After such a pleasant experience with our first set of windows earlier this year we decided to continue to complete our around the house replacement. These windows were larger and needed tempered glass so were more expensive than the last set but there was some discount for repeat customers. It was de ja vu all over again! We received excellent product, installation, and a limited lifetime guarantee even against internal condensation that plagues the poorly engineered windows of today. The manufacturing and installation of the garden window went very smoothly.  Alex and his install team were very good.  They went out of their way to take down the custom woven wood shade, and made customizations to make sure the shade could be reinstalled.  Installation was completed in 2 1/2 hours.

Scott has been absolutely fantastic.  I needed a single storm window replacement.  Scott told me that order would hardly make business sense for him, and referred me to the manufacturer from which he normally orders windows. I called them.  They were not interested in talking to me, saying that they only deal with contractors.  
When I told Scott, he readily and cheerfully agreed to help me out, acting as the contractor in this case, even though his profit would be negligible.  
To make sure the order would be correct, Scott came by my house to measure the window, pick up a damaged window, and match colors to existing window.  
He immediately placed the order, quoting me the very reasonable price of approximately $280, to be paid to him when the window was finally produced.  
Conclusion:   There is nothing Scott could have done to satisfy me and to help me out that he did not do.  He is truly a paragon of responsible and responsive business practices and customer service.

I highly recommend Zen Windows of Washington! Scott Halle, the owner of this particular franchise, should give seminars on how to deliver excellent Customer Service!  He did not merely get the job done, he DELIGHTED us, his customer, at every step in the process. I have never received better customer service in my entire life for any other purchase I've made. Scott is simply the Best!
Although Zen Windows emphasizes the fact that they can give you a quote "In 5 minutes," when I called I explained that there were some unique circumstances with several of my windows. Scott came out that day himself  and measured each window and we talked through each of the oddball circumstances with some of my windows. Scott  then gave me a quote that never changed and was never beaten by many other local companies.
I did extensive research on windows and  multiple local window companies and found that all of the companies offered very similar products.  You can get, generally speaking,  a very similar product from multiple companies and  you end up comparing  slight, negligible differences in SHGC or VT (e.g. .29 vs. .27, the difference of which in practice is virtually meaningless.)  So, since the windows themselves  are so very similar, you're left to choose based on price and customer service.  Zen Windows really differentiated themselves on both fronts. 
Their prices were lower even though their windows came out on top in the standard quality metrics (U Factor, SHGC, VT, etc.) compared to the other companies. 
And, as mentioned before, Scott's customer service is really something you have to experience for yourself.  He was always available to quickly respond to any question I had throughout the process. He came to our home and gave us a no-pressure demo of his windows and patiently answered all our many questions. As I narrowed down my selection of which company to purchase from Scott was always quick to answer any question via email or phone. It was Scott's customer service that really swayed me to choose Zen Windows.
Once installation day came, Scott was there to check in on how the installation process was going and again patiently  answered all of our questions.  And I ask a lot of questions!  The installers also did a great job, answered all my questions, and even helped me remove a blind or two that I was having trouble with - and gave me advice on how to easily reinstall the blinds once the windows were done.
I waited a few months before writing this review because I wanted to see how the windows actually performed in practice. Well, my wife and I both love them.  They look great both from the inside and outside of the house.  It is like our house got a face lift. Scott matched the capping color perfectly with the rest of the house's trim and our 3 dormer windows look great.  We also opted for the "BetterVue" screen mesh on the windows we actually look out of most often, and they look great and the view is really clear, like the screens aren't even there.  Now that the weather is warming up (I write this in early Spring), it is a pleasure to be able to so easily open and close our new windows.  The old, 29 year old windows were annoyingly difficult to open, so having new windows makes life just a little more convenient, too.  We have electric heat and while there are other variables at play (i.e. how cold it was outside in a given month in a given year), my electric bills are down $200 for January and February and $150 for March as compared to the last 2 years' bills for the same month. 
In summary, I did extensive research on which window company to use - save yourself some time and just go right to Zen Windows. Once you start to work with Scott Halle, you'll know you're working with a special company and you're going to get a great product at the best price and with extraordinary customer service!

And then the whole paperwork and windows options happened over the email and phone.

By the end of the installation, Scott stopped by to get a check, They don't require downpayment.

