Don Hoffacker’s Air Conditioning & Heating

AC was not cooling. Called at 7:32am tech arrived at 8:32AM !!! He found a burnt wire and repaired it. He then checked the unit for cooling, voltage, current, temperature and Freon levels. All OK. He was very professional and courteous. I highly recommend them.

They seem to know what they are doing and they're on time. I had no complaints. They were recommended them to me. They're the only company we've used.

It went very well. Mike S, the lead technician, and Adam, installed the heat pump with precision and were very neat, both inside and outside of my home. They were professional and meticulous in their work.

We have had a service contract with Hoffacker's since we bought our house in 2001. In September 2014, the air conditioner stopped working, and Hoffacker's diagnosed a coolant leak in the main unit which meant the dreaded time had come to replace the whole system (19 years old). We preferred to stick with Hoffacker's since they are the company we know, but with such a huge purchase, we felt like we needed to do our homework, researching different systems and reading reviews on Angie's List. We were very happy to read that Hoffacker's had superb ratings for HVAC replacement, including on pricing. Several reviewers had even gone with Hoffacker's over other companies that they had long-time service contacts with. During the estimate visit, the technician explained all of the various options and pricing, with no pressure. On the day of installation, Scott, Phillip, Rob and Dave arrived exactly when promised and completed the large project by early afternoon, demonstrating the utmost in professionalism. The old system was removed and hauled away, and a new Bryant two-stage AC and gas furnace with whole house humidifier were added. In addition, the old hot water heater was replaced with a new 75-gallon Bradford White heater. The technician took the time to explain the system, including how to use the complex wi-fi thermostat. If you need a new HVAC system, you don't need to look anywhere else!

Excellent company to do business with. My heat stopped on one of the coldest days of the year - over a weekend. They came out three days in a row (once in the snow) to fix it. It was not fixable. They showed up with a new system the next day. Installed it quickly and efficiently. I recommend them highly. Family business, nice people to work with.

Their services were excellent, very professional and quick. The great thing is that the new heat-pump and hot-water-heater have not needed to be repaired in all the many years since they installed them. This is very rare and great, from my experiences with purchasing other large machines!

Very pleased with the entire installation process. The installers came in and immediately began to work until the job was finished. Any debris/trash was cleared up when they left. The lead installer took the time to ensure that I understood the operation of the heater and the humidifier. Job well done!

Some years ago Don Hoffacker's Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc. installed a new HVAC system for us. On January 8, 2015 we had the company come out to fix the non-functioning unit. The technician told me that he didn't have the part because it was too expensive to keep on hand and that he would order it. When my wife called the office the next moirning to inquire about the availability of the part, she was treated rudely by the secretary, who told my wife that she didn't "have a crystal ball" to know when the part whould be available. She also told her that the part is normally carried on the trucks but the technicians ran out of it and had to order it,. The part came in that morning and was installed, I asked for the old part and the box that the new part came in, but the technician refused to leave either one. I thought this strange because automobile parts must be given to the customer after replacement. I was concerned about the price of the motor module, which I looked up online and found it on multiple sources for $319.99, compared to the $688 I was charged on the invoice. I called the office and spoke to someone identifying herself as the owner, Angie Hoffacker, I was explaining my concern about the charge for the motor module when she became incessantly loud and overpowering, talking over me. As she became increasingly agitated and angry, she resorted to discourteous and abusive language saying, "When your wife started giving my secretary sh?t ,?". I hung up, seeing futile attempting to converse with such an abusive individual. I believe noteworthy was her comment that she was not concerned about my sharing my experience on Angie's List because of her numerous good reviews, according to her. In summary, the service and treatment from the technicians was satisfactory. However, the unwillingness of the owner to engage in a polite conversation to effectively explain it to my satisfaction and her abusive language as well as the office staff's rudeness leads me to characterize the overall experience as negative and distasteful.

The new coil was too small, so, they had to made an alternation to duct system to install it. Otherwise it went smoothly.

The technician arrived a little early, which was fine. I would appreciate a phone call ahead, because I have two dogs, but I neglected to ask for that. Todd was extremely helpful with advice about my heat distribution issue. He adjusted some flow direction/amount and changed my air filter. He checked all the components of the furnace and noted what he did clearly on the receipt. He took the time to explain some things I didn't realize about my venting system. I was very happy with Todd and the service call. I will definitely recommend Hoffacker's and use them in the Spring for an AC checkup.

The technician stopped by at 8 am and had our system back up and running by 9. There was a wire that looked like the end had burnt off that he had to replace. I was very impressed with the repairman's ability to diagnose and fix the problem quickly. I considered accepting the quote he provided for replacing the system, but decided to go with a different vendor that could supply Bryant products.

My very old air conditioner stopped working this summer and I honestly expected to be told to replace it. I used Don Hoffacker's previously for an opinion on my gas furnace (which is also old) and was impressed by the honesty of the technician. Therefore, I called Don's again for my AC problem. Again, the technician was very professional, friendly, and thorough. Because I do not know anything about AC repair, I could easily have been told to replace my unit. Instead, the technician diagnosed that the capacitor needed to be replaced. This saved me thousands! When I need to replace either my furnace or AC, I will call Don Hoffacker's. They are trustworthy, prompt, and I like supporting a family-owned business.

