Excellent overall experience with Kemp. Informative introduction, efficient scheduling, setting expectation at arrival (on time). Greg’s experience was evident as he observed and identified structural issues at a property I look after for a friend. Clear and concise explanations but at a level I could follow. Highly recommend.

Greg came out on short notice to perform a structural inspection of our soon-to-be home, which has cracks visible in its brick exterior. After thoroughly examining the outside and inside of the house, he provided a detailed explanation of the likely cause of the cracks. He also offered additional observations about parts of the structure that could use repairs or reinforcement. He followed up on the same day with a detailed written report. Would recommend to anyone who needs a home inspection, especially if there are concerns about the foundation or other structural issues.

Greg, the structural engineer was very professional. He was on time for the appointment and inspected our bathroom site where we were doing expansion and remodeling. He quickly understood the structural issue and provided very valuable expert recommendations to take care of the problem. His recommendations were simple enough that my contractor could handle. We followed through his recommendations and Greg provided support through out the entire process and answered all my questions promptly and with patience. His charges were very reasonable and there is a partial refund if there is no need for a written report. Overall, Greg was excellent and I will be happy to use his services in future and recommend to friends and colleagues

Greg is a structural Engineer, professional engineer, PE, he inspected some areas in our home that were of concern, and determined that they were not structural problems. During the inspection we walked around the home together as he explained the issues and answered questions. He was very pleasant. He informed me of the remedies which turned out to be simple. I now have a peace of mind. I opted to get a written report, which was delivered promptly. He is available for questions or any further clarifications. Melodie at the office is very responsive and respectful of your preferred means of communication.

We reached out to Kemp Home Inspections after a month of moving in to our new home. We noticed various issues with the house, from minor cracks, to un-level floors. For confirmation that we didn't have a major structural issue on our hands, we had Greg come out and do an extremely through inspection of the house to rule out any major issues. He was on time, and happily answered my questions. I'd definitely recommend Kemp for anyone needed an honest inspection or assessment.

I reached out to Kemp Home Inspections for a 3rd opinion on the cause for exterior brick and mortar cracks on my 1941 colonial in Arlington. I'm a single female homeowner with no technical background. One structural engineer said lintel failure; a 2nd said serious foundation concerns that would be costly to repair. Greg came out after reviewing the first engineer's report, talked with me for about 10-15 minutes, explained his process, then spent the better part of an hour taking measurements and photos of the inside and outside of my house and attic. When he was done, he explained his findings to me and the basis for his conclusions (happily, no foundation issues). He identified areas of potential concern and what I could do to monitor them over time. His comments and subsequent report reassured me that my house is actually in pretty good shape. Greg saved me tens of thousands of dollars! He is prompt, friendly, and professional and his office staff are the same as well. If you are in need of a home inspection, you will not go wrong to hire Kemp.

We hired Greg Kemp before purchasing an older (part is 1850-ish) farm house on land in Frederick County, MD. He agreed to come on short notice on a holiday weekend because time limits were tight. We received cost estimates in advance, signed a thorough contract, and were very happy that the inspection would be finished timely. Our agreement was for an inspection report, a termite inspection, a more thorough roof inspection, and a structural/engineering report. He was one of very few people who had the engineering qualifications we were looking for, since there was an old stone foundation we particularly wanted examined. Mr. Kemp arrived a bit early and spent more than four hours, even including a barn in the process. Due to Covid procedures, we were not allowed to accompany him inside the house or basement, but he did call us in individually to point out some important issues. He communicated with us briefly during the inspections, but spent more time at the end telling us some of his findings. We received all reports via email by the end of the following day, including recommendations based on Condition of many separate parts of the house interior and exterior, with pictures, well organized and very useful for first making our decision to purchase and then prioritizing future maintenance and repairs needed. I highly recommend Kemp Home Inspections, LLC, and would happily contract with them again, since they provide additional services which we may need in the future. And, if you enjoy a very understated subtle sense of humor, this is definitely your person.

It went great. The engineer came within a couple days of my request. She was professional, personable, and took her time with the inspection. She answered questions that I had and walked with me through the house to show me the problems she found. She explained the situation in a way that I could understand. Likewise, she submitted her reported within a day and a half of the inspection and it was in language that I could understand. Her inspection and report assisted me greatly in the selection of a company to perform work on my home and to feel more confident in my selection. I will have the same engineer do a follow-up inspection after the work is completed. I highly recommend Kemp Home Inspections.

