Whiting Company

We had a few different windows we were looking to replace, including a set of living room windows, with our stated goal of maximizing glass. I provided a photo of the design we wanted, including the limited separation between the panes for site lines. We selected Whiting after several back and forth questioning to confirm that we would be maximizing glass. We were told that the separation would be 5.5" (they knew another contractor stated 6.5", and we thought that was too wide, would disrupt the site line, and looked too chunky). Turns out by 5.5", they meant 8" from pane to pane (vs. about 2" for our original windows)... I noticed during install and told them that was not what we were told we were supposed to be getting. I immediately sent an email to our salesperson and the installer said I would hear from the owner. The response from the sales person (the next day) was essentially, "Sorry you are unhappy, vinyl has a wider frame (NOW THIS COMES OUT?), please send us a check." I sent the owner an email the afternoon of the install to let him know my issues. The owner did not call until the next day, and said that he was not there to hear our conversation so couldn't do much without talking to the sales person. The next communication was to set up a "final walkthru" by the salesperson. I told him that I wanted the owner available by phone so that he can listen in to the issues, I was told he would be, but he was not dialed in during the scheduled walkthru. Again, the salesperson stated the issue was a wrong assumption and miscommunication. He knew exactly why we didn't select another contractor (their window setup was too chunky). We are now stuck w/a window setup that is clearly not maximizing glass. If you know exactly what you want or live in an HOA community, they may be a fine contractor - as the install went pretty well the team was nice and pretty neat. BUT if you are looking for something that isn't specifically designated by HOA limitations -- I would take what they say the product will look like with a grain of salt. UPDATE: The company offered us a discount to the contract price due to the "miscommunication." I really appreciated the fact that they promptly sent someone out after the fact (including my initial review) after I emailed them about a draft coming in by the windows. They did what they could (which helped), but seems the main issue was that our siding contractor (not Whiting) had yet to caulk the outside.

average. not as professional as I expected

It went very well. They guys were super early, they installed it quick and cleaned up good after. They even took off a couple old satellites I didn't need and replaced that board. Have not had any rain since the install. But it has snowed a few inches once and melted with no issues. Seems to be a job well done so far! Only critique is I would recommend they give at least 3 days notice to schedule the install date, instead of 1 day. Wasn't too much of an issue for me, but maybe for others with leas flexible schedules.

We had a slate roof that was literally crumbling. We got three quotes for a shingled roof. Whiting was the lowest AND they insulated our attic which we weren't considering but glad we did it. The house stays drastically warmer and we can't wait to see the energy savings! They did any excellent job of picking up all the crumbled, dusty slate. Thanks Don for coming out and being great to work with. We will be reaching out for other home improvements next year.

Awesome! We were very impressed with everything - the cost, clean up, how quickly they finished even when running into bumps. We even took this offer and spent a couple more months shopping around. He was very ready and responsive even though we kept them hanging for that long, and we're very happy we decided to go with Whiting. Our house is not exactly cookie cutter, so they had to add transitions around sunrooms, weird columns and angled windows and everything looks perfect. The detail in all of those transitions is very impressive to us. I would absolutely recommend Whiting Co!

They did a very good job in a quick turnaround time. They started and finished on time

During the the negotiation time frame they were quite responsive and helpful and they worked with us on the planning for the windows. After payment was made it was hard to get the salesperson Tony to respond to email. That may have been due to the fact that they are a small company, but it would have been nice to get responses from them via email. The install team was very nice and courteous and they did a great job on the install. I was quite surprised to see that the installers didn't all work for Whiting. One of the install team told.me that they used people from other companies - one of them even had a Long Windows shirt and sweatshirt on! As long as Whiting garuntees their windows, I suppose I don't care who installs them. The owner Tim seems to be a good guy and I would rather give the money to a smaller business than someone like Long Windows.

They did the work as scheduled, for the price quoted and the new roof looks great. The price quoted was about 2000.00 less than the other two estimates I got. I would not hesitate to call them as I was very pleased with all aspects of the job.

The repair went well and was efficiently done. A small job, but I appreciate the time taken to complete.

Well we signed the contract in October and we had to call in November to be scheduled after a deposit was taken. We were told that we would be contacted and we never were. We were finally scheduled the roofer came early Friday morning which I was happy about, the roofer started throwing trash in my elderly neighbors yard which ended up causing an argument between my neighbors and the roofers, things escalated and the police were called a police report was filed. My neighbor said he would sue if any damages were done to his property. The roofers left once it got dark outside, there was trash everywhere, they left my front yard gate and back yard gate open. They never told us they were leaving and they never told us when they were coming back. So the next morning around 10am I didn’t hear from the the roofers, I called the company and Mr.Whiting answered the phone, he said that he is sure his roofers would come back, I told him about the police report he said “the police can do what they need to do” he never apologized for the altercation or even asked what happened. He called back and told me the roofers were coming at 1pm, they didn’t arrive until after 3 pm. Then on top of everything my front bay windows slate wasn’t replaced with shingles because the roofers said it wasn’t completed in the estimate, which to me was a lie. But I will not be using this company ever again I was satisfied with the partial work that was completed I was not satisfied with the employees or owner. How do you not include a window in an estimate when I was told the window was included in the estimate, but my side bay window was. That’s very frustrating because this wasn’t cheap.

