Tile Center

Overall, I have to say that they did an excellent job. I was a bit worried about some leaking with the new shower head, but that was just the teflon tape settling and it seems fine now (August--I had the work done in January). The tiling job was first rate! My only complaint is that they did a poor job of communicating when a given contractor was going to arrive to do a portion of the job.

The quality of work was excellent, with close attention paid to every detail. Joe did a great job with the planning/monitoring aspects of the job, including measuring and assisting in remodeling ideas. Kim was also very helpful in making sure the job was progressing well. The actual work was carried out in an exceptional manner by the plumber, Fred, and the tile craftsmen, Adelmar and James. They were all very personable and helpful. They worked diligently every day to get the job done in an expeditious manner (even though the amount of time exceeded the original estimate, we were not concerned since we knew that the extra time was being taken to assure that the quality of work and the finished product was perfect). We definitely plan on using the Tile Center again for any future remodeling work.

The job went very well overall. The time-frame described to us is essentially what happened. There weren't any surprises with regard to how long the process would take. There are a couple of minor issues that they are going to address this week, but overall the process went very smoothly and we Thank Eddie Tirani for all of his help with design and execution.

Wonderful service! I live out of state but I have used Tile Center before in this house and was very pleased with their work. When it was time to re-do floors, I called them. They helped me with carpet, replaced vinyl kitchen flooring, and repaired some laminate that had been damaged by dogs. They also re-finished and repaired hardwood floors to make them shine like new! This company is professional, the staff are unfailingly courteous, and I feel completely comfortable that they will do a professional job that I will be happy with, whenever I need them.

He made plenty of suggestions and really took the time to make sure I understood my options. I may still use him, if he fits the scope of the project. He was willing to cross state lines to accommodate my needs.

The work Tile Center did was wonderful. We had used them before for a bathroom remodeling job and a new tile floor in the kitchen, so we were expecting good service and good results. We were not disappointed. The two jobs were scheduled separately. The workers came on time for the bathroom floor work. They removed the old flooring and put in the underlayment and new tile in one day. But we were not pleased with how the tile was laid out because there were slight imperfections where the tile was cut for the fixtures and slight gaps along the wall. These imperfections would have not been noticeable once the fixtures and baseboard were installed, but the work was not as good as we expected. We asked to have a foreman come out and review the work. He did and agreed the work was not as it should be. The foreman himself came back the next day and redid the entire floor. It was perfect and we felt we had now gotten the quality of service we expected from them. For the carpeting, we got a great price on the material and the installation. The workers came when they were expected and set up quickly and efficiently. Because we were carpeting several areas of the house they were working in multiple rooms at the same time. We were still clearing out boxes and furniture from one room but they worked around that area until we were ready. We encountered unexpected problems clearing out furniture in another room so they could not carpet that room that day. They left the carpet and padding for the room with us and came back another day to finish the work once we had corrected our problem. The foreman and workers were always professional and the final result was beautiful.

Based upon store displays, I bought tile for my sun porch from Tile Center. When the tile arrived, the manufacturer had changed the color scheme, and I was very disappointed with the new color variation -- but the Tile Center salesperson, Eddie, went right to work finding boxes from past shipments that matched the colors as I'd planned. We were under a very tight time frame because subcontractor was waiting for tile. Eddie personally delivered tiles to make sure that I got the correct color and quantity for my project. Tile boxes of exact match were delivered on time due to extraordinary effort by Tile Center. I am most pleased with their attention to customer service and quality control.

The did a floor in my walkout basement and a backsplash in my kitchen. I am very happy with the work and they always called me right back. They were always on time, and even once I had to leave the house once and they worked around my schedule, which is so unusual but very nice and understanding of them. The were very accomodating and I am so happy with the final product.

First of all, we bought an Angie's Big Deal sponsored by the Tile Center. Eddie Tirani came to our home to see the small bathroom and discussed options with us, measured, gave some ideas. He also brought some tile samples and then invited us to come to the store. During that first visit, he called one of their very skilled workmen who came and investigated a wall within the shower that we always thought hid a large vent. It turned out to just be a wire, so we decided to move the wall back and enlarge the shower. We could then add a seat. When we visited the store, Eddie sketched out the plans, we finalized the tile choices and the price. On the day the work was scheduled to begin, the very pleasant workmen showed up at 8am, lined their path with paper and began. They worked cleanly and quietly. Every day they left the premises clean. At some point we needed some plumbing done. Their plumber arrived to linstall the shower and fixed the pipes - for an extra charge of about $400.00. An electrician also worked on the job and everyone - plumber, electrician, tiler and supervisor - was highly skilled, courteous and efficient. The young man who laid the tile did a perfectly beautiful job.The old bathroom floor was set with concrete, and that all had to be ripped out. All new concrete was poured. We had a small wall removed and a wall moved back. The shower is tiled completely, including the ceiling and a mosaic band around the wall looks very pretty. The bathroom floor is tiled in a coordinating floor tile. It is truly beautiful. Eddie would stop by occasionally to see the progress. The job took approximately 2 weeks, some days had to be dedicated to allow applications to dry. We enjoyed meeting with Eddie. My husband and I were able to install the glass sliding doors and the new efficient toilet and replace the vanity. It is a beautiful little room now. We would definitely recommend the Tile Center.