I called Kemp Home Inspections for an evaluation of the crawlspace under my home built in 1932. Jill, structural engineer, arrived on time for the evaluation and reduced my anxiety by explaining how the inspection process would work. She inspected the living space first to look for any indications of structural problems; using laser technology to detect any slopes in the floors. She inspected around the perimeter of the house and then went into the crawlspace. She was very thorough and the entire process took 3 hours. Jill went over all of her findings with me and explained possible remediations. I received her report a few days later. It was excellent- clear and easy to understand. Jill was very knowledgeable and personable and I really enjoyed interacting with her. I highly recommend her!!!

The engineer--Jill--arrived promptly and after getting a quick history went right to work. She was very thorough, spending about 2 ½ hours, only interrupted to answer my questions. She made sure I understood the issues and the possible solutions. The report arrived in 24 hours, reflected the thoroughness of her inspection, and was written for the client to easily understand its contents. Hiring this company to inspect our pavilion and deck was the best decision we made. Will definitely use this company again and highly recommend them.

Greg, our inspector and the owner of the company did a great job for us. We had some concerns with some settlement cracks in our home that we've lived in for a number of years now. He came out as scheduled and right on time, which I always appreciate. He explained the process and what the outcomes would be. In our case there weren't any serious issues and we now have the engineering report to substantiate that. This was all good news for us as we are looking to do some home improvements in the near future. As an added bonus Greg found a pipe leaking while doing his inspection. He even was able to use his thermal camera to help identify where the leak was coming from. We had a struggle finding someone to get this work done and could not be happier with the work. Greg was very pleasant, professional and knowledgable. He did a thorough inspection of my house based on a significant sloping floor issue I have on the first and second floors. He too the time to explained what he was doing throughout the inspection. He gave me a couple of suggestions and sent me a detailed report following his visit. Working with Greg Kemp and Kemp Home Inspections was fantastic. We are selling our home, and the buyer's home inspector noticed some cracks on our foundation. Of course, everyone (including me) freaked out. We hired Greg to come do a structural inspection because he is a certified professional engineer. I had some foundation contractors come out before Greg and of course they all told me the house needed over $50k in work done (despite being a fairly new house), clearly just trying to sell me the most expensive solutions in their arsenal. Greg came and literally saved the day. He did a thorough inspection inside and outside the home. He checked every inch of the foundation, and discovered there were no big issues that would cost us a fortune. Greg talked me through what he was doing, what was what on the foundation, and potential solutions. He emailed me a formal report the same night that we were able to pass onto our buyers. We were prepared for bad news, but I'm glad Greg didn't have to give us (or the buyers) any. Greg was an all-around nice guy to chat with and had a lot of information to offer. I was able to schedule the appointment fairly quickly, with no hassle. I will definitely recommend him for all of our (and anyone else's) home inspection needs in the future, not just engineering related.

Greg was excellent! He took plenty of time to answer our questions as he did his walk through. He provided a full report with his findings, as well as the severity of the findings, within 24 hours of the inspection. The report was easy to understand and included pictures, where applicable. We already knew the house would need some work and Greg helped talk us through what projects appeared to need attention sooner rather than later. He was very friendly and professional. We've already recommended Greg to friends who are looking to buy a home in the area as well. His background in structural engineering was also appealing to us since we purchased an older home and wanted to make sure it was structurally sound.

Greg is fantastic. I called Kemp Home Inspections an hour before they opened and not only did they answer, but they got me an appointment the same day for a rush pre-offer inspection. Heather and Greg were extremely responsive via text, phone, and email. Greg's inspection was systematic and thorough. He invited us to follow along so we could ask questions and he could explain things as we went. He took his time and answered all of our questions. He is also an engineer which was handy as the house we are buying is over 100 years old. He offers a whole spectrum of inspections; which we took advantage of. If I could give Kemp Home Inspections more than five stars, I would! We will never use another inspector.

He arrived 5 mins ahead of time at house. He performed courteous, knowledgeable, professional service. Took off shoes in the house, climbed up the attic, and walked the roof. After observing signs of mold next to a bathroom vent, he performed mold testing at my request. Not pushing any additional services. Final product was a thorough report. I felt it was worth the extra he charges compared to competitors and that he has additional structural engineering knowledge.

The house was in a very nice neighborhood, on a great lot, and in a very good school district. The additions and settling prompted me to hire an inspector who was also a structural engineer. He found enough problems that we backed out of the deal. Kemp is thorough without being ticky tacky and knows his business. He charges more than most other inspectors, but if you want to be more confident that you know the potential problems with a house, particularly structural problems, he is worth it.

Greg is knowledgeable. He knows houses very well, as well as structural engineering issues. He shows up on time, works quickly and accurately, provides timely reports, and has reasonable prices.
