Don Hoffacker’s Air Conditioning & Heating

Company was initially very responsive. Were able to schedule a visit for an estimate within a day or so. Rep came to my home and seemed knowledgeable. Said he thought the work would cost about $1000 to $1200 and he would include a few dampers in the basement at no charge. Then left, promising to email a written quote. Then, crickets. I finally called 10 days later, and got a written quote from emailed to me that day for $1875 (dated the day previous), which did not include the dampers. I asked that they have the rep call me and explain why the estimate was so much higher and was promised a call. Nothing. After following up, for the second time, 11 days later (so we're now 3+ weeks out from first contact), I was told that the rep was unavailable, but that this would be the price. No explanation. So is $1875 a reasonable price for the work? Maybe. And I probably would have used them even at that price if they'd given me a quote promptly after the initial visit, included the work they said they would do, and called me back with a reasonable explanation for the discrepancy (which there still could be!). But now I'm just fed up and I'm not interested.

They were very professional from beginning to end. They were punctual. They installed the whole unit in the time they said it would take. We had questions because they had done our first furnace and they were very forthright with information. We had one issue after the installation and they came back and addressed it. The time it took to get an appointment was reasonable. We have had a 14-year experience with them. We were pleased with the original experience with them and so we stayed and had them to the next one. We relied on their recommendations because we do feel that they are very professional. They are very knowledgeable, and we felt that the price was consistent with others.

Although the experience wasn't without a couple of complications, I would HIGHLY recommend this company. First, they are priced competitively. Second, they honored their commitments when mistakes were made. Third, they have competent technicians. We got quotes from three companies - one via phone and two in person. Hoffacker had the best price. The one area where they cost more was with their service contract. The first year of maintenance was included with the installation but when I inquired about the cost of service for future years I was told that it was a little over $100 per year now but they were planning to increase it to about $175 per year by the time I would need to purchase a service contract. I liked that they were upfront with this piece of information even before I had contracted to have them install my HVAC. Our first quote included the cost of a wifi thermostat. When we got the quote from Hoffacker it wasn't clear on our written estimate that the price quoted included a wifi thermostat. My husband contacted the sales rep and the sales rep verbally agreed that the price quoted included a Lennox icomfort wifi thermostat. Guess what, it didn't. When a basic thermostat was installed the technician told me not to worry because they would honor the verbal agreement to install the Lennox icomfort wifi thermostat. Not only did they honor that (at no additional cost of course) but they called me before I could call them to schedule installation. Although the guy they sent out to install my wifi thermostat was clearly inexperienced with wifi thermostat installation, they sent out a second installer (Harry) who had it installed in no time flat. I also know from experience with my old HVAC that they are efficient, effective, and reasonably priced with repairs. I've had no problems with the installation at all. By contrast, a friend of mine who purchased the same unit at the same time went with another company and had problems for months afterward.

They came highly recommended and I love all of their service. One does not even know that they were there. The leave the place so clean one does not even realize they were there. They are on time, they are professional and overall they are really good. Their price is pretty comparable to other companies. When I call they have somebody out as soon as it is convenient for me.

I have used them for years. They have also installed units for us. Every person who has come has been polite and conscientious of our home. They are extremely reasonable, reliable, and always come when we expect. They are great!

First, the good. The service tech arrived on time and did a great job diagnosing and repairing our heater fan. Pricing was a little high (including a substantial fee to diagnose the problem), but "DC normal", IMHO. Unfortunately, we also asked the tech to provide a price quote for additional work on 2 split-pack air conditioners that we have installed. He failed to follow up on this, and we never got the quote. Because of the high service call fee and the lack of attention to detail on the repair quotes, we'll be finding another HVAC provider in our area for future needs.

The repair man arrived at the appointed time, he immediately found that a large capacitor was burned out which he replaced in about 10 minutes. Then he tested the system and all was found to be OK. He presented an invoice which was rather high, but the company had told me I would have to paid an increased rate for out-of-hour service call.

They have really good customer service. They interact well with people. In all of those instances they were very professional, courteous and nice. Their professionalism and customer service stand out. We would absolutely use them again.

our 30 year old heat-pump/furnace system finally gave up the ghost....we interviewed several companies and Don Hoffacker's A/C and Heating offered the best price and reputation....they actually talked us out of getting a system that would have given them a higher price and more profit saying it wasn't necessary for the size of our townhouse. Their installation team arrived on time - to the second they said they'd be there - 5 professionals installing various parts of the system - all of them explaining what they were doing and techniques to cut our heating and air conditioning bill. When they were done they explained every part of the set up - maintenance, thermostat timing controls...even the best air filter brands to buy in bulk and where to find them on line. The team covered everything with drop cloths and despite the snow and mud outside, left the inside spotless. Could not be happier with the service. Highly recommend Don Hoffacker A/C and Heating.