Very nice job. Scott was pleasant, responsive, helpful, and courteous. His team did a careful job and cleaned up well. I would gladly use Zen Windows again. The results were great, and the windows are a huge improvement to the house.

As their ad proclaimed, there was an initial brief , no obligation request  for information . This was followed by an easy online & phone intro followed by a home visit for measurements, color choice and estimate by Scott Halle, the owner. He explained the product lines and helped us choose the one that fit our needs. He then left our home and waited for us to contact him.  There was NO pressure to sign or commit to anything ...just an estimate after our meeting which we accepted by e-mail a few weeks later.  Installation of the windows was quick and minimally disruptive. The workmanship was phenomenal and the colors matched PERFECTLY. No painting whatsoever.  Mr. Halle stopped by that day to insure that everything was done properly and that we were pleased. We were & we are!   Purchase included a Limited Life Time Warranty that even covers that condensation that develops between the panes that drives me nuts.  I felt that the cost was somewhat higher than what I expected but so was the quality and value.   Thank you Scott Halle & thank you Zen Windows for a remarkable truly modern product.

Previously I had found Soft-Lite to have high value windows and doors.  When my sliding glass door stopped sliding easily it be came time to replace it.  Zen Windows of DC was one of 2 or 3 installers of this door.  I sent in a set of pictures of the old door both the inside and out along with measurements by e-mail.  That same day he sent back a quote.  Being an Angie's List member he gave me the pricing of the Big Deal  It was a few hundred dollars cheaper than a competitor selling the same door.  I was nervous about the replacement since we had recently painted both inside and outside.  They showed up on time and replaced the door.  The owner stopped by to ensure everything went well.  It looks like somebody waved a wand and one door was magically replaced with the other.  The door was replaced in Oct 2015.  Nearly three months later now the door still looks great, opens and closes smoothly with no water or air leaks.  Very nice craftsmanship.  If you are looking for good pricing and high quality you need not look further.

Owner, measurer and installers were prompt, professional, courteous and responsive. The installers protected my newly installed wood floors and thoroughly cleaned the work area before leaving my premises. Immediately after completing the job, the company owner inspected the installation to ensure job satisfaction before the installers left the worksite.. I am very impressed with this company and the price was reasonable. If I ever need additional replacement windows and/or doors, Zen will get the job.

Very pleased with how the project went.  Workers arrived on time.  Work was done in about 3 hours.  Since the whole frame of the window had to be replaced, I thought I would have to do some touchup painting around the window, but after the windows were installed, no extra painting needed.  Was very happy about that.  Work areas were cleaned up after completion of project.  Showed me the features of the windows and how to use them.  Scott Halle (owner of the company) was a pleasure to work with.  I had received an offer from another window company, Mr. Halle's offer was $1,000 cheaper.  I gave Mr. Halle the measurements of my windows in an email and he quoted me a price via email, no long drawn out demonstrations.  The price he quoted me was the price that I paid at the end of the project.  I would definitely work with Zen Windows again.

II purchased a deal for an energy efficient sliding glass door.  I wanted a door with the blinds inside and Scott gave a quotes for 2 different styles. I made a choice best for me.   I was not able to schedule immediately due to my heavy work load but we were able to arrange an instillation date about a month after the purchase.  I was a little worried that it might not go as planned because so much time had occurred between purchase date and instillation date.  But they came on time and finished the work in about an hour and a half.  They showed me how to use the new door.  And they left the area clean and took away the old door.  Scott arrived when the instillation started and came back when the guys were finished.  It is exactly how business should be done.  I was very happy with the service and will be calling them back when I replace my door and ultimately my windows.

