Very well - very professional, gave good advice during the selection process, and so far we have been very pleased with the shutters.

They did a very good job overall. Visiting their showroom helped us decide what type of shutters to install and they showed us some custom options that weren't available from other dealers. The price was very competitive. The shutters were installed within the time period agreed upon and the fit and finish of the shutters was excellent. I would definately recommend them.

Karen Gresh (showroom) and John Gresh (measurement) explained the different options, provided suggestions, and answered all my questions in a very professional manner. Installers were on time, polite, and neat and made sure I was satisfied with the installation and the shutter. Great job!

It was a great experience from start to finish. I found this company on Angie's List, called and got an appointment almost immediately for a home visit and inital measuring. I received my estimate very promptly. I went to their facility and choose my shutter type from many nice selection possibilities, placed my order, they came and remeasured and my shutters were fabricated and installed in a timely manner. One shutter was not exactly perfect so they took it back and brought it back within a few days. I have referred them to a client of mine who had the same very positive experience. I also really like that they are a local company.

The shutter installation went fine but one of the technicians used a bathroom they were told not to use by myself and my construction foreman. The toilet overflowed and resulted in a massive flood on the second floor that came through the ceiling and also damaged the first floor. The company did not take responsibility and suggested that it was some one else when there was no one else. It is a shame that a supposedly reputable company would not stand up and see that situation remedied. The cost of the repairs were approximately $20,000. Be very careful of this company and check on the workers frequently and do not leave them alone. The only thing sad about this case is the misleading and untrue statements in the response. First I am not unhappy in anyway with my contractor and have even recommended him for Angie's List. He quoted us a 12-13 month renovation and finished in 11 months with other projects added in along the way - there were no delays. When I first had John out to quote the shutters I specifically told them it would be awhile before I actually wanted them made and asked their lead time - he said 6-8 weeks. I called them about 6-8 weeks before I needed the shutters - they did not have the shutters sitting around for 4 mos.waiting to install them. I have credit card statements to prove the dates. Neither John nor Karen was on site that day and there was no one else on premise but my foreman and myself doing final walk through and cleaning before our move in 1 week. The installers were told which bathroom to use and repeated in Spanish by my foreman. So the question is why would myself or Anderson, after working in the house for 1 year, take the only roll of toilet paper from the designated bathroom, go upstairs and use a bathroom that had blue tape over the door? No one was working on the plumbing that day. I did not do a final walk through with the installer before we left as I had seen the work throughout the day so did not go back upstairs and look shutter by shutter - I have not said the product or installation are F's so this was not necessary. We did contact their insurance company on two occasions. The first time was in November and we were told they had to initiate the claim. When I wrote the negative report for Angie's List Karen contacted us again with their agents info - called again and was told they had to initiate action. For the second time we were embarassed but this time the agent called them to help get the ball rolling. She came out and took statements from myself and Anderson but that was the last we heard. I called and left a message on their answering machine that Sat. following the installation as soon as I went to the house and told her there was a problem. On Monday I called again and Karen said she wanted to discuss it with John. Called back on Tuesday and was told it was not their problem. I did begin to immediately repair the damage as I could not leave water soaked flooring and drywall molding in the house. I do have pictures and we did not begin repair for almost 2 months to allow the studs, support beams, and underlayment to throughly dry out. They never offered to come out and look at the destruction. The final damage bill of $30,000 does not include the the extra $15,000 in rent we had to pay because we could not move into the house. I also did not order more shutters and they well know it and I have their invoices to prove it. The shutters they came back later to install were on the original order. Several windows were missing trim on measuring day and their installer measured them on the day they came to install. They had charged me the deposit for these so they were not ordered but owed. I have another level to house requiring half again as many shutters and though they will not match the rest of the house I will guarantee I will not be using this company. As I stated I hired the right contractor for my job it has been very stress free until this incident. I am thrilled with the results and am continuing with him to complete our unfinished basement. Read the other negative report and you will realize the only one with problems is Perfect Fit owning up to their responsiblities when things go wrong. I will admit Karen is an excellent word smith (far better than I) but if you read these reports carefully both of us customers were wrong and it could not possibly have been their fault. I stand by my assessment to beware of this company.

