Presidential Heating & Air Conditioning

The compressor motor failure was quickly isolated. Replacement compressor motor was on truck. Part was quickly replaced and AC line was tested, Refrigerant was low so tech added additional refrigerant. Work areas were kept clean and orderly. Job competed expeditiously.. The service tech was very thorough and professional. He completely explained what he did and explained the billing costs.

Well. They did the initial inspection ($79.95) and found black mold in the AC. They were able to order the UV light and come back by the end of the week to install the light and union to clean the drain ($373). Technician and administrative staff professional.

I ended up replacing the whole system. They only provided a temporary fix.

Presidential Heating and A/C was extremely responsive once I contacted them. A service technician was dispatched and at my house within 2 hours. (I was not under a service contract.) I received a phone call to let me know that the technician was on his way from his previous job. Aaron the service technician was professional and courteous and quickly diagnosed that my problem was do to a dirty filter. He evaluated the inside and outside units to make sure that the ice had melted and that the system was performing within reasonable performance bounds. He rechecked the outside unit one last time before he left after we had run the system for a few minutes to ensure no further immediate ice buildup was occurring. I ended up signing a service contract with Presidential as I have not had this HVAC serviced in over 5 years and I was impressed with Presidential's responsiveness and knowledge of the technician.

Presidential installed my entire HVAC system back in 2002. At the time, they beat all the other estimates. Their service was professional, and the entire system has been working great for the last 13 years. No problems at all. In fact, I haven't even had the system serviced, at all in that entire time. Of course, all mechanical systems break down eventually, and that happened this weekend. I called Presidential first thing this morning (Monday morning). The lady who answered the phone was courteous and friendly. She said that someone would be out this afternoon. They called me a couple of hours later and said that a tech would be in the area this morning if we were available, and I asked her to send him right over. He stopped by, diagnosed, and fixed the problem in well under an hour. The tech was professional, courteous, and friendly. And he didn't even mind the fact that our dog wanted to supervise, and our cat was keeping a sharp eye on him. I'll be sticking with Presidential!

I called for an estimate on replacing my A/C unit and coil which had a leak. The Carrier A/C unit was manufactured in 2004 and was fine but it made sense to replace it along with the coil. In addition, I advised that my lineset was likely undersized and should be replaced. Since I have a construction background and know what these units cost (wholesale & retail), I knew approx what my investment would be including labor and allowing for their profit margin. It was a matter of a reputable company providing a reasonable estimate that guaranteed them their profit margin and me a quality appliance and first class workmanship. Unfortunately, while my salesperson was courteous and professional, and I didn't take offense to his questioning my knowledge even though I suspect if I were a man, he wouldn't, when I objected to their overall proposal and the fact that they wanted to flush out the old R22 which has been phased out by the EPA and mixing the new 410A could damage the new Carrier unit if the old R22 wasn't completely flushed out and I wanted the lines replaced, they wouldn't tell me what size line they would install and said, if it needed it, it would be an additional $300. All other contractors provided a lineset change from 5/8 to somewhere between 3/4 to 7/8. By the way, I called Carrier directly and confirmed they do not recommend cleaning out/flushing out R22 and putting in 410A in existing linesets. While it can be done, its a risk to your system if the chemicals mix. So, this revision would take their $5824 proposal to $6124. Unreasonable for just a A/C unit and coil and new lineset. After I sent back my marked up proposal from them noting what I expected the overall project (new A/C, coil, condensation pump and lineset) to be $5500, the salesperson, Wayne Shenk, called me back to tell me they weren't even going to respond to what I sent based on his conversation with the owner. I thanked them for the call and forever have marked them off the list of HVAC companies I would use. So, I ended up going with one of the top 3 Carrier approved dealers, which Presidential isn't even listed on their site for Washington, DC. Cost: $4600. Thank you Presidential for not taking my business.