If you want hassle free and low pressure sales, then Zen Windows is your place. I sent an email on a Sunday and within 10 minutes I received a phone call from Scott. He had me take some measurements and that night I had a quote. I updated my requests and he gave me different options to choose from. I had him come to my house so he could see what my requests were. He gave honest opinions and even recommended a sliding door over the french door which was cheaper. Once we finalized the price and order, the company sent out a representative to take the final measurements so that the windows could be made. The windows were completed in two weeks and I picked an install date that was convenient for my schedule (Saturday). On install day, I was surprised that the crew was only two guys, but they completed the job. It took them all day and into the evening. Scott stopped by twice to check on the job. I pointed out a couple of concerns and they fixed them. One issue was when they removed one window, they tore the siding and it had to be caulked several times. The crew did an awesome job in the kitchen area and took their time as not to damage the tile and it looks great. The next morning I saw a couple of minor issues such as a small hole in the screen which has been repaired by a service tech. I highly recommend Zen Windows because they take the stress out of making the purchase. You can google them and read reviews from all over the country and they always receive high ratings. The windows are made in Ohio  and were double pane and do a great job of insulating the house. I don't hear light to moderate rain due to the tight insulation. By far the best experience purchasing a door!  I used to be a windows/siding/door salesman and I know how frustrating it can be to go through this process.  The majority of companies out there want you to be at home so they can pressure sell you.  This was a pleasure from my initial quote request on a Saturday afternoon.  Within 5 minutes Scott (the owner) called me to ask a couple of questions about my request.  Within 10 mins. I had a quote in my hand.  Lucky for me, he had just done some work in my area and he even shared that I would pay less because the color approved by my HOA was cheaper.  Everywhere else, that color was more expensive, so go figure.  Scott provided me with the quote and all the brochures and information I would need to make an informed decision.  No pressure from him and he doesn't even collect any money down until the job is done.  Scott even stopped by a couple of weeks before the job to simply say hello as he was ion the neighborhood.  Scott is an honest business owner who has been on the pressure sales side of the business before.  He decided to be part of a different business model and it will pay for him.  The product that they offer is high end and you can verify it yourself.  When his installers arrived, everything was done in 1.5 hrs if that.   They were professional and thorough.  They moved like a race car pit-stop team.  They made a point to show me several things as they were installing the door.  Scott showed up as he does for all his jobs as well.  He makes sure the install goes as planned and the customer is happy.  I have to say that he has gained a customer for life and I will definitely refer him to as many people as I can.  This is a hassle free transaction and I am a very happy customer.

Installed 14 windows, very good service, windows looks great. Joints around window looks great,
They were nice and they put plastic inside and outside, and hepa vacumed everything.

The experience was very positive - from the initial quote (over the phone) to the final installation.

Our project was complicated by a rigid HOA and matching trim colors to a discontinued brand of trim. Scott, our sales rep went out of his way to help us find a suitable match and get us through this hurdle.

The installation team was prompt and courteous and worked tirelessly throughout the day to complete the installation. They even capped an additional door that was not in the original scope of the project.

Scott was on sight several times throughout the day to make sure the project was progressing and followed up the next day as well.  The level of service has been top notch.

We were looking to replace our French doors with a sliding door that led to our back deck.  We recently joined Angie's List and read the reviews for Zen Windows so I thought I would send them an email.  I received an email back from Scott (owner) within minutes.  I was quite surprised.  I let him know what I was thinking of doing, sent him some photos and rough measurements. Scott sent me some brochures via email and later gave me a quote. I had priced the slider a couple years ago from another larger company so I knew the price quoted was good and less than the other company.  We decided to go ahead with the project and a couple days later a tech showed up, measured the opening and the project was set in place.  I was told the door would be ready in a few weeks.  I couldn't believe that is all I had to do.  I didn't even have to put out a deposit.

Approximately a couple weeks passed and I received another call from Cindy to set up my install date.  I was given a date and a 2 hour time frame when the crew would show up.  On the date of install, Mr. Chong and a couple of his crew actually showed on time, actually a little early.  He was very personable and professional.  I sat and watched as they installed the door.  It was no easy task as they had to do some modifications and adjustments but I could tell they were obviously seasoned professionals. They completed the task without any complications.  They were meticulous in the preparation and clean up.  Scott actually showed up at the house to make sure the project went as expected.  He was very personable and I had a nice conversation with him and he stated he goes to all the installs.  I was impressed.  I don't think  you would get that personalization from a larger company.  I am still amazed that this company doesn't take a down payment and just expects payment in full when the job is done. They even offer financing if needed.  This is a great business model.

My overall experience with Zen Windows went smoothly from beginning to end.  I couldn't be any happier with this company!   I didn't have to sit and listen to a salesman for hours trying to convince me into buying a door or window.  It was easy to order and I  received exactly what I ordered.

