Fox First Construction

It was crappy, all he Tudor trim has buckled and with come off or looks bad, they used Finishing nails instead of screws. They proved to me that they couldn't do this properly.

Perfectly. We'd called for an estimate & while Mike Fox was here, 2 neighbors came out to say hello to him. Both reported excellent service and quality. We hired him on the spot. Not only did Fox Construction do a wonderful job on the installation, the follow-p service was equally great. We highly recommend Fox.

Mike responded quickly to my inquiry, and arrived promptly for the estimate. He had clear communication throughout the whole process. The finished product is functional and pleasing to the eye. They even installed a shutter that had fallen off my home while they were here complimentary. I would use them in the future.

Not well. In the end, the work was completed and there were not any hidden charges, but the workers, while friendly were not very efficient. Also attention to detail was lacking. Wrong door was picked up from Lowe and then installed even though they knew it was the wrong door. Instead of informing me that I had ordered the wrong door, they installed it anyway. Then, I indicated that the receipt was for the correct item. I was given a hard time about it at first, but then they corrected their mistake without additional charges. They reused the trim though and it looks like it was installed, then uninstalled, and then reinstalled. Not very happy, but I'll chalk it up to a learning experience.

Mike's team did an excellent job for a reasonable price. They arrived on the time and date promised and did excellent work. I will use this company again in the future and highly recommend as reliable and great quality of work.

The service itself was fine. It was difficult to match the advertisement and line it up with the work. We were pleased with the quality of the work and the end result. It was hard to compare the work that we needed and how they were going to apply the Big Deal. It would be more helpful if there was more clarity in the advertisement. He was very helpful and did a good job. They sent out a whole crew to do the job.

The tiles were exactly what we expected and the worksite was really clean. It did take a little while (especially given the weather) to get the work completed but the time frame was reasonable easpecially considering how good of a deal it was.

Mike was punctual and professional, as were his helpers. Mike arrived the first day to work and supervise. They used three different paints: white for doors and trim; white for wainscotting halfway up the walls; light blue-green for upper walls, and pale blue-green on ceilings. They also detailed carving on side of stairwell at my request. They took two days in all, and cleaned up very nicely. Upon inspection, I noticed a couple small glitches and Mike returned himself to fix them. The seams in the ceiling were another story: they didn't quite turn out as smooth as expected. However, I decided to live with it, although Mike offered to return and re-do them. So, in all, I would say Fox Construction is a reputable outfit and Mike takes personal interest in pleasing customers. P.S. I got a good price due to an Angie's List special. I did have to purchase all the paint, according to the deal, so the total price was probably $400-500 more.

Mike Fox was very helpful during the estimate process and we decided to go with Fox First after looking at estimates from several other providers. The work was only supposed to take one day but it ended up taking two. It seemed like the workers were taking a few more breaks than necessary . They had to hire a subcontractor mason, so that may have been some of the issue. All in all, the work was done within budget and it serves our purpose. There have been no issues to date.

It went very well. I really liked him. He was very professional. He contacted me via email. He dropped off some samples of the roofing and let me know if he was going to be running late. I enjoyed working with him. It was a rental property. He was down there. I had spoken to him before about what I needed done. I would use him again.

There were communication problems initially and the work took a while to get started. But once work started, it went very well. The workers were very professional and nice. They were respectful of our home and family. They did a great job and even gave us tips on how we could finish the part we would do later. All in all, it was worth the wait for a job very well done.

All of the plantings around the house were protected, clean-up was thorough, and the roof looks great.

Fox First, Mike Fox, did extremely well for us. We had to do extensive repairs and replacements for our outside stucco and siding. Did it on time, on budget and with attention to detail. Was flexible in responding to our changes in plans and ideas. Plan to use them in the future on two other re-do tasks. Yes, as we have already, will gladly recommend them to our neighbors and friends.