We have used them in the past, and they did an excellent job. They are knowledgeable. They were efficient, clean and neat.

The initial visit to the showroom was great since we met Joe. Then Joe came out to our house to do measurement and to further finish our design. He emailed us proposals and drawings along the way. Finally the installers arrived and installed the tile over two days.

The salesperson and designer came to our house to take measurements and talk to us about what we were looking for in a kitchen redesign. We already had 2 main ideas with specific details and even gave them floor-plans from our house and pictures from an almost identical kitchen remodeling job. We talked about cabinets and the salesperson recommended Casablanca, which fit our design. He told us that Tile Center kept them in stock and that using stocked cabinets would help our final pricing. The salesman then tried to get us to give him a check for $900 to " hold a place on the schedule" which we declined to do. The designer didn't hear much of what we'd said because she spent most of her time at our house measuring. Of course we expected the salesperson, who did all of the talking and questioning, to tell her what our needs and ideas were, but he apparently did not or the design that was ready when we came to the showroom a week later would probably have incorporated them. When we got to the Tile Center the salesman handed us a design that was not what we had asked for and didn't solve ANY of our kitchen problems, actually made them worse. While we were there, the designer was throwing something together that was based on the pictures we gave them of another project. The salesman told us that the designer had a wonderful design put together at home but that her computer had crashed and she was reconstructing it from memory. Right, and the dog ate my homework. My husband and I had both taken time off work for this appointment. If the designs were not ready they should have called us and rescheduled, not wasted our time. While we were waiting for the design to be "reconstructed" the salesman decided it was time to try to "up sell" us to more expensive cabinets. (We had no design but he was trying to sell cabinets!) He started by saying, "Of course the Casablanca cabinets are not solid wood. We talked about that when I was at your home." Well, no he did not tell us that the cabinets were some kind of conglomerate with wood glued to the outside, and I'm quite sure that he knew he hadn't told us. From what we saw at the Gaithersburg showroom it appeared that the Tile Center probably does mostly bathroom jobs. They had lots of sample bathrooms to show and much less for kitchens. I have no idea what the quality of their workmanship is like and because their failure to turn our ideas and needs into a design in a timely manner and their pushy sales routine we are unlikely to use them in the future.

My husband contacted the tile center after I forwarded him them Angie's list big deal. A woman came out to do the estimate , not sure who she was. She said the person who usually does the estimates couldn't come. We tried to explain to her that we needed the interior of the shower rebuilt because the contractor who installed it did a horrible job. Our entire bathroom is done with the same tile. We explained to her that the inside of the shower can be completely different from the rest of the bathroom but the wall near the shower can not be mismatched. She didn't seem to hear us or understand what we were talking about. She took her deminsons and left. She told my husband she would get back to him with a written estimate, instead she called after the period of time she said she would get back us and read the estimate over the phone!? We never received a written copy. Their estimate for the demo and re tiling of our shower was 5k. I have no confident in this company. Wonder who wrote their reviews because the experience we have had with them has been a mess. We will not be selecting them to do our work. On December 9, 2011 we received an email proposal for $8,000.00 seriously! That is highway robbery! The shower is 3x5 feet.... Crazy. If this company is rated well on Angie's list I have to seriously question the value of this list and those who contribute to it.

We expected to replace our wall-to-wall carpeting with something similar but didn't rule out other products. We inquired about wood laminate but didn't like the texture. Frank showed us a British product, Karndean Knight Tile wood plank which is a vinyl product. It was much more like our existing wood floors in feel and appearance. We chose it, had it priced, and scheduled a date for installation. The two installers removed the existing carpeting, installed a plywood subfloor, then installed the new floor. They took great care to assure the subfloor was even and smooth before laying the 36" x 4" vinyl planks. Quarter round molding and threshold strips completed the job. The existing wood thresholds were finished with a coat of polyurethane and the seams in the vinyl floor in an adjoining room were sealed. The team that was here were professional, extremely competent, and pleasant. The completed floor surpassed our expectations, looking like a wood floor and not a synthetic. Our experience with Tile Center was all positive and we will definitely select the company for future work.

This was a total bathroom remodel.. I would recommend Tile Center to anyone. They came when they said they would. The estimate was accurate and timely. Joe my designer had great ideas which I adopted. The construction crew were professional and great to work with. The tiling (and everything else) was meticulous. They cleaned up everyday and were very thoughtful about controlling the mess and protecting my furniture even with a major demo. On budget, no surprises. One of the best contractors with whom I have ever worked. just can't say enough. AAA+

Just one addition, the salesman actually called the warehouse a second time after having been told they didn't have the tiles and then called me at home to tell me the good news that they had found them. I had left the store under the impression that the tiles could not be obtained and so was delighted that they were available afterall.