Response from Perfect Fit Custom Shutters
This report seems to us here as a sad case of her contractor taking advantage of her and delaying her project further. The customer is having contractor problems and experiencing delay after delay. We had to wait more than four months just to install her shutters. There were other workers in and out all day the day we installed the shutters. Her contractor's company was working on the plumbing the day we were there and told our installer what bathroom to use based on what bathroom was not being worked on. Our installer did a walk through with the customer before he left including the bathrooms where shutters were installed. She was the last person in the house that day. I feel for her and gave her our insurance agents name and phone number - Carol Brunetto/State Farm 301-530-9450 and told her to contact her if she felt that strongly that we would have caused water damage while there installing shutters. And that was even though she called us three days after we installed her shutters and her contractor had already ripped out the damage and fixed the plumbing. No pictures no information - just "It had to be you guys because I have known my contractor for a year and he would not lie to me" We only use employees to install our work and the installer on this installation has been with us for 10 years. She told us the damage estimate includes her rent of $5000/month for several months because of the delay resulting from the water damage. She never reported the claim. Not even a phone call was made. She provided no pictures no information no time for us to come look at the damage .... nothing. Then after all this confusion she ordered MORE SHUTTERS and we installed those. I think she is having a very hard time with her now year long renovation and the stress is very hard on her and to be honest it would be hard on me also - I do not wish her problems on anyone.

The best thing my husband and I did was to go to their showroom and see the shutters displayed, it was great to see them hung on windows not just small samples or just pictures. The major thing it showed us that you couldn't tell the difference between the wood shutters and the thermalite. Karen was great to work with we left the showroom feeling that this company was the way to go. I liked the fact that they could match the shutter color to whatever paint brand we wanted since some companies have only a few colors of white that they use. Since we had measured our windows we were able to get an estimate that was reasonable and once we decided John came out within 2 weeks measured our windows and 4 weeks later we have our shutters. I went back and forth about real wood and thermalite but decided on the thermalite and am thrilled with the outcome. We have a very large window in our bay with 2 side windows and they make the window look so beautiful that we are thinking in the future to do the whole house. The installers were professional and quick and there was absolutely no mess involved I'm only sorry that we didn't do this years ago!
Description of Work: I got 6 windows covered with thermalite plantation shutters, one being a very large bay window in the dining room and windows in the living room and powder room.

Extremely disappointed in this experience. We ordered wood shutters and somehow our order was changed to thermalite (plastic). When we noticed the problem and contacted Custom Fit, they told us that we called to switch our order to thermalite. We didn't, and our contract stated that we ordered wood. We proposed a plan that we believed would work to both of our benefits and they then accused us of lying about the issue even though we had a signed contract. We had to follow up several times on this, including coming into the showroom twice. It seemed to us that we wouldn't have heard back from them unless we pursued it. Eventually, all of the thermalite shutters were replaced with wood shutters (except for the bathroom shutters). The quality of the shutters is decent and so we were hoping to order some more shutters from them, but their customer service was so upsetting that we want to take our business elsewhere. If you plan to work with them, you have to be really clear so that you're not accused of lying like we were.
Description of Work: Ordered 2.5" wood plantation shutters. Installed thermalite (plastic) instead of what we ordered. After intense discussion, eventually had the thermalite shutters replaced with wood shutters.