Richard came to give us a quote and the office staff assisted with financing and getting everything ordered. It has been a wonderful experience. I have also had them do the twice yearly servicing of my old system and will definitely have them do the same with the new system they are installing today. The financing is 12 months same as cash and is wonderful when you need to get something replaced last minute. We have loved working with this company. I got two other quotes before I went with Hoffackers. The nice thing about them is that their people don't try to make you feel pressured to spend more money than you have. Richard was very honest with us and told us that even the lowest priced option was going to be better than what we originally had. I never felt like he was trying to make a sale. He seemed genuinely interested in making sure we got the best system for our needs.

I was very pleased with their services, before, during and after the installation. They are pleasant to work with and very reliable.

We called Don Hoffacker's after getting fed up with our horrible home warranty company (HMS Warranty) sent a sub-par HVAC technician to our home to "fix" our furnace. They were able to schedule us right away - which was important as a snowstorm was predicted the next day. The technician from Hoffacker's, Frank, was able to accurately diagnose and solve the problem within an hour. He performed routine maintenance on the furnace, replaced some piping that had become clogged and inspected for any potential damage. Our furnace now works great!!

The guy was really thorough - actually it is warmer in the house with the same thermostat setting. One kink with the humidifier needed to be revisited (it was kind of expected the humidifier has a lot of problems) and it was fixed at a part-only charge. My only resentment is that they do not offer a preventive maintenance package in the area I live.

The service was more than satisfactory. He was very professional and courteous and I am happy with the results.

Got this company to take my home from oil heat to gas heat because it was rated A. When I contacted them to se the time for their contractor to start the installation, I was told by their project manager that I had to contact their contractor to schedule the start of the installation. This contractor ran the gas line on my front porch next to my front door and did not put any protective sheathing over the gas line to protect it from accidental damage. Their installer came to install the furnace and the gas piping that their contractor installed for the furnace was poorly secured, instead of fixing the piping properly they jerry-rigged a solution that looked that it would last just long enough for me the pay them. We alerted them to the fact that the furnace was not working properly and their tech indicated that they would be out to change the part. Well they came out did not fix it. Thankfully the inspector that came out to check the installation caught it. Second time to fix it.

The provider replaced 7 flex lines in my attic in a professional, timely and clean manner at half the cost other providers quoted. It was easy to see that the technicians took pride in there work. I was extremely pleased with the work performed and would definitely use Don Hoffacker's Air Conditioning & Heating again.

Probably one of the best experiences I've had with an HVAC company. I needed them to repair some HVAC ducting as part of a kitchen remodel after a previous HVAC guy did a hack job on my ducts. Craig is by far the best sheet metal guy I've ever had to deal with, courteous, professional, knowledgable and willing to take the time to do a great job and answer any questions I had. Awesome job!

Service tech check out the HVAC unit as requested and made suggestions that saved me more than half of the original estimate. He didn't have to but that kind of honesty will earn my repeated business.

These guys were fantastic. Stayed in touch every step of the way when they worked on repairs to a vacant house that I had on the market. They could not have been better. I will use them at my personal residence also. I highly recommend.

I have used Hoffacker on several occasions and have always had top-notch service. I have recommended them to several of my friends and acquaintances.

I schedule my annual heating/cooling maintenance appointments with this company for a total of $158/year, which has been the price for at least five years. I like that. And, they generally do a good job, but this year's heating maintenance appointment was exceptional. The technician (Harry) went out of his way to assist with maintaining the whole house humidifier and provided guidance on how to most effectively use it. The extra time and effort motivated me to write this review. I would definitely recommend this company for your HVAC needs; just schedule in advance as they are usually quite busy.

Terrific service, on time, fair price. Description of services: pulled pilot assy(?) and cleaned flame sensor, cleared vacuum hoses ($30); new pad for humidifier ($46); service $96. Total 172 less Angie's discount(-$20). Paid $152. At site for 1 hour. I did have the furnace serviced last winter -- just a seasonal tune-up -- but different company.

The salesman who configured the estimate was friendly and knowledgeable and took pains to find out what we wanted. He did not pressure us in any way. Hoffacker's price was lower than other bids we received. The installation was performed by a crew who were friendly and were clearly expert craftsmen, and who provided more than was required in the initial contract. The back office staff was diligent in insuring that we received the energy efficiency credits that we were entitled to. Based on our experience, we highly recommend this group.

I have worked with them for 15 years, as they would service my old unit twice a year and it was always a great experience. The old unit finally was about to die, so they installed a new one for me. It took 6 hours (estimated time was 6-8), they were on time, courteous (put tarps down all over the floors where they would be walking since it was a very rainy day), efficient, and will be returning next week for a recheck as part of the service. They were also able to finance the whole thing, as it was unexpected. Overall, they did a fantastic job! Scott led the crew of Mike and Philip and they were all extremely nice. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

They were very friendly and went above and beyond. They looked at the complete system to make it was all working correctly. I would highly recommend them to others.
