Stang Plumbing

I have waited to post this review because I needed to wait until the spring for all the results of the job. I had requested that the plumber replaces valves in two Toto toilets and replace my outside faucet which leaked. Instead, the plumber replaced the valve in one toilet, realigned a fill valve in the other toilet and told my husband that the outside faucet should not be fixed until the winter was over. My husband says the guy was informative and instructive. The plumber was such a good teacher that after the fill valve on the Toto toilet that the plumber was supposed to have fixed broke, my husband was able to fix it. That was 2 weeks after the plumbing visit. There is a basic fee required to have Stang plumbing out, so i was not happy that my husband had to do the work that I felt should have been done. When Spring came, my husband knew how to replace the valve on the outside faucet, but the the entire assembly is so old, it leaks. We can buy a replacement faucet but again, my husband will be doing the work that I wanted done by Stang plumbing. So, I have a very mixed reaction to the whole episode.

The plumber was professional, courteous and responsive.

All of the staff from Stang was very professional, helpful and punctual in scheduling our appointment. They spent time evaluating the issue, snaked the drain with a camera, inspected pipes and replaced piping that was deteriorating. We were assured the situation was fixed. This was Thursday-- Easter Sunday (two days later) we woke up to more poop in our basement... when we called Stang back to indicate that the situation had not been fixed, while the person on the phone was apologetic... they told us that we should call WSSC (we already had... no one else is having problems). They also told us that to come back out it would be a $430 service call and $330 per hour.... I understand it was Easter.. and an emergency but there was no offer to come look at it after assuring us it had been fixed (they were happy to take our $500 though), no offer to come even the next day... no indication they'd back up their work and come out to see what they might have missed... we were forced to cancel our plans to host Easter Sunday and spent it disinfecting our basement and cleaning up sewage... again. Obviously we were very disappointed.

It went well. They were good. They came in and they were very prompt. They fixed everything just like they were supposed to, I was pleased with their service.

Two weeks later and I have not received an estimate or any further contact, which is unfortunately not that unusual in construction but doesn't make me want to pursue business with the company. Employee also showed some lack of knowledge about how to meet specific objectives, which other plumbers had good ideas about.

Stang did an excellent job in all aspects. This was a rental property of ours and Stang coordinated every with our renter and communicated every detail to us by email. They were very easy to deal with and we would certainly use them again.

We had been having problems with the kitchen sink draining for several weeks. When I turned on the newly-installed disposal (installed by a different plumber), the water would go down the drain, but when I turned the disposal off, the water was "regurgitated" back into the sink. The problem became gradually worse, until last week, the water was standing in the sink, and took at least 30 minutes to drain. I called Stang Plumbing after hours on Thursday afternoon, left a message with the answering service, describing the problem and that I had found them through Angie's List. I was called at about 10:00am the next morning (Friday), telling me that he could have someone out at about 11:00. They were here by about 11:20am that day. The plumber, Chris, was very friendly, answered all my questions as he worked, and left the problem fixed and the area clean. He snaked the drain with what he had, and when that didn't do the job, someone else brought him a longer snake, which did the trick. The clog was apparently about 30 feet from the kitchen sink, but he went ahead and continued to snake the entire length the equipment would allow (50 feet, I believe). He explained that it probably was located near the bathroom, which was on the same floor. We were not charged for the time he had to wait on the delivery of the longer snake. He also recommended that I pour 1 cup white vinegar in a sinkful of hot water, and let it drain at once, twice a month, to keep the buildup from reoccurring. I had mentioned that we had occasional problems with the toilet flushing completely (in the bathroom where he thought the clog was near). He asked if I wanted him to check that out, and when I declined, he was very gracious and did not press the issue. I used an Angie's List voucher for $40. Everything was itemized on the invoice, so I could see exactly how I was charged. He had been called by his company to let him know about taking $40 off the total shortly after he'd arrived. I was amazed that they were able to come out so quickly, and that he fixed the problem so quickly. The cost wasn't bad, either. I am very happy with the result, would use them again, and would definitely recommend them!

Plumber was on time and professional. He placed mat on kitchen floor so it would not get dirty. He was knowledgeable and friendly. He did the work very efficiently. Had me test the faucet and disposal to be sure it worked at the end. Price was about what I expected. The office staff was also very informative when scheduling, so I would know what to expect and what their pricing is. So I had no surprizes. I will definitely use them again!

.Late in the afternoon I noticed our water pressure was dropping and our presssure tank was empty (we have a well). I called the plumbing company we had used for almost 20 years and was told "we're getting ready to close for the day and can't send someone out for at least two days". They suggested I call another company (?!). I called Stang, got the on-call tech who said there wasn't much they could do at night but would send someone out the next day. That morning we had no water at all. Stang sent Sean in the early aftrernoon and he and his assistant pulled the well pump, replaced it, and then advised we replace the pressure tank (had to be ordered) but meanwhile we had our water back. Tank was replaced a week or so later. The guys from Stang were very professional, pleasant, and even my phone contacts with the office went smoothly. I used them again a few weeks later to replace a shower valve. My only "minor" concern was that the pressure tank was made by the same company that makes wellxtrol but was a slightly different "brand" with a somewhat shorter warranty. Hopefully won't make a difference. Would definitely continue to use Stang.

