Terrible. Rich, the sales person who took the call was arrogant, rude, insulting, and sexist. I would never hire this company as long as Rich is the sales person. After hanging up, I realized he was the same person who came to my home a few years ago and gave an estimate and he was rude at that time. His bid was also way over what every one else proposed.

The owner answered the phone, looked up the job, and offered to order and install a replacement drawer and cabinet door AT NO CHARGE. I was amazed, fully prepared to shell out some dollars to replace the two pieces. The replacement was just complete a few moments ago, just a few weeks after I called. The kitchen cabinets are restored to their uniform whiteness. The courteous installer even had a small paint tube in his truck, and touched up some rub marks. As noted, I was very pleased with quality, price and installation the first time around, and hugely pleased this business valued my business enough to offer a free replacement and installation.
Description of Work: In 2008, I used Kitchen Magic to completely reface 88' running feet of kitchen cabinets, and were very satisfied with the results, which still look pristine today. A house guest had spilled a tomato-based sauce on the front of the white cabinet and didn't tell me in time to properly get the stain cleaned before it set. I tried everything, then called Kitchen Magic to explore the cost of replacing a drawer and cabinet front.

Wonderful-- highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Refaced all kitchen cabinets in cherry and had new doors, drawer fronts. Installed new quartz counters and had the refrigerator enclosed in a new surround .custom built by them. They were prompt, courteous, and completed the work on schedule. They made suggestions for increasing the available storage space (always a problem with the galley kitchens in a duplex).. The results were spectacular -- we had a brand new kitchen at well under the price we would have paid for replacement cabinets.
Description of Work: Kitchen Magic refaced all the cabinets in our kitchen, including rebuilding the frame for some that had had sliding doors (not hinged ones) previously. They also worked with Counter Intelligence to replace the existing countertops with silestone.

Their methodology is very good. They use master carpenters. They're not just guys they just hired 2 weeks ago. The owner is an engineer and assesses the job before the work begins. He had some really good ideas that we incorporated. They put in new drawers and re-faced my kitchen cabinets. The product is good quality. They used Amish doors for the cabinets. I was very pleased with this. They built a wood frame around each cabinet and attached the new doors on that frame. They didn't just use the existing mount. This is very important for quality, longevity, and stability. It looks like a brand new state of the art kitchen. I would use Kitchen Magic Refacers, Inc. again and recommend their service.

First, the installation itself was very good. No issues there. We did have significant issues with Kitchen Magic in the final week. My brother signed a contract with Kitchen Magic to complete the work stated above with a 1/3 down-payment and the rest to be financed at 0% for 12 months. The home was vacated in early July, as I worked (possessing my brother's full power-of-attorney) with contractors to complete pre-sale renovations. My brother moved 3 hours away in early July and planned to return when required. Kitchen Magic was unable to start the installation when they scheduled because of an employee illness - no issue there, it does happen and we were understanding and flexible. After the installation eventually began (July 29), after Mike, from the company determined that the installation MIGHT be completed on August 1st, Mike called me at work and stated that we must either come with cashier's or certified check for the balance due ... or get my brother to return that day to sign the 0% loan ... or their employee would "walk off the job right now". I told Mike that declaring an emergency was unnecessary as my brother could come up on Saturday and sign any paperwork necessary OR he could FedEx the paperwork to him, he would sign/notarize it and return it via FedEx and he would have it all by Wednesday ... and we would happily pay the Fedex costs. He refused to do anything via FedEx and reiterated that if we could not commit to getting my brother to drop everything and return to the worksite with payment-in-full before their employee left "today", he would have their employee "walk off the job right now". He then blamed the Federal Government, new credit laws and the rigorous requirements of the credit agency and that he "had been stiffed by a prior customer who did not pay". I reminded him that we had been very flexible with their schedule and they could be flexible for a couple days to get my brother to drive up to sign any paperwork ... it was just impossible to do it "today". I was unable to leave work, my brother could not leave and drive three hours ... so my wife took the remainder of the day off to get a bank check and get to the job site ... only to find that the installer was unable to finish that day anyway!!! Manufactured emergency … no need for a check and ½ day wasted. Okay ... I was not quick enough to remind him that we actually have a signed contract that states that they will do work and we will actually pay for it. There is no requirement that payment be made or paperwork be signed the very day that work is completed, especially when the job completion is indefinite. The fact that there is a contract actually DOES mean something to both parties and we did nothing at all to deserve this manufactured emergency. In the end, we seemed forced to skip the 12-month 0% financing, which, I suspect, was the reason they manufactured this emergency ... they benefit by receiving cash over credit. Oh … and they still have not deposited the 1/3 down-payment check they were given at contract signing on June 11th (today is August 14th). Recommendation: I would read your contract payment terms well in advance of signing the contract. Ensure that payment of any balance due is required by reasonable terms: 15 days or 30 days from project completion. If you cannot get reasonable contract payment terms that ensure they cannot create an emergency, do not do business with this company.