The roof looks terrific and I now have rain gutters and spouts that can handle the volume of rain without spilling over like a waterfall. One crew came to do the roof and a few days later the other crew came to do the rain spouts. All done efficiently. I am very pleased.

We had a bumpy start. The first appointment was set for a Monday evening, but my husband and had to cancel. It was then reset for the following Saturday morning. The rep was a few minutes late, but the meeting went well. We expected work to begin in about three weeks. Instead we were told the roofers would be there Saturday morning. They arrived before 8 am and were cleaning up before 4:30. Their cleanup was very detail oriented. After they left you couldn't tell they'd been here. The siding along with scaffolding arrived on Monday and was completed Wednesday. When I came home Tuesday evening the crew was still here and the yard was a huge mess. Bits and pieces all over! But, before they left everything was raked up and taken away. Again, cleanup was excellent. Late Friday morning the gutters and downspout crew arrived. They finished up mid afternoon. For a third time cleanup was excellent. So, we had our roof, siding, gutters and downspouts replaced in under a week. All three tasks were finished before we expected the first to begin!

Did not use this contractor as he did not provide all requested insurance info and had a significant math error in his proposal.

Sent crew back next day to ensure all cleanup was done correctly since it was getting dark when they finished. Cleanup was spotless and crew was very good and efficient. They all worked hard and were very responsive to all our concerns throughout the time they were here. Would definitely use Whiting again!

They did a good job. They replaced boards that were not working good. They did a good job. They did a real good job. He was always in touch. They were on time. Very professional, not only the guy, but the folks who did the work.

We needed a trusted source to retain the best roofing company possible for our needs. So we turned to Angie's List and located the Whiting Company. The Whiting Company's sales representative was fair, honest, and honored the coupon we received from Angie's List. The roofing work began on schedule and was completed on schedule. The team was courteous, professional, and cleaned up after they were done. Our roof is beautiful thanks to the Whiting Company and Angie's List.

My experience with the Whiting Company went wonderfully from beginning to end. I had already spoken to several roofing companies when I came across the Whiting company deal on Angie's List. I thought it sounded too good to be true... lucky for me it wasn't! I called the company first to make sure my townhouse met the deal requirements as I have three floors and the offer was for two story homes. The owner, Tim, got back with me assuring that he would be able to offer me the deal. I then met with Don to go over the contract details. I found him to be extremely honest about what needed to be done, not pressuring me into unnecessary work. I found this extremely refreshing as most contractors I had met with wanted to take hours of my time with presentations of overpriced materials and persuasion to go with their company. Don was very no nonsense, he gave his opinion of my roofing needs and then left it up to me if I wanted to sign a contract or not. The crew came out a few weeks later, arrived on time, worked efficiently, were very kind and professional. They took the time to cover my decks and yard and cleaned up afterwards. My roof is beautiful! I highly recommend the Whiting Company and would not hesitate to use them in the future!

I was very pleased with the original roofing job that was completed in 2017. The crew was efficient, professional and very courteous. I had contacted several companies before closing Whiting. They offered me the best price and seemed the most sincere. I have no regrets as they did a terrific job. Since then I had two leaks, both related to caulking that had worn away. When I contacted Tim, he was immediately responsive and sent someone out to fix the situation within a few days. Every interaction I have had with Tim and his staff have been very positive, professional and productive. I highly recommend this company!

All staff were courteous, responsive, and responsible for all parts of the process - setting up the work, measuring, and installation. Very efficient and professional. The two days it took to replace them were not stressful at all and the clean up after replacing the windows was thorough. I love my new windows! I am so pleased that I am next having The Whiting Company repair my roof and gutters.

I met with Don to discuss the project scope. He was professional and I received the estimate in a timely manner. Also, the estimate was reasonable and within our budget. Though the community board chose a different vendor for this specific project, we would have no problems in reaching out to Whiting Co for future work.

It was very well. They were very courteous, on time, and they did a good job! Their price was very competitive.

The estimate was timely and professional. The estimator recommended only what was needed. The price was higher than one of the other estimates but the approach proposed made a lot of sense. The work took longer to get started that the estimator had suggested. It look less than a day to complete and was done very efficiently and the clean-up was thorough.

Overall it went very well. The salesperson was very attentive. He helped me through the process. He assisted me through the choices needed, even though I was indecisive at times, he hung in there with me. The installers were very thorough during installation. Loved the work once fully completed. I would definitely recommend and use the services of The Whiting Company again.

It was pretty good. I am satisfied and I don't have any complaints!