If you are looking into putting in a slider or windows, you should do yourself a favor and give Scott an email or call.  I feel you would be foolish not to.  I have had window salesman in my home in the past and somewhat familiar with the types of windows and companies out there.  Trust me, there is no pressure and you can possibly save hundreds or even thousands off your previous quote without any hassles and have an excellent product installed in your home.  When I am ready to install new windows in my home, I won't hesitate to use Zen Windows.  Thank you Angie's List!

Get a quote from ZEN. You will be pleasantly surprised definitely not be disappointed.
We've been researching and quoting windows for about a year and had 5 potential contractors come out to give us a quote. If you think dealing with a used car salesman is bad wait until you quote a window project. High pressure tactics, overstated energy savings, badmouthing and misrepresenting competing products,  2 hour sales pitches and overpriced products that get shuffled and reshuffled into "comfortable monthly payment" plan for the next 200 years at ridiculous rates...we heard them all. While doing more window research on the internet I came across some home improvement forums discussing similar sales nightmares as we were having and then someone mentioned ZEN Windows and their approach to the window projects. I was skeptical, but figured we already survived 5 sales pitches so what's one more? If anything looked wrong, I would  just pull out without wasting more time.
ZEN is everything they say they are and more. I went online, filled out an online form and within minutes I was e-mailing with Scott (the DC area Franchise Owner). He e-mailed me his product brochures and full warranty information that include all the little print, I e-mailed him my window and door measurements and he sent me a complete and very competitive quote that same evening. The price he quoted was so surprising, I thought "there's gotta be a catch, there is going to be something extra thrown in at the end", but no the price did not change from start to finish. In fact it got lower after we switched out some windows for different types. Anyway, we had the windows for two weeks and are very happy. The install took a little longer than expected, but the crew was diligent, neat and the results look great. Out of 29 windows, I have one that is somewhat difficult to open (hence B for quality), but I am sure that ZEN will address it under warranty after I let them know about it.         

Scott was very responsive and helpful. They scheduled things according to my availability, called beforehand, showed up when they said they would, and cleaned up after themselves very well. Very pleased with the service.

Scott and his team were great to work with. All of my questions were answered well ahead of time and the price I would be paying was very clear. The team was very professional, got everything installed fairly quickly, and cleaned everything up behind them. Scott checked in twice to make sure things were going well, which I really appreciated. I will likely use Zen Windows again in the future.

I contacted Scott Halle to get a quote along with several other window companies. He didn't schedule a 90 minute minute with me and demanded that my wife be present like 90% of the other companies did. He walked around my house and got a general idea of what we had, sent me a preliminary quote and literature about the windows.
I asked him a ton of question, including several technical questions about the certifications and materials and he was always quick with the information. I settled on Zen because the windows were simply the best quality, had the best features and the most fair price of any other company. And the experience in working with Scott was great from the first day.
After we scheduled the measurements and lead test (because my house was built in 1057), the window manufacturer reported thatI had lead paint on every window being replaced. I immediately contacted Scott since my windows had been tested on more than one occasion and never showed any signs of this. He agreed to do another test with me on the day of the install and if lead was present, he'd pay half the additional fees. He came by and tested, and it turns out that the manufacturer provided an incorrect report. Then the crew started installing the windows only to discover that 3 of them were the wrong size.
Scott immediately called the manufacturer, complained on my behalf about the false lead reading and the incorrect measurements. During several conversations we had about the situation that day, I asked Scott if one of the incorrectly sized windows might fit the one window I had decided earlier not to replace, but my wife had changed my mind about it. It turned out to be a fit, but when I offered to buy it, Scott gave it to me free of charge as a thank you for my patience with the issues that arrived. He didn't accept a penny until every window was completed 2 weeks later.
Scott was responsive, professional and an absolute honor to work with on this project. He not only sold me exceptional windows without any of the over-the-top presentations and nonsense the other companies take you through, when problems came up, he dealt with them quickly and focused on delivering the best customer service possible.
This was the best experience I've ever had with a company and could not recommend Zen Windows any higher.

From beginning to end very professional. Did the work while I was out of town. Took pictures and kept me posted of all the work. Owner was very responsive and followed through as promised. Came home and really would not have known that they were here. Have great new windows. Would recommend them highly. Good service, great windows!