I just got off of the phone with Rick from Kitchen Magic Refacers, and I would never consider using this vendor. Rick spent more time making sure that I knew that I didn't know what I was talking about and that he knew everything about us and our kitchen in a 5-minute phone call. Even when I got past his arrogance and asked for an appointment for a quote, Rick refused to schedule one because my wife would not be present for the appointment. When I said that I was happy for them that business was so good that they could say no to getting quotes, Rick replied that "business was very good". I'm happy that Magic Kitchen Refacers can be so selective as to who their clients are. You make your own judgement in dealing with them, this was just my limited interaction.

The sales visits were good, many options are available. The representative brought everything possible to see in terms of door types, colors, construction, etc. Very helpful and professional. The purchase (sign the contract) was professional and quick. NOTE - we were not told that we would have to acquire our own cabinet and drawer hardware (pulls, knobs, etc.). It was not brought to our attention even though we had selected doors that would require these. This notification could have been done and prevented a slight issue of misunderstanding between contract signing and installation. This is the reason for the B grade in responsiveness. Installation went well. It was estimated to be a 5 day job, but it took 6 days to do. This is the reason for the B grade in punctuality. This was due to the size of the kitchen as well as some material not being in the original delivery. I had additionally done some of the work prior to their arrival (removed all doors, drawers, and associated hardware). I did this because I was saving all this for another use on my part. We are happy with Kitchen Magic, through the entire process. The small glitches of communication and the extra day were minor in the whole process. We recommend them and all who see our "new" kitchen very much like the results.
Description of Work: We had a very large kitchen refaced with Cherry cabinet doors, refacing, and all new drawers (due to the prior drawer construction). The kitchen went from all white to Cherry wood in a natural stain finish. Based on measurements from Kitchen Magic and other vendors, the kitchen size was approximately 1.5x as large as a "regular" kitchen due to some very large pantry doors.

We hired the contractor to demo the bulkhead and replace existing cabinets with larger versions. After demolition started, contractor realized that the bulkhead would require substantial modifications to be removed, as it was structural load bearing. Contractor worked with us to redesign our plans to just perform cabinet and drawer replacement/refacing. All went well from that point and the job was completed with professionalism and to our satisfaction.