The contractor was apparently swamped with Big Deal requests because it took 5 days to get an e-mail reply to questions I had. He admitted to that in a follow-up e-mail with questions I had in which he replied to the following day. After he came to measure my roof and said he'd send an estimate, I finally e-mailed him six days later to ask where it was. The next day he responded with the estimate. I had expected it to be higher than the Big Deal rate, as I knew my roof area was larger because I'd measured it myself. But it came in much higher than I'd thought it would. At that point I called another Angie's List roofer (Metropolitan Construction Services) who I'd used last year for a commercial property I manage. He gave me a lower cost and some added services, and since I was familiar with him and he agreed to do the work next week I decided to seek a refund for this Big Deal and go with Metropolitan. It in no way means Fox, which is rated A on Angie's List, would not have done a good job.

I purchased this in July. I did have someone come to my house and listen to what I wanted done. He said he was a little backed up and couldn't start till October. I said no problem, I just wanted it done by the holidays. I have yet to hear from them again. It is now the end of November! I have sent 2 email requesting them to contact me and I've had no response. I'm done!!

Fox First Construction did contact me soon after I purchased the deal. The estimation appointment was canceled by them once and eventually made last Thursday. The final estimation come out this Tuesday morning and it is about $3000 more due to the size of my roof. I don't have enough budget to do the project.

We were vary satisfied and happy with the job. He delivered as he promised, and gave very competitive pricing since the deal was not sufficient to cover all the work we needed. The crew was very knowledgeable and professional. Mike came out the next day after we called him and were able to schedule the time that we wanted to do the job. The framing took 4 days of 2 men job to complete. The price was for labor only.

I emailed Mike to set up the appt. for an estimate and he responded right away. I gave him my address information and never heard back from him. Then days later, on a Saturday, he shows up at my house with a ladder to inspect my roof! He said he had just sent me an email telling me he was coming. I told him I had scheduled someone else but please give me an estimate. It took him about 10 minutes to look things over and gave me a price and said he'd e-mail me the estimate by weekend's end. Updated 11/5/13 - I received the estimate last night and I am going to go with Fox Construction. Even though his response time wasn't the greatest, his price seems fair and I figure he must be pretty good or he wouldn't be so busy! I will post a review after the work is finished.

We decided not to do it. Their estimated cost of service is $12000. They over-bid the job. Our interaction was fine. I just don't think that they heard what I told them and that was that we don't want to spend a lot of money on the roof because the house will get torn down in a couple of years. Everybody has been responsive. I would possibly use them in the future.

Fox First did a great job for us. The roof required replacement of the underlayment along with the shingles. The result was excellent. Mike communicates well and manages our expectations effectively. Now, on to rehab of the rest of the house.

I purchased the "Big Deal" coupon for a "Week of General Contractor Expertise'". Owner, Mike Fox (Fox First Construction), reached out to me right away. In spite of some stops and starts, we were able to meet to discuss my projects and set a date to begin the work Unfortunately, before we could begin on any projects, an electrician was required to check the electrical in the house, particularly where there seemed to be no power on one side of the house. Mike recommended Nick Haramis (separate note on him) who took care of the electrical problem. Mike's team of one, Tone, was able to begin work and did a fantastic job. Murphy's Law intervened and a few of the projects ballooned beyond the 40-hour coupon. However, Fox First Construction was able to accomplish a great deal during those 40 hours. I appreciate that Mike's folks arrived and worked steady, cleaned up, and did not balk at presenting identification when asked. Looking forward to working with Mike, Tone and Luis (who perfectly handled the drywall) in the future.

So great. Mike Fox is wonderful and has great crew that works for him. He is very hands on and always accessible. Always in contact with update, timing, changes, ideas to consider.

Mike Fox was very easy to work with. We began the reno while my family was still living in Nebraska. Communication was excellent! We are super pleased with the finished product. He has exceptional work ethic and made sure the work was done to MY expectations. Fox First Construction will be here on Wednesday to give us an estimate on our upstairs renovation. We look forward to working with him again!

I have been using their services for the last seven years. He did a great job taking care of my house when I was away overseas. His prices are fair. I am very happy with their work.
