Two Men and a Truck

It went poorly. I was told packing materials would be included in the job ( I was quoted $262 for the job - the hourly rate being $165). I provided the dimensions of the room, indicated we had a full pantry and cabinets to be packed. The packers showed up without boxes or packing material and had to go back out for materials. I was unable to personally supervise the pack due to the delay, so I can just comment on the results. I was charged $427 because they went past their time estimate. First, they ran out of boxes - so they bagged up my pots and pans in trash bags and left wine glasses and barware on the floor of my living room. I was surprised to see that they used more boxes than they had estimated for a typical kitchen until I began opening the boxes and found that none were more than 1/2 full, many were just 1/4 full. But worse, there wasn't a single piece of padding or packing material used. Glasses were placed in the boxes unprotected. I had a stack of plates with cardboard dividers next to the plates on one shelf. Rather than using the material I had available and ready, they packed they put the plates in the box unprotected and put the stack of cardboard in another box. They put bottles of oil and vinegar on their sides in the boxes. One box had two ceramic bottles of tequila on their side and a stack of china bowls on top of them. I contacted the manager about the issue and sent pictures of the contents of the boxes. I heard nothing in reply for the next 3.5 weeks despite calling at least 8 times and getting assurances from staff that he would call me back. When we finally touched base he said he had been busy and was only willing to credit me $150. He finally agreed to honor the initial quote, which frankly is still too much for the service delivered. It was only by sheer luck that nothing was broken.
