Description of Work: removed old shingles and replaced rotten plywood and then replaced roof. all went well except it would have been wise for us to ask for Mr. Whiting to actually go up in the attic so that we could have gotten a closer estimate of plywood replacement. This was a major cost to the roof replacement, and a bit unexpected.

Description of Work: Tim Whiting is an honest upfront guy. There were no hidden costs and his crew was very professional. He worked with me on the best date to replace the roof and his crew showed up early and they finished and cleaned up by early afternoon. I'm very pleased with the roof and I would highly recommend Tim and his company.

They provided an initial consultation that thoroughly explained the process and impressed me in its completeness. Did the job in a single day and left the yard cleaner than they found it. Highly recommend this company.

Description of Work: Met for a free estimate, he was on time and provided very good information about the roofing history and his own start in business, but when I asked for a copy of his insurance I felt uncomfortable, it appeared as if he was insulted. He wanted a signed contract before he left in order to get a discount. What I have learned is that you do not have to sign that day to get a good deal. I found a great contractor for cheaper price and they did not present these big discounts and pressure to sign right there and then. I think this is bad practice.

Description of Work: Replaced a flat roof on a rowhouse. There was a mix-up in the material used and I was not given the correct roofing material so the roof continued to leak. Tim Whiting was very professional and honest about the problem. Fixed the leak, offered me an extended roof warranty and partial refund. No more leaks and I would definitely use Whiting Company again.

Description of Work: My first call was like pulling teeth. The man who answered the phone didn't identify himself and sounded like he'd just woken up. He sounded very uninterested in my call and asked if I'd be home alone when the estimate was done and whether there would be other decision-makers involved in process. When I asked whom I was speaking with, the man identified himself as the owner. I made an appointment for the next week and when the time came no one showed up. I called the business and a man who identified himself as the owner said he was sorry about the mix-up but that no appointment had been scheduled. The man did call back the next day but by that time I felt my efforts would be better spent with other providers.

Description of Work: They gave us a quote to do some work on the rotting wood around our dormers, trim work around the garage doors, and front door. Their sales manager seemed professional in his presentation, however his tardiness caused us to choose another contractor. He was late for our first appointment, late providing the quote, and late with the subsequent visit to sign the contract. He then had the nerve to try to explain that tardiness is normal in this line of work! Anyone can be late for appointment, however if I have to call you on two separate occasions at the time you are due or shortly after, that's a problem for me. | |The other thing that didn't sit right with me is that I was told I would have to pay two thirds of the money before the project was over. One third of the deposit at contract signing, second third of the money when they showed up for work, and the remainder of the money at job completion. it was explained to me by their sales manager that that was the norm in the industry. Needless to say I never used this contractor, I felt that they would be holding on to my money and I will be waiting for the job to start. The contractor that I ended up using was the second person I called, they didn't ask for any money until the job was complete.

Description of Work: They checked the roof and determined that some repair was needed and that the skylights needed to be replaced. They did the work at the appointed time. And so far it looks good and there are no leaks.