I think as a business we were also disappointed with this experience. In hindsight, it was a difficult experience for all and the report above is baffling in that we as a company made every effort in terms of time and delivering exactly what was ordered. The above report lacks information that would complete the picture and I will attempt to explain. The couple contacted us to look into doing shutters for their upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms. A rep from Perfect Fit visited their home on the 7th of June to show our products, explain the features, the mount and give them an estimate. They placed an order by phone on the 22nd of June for wood in all the bedrooms and Thermalite (solid synthetic) for the bathrooms and the invoice was mailed to them. The husband then visited the showroom several more times because he explained that they were still uncertain which product to go with and to get us the color they wanted us to paint the shutters. On the 3rd of July, he met with me in the showroom to make his final decisions and put down a deposit on his credit card. John, the owner, went to their home on July 6th to remeasure and confirm the layout with the husband. The shutters were installed on the 6th of August. The problem arose when the wife emailed to say she liked the shutters but wanted to know if she had the wood or the synthetic. I explained that she had the synthetic. She then called and said she thought they ordered the wood. I asked her to talk to her husband because on his last visit to the showroom my recollection and all my notes show that he decided to go with all synthetic and I remember saying to him … “I know, so you never have to worry about them!” I made the notes on our shop copies but was so busy making the changes on our shop and work order copies (the order had already been input and I wanted to make sure we got the change correct) that I did not have him sign off on the changes. This was my fault and definitely not good business. Our policy is not to have the customer pay the balance until they are 100% satisfied and we are 100% done …. So we left the balance unpaid until it was resolved. So the wife said she had a “plan” to rectify the situation and I told her to go over it with John when he returned from vacation the following week. They must have felt some sense of urgency because they instead showed up at the showroom with the “plan” before John returned. They outlined that they wanted the Master bedroom shutters changed to wood but the others could stay Thermalite if we would do 6 or 8 windows on their main level. John gave her husband a written quote for doing the main level with a substantial discount but made it clear that we would replace the existing shutters with wood shutters if that is what they wanted. They responded that they weren’t happy with the offer and implied that since the new shutters were equivalent in cost to the existing, that it was essentially a swap. In other words they would keep the Thermalite Shutters they had if we did the windows at no charge for the main level of their home. John’s reply was that our policy was to make the situation right and if we delivered the incorrect item, we would remake the shutters the way they thought they ordered them. This avoids the possibility for abuse and doesn’t put us in the position of judging peoples motives when misunderstandings occur. They opted to have them remade in wood so we remade them in wood and installed them in a timely manner (half the normal lead time). I followed up by phone to make sure everything was satisfactory and they said it was. Then a month later we received the above report that to me is not an honest attempt to report on our Company. It seems disingenuous at best. I do however see how my lack of following basic procedures contributed to this scenario arising in the first place and I will strive to do better with the basics of taking an order. Thank you for listening if you made it this far

It could not have gone better. We went to showroom and saw samples of finished products-easy. John came and measured one morning-easy. Placed the order with Karen-easy. The shutters were installed when we had finished other rennovations-easy. The attention to detail from start to finish was amazing. If one is going to get plantation shutters - talk with Karen first. Amazing, outstanding service, amazing, outstanding product...simply an amazing, outstanding process from start to finish.

Perfect Fit Custom Shutters made and installed replacement shutters for the large window in my kitchen. From the moment I walked into their showroom and met Karen, I was impressed. She was knowledgeable and friendly and made sure I knew all the options available. John came out to the house to do the measuring and was also friendly and professional. He wrote down for me the brand and name of the paint they were going to use so I could match the shutters when repainting around them. When the installers came about six weeks later, the job was done quickly and with great attention to detail. I love my shutters, and so do my cats?they prefer them open so they can sit on the window seat and look out.

Sales consultant was very professional and answered all of my questions satisfactorily on the product. The installer was very professional and efficient. The product itself was of a very high quality as far as I can discern and the shutters match perfectly with the paint color of my window molding. They were the lowest price of the 3-4 vendors we evaluated. Job well done.

I was very impressed. I've gotten quote for shutters before and they came in lower than the big franchises. It's a one store location and they weren't nickel and dimeing me for every option, as it was included in the price. My shutters look gorgeous!! I'm ready to do my whole house...lol That will take me awhile, but that will be my goal. The installers were very professional, neat and clean.

