Don Hoffacker’s Air Conditioning & Heating

Replaced entire system. Crew was competent and the work was completed as promised. One day later the technician did a followup and checked the system. We are happy with the cost of and competence of the crew.

I had a great experience with this company who came out to service the furnaces in our new home. Mike was the technician who came out and he went above and beyond my expectations taking the time to educate me on my system as well as spent the time to discuss our options for replacing the thermostats in our home and alternative solutions for the broken electrostatic air filter. He was extremely accommodating and even discussed everything with my husband over the phone before leaving. I will definitely be using them again.

First, not all HVAC service providers work on weekends. It was super easy to schedule an HVAC inspection on a Saturday AM for the investment property we just bought. I was glad that I could also have an HVAC inspection done for my primary residence and scheduled it back-to-back. My request for a discount for doing two HVAC inspections was not met, but the thoroughness and professionalism by Todd made that a moot point. Todd was punctual, did a thorough job (didn't rush thru the inspection) and made his way around the crawl space (1st property). For my primary residence, he did a thorough job as well. He was concerned about a smell and potential carbon monoxide leakage, and wasn't sure his meter was working correctly, so he told me that he'd follow up (visit at no cost to me). He just left and did a complete and thorough job ensuring no CO emissions/leaks. He checked every possible way there might be CO gases (furnace, hot water heater, interior supply vent, exterior furnace vent)... to ensure we were safe. Don Hoffacker's was recommended to me by my boss who had an HVAC system put in earlier in the year and I can see why this company gets outstanding reviews on AngiesList.

Technician was prompt and courteous. He provided a detailed quote within a couple days. He responded to my questions and did not pressure me into using this company for the replacement.

They are punctual and they call us and let us know when they are coming. They are very good at what they do and explain what they are doing. They replaced our heating and air-conditioning about 5 years ago, they moved it to the side from the back. It is very efficient and we haven’t had any problem with it.

The installation was smooth, but we paid extra for a premium system and the air handler had the lower priced name on it. I questioned them and they said they were all the same. Be sure to verify everything before installation time.

Glen was such a pleasure to have come take care of our AC over the weekend. He was knowledgable, informative and quick. Very impressed and appreciative.

I was disappointed that the company did not provide service in my area. The advertisement on-line states that service is provided for Montgomery County. When I contacted the company, I was told that they DO NOT service all cities within the county.

The technician is knowledgeable. I was told before that the a/c and heat pumps that came from the townhouse builders were the lower grade and it would last about 10 years. I asked a similar question that came out last week and estimate the life span of the a/c. He said that they will keep it going as long as we can and each system is it's own so some last longer than others. They didn't seem like they were just trying to get me sold on a new system which saves me money in the long run.

On Friday, an HVAC Technician came to look at one of the air handlers in my house due to a leak. He checked everything and couldn't find the source of the leak. We noticed another puddle of water around the air handler unit that weekend and the same Tech came back out on Monday, looked a little closer and realized that the sump pump had a crack in it and that is where the water was coming from. He only charged us for the replacement part and not the standard visit price because he missed the crack on Friday. All told, he could have conceivably charged us for the pump and a visit in addition to the visit cost from Friday, which would have been over $400. Definitely seems to be a good company and any issues we have in the future revolving around our HVAC unit will go to Don Hoffacker.

The man was grumpy and immediately tried to sell us a new unit.

Our service was great from beginning to end. They were prompt and clean-up was good. They even provided a piece that we did not have to pay for. I would definitely use them again.

Doug came out and looked at the fallen tree limbs from the recent tornado, and immediately said let's focus on cleaning up the storm damage and take a look at the other trees next spring. I appreciated his honesty, and willingness to consider the hit my pocket book would take. Adirondack's bid was, by far, the lowest I received, mostly because he did not propose to cut down the trees, but to cut off the branches most at risk of breaking off in a storm. The crew arrived on time and was done and gone before I could get home. The work was great, all of the fallen limbs and leaves were gone from the backyard, and the tree in the front was trimmed--maybe a little too agressively, but I am sure it will grow back.