They arrived right on time and did the job. No problems at all. He was fine to deal with. Would use then again.

Quickly, professionally and good value.

Stang called because as we had one faucet in the house not working, pipes frozen. Two men came to the house. They cut several holes in the wall to access pipes to determine the area where the pipes were frozen. The cuts are very uneven and jagged. They indicated they had narrowed down the area where the pipes were frozen but could not determine if pipes were cracked, damaged and if this was not fixed when the pipes thawed I could have massive and expensive water damage. They recommended replacing both hot and cold water pipes for that area, which would entail cutting out and replacing the pipes. This would also include cutting a heating duct located between the hot and cold water pipes. They indicated they could not fix the heating duct and once cut, I would need to have another company come out to do that. They did not suggest but I requested that they heat up the pipes first to locate the site of damage due to freezing. They indicated the only thing they had to heat the pipes up was blow torch which could start a fire in the house. I volunteered my blow dryer which they used to heat up the pipes. After the pipes were warmed up and the water turned on they determined there was no damage to the pipes! So cutting and replacing the pipes, as well as, cutting the heating duct was not totally not necessary. Serious problem that the customer had to propose to experienced plumbers the simplest and least costly solution to the problem which is why I gave them an F. My blow dryer was not working properly after this, Stang promptly paid the replacement cost at my request. Note: we previously used Stang for a problem with our hot water heater and were very pleased with their service, it was timely, efficient and economical.

I bought the coupon, but they couldn't come when I needed them. They are very nice and is not mad.

Called Stang Plumbing on Sunday to speak about an issue and spoke to a plumber over the phone who said the problem could wait another day. I called again Monday and scheduled an appointment. All in all it was a good experience and I would use them again in the future should another issue arise.

The garbage disposal is great and the guy who came out was really nice. He saved me some money and we talked about the different products that he had available. He had two different types of disposals with him and he gave me a really good deal. I have not had any trouble at all since he did the service but I am not sure how much the service ended up costing.

Time after time their work has been excellent.

Everything was great. There was a problem with the alignment of hoses underneath the sink and they came right back the next day and took care of it with no additional charge.

Not up front on total cost. $40 discount but they charge you $179 for the first hour and $44.75 for each 15 min. Basically you get less than 15 min free.

Our hot water heater started leaking so we figured it was time to replace it. I called after 4pm on a Monday and was able to get an 8am appt for Tuesday. The technician arrived on time and confirmed the heater needed to be replaced. We discussed the option of replacing it with a 50-gallon heater; he gave me pros and cons and I opted to go with the 80-gallon unit. He quoted a price and gave me the option of buying the hot water heater myself to see if we could save some money (but there was no way I could get one back to our home, so I declined that offer <vbg>). He went back to the office to get the replacement tank, but unfortunately, they didn't have one so he had to get one from another distributor. Once he arrived back at our home, installation went very smoothly. He cleaned up the area before leaving and it looked good. He answered some questions before he left. The final cost was what he quoted. He originally said it would take about 2 hrs to complete the job, and it took 2.5 hrs since he had to make an extra stop to get the replacement heater. I rated the price as B only b/c I have no idea if we really got an A price.

We called Stang Plumbing on a snowy Tuesday evening and they sent someone out the next afternoon. Chris was very thorough and looked at all possible causes for the leak. He went straight to work and was very professional. It was fixed in under two hours and he explained everything to us as he was working. Very happy and would definitely recommend!

Two plumbers showed up one plus a helper. They settled in right away, the plumber installed a new faucet for us (we purchased it separately) and the help fixed leaking toilet and slow drain. Very professional, no mess, polite, and on time. Really pleased, would definitely recommend them and will use them again.

I have a large aquarium, and I was wanting a hose hookup under my kitchen sink so that I would not have to carry buckets of water. He looked under my kitchen sink. Told me that the hose bibs had to be specially ordered. (When I made the appointment, I told the woman what I was wanting done.) He told me about some other possible options. Granted I had an unusual request, so I'm not upset about the work not being done. What I am upset about is he was here 20 mins, was not able to do anything, and still charged me $180. Outrageous!!! Will not use again!!!

Problem started the late afternoon of New Year's Eve, so the office was already closed for the holiday. I got a call back from the person on-call. To save me the expense of holiday rates, he stayed on the phone with me and instructed me what to check to ascertain whether the problem could wait until after the holiday to be fixed. It was, so I was able to save a lot of money by having a scheduled service early on Jan 2nd. The plumber arrived on time (actually a little early) and worked quickly and efficiently. I also appreciate that Stang employees, besides being very courteous and professional, put "booties" over their shoes in order to not track dirt into my home. I have been using Stang for years for only one service (maintaining my whole house water filtering system), but am now using them for all plumbing needs since buying an Angie's List Big Deal.

They did a repair job for my rental and the tenant was very happy with the work - clean, professional and punctual

Stang got us back working in record time in the middle of the coldest night of the year!!!
