glad we did! He has extensive experience and is very detailed and thorough. We scheduled a home inspection with him on a very short notice. He did a rigorous inspection that lasted four and a half hours. Great and informative, he told me about alot of stuff that I didn' t think to look for. Very knowledgeable.

Mr. Kapoor is extremely knowledgable and responsible. He came on time or even a few mins early. He examed the house thoroughly and generated a very detailed reports with detailed comments and pictures. We are extremely happy with his service and professionalism. He is a person with high integrity and honesty. We feel grateful to have him to inspect the house and find all the major problems right on spot. Thank you, Mr. Kapoor! We will have you again if we need another home purchase inspection for sure!

It all went very well. Mr. Kapoor was on time to our appointment. He nearly spent 5 hours inspecting our house. He was detailed oriented, and caught many issues with the home. He was very thorough. He was able to answer all my questions. He was also very kind in providing recommendations for some of the issues. I would highly recommend him.

Ron Meely did a thorough home inspection for us. He told us the good and the bad news. He was very professional and taught us a lot about the house during the inspection. He was prompt for the appointment and very quick to get the report back to us. The report was easy to read and understand. We would definitely recommend Mr. Meely and would certainly use him again.

Vimal Kapoor with "The Building Inspector of America" did our home inspection. This is our first home purchase and we were extremely nervous about the entire process. However, Vimal was amazing. He spent 4 hours with us as he patiently explained and tested everything in the house. We paid extra for the radon test, which gave us peace of mind. In addition, we got our home inspection report back within 2 days. We couldn't have asked for more. If this is your first home purchase or if you want a trust-worthy home inspector, we highly recommend this company.

Paul Wehrli did a very detailed inspection of our future 2400sq ft single house. 1. Explained all the risks and issues. 2. Pointed out a very expensive problem with a falling long retaining wall on the plat, that he didn't even have to inspect as it is not connected to the house. 3. Was onsite early and already doing the roof inspection. 4. Great personality and willingness to help us where we needed. When you're making your biggest purchase, you need someone who cares on your side. This company have quality and discipline. Now i have confidence I'm buying a good house.

got there at 9 am. no sign of anyone. called carole back... few minutes later i see a tall guy in the backyard. Paul had gotten there before the appt time and started already. i felt horrible about calling carole. it wasn't so much the inspection for me, but the inspector himself. the way he was looking out for me and not the realtor. the attention to detail that he was giving and most important how he was educating me about what to look for and how to differentiate. i felt i was annoying him with my million questions but he would take his time explaining everything. then he sends me a thorough 30 page report in 24 hours with pictures and life expectancy of different items and saved me from making a huge mistake on a "beautiful" house that we had found. i felt very comfortable speaking to him, had no problem trusting him and i thank him for being the only person in the whole process that looked out for my interest and not the actual sale of the property. anyone needing an inspection should have very strong reasons for not choosing Paul, other than that Paul is my inspector for life.

Mr. Kapoor was very professional and answered questions I had even prior to choosing him to do our home inspection. His assistant Carol was very helpful and easy to schedule with when we went forward with the inspection. Mr. Kapoor was very thorough during the inspection. We felt very comfortable with his expertise and trusted his opinions on which things were in serious need of repair and those that we less important. He took into account our family and personal concerns when addressing these issues. He was also very sensitive to environmental issues as well. He went over the report details with us the next day very well so we understood everything. I was very impressed with the entire experience and would recommend him highly!
