Don Hoffacker’s Air Conditioning & Heating

In August 2011 I had someone come to give me a quote. He wrote up a detailed proposal, and quoted $780. We didn't have the money until recently (Nov. 2012) to get it done. They had to have someone come and give a new proposal because the other one was old. When he guy came, he came up with a whole new proposal, which was different from the previous proposal. This was partly my fault in that I wasn't home when the new proposal was written (only my husband was home, and he had not been present during the first proposal), therefore the proposal was different than the original proposal (one vent, versus the two vents I had wanted). I easily made the corrections on the proposal, and they came on 11/2/12 to complete the work for the same $780. When I was able to review the original proposal with them, so they could understand the work I wanted to have done, it went smoothly with no hitch. Took a total of 1.5 hours. I'm pleased with the project.

We bought our house in May 2010 and our furnace died in November, at the first really cold snap. I called multiple places for service, but Hoffacker's was the only one who could respond same day. The system was so old and the service would have cost several hundred dollars, so we decided to replace it, something we had been hoping to put off for a couple of years. Their price was excellent, their service was excellent. They gave me options on the systems, including how to qualify for the energy-efficiency rebate. They got back to replace the system as fast as it came in. My parents had used them for decades, too, which was part of the reason we went with them. I called later for help with the programmable thermostat, and they were very gracious and helpful, walking me through something over the phone I probably could've found in a manual somewhere. They returned in the spring to check/fine tune the A/C, which wasn't possible to do in the winter.

All went very well, they were here by 9:00 AM as promised and they got right to work. Three men and two trucks and estimated they'd finish by 12:00 to 12:30. Finished right on time so I could sit in on a teleconference. I think we choose the best of the bunch! Nothing shady, open and honest. A Joy to work with.

They have come out for service twice now for a routine cleaning and maintenance as well as a repair on the condenser drainage line. They arrived within the given window and were really quick and efficient going above and beyond with my repair to not only fixing the issue but performing an upgrade so it would not happen again. I will definitely use them in the future.

Fantastic. Don's initial person provided timely service and information. Don was then personally involved in the process once the geothermal option was selected. He located a well drilling company familiar with the area and made all necessary arrangements. The office was exceptional in keeping me informed of progress. The job took some time waiting for the drilling rig to be available but once it was all the various parts and trades were coordinated to expedite the installation and minimize the inconvenience. All providers on site were courteous, professional, and did all they could to minimize disturbance and damage to my house and property in what was a very ambitious project. The company coordinated all the permits and permissions and ensured I received all the rebates and incentives possible providing necessary paper work and guidance along the way. The end result exceeded all my expectations.

The end of last winter, the heater stopped working. I arranged for service and they came out for repair. The diagnosis was that the built-in humidifier had leaked onto the electrical controller board for the heater and shorted it out. He fixed the furnace and turned off the humidifier, saying that when I did my fall heater inspection, their repair technician would fix the humidifier. He told me that I was lucky; it was just a few hoses and wouldn't cost much. I arranged my fall inspection and was surprised when the technician arrived without the parts. He said he would perform the $89 inspection and figure out which parts I needed. He left, saying he would order the parts and come back when they were in. I received a voicemail from them the next day stating that I needed to purchase a new unit at $480. When I called back to inquire why, the company rep said it didn't make sense to order parts (the solenoid, hoses, etc.) It would cost more than simply getting a new unit, especially given the age of the unit. I don't know how he would know how old it was since he wasn't there, but it's less than 5 years old. I said I'd get back to him. After doing a little internet research, a brand new unit (exact same model) is $257. Installation would be easy as the same unit is already there. I took him at his word that we needed the hoses and the solenoid. We ordered the parts today for $87 (including shipping). I will never use this company again. I don't like feeling like I've been scammed into buying something I didn't need.

Air conditioner died over night. I called Hoffacker's first thing the next morning and they had a technician at the house within 3 hours. He was courteous, professional and diagnosed the problem quickly. He fixed the A/C within 30 minutes. He cleaned up the work site quite well. Very, very pleased.