Issue #1: Started at first meeting in October 2014. Salesperson did NOT and consistently DID NOT HEAR what i was describing to him. Even with a wood sample. He kept going on and on and the quality of their work. So, to save $10,000 in buying new cabinets we decided upon this option. Issue #2: Another person came out to finalize the measurements. Apparently Salesperson #1 did not LISTEN to what we wanted with replacing the drawers. They were just going to reface them. This would have left the drawers looking and working unbalanced and uneven and interiors being worn and ugly compared to the rest of the "new stuff". Salesperson #2 said it would be $450 extra to replace all the drawers with new ones. Wow. Ok. I needed them to work and look good. My old drawers have become crooked - since they were installed in 1988. I don't know WHY Salesperson #1 didn't suggest that at the initial meeting. Issue #3: We were to receive samples of the wood we chose and the color we chose. At the initial meeting, we told Salesperson #1 that we wanted a stain with grain showing, not a flat paint! We said this at least 3 times. What do we get as a sample????? Yes, a FLAT painted piece of wood with no grain showing. So, it takes another 2 1/2 weeks to get another sample. Issue #4: Approved sample. It is now the end of November! They said they wouldn't be able to come install until January! Yes, it took 3 MONTHS for this process start to finish. I could have received NEW cabinets in 6 weeks. Issue #5: Installation time. They had to build a new cabinet for over the refrigerator. It was clearly CROOKED! The bottom of the cabinet was 1 inch wider by the time you got to the top of the cabinet! AND where the inside hinges were there clearly was a mistake and was all GNARLED up on the inside! HOW could a "craftsmen" leave such an obvious mess of a creation and not expect us to NOTICE??!?!? Seriously?! It looked like something a high school shop student did. We told them to replace the whole thing Issue #6: They did not tell us during the initial visit that the build-ups of the cabinets to reach the ceilings were just FRAMES! The interior and the back (wall exposed) were not finished. Now the inside of the top shelf of my cabinets are the ugly burnt orange color of the previous paint job. I could have painted that if i had known it would be showing!!!!!!! Issue #7: Upon final inspection 3 of the drawers were WAY off color to the rest of the cabinets. It looked like they were missing a coat of stain!!!! So, they ordered and replaced them 2 weeks later. Issue #8: We were provided a can of paint to paint the inside edges of the inside of the frames of the cabinets to match the outside.. really? I have to actually do work on the cabinets i paid $15,000 for ????!! The craftsmanship was definately was under par for what they told us. It seemed like they just wanted to get in and out without really taking a step back and looking at the work. Things still are uneven, but can't do anything b/c the laminate is glued down. Salesperson didn't even follow up the week the workers were here to check how things were going. Once he received the check, he didn't care. If I had to make the decision over again, i DEFINITELY would have gone with NEW cabinets. I could have received them in 6 weeks, instead of a total of 3 1/2 months, consistent color, better workmanship and a lot less headaches.

Finished product The cabinet refacing is beautiful. Our elderly kitchen looks brand new. John, the technician arrived on time and did a fantastic job within the time promised. He also left everything clean. A second technician came out promptly when we noticed a small problem, the kind that frequently comes up with a home improvement project. Now that we've lived with the new kitchen for two months, we are still very pleased. Generally, a very good job. James, the sales rep, was very professional, and unlike some others, did not try to pressure us into anything. Ken, the technician who did the measurements, was also professional and made several very good suggestions. They had a wide range of finishes to chose from, most of them beautiful wood veneers. Price We got a total of six estimates, and Kitchen Magic's price was about in the middle. Issues Unfortunately, there were two issues. First, they did not tell us in advance that the insides of the new drawers would be unfinished wood. The outsides have the same wood veneer as the refaced cabinets, but we had to polyurethane the insides. This was not a big deal, but a heads up would have been nice. Second, when they moved the refrigerator they left several cracks in our tile floor. At first they claimed that our old floor was "an accident waiting to happen." They did not mention this up front, although they knew that the entire kitchen including the floor was over 25 years old. Interestingly, none of the other five companies who gave us estimates expressed any concerns about the floor. After about a month of negotiations with a rep who was very disagreeable, they offered us what we felt was a fair settlement to have the tile repaired. Summary The main thing is we love the kitchen and expect it to last for many years. Kitchen Magic definitely does quality work. We hope this review offers the company some constructive feedback.
Description of Work: Refaced the fronts of our 25+ year old kitchen cabinets, replaced all existing cabinet doors and drawers and one entire cabinet, and replaced two existing bottom cabinets with drawers. We chose a wood veneer that blends with the insides of the cabinets.