I contacted Presidential to diagnose the issue with air conditioning unit that was not working. There was water all over the area surrounding the furnace with water also dripping from the sides of the evaporator coil cover area. The tech was quick to diagnose that the main issue was the fact that R22 was low. I was led to believe this would resolve the problem with non-functioning air conditioning unit. Thus, I agreed that R22 should be added to the air conditioning unit. However, after 13 days, i noticed that the air conditioning unit was not functioning properly and that there was water all over the area surrounding the furnace. I thus notified the Company and was given an estimate of $678 to identify the leak, and to repair the leak for an estimate of $2,006. I thought this was not reasonable and thus contacted a different company to resolve the issue with my air conditioning. I was able to find a company that was able to clean the condensate line and also performed a check in the evaporator coil area to make sure the water was draining correctly. My air conditioning unit is now working properly after having to spend a fraction of what it would have cost if i had decided to use Presidential. The most important get away is the fact that the techs for Presidential should spend more time to properly diagnose the problem.

My AC went out at 7PM Sunday night. I called at 7:30AM on the dot Monday morning after finding these guys on Angie's list. I had a tech at my home at 9:20AM, <2 hours later. They had originally booked me for 1PM, but were able to bump me up, which was fantastic. He (Anthony) Diagnosed a faulty capacitor in <10 minutes, had a replacement in the truck, and got me back online in another 20 minutes. Just in time for this 95 degree day. I'm very thankful they came out and were able to repair so quickly! I should also mention, this was a roof-mounted compressor, which didn't slow him down at all. Terri and Gena in customer service were very friendly and professional, too. Sent me invoice by email. I will definitely use them again.

It was really nice dealing with Gina to set up an appointment. However, what I thought was going to take maybe a couple of hundred of dollars turned out to be well over $800. I went with Presidential after hearing all the good reviews from Angie's List. Boy, was I wrong from a cost perspective. I paid $79.95 on Angie's List for an inspection, but it turned out that the 2nd AC system had an electrical issue and I was charged an additional $79.75 for diagnostic. The R410A cost $159.25 for the first pound, and 122.58 for each subsequent pound. I needed 4 pounds, which came out to be $526.99! Amazon sells a 25lb canister of R410A refrigerant for $107. What a markup by Presidential!!! The fuse replacement was $33.52! Now it could be that all Heating and AC companies charge this type of rate, but I find it ridiculous that they charge this type of markup. I was also charged $100 to have the coil cleaned, which is really just a hose down of the coil. I'm disappointed with the cost, but like I said, I suspect all Heating and AC service companies charge this type of rate.

Our air conditioning was broken and we had a day and night with no a/c. I called the company that has serviced our system and after initially promising a quick call out as per our contract, then came back and said it would be several days. I called Presedential based on their AL ratings. They were at the house within a few hours. The engineer was helpful and expert. He diagnosed the problem as a broken motor and the company went to extraordinary lengths to source an unusual part so that we could have the A/c unit working again. Needless to say we have moved our contract to Presidential.

Background -- My air conditioning was not blowing cool air. The unit outside was not working. On Friday (July 17) I called my service agreement company. They sent someone out and the technician told me that my service agreement would not be honored because the coils were dirty and there were wood chips around my unit. I live in a condo/townhome community so I don't have much control over the wood chips. However, I will mention this at the next homeowners meeting. The technician said that the capacitor was blown and I would probably need to replace the motor for the fan. The contractor they sent out was willing to repair my unit but only if I got the capacitor and the motor on the fan repaired and lifted the unit higher off the ground all at once. They quoted me $2,000 and said they could not come back out until Monday. They also wanted me to go with them for my service agreement on my HVAC system. He also pushed to get me to agree to purchase a new unit.... So, I jumped on Angie's List and found Presidential Heating and Air and was impressed with their reviews. I left an email on Friday. They were closed, it was after hours. So, I called them Saturday morning noting that they were open on Saturday. My fingers were crossed. Guess what, they answered and someone was sent out within a couple of hours. My house was hot and the air started to get heavy, even with fans running. I had actually started looking for a hotel to spend the night. The technician Juan checked my unit out and found that it was a bad capacitor and the wires were shorted. My unit was repaired in 30 minutes -- tops. It was recommended to do a full diagnostic of my system soon and a service contract was also mentioned. I am a very very happy and cool customer. My experience was awesome from start to finish. The communication was outstanding. They called to let me know when the technician was on his way as they indicated they would. The technician was very professional, explained everything to me. I will be calling on Monday to set up a complete diagnostic for my system and to talk about a service agreement. Juan let me know it would take time for my home to cool off. I appreciated that. I highly recommend Presidential Heating & Air Conditioning. I was charged 70.00 for after hour diagnostic but it would have cost more. They honored my Angie's deal and discount. I was stressed, but from the first contact my stress started melting away. Thank you for the awesome and professional service you provided.