I had a lot of questions, which the sales rep who came to our house was not able to answer (she was adequate in her basic knowledge about the products, but we weren't so impressed with her when it came to more technical issues or more detailed knowledge of the products). So I emailed my questions to the comapany, and the owners responded to me directly. Moreover, their response was thorough and prompt. In general, I did get the impression that this is a quality company which cares about customer service. There is a lifetime warranty on the product, so if any of the slats ever crack, for example, they will replace them.

They were very nice. They measured every window and they told me how they make the shutters. They gave me a range of options to choose from. They were very through and they brought samples and were able to show me exactly what I would be getting. They were the first people that I called for shutter information. I used that information in subsequent meetings. I haven't decided but it was helpful. The price was fair. I haven't ruled them out.

Excellent. The plantation shutters look great and they are very well made. The price was not too bad either. The quality of these shutters is far better than what you get at any popular window covering store. We were able to get them installed flush with the frame so they look like they were built in and always intended to be there. They matched our paint color exactly since we had the brand and color name. The installation was done very well. They caulked the small gap around the frame to make it look like one solid piece with the window. Our windows tilt down for cleaning and they made sure that the windows would just clear the frames so we didn't lose that function. Everyone who has seen the shutters has commented on how well built they are. We also got a great price on the Hunter Douglas wood blinds for the rest of the house and had them installed the same day for free. Overall a great experience. A very well run company that delivers what they promise.

I couldn't be happier with the way my shutters turned out. They are absolutely gorgeous. The workmanship was top notch. Customer satisfaction is very important to this company and it's evident by the attention that I received. I found Perfect Fit Custom Shutters online and I was immediately drawn to them because they were a family owned business and they used materials made in the U.S. I scheduled an in home estimate with Marie who was punctual, professional and helpful. She had many pictures to show me of the different shutter designs and details. She also provided me with a list of references in my area, including email addresses so I could contact them if I so desired. Marie recommended that I come to the showroom and take a look at all the shutters on display. This was very helpful for me in finalizing my shutter selection, especially after meeting the owner Karen. This lady knows her shutters!!! Her husband John then came to the house and did the final measurement. He was very thorough and he was happy to answer my last minute questions. I was able to make changes several times without any hassle. Like I said customer satisfaction is the cornerstone of this family business. The shutters only took three weeks to build. The installation crew was punctual and very respectful of my home. They took their shoes on/off as they went in and out of the house, even when they were carrying the shutters. They were very efficient and worked well together. They even put my furniture back in place after they completed the installation. This was definitely above and beyond! I now love to sit in my living room and admire my shutters. They're breathtaking!!

(04/15/2010) They are going to do some work for me. The shutters should be delivered in a few weeks. I had already seen other products. I liked the presentation and the young lady that came to give the presentation. It wasn't a forceful presentation. I liked their product. UPDATE (04/27/2010) A representative came out to discuss and show me samples of their product. I chose the wooden shutters over the vinyl shutters. A technician performed the final measurements and the shutters were installed less than a month later. The installers were professional and polite. I love my new shutters and am planning on ordering more for the house.

We interviewed three companies for plantation shutters (all in-home consults). We were impressed with the quality of the Perfect Fit samples and the price relative to the others we interviewed (in the end, with a coupon, they seemed a little better than Next Day Blinds in-house shutters in terms of quality and price). Perfect Fit's focus on shutters was also important to us-- there were more options in terms of how we could design them to meet our needs-- where the breaks would be in the shutter, whether to do them as a single unit or separate units, how to mount them. These things made a big difference to us in how they looked and functioned-- it felt like a more custom product. The warranty was strong, too. The whole order/install process was pretty quick and efficient. Signed contract, final measure and then shutters installed in (I think) 4-5 weeks. Install went smoothly. Afterwards, I noticed that some of the tilt rods didn't fit as flush as I would have liked into the little notches and one of the sidelights seemed a little bowed and had a short hairline crack. I don't know if this should have been caught during the manufacturing process or was a result of the installation. In any case, Perfect Fit was very responsive and worked within our scheduling constraints to correct everything (they were here less than an hour and fixed it all). We're very satisfied with the end product. (If money was no object, I'd put the shutters elsewhere in the house, too.) We're very pleased with the impact this has made in the house-- they really are beautiful (I never thought I'd say that about a shutter...)