Owner was very helpful recommending tile, designs and accent tile for backsplash. Pattern,size, and style/color of tile looks great in this 20x10 long kitchen. Job scheduling required their patience as we ordered appliances, faucets, and lighting separately. Work was done very timely and efficiently. Tile Center minimized downtime of laundry room, only requiring a couple of days of the W/D being unavailable. There was some communication issues with the Tile Center sales rep, but he was very polite and attentive. The tile workers were great, taking the time to lay out the tiles to line up well with door thresholds and grout job was also good. Job was kept extremely clean and organized. I would recommend them to friends and neighbors.

Tile Center is amazing and I could not be happier with the new shower and flooring. Everyone who worked on the job was punctual, professional, and courteous. My bathroom was designed by Eddie Tirani, the project manager. He has great vision on how to design a bathroom and helped us picked out beautiful tile. His eye for coordinating different tiles is perfect and his suggestions on a shower seat and shower niche, which did not add much to the cost, made the shower look like it belonged in Architectural Digest. Eddie is very attentive to the client's wishes. I wanted the job to start immediately and be finished in 10 days. Not a small request, nor one many companies would agree to or abide by. I was delighted that Eddie squeezed my project in to an already tight time frame. He had his men start two days later and the whole bathroom was completed in 9 days! The men even offered to work through Labor Day weekend to get the job completed on time. I have never worked with a company before that was so accommodating. Kim Young, the chief installer, was terrific, too. He kept everything running smoothly, came daily to check on the work, and when I had questions, he always promptly returned my calls -- including during the holiday weekend. He wanted to make sure that I was pleased every day and every step of the way, and I could not have expected more. Denis, Ivan and Adelman were the installers. Calling them installers is probably inaccurate, as they were more artists than installers. They truly prided themselves on how the job was done, making sure that all the tile was perfectly aligned and the shower was properly sloped. They wanted my input from the very beginning, making sure that the shower niche was where I wanted it and the shower seat was the correct height and shape. They were extremely courteous and a pleasure to work with. They always showed up on time and even asked to work through Labor Day to get the job done on time. They also wanted to make sure that no dust or damage would be done to the house, so they completely covered the work site and laid down protective flooring. They were immaculate and cleaned up every day before they left, even knowing that they would return in 12 hours. By the time they completed the shower and flooring, it was absolutely beautiful, and they left my house cleaner than it was before they arrived! When the shower was complete, Fred, the plumber, came to finish the job and replace the toilet, which had carefully been removed to tile the floor. Not only did he do a great job, but he also noticed in another bathroom that the toilet bar was broken and that the handle on the toilet was falling off. He actually asked me if it would be okay to fix them. I have never worked before with a company that actually asked to work through their holiday weekend and to fix minor repairs on things they did not need to fix. Tile Center deserves a A+++ rating. They are the only company I would ever go to to get a bathroom remolded. And I would specifically request the same team that was used for my job. They put the meaning back in "customer satisfaction" and "the customer comes first." Even after the installation, Eddie called to make sure that I was pleased with the workmanship and service. While most companies put you on hold or don't return calls, to actually get a call to ask if everything was done to my satisfaction was surprisingly refreshing. The Tile Center greatly exceeded my expectations. They are a great company offering exceptional quality and service at a great price. What more could anyone want?

Contract was signed in late June. The price was was lower than if we had the work done by separate contractors (ceramic tile, shower door glass, and cabinet company). We waited approximately 5 weeks for cabinets to be built. Installation took place over a 2 week period. The work was perfect. The company employees were courteous and efficient. We are delighted with the work.

My bathroom is finally done except for a few minor fixes. Work was delayed twice because of wrong materials received. Alternative shower arrangements had to continue longer than I planned. I guess I could have eliminated the delays by checking material delivery more closely. This was my first major rennovation project. I wanted it to go smoothly, and thought I had covered any potential problems, but still had delays. I wish the contractor had kept me more informed about what to expect and what was going on. If I had to do it again I would have all the material delivered for my inspection before work started. Workers were timely, responsive and professional when there were no materials delays.

He came out the same afternoon. The estimate was pretty detailed.

It went extremely well. The workmen arrived early, worked continuously and carefully for as long as it took and left the work area clean each day. Mr. Jang was especially careful, and the end result was beautiful.

The Tile Center did an excellent job installing the DuraStone tile. I would recommend them to all my friends. Just the other day, I and a friend of mine was admiring the job they did, specifically how they fit the floor molding around the kitchen island. It is very hard to find this kind of workmanship today, simply beautiful and so precise.

They were a very reputed firm and did a quality job. I liked their services and will use the same in future.