Contacted Don Hoffacker's for an annual furnace check up. Carl arrived on time and gave the system a thorough going over. He found that a capacitor that provides power to the fan motor was failing. He recommended replacement and I agreed. He had the part in his truck and swapped it in quickly. He also found a noisy inducer, but said this part did not need to be replaced if the noise did not bother me (it didn't). This would have been a more expensive repair, so I appreciated his honesty. The cost for the service call was $99 and the cost for the part was $111. Total cost was $210, which seemed reasonable as these things go.

The replacement went well. The team showed up on time and in uniform, they were very professional. They put down drop cloths and got straight to work. The new system works great! They left the house looking better than when they got there. The job took less time than expected. I have been a Don Hoffacker customer for years and I trust them and the quality of their work. There are two things that stood out about this service. 1) During the bidding process everyone I spoke with was very knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions. 2) When I pressured them on price they budged a little, but refused to compromise quality by installing lower grade units and I respected that.

The receptionist was friendly and polite, not getting upset when I pressured them about when the technician was arriving (they arrived within their stated time frame. Gene was thorough, and explained to me how our heating/A/C unit works. He was honest and patient. The visit was about an hour, which I thought would be much more. The reason I put "B" under costs is because another visit in 2012, to replace an electrical board, cost about $700, which was not cheap but was not alarming. I am fine paying reasonable prices for great customer service. Highly recommend Don Hoffacker's.

When I was told by the service guy that my main board to the AC unit was bad, I asked how much would it cost. He stated that it would be very costly. He went out to his van to get the part - I guess they carry extra main board. When he came back in I asked for the name and model so that I could look it up on the internet. He became very rude and stated "are you serious"! I was definitely taken back by how he was speaking to me. I looked up the part and it was only $115. I asked him why Hoffacker's was charging so much. He then said again "are you serious!" He then called the office to tell them he was ending the service call. I was shocked. Just because I challenged the price, he is going to end the service call! I then call the main office about what had happened and the woman on the other line took the stance that "the service guy does not set the prices" - again I was absolutely taken back by the attitude these folks had just because I challenged the amount they were charging. In the end, I hired another contractor who was amazing and charged me way less. Beware of how much Hoffacker's charges!!

After getting a discounted maintenance service through another company, they gave me the distressing news that my furnace had a crack in the heat exchanger and that me and my family were at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. I called Don Hoffacker's to get one of their trustworthy technicians (Henry) to give me a second opinion. He did a thorough inspection of the heat exchanger, more so than the other company, and found that what the other technician showed me was a scratch not a crack. He also showed me where the heat exchanger was wearing down due to age, but nothing to be concerned about. While he was there he did an adjustment to stop the screeching sound the furnace made and start up and another adjustment to stop the rattling caused by too much air intake. I trust this company and would highly recommend it.

The furnace checked out fine and we have a service agreement with them. The problem with the fan was discovered, the part was ordered and it will be installed Wednesday. The part is covered under warranty so we pay for labor and shipping only.

He spent quite a while assessing the situation and was on the 2nd job. He was punctual and professional and very reasonable.

Technicians were on time, performed very well to excellent and cleaned when installation was complete. Crew was courteous and friendly.

The service man arrived on time. He was very pleasant. He told me what he thought the problem would be and went into the basement to start working. He returned a short time later to tell me what needed to be done and the cost. He had the parts in his truck. He unclogged the drain and installed the new pump. He inspected the air conditioning system and the furnace and replaced filters. He was so quiet I hardly knew he was in the house. Once the work was complete, he explained what he had done and we reviewed the bill. I was very pleased with the service. The water is no longer leaking onto the floor.

We received three estimates. Hoffacker's was significantly lower than all the others but provided the best warranty and service. There are no sales people so an installer provided the quote. He did not try to sell me unnecessary items like the commissioned sales guys. The installation went smoothly and the workers were very professional. We have had the system for two weeks and all is working well.

I have used the company for over 30 years and have been totally satisfied.

During the past winter, one of our HVAC units had water dripping inside the unit when the heat came on and over the course of a day or two, the pan would eventually be pretty full with water. I looked on the internet to find potential causes and the evidence pointed to a clogged pipe from the condenser coil area but I thought it best to contact a professional out of fear that I might make matters worse by tinkering. I searched Angie's and called two highly rated companies near my home. The fee that Don's charged just to come out to the house (~$105 i believe) was slightly more than the competition, but they offered an Angie's coupon that enticed me to go with them. John from Don Hoffacker's was scheduled to come between 2-4p and he arrived at the early end of the time window. I explained the issue and he figured out the cause of the leaking after trying a few things. He cleared the clog and cleaned out the water in the pan. I feared that the service would end up costing a few hundred dollars but he only charged the visitation fee plus a bit extra for the time minus the coupon. Overall, I found John to be honest and skilled and I wouldn't hesitate to use Don's again if I have any HVAC issues in the future.

The installation went very smoothly. My wife and I were very pleased.