I cannot even begin to name all the reasons why I love Perfect Fit Shutters. They were by far one of the best, if not the best, companies to work with. We got caf? shutters installed in our living room and dining room and we are so happy with the product. But not only do we love the shutters, I loved the service Karen, John and Riah provided to us. John was very informative and such a great resource when he came to give us our in-home estimate. He educated us on what kind of product we would see in the market and why PerfectFit Shutters was different. (And everything he told me was absolutely true as I resreached and looked at many other shutter companies). Karen was very helpful when it came time for me to pick out the details of the shutters. She was very patient, helpful and so friendly. It was like talking to a friend! Throughout the entire process, no one was ever pushy or aggressive. Riah was also very friendly and made sure the installation went smoothly. We love our shutters ? they look incredible! I believe their product and customer service stands above all others.
Description of Work: We had 2 1/2 inch cafe shutters installed in our living room and dining room.

My first contact was with salesperson Marie Glennon who took a great deal of time to explain all of the different features of the shutters. Marie made a few trips to my home to make sure I had all of the information I needed and was comfortable with my decision. I did not shop around for price, because Marie made me feel so informed about the product and so comfortable with the company that I wanted to use them and not waste time price shopping. Marie was persistent but not pushy and helped me make good decisions about the product I was buying. I also dealt with several others in the company - the scheduler (Riah), one of the owners (Karen) and the installers (Isais & ??). Each person was competent, helpful and courteous. I had a question late in the process about accessing the tilt feature of some of the windows, and Karen quickly halted production until we could ensure I would be happy. Don't think I'd get that from a mass production company. This company takes time to get the job done right and keep the customer happy along the way. I appreciate the little details like the email reminders and phone calls about install dates, the prompt arrival of the install crew, and even how the installers thought to take off their shoes before doing the install in our carpeted upstairs. I would not hesitate to recommend Perfect Fit to my friends looking for classy, beautifully made (in the US) window treatments.
Description of Work: Perfect Fit created and installed plantation (interior) shutters in 7 rooms in our home and installed wood blinds in two bathrooms. This included coming to our home to do an initial estimate, returning for a final measure, and then returning for the install. Between visits, I was in contact with a few individuals from the company who kept me up to date on dates, prices, and the process. Perfect Fit is a very professional outfit. From the initial contact to the final install, they were courteous, prompt, knowledgeable, friendly and sold me a terrific product. The shutters are matched perfectly to my trim paint and look beautiful. We had actually only planned to install shutters in a few rooms because of the cost, but were so wowed by the way they looked on the first floor, and by the great dealings with Perfect Fit - that we decided to do the rest of the house.

Extremely well. The estimate was precise and professional. They returned to take exact measurements as the house is old and the woodwork is quite detailed and irregular. They were able to exactly match the paint color of the shutters to the woodwork. Installation went very well and we are extremely pleased with how the shutters look and work.
Description of Work: Measured and installed Plantation Blinds on four windows in my living room and hallway, and three double French doors in my dining room. These are tall windows in a Capitol Hill townhouse.

Perfect Fit did an outstanding job. The shutters are top quality, the perfect size and finish, and were installed professionally by a courteous installer who respected our home while completing the work. I have nothing but good things to say about our experience with this company and highly recommend their product. I also recommend visiting their showroom should you be considering their product - it is very well appointed and assisted in our decision to go with Perfect Fit.