Called in the afternoon they were there the next morning. showed us the exact problem. A little confusion about when they would return with the parts. All went well.

The work was thorough and they provide me with all the details to help me decide on what repairs are needed.

It went well. The tech arrived on time and performed a thorough check of the system. He was able to show me a control for my humidifier that I had not previously notice and now I feel like I might not need to run an extra humidifier in the winter, plus I enter the summer months with confidence that my A/C should last through this season at least.

I bought the coupon offered on Angie's list for a service inspection. I was contacted very quickly to have it scheduled and the service man came out 2 days later. The reason for the call was because the pump was not cooling. The service man identified the problem as a txv issue. Basically, it froze up. I asked if it was an expensive repair and he said he wasn't sure, that came from his manager. I waited close to a week and received no follow up. I finally called to request the estimate, but it was not available. I got a phone message the following day that the repair would cost approx $2200. No written estimate, no break down of charges and no follow up by email or phone on what options they could offer. Really disappointing because the original response was so prompt. I got the feeling that the "estimate" was a "guess" pulled out of thin air. Not comfortable doing additional business with this company.

They come every six months to do inspection and replaced the air conditioning system.

We were very pleased with the service. The woman (I believe her name was Fayana?) who took my call to schedule the service was quite personable and professional and asked good questions to determine what we needed. We were scheduled for a 10:00 am to 1:00 pm window - better than so many services where it's a four-hour block or even longer. Unfortunately, the job ahead of ours wound up taking much longer than anticipated, so I think our technician didn't get to our house until close to 3:00 pm, but it was okay, we were home anyway. The operator called us to make sure it was okay and kept us posted as to the timing. That's the only reason I gave them a B for punctuality, but we totally understood sometimes these things happen. I can't say how they would have dealt with it if we couldn't wait past 1:00 pm, hopefully they would have accommodated us given the inconvenience. It does take a while to get an appointment - I think I called about three weeks before the date we got (although I requested a specific day of the week, so it might have been quicker if I hadn't). Our technician, Aaron, was very professional and knowledgeable and patient. In addition to performing the inspection, he walked through the house with us and gave us some tips for how to regulate the temperature in our house. He also fixed a problem with a leaky pipe attached to our air handler. He recommended signing up for a full service contract, which includes two yearly inspections and discounts on any work that needs to be done. He didn't do a hard sell, though, so we didn't feel pressured. We did sign up for the contract, and he applied the $79 I had already paid to the cost (the contract is a good deal, essentially the same price as if you bought two individual inspections, plus the discounts, plus they send you reminder postcards for when you should have your systems inspected, which I very much need).

That went very well. It was a fair price. They were very prompt. He was there for probably about an hour. He's very helpful. I would definitely use them.

The technician was helpful and willing to answer my many questions. I appreciated his help and prompt responses. The company needed to check to see if the part that was not working was still under warranty. I did have to call them back to get the information, but once the contact was made the responsiveness was quite prompt. We are still deciding how to proceed, but were pleased with the initial work that was completed.

Presidential was able to provide same day service which was amazing considering it was a very warm Friday afternoon. Craig showed up on time and was able to identify the problem quickly which turned out to be a coolant leak. Extremely happy with the service and will call again when needed.

Great. On time service, helpful technician who described what he saw, made recommendations, etc. We signed up for the annual HVAC maintenance plan.

It went well. AC broke. I called. Person was bery helpful. Suggested i could save money by purchasing Angie's coupon. Tech came out. Diagnosed problem. Part was ordered and installed the next day.