The process was fairly smooth. After some initial back and forth to get the estimate set up, we had the appointment and ended up promptly signing to have the work done. Our estimate transaction was smooth. All of the samples were brought to the house so we understood the range of options and pricing. Initial measurements were done as well as a drawing and then a different appointment was made for the countertops measurement. The day the work was to begin, the team arrived a little later than we expected but the demolish work began and the new cabinets to be installed were delivered. The work took one day longer than originally planned but was completely explainable and the work did finish before the week was out. We are quite satisfied with the quality and are enjoying our new kitchen immensely. We met Ken at the Dulles Home Show and appreciated the info he provided there and no hard sell is what made us decide to make the call once we had seen our options. Would definitely recommend Kitchen Magic to friends and neighbors!

I spoke to the provider and it was a very bad experience. He did almost all of the talking and interrupted me when I tried to ask questions. He said it would cost at least $1,500 to shorten the kitchen cabinet but I have spoken to another kitchen cabinet maker who said it would cost between $200 to $500 to shorten the kitchen cabinet. The provider made rude remarks to me and was impossible to deal with. I would not recommend this provider to anyone.

My kitchen looks beautiful and is much more functional. Kitchen Magic had excellent communication about the process. The installer arrived on time and worked very long days. The estimate said it may take 4 days but it was finished on the 3rd day. I have had people think I got all new cabinets - not refacing - since the new cabinets & the refaced cabinets are a perfect match. My only problem was I ended up short a few clips to hold the shelves in the new cupboards. I called & offered to come pick them up (because I needed to get them that day before my help to come move everything back into the cupboards came over) but they had someone drop them off that afternoon.

It was bad from the start. As expected, they had to de-gloss the exiting cabinet face frames prior to putting on the contact cement and re-facing material. They used a 60-grit sanding disk on a right angle grinder. This is way too coarse for the job and does not create a flat surface, much less allow a good smooth clean surface for the contact adhesive. Hence, after two years, the laminate was peeling off. Also, they used inferior drawer slide hardware with plastic retainers at the back of the drawer glides - after three years, these started to break and the drawers started to fail for opening and closing. Called the sales rep to complain - no joy. Ended up replacing the kitchen in 2012. Over all - a big fat F

Response from Kitchen Magic Refacers, Inc.
A decade ago, Kitchen Magic Refacers used different materials which have now been changed to provide better stability and usability. Kitchen Magic Refacers has always worked with our clients to replace or upgrade aspects of their kitchen as our clients have continued to live in their homes. All it takes is a call to our office to explain any issues and we are happy to stand by our clients under our Limited Lifetime Warranty. In reference to the items mentioned, Kitchen Magic Refacers has never and will never use a plastic laminate. We only use natural hardwood products. Kitchen Magic Refacers also uses completely metal drawer glides and brackets. In terms of preparation, a rough surface is needed for any contact adhesive to properly grip the surface. The process of abrading requires a low grit sandpaper which removes any unwanted surface films, paints, and/or oxides. Kitchen Magic Refacer's craftsmen are skilled in their trade and have decades of experience in woodworking. For more information on kitchen remodeling, visit our website at KitchenMagic.Net. Thanks!

I made an appointment with this contractor several weeks ago. Today I received a call by Dave to confirm the appointment, only to find out that they will refuse to come to my home because my husband cannot be here: he works in DC and certainly cannot take off work just to meet with a contractor. I have made all the decisions regarding our home and contractors in the past. I was not told of this company's policy when I first arranged the appointment. Now I have to find someone else and have wasted several weeks. I am very disappointed.

I did notice that 2 of the seams for the sheet goods are not where 2 cabinets would meet. In both places the seams are along the bottom front of the box cabinet. It isn't a big deal but it would have been just as easy to seam the sheet goods where the cabinets would ordinarily meet. Also, when I mentioned that I could not open 2 adjacent cabinet doors at the same time, the answer was 'how often would you open both at the same time anyway?' I would use this company again, now that I know what to look for. Overall I am pleased with the finished product.
Description of Work: For the most part the work was done well. The installer was very concscience about keeping the dust in the kitchen. He sealed of the work area as best he could.