The upstairs unit had a bad leak in the a/c coil. I chose to replace the entire unit (including gas furnace) since I feared it was near end of life. It took a little over a week to get on the schedule for installation after the leak was found and they made sure that the system was charged so that we continued to have air conditioning while we waited. This was greatly appreciated during the excessively hot week. The installation took around 4 hours and they put sheets down before starting work so there was nothing to clean up afterwards except picking the sheets up. All in all a great experience and we are back in business with air conditioning. I didn't get other quotes so I don't have a frame of reference to rate the price, therefore I used "N/A".

HVAC unit went down on a Saturday when no one was home. Made a call to their 24/7 answering service late Saturday about getting technician out ASAP. Technician came out on Sunday and diagnosed the problem but the part had to be ordered. Had followup on Monday morning from Hoffacker's that the part was ordered and would be in on Tuesday. Service call was set up and technician was there as promised on Tuesday to fix the problem. We have have dealt with Hoffacker's for over 30 years and they have never failed to deliver quality serivce in a timely manner. Recommend them highly.

He came out and fixed the problem and was very knowledgeable. He also fixed an airflow issue with our air conditioning that another company told me that they could not fix. He was very professional and on time. You can tell that he is someone that knows exactly what he is doing and was very efficient.

I needed a quote/diagnostics for electric hot water heater. They called me and informed me that they do not service Gaithersburg MD :((( Why this site advertise them as hot water heater provider in my area? waste of time. Such service levevl undermine my trust in this web site. Sorry, something is not right.

Everything went well. Their tech showed up at the scheduled time. He tested everything from the outside-in. He explained what was going on, gave good recommendations (considering the age of the AC, most tech would probably try to just sell us a new system), and fixed everything promptly and quickly.

He came in diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He didn't try and sell me something I didn't need, or upgrade our system. He reminded me to change my filters monthly. He was on time, even though I wasn't - I got stuck in traffic and he waited 20 minutes for me. Quick and honest! It was a breath of fresh air to have an AC guy who was honest!!!!! I HIGHLY recommend them!

The unit has worked fine now for over 10 years -with several periods of maintenance during the 10years by Don Hoffacker. All the work was done promptly, and all my interactions with the company have been pleasant and conducted with professionalism. Recommend the company highly.

When I called, the very responsive and polite woman apologized because even though my air conditioner was still working and the weather was tolerable, there were no technicians available for two days. This fit my schedule better because I could be home that day without taking a day off work. Mike, the technician arrived as promised, and came prepared. He checked the unit, inside and out. he showed me the clogged pre-filters which were causing the problem. Cleaning the filters and the other adjustments he made actually improved the way the air conditioner works. It is much more quiet no and works great. Mike also explained how their service contracts work and I'll definitely be signing one to regularly have the air conditioner and furnace taken care of from now on.

I had a few estimates done in September 2012 because I knew the system was not going to last much longer so I knew I would be going with Don Hoffacker's when the time came. Harry came out in September and then again in April when everything came to literally a SCREECHING halt. He was always prompt and respectful and I am glad he was the last person I met with. I was amazed that in the year 2012 some of these other guys were actually talking down to me and telling me they could not do things as simply as Don Hoffacker's could. Harry was refreshingly honest and everything went exactly as he said it would. The day the work was done, once again, the 1st person to arrive was here at 8:00 a.m. on the dot. Sadly for him, I was still sound asleep so make sure if you make an 8:00 a.m. appointment with these guys to expect them at that time. Quite embarrassing. They did all the work they said they would do, took away all the old equipment, and even hauled away a dead lawn mower for me. Bonus! I have waited a while to make sure everything is working properly. All I can say is that this house has never been more comfortable. I have lived here for 11 years and I have never slept comfortably upstairs until now. I have had a chance to use the heat and the a/c and both work wonderfully thanks to Don Hoffacker's.