I decided to call Don Hoffacker Heating and A/C because they installed my new air condition and heater in 2003. The person who answered when I called was bery concerned for me because I had by that time been with out hot water for almost 3 weeks and I am a senior citizen who lives by myself. They scheduled me for the next day and Tim came out and told me what needed to be done and gave me an estimate. He called to schedule me for the next morning and assured me that I would be taken care of. He was a real professional and just as nice and reassuring as could be. Sure enought - the nex moring the crew of five (Mike, Alex, Tim, Grian and Craig) showed up and every one of them were professional, kind and reassuring and said they would take care of my problem. They took care of the problem and made sure the furnace and hot water heater draft was working to allow the gas fumes to escape to the attic flue. They even told me of other problems I had that a roofer would need to repair. I would definitely refer them to anyone who has a problem with their heating or air conditioning. You can't imagine how much I respect and admire those guys and trust that they will do a top rate job.

We called on a Thursday after 5 thinking we wouldn't get a response until Friday but someone called us back Thursday night and a technician came out Friday morning. We were given a 2 hour window and the technician was punctual. He was thorough and we never felt like we were forced to pay for something we didn't need.

From the moment we called, we were made to feel very well taken care of. They were very responsive and we were able to get someone to come out the next day. The guy who came to our house was very friendly and respectful. He explained and showed us everything. He was very patient and answered the 1000 questions we had, even those that were not directly related to the job on-hand. He even insisted on taking his shoes off in our house-something most people neglect to do, especially when they've been out in the mud/dirt. He was the most professional serviceman we have had. He even gave us tips and tricks to help keep our house at a more consistent temperature between all of our levels (we have 3). He showed up on time and stayed until we were content. As for the actual replacing of our unit, those guys came on time and were very professional too. They were able to finish the job in a timely manner and even hauled away our old unit free of charge. Overall, I really enjoyed the service we got and would recommend these guys to anyone. They have fair prices and do quality work. We would definitely use them again.

He was wonderful. I believe his name was Harry. We have an old system, and he brought it back to life. He not only fixed the problem but also told us how to avoid it in the future. We needed the work done on a Saturday, and the call was taken in a professional manner. They also gave us same day service. We will certainly look to them when and if we need additional service or for our new system once it finally dies. For now we are holding cool and strong.

They came out and fixed the problem right away. I had some other questions and they came back out and explained everything to me. He spent about an hour. They are very reasonable. They didn't try to sell me anything and they recommended a contract be taken in October.

We have no complaints as detailed above. All went very well and we are thrilled with the work done.

The company was top-notch from start to finish. Sales Rep was patient and responsive to my needs and questions. Installation crew arrived on time, explained what they were going to do and then performed professionally.

What a thorough professional! I will definitely be calling him if/when I need hvac service again. His explanations were perfectly clear. He also advised me on a better-sized filter to use, so that it will be easier for me to remove.Turns out that any filter will allow some dust to get by. When enough dust accumulates, the tray holding the filter doesn't drain properly if the little drain pipe gets clogged. In addition to having water dripping out of the edge of the tray, water also dripped down into the box at the bottom of the unit. Mr. Hoffacker drilled a hole into the bottom of it to drain it, showed me how to flush the drain pipe every year, and left me feeling confident that I can prevent this from happening again.He did more than he had to do. With the Angie's List coupon, I feel I got a very decent price for what I gained. The fact that he came to my house at last-minute notice is VERY appreciated!

We were fortunate enough to learn that that was the issue - we thought we may have to replace the whole unit. Mike was very nice and knowledgeable and quickly recognized the issue. He went right to work and made sure the issue was resolved. He took the time to describe to me what the capacitor is and why it had to be replaced. Thank you.

Karl was a bit late, but that's because he was hold up w another client. Hoffacker keep me posted on his arrival. Everything went well, no sales or service pushing, everything was done professionally and we were very satisfied w the work done.

The employee who came to give the estomate was exceptional, provided four options to meet my needs and gave thorough explanations for each option. However, the estimated time for installment was 4-6 hours but it took 9 hours, and they did not hook up the secondary drain even though the pipe was already there. This was caught by the company's inspector and required a second visit to complete the work.

Came back from vacation and found our house was 88 degrees inside. Air was blowing but the air wasn't cold. The company office opened at 8 am, we called around 8:20 am and an efficient person promptly scheduled a technician to come between 10 am and noon on the same day. The technician (Richard) arrived between the designated time period and within an hour had completed the work. He inspected the a/c unit and found and replaced a non-working capacitor. He gave helpful maintenance tips on not only the a/c unit but also the furnace/heater. House is cool again! We got a $20 discount for being Angie's list members. We'd recommend this company again.

They arrived promptly and completed the work as described. Tim was responsive to questions and went out of his way to help us.
