My Guys Moving & Storage

They showed up on time and packed my furniture and put it into storage for approximately 4 months. Problems started when I moved into my new home. The entire condo had been renovated over the past 4 months so everything was new. The movers put a hole in my wall and smashed the new thermostat off the wall. Damage to my furniture was extensive. Holes in the upholstery on the living room sofa, gouges in wood furniture. Dealing with the repairs were a nightmare. It's like they have a routine to avoid calls and they never receive an email. Good job Renee... I give up.

We had to book a moving company within a few weeks in summer so our options were limited and the costs were peak. We are seasoned movers having moved interstate 3 times in 3 years but this was our first time with local movers. Rather than weight you are charged hourly. It was easy to schedule a walk through and the estimator was fantastic. He was professional and knowledgable. The move quoted included 6 guys and two trucks for 7-8 hours. The services included on paper were comprehensive and the number of guys provided coupled with the cost was much better than others. My husband and I prepped the boxes in order to try to cut back on the quoted hours. He moved all the boxes from the first and second floor of the house to the garage. Therefore, only the basement and garage had boxes. We also broke down the beds. The rest was furniture. Everything was great until the day of the move. The professionalism was no longer present. Five guys showed up and we were told that they could get it done within the quote even with more time. Not what we wanted to hear given the work we did moving boxes. The lead made it very clear that they work hourly and were in no hurry. The floors were not protected (on paperwork). Furniture was wrapped okay but nothing like the interstate movers. The mattress were not covered and rather they used our mattress pads as the covers which got filthy and one ripped. Floor lamps were stuck in a box and not wrapped up top. One of our items was stolen--a Bluetooth speaker that was in its original box. I blame my husband for not putting in a concealed box. Most of the boxes were put where they needed to go but we basically just had them stack everything in the basement to save time. We didn't have them put any furniture together. Low and behold they took the full allotted time so we still ended up paying the maximum quote. Before leaving one came back inside and said 'no tip?' We were floored. We paid $2000 for labor and then they wanted a tip. Tips not expected with interstate moves. Nor were we told when we booked that this was expected. Upon inspection of the final paperwork it does say tips appreciated. Had we been warned we would have been prepared. My husband gave him the $40 he did have and I am sure he didn't tell the others. When they left they side swiped the mailbox. Luckily I could repair it mostly myself since we moved to a rental. The damage and stolen item didn't exceed the $500 deductible so we didn't file any claim.

Awful. The estimator was willing to make whatever lies and low ball bids he had to to secure the job, but it turned out they were unable to comply and asked for SUBSTANTIAL additional money to complete the move. Post sales support was unavaialble. Even the promised $100 discount was ignored. Nothing but reprehensible scoundrels in the sales and customer support department. Fortuantely the movers themselves were quite professional even when faced with the intractible situation that their scum employers left them in.

I'm quite peeved with My Guys Moving. I knew several people who had used them and who seemed to like them, so I just assumed I could trust them. I never even shopped around for another mover. In addition, when they asked if I wanted to buy additional insurance, I thought there was no need because of course their movers would be careful. Big mistake. I wish they had told me I ought to buy because there was a big chance things would be damaged. The day of the move I was happy with them because they didn't scuff the walls in the new house, which was freshly painted. That's what I was watching for. I even gave their guys a $150 tip. They didn't thank me for the tip, so I thought hmmm, I guess they're used to bigger tips. Then, that evening, my husband noticed that our bedroom chest and one bedroom endtable were scratched/dented. I was annoyed, but since I don't like conflict, I didn't report it. Then, later on when we were cleaning the old house, we discovered that the movers had ALSO broken a wood staircase baluster! Well now that was too much for me, and I contacted them. The guy who is managing the claim is pretty unresponsive. He also didn't want to replace any furniture, but wanted us to get a furniture company to come and touch up the dents. Well, when I called the furniture company, they also said that they didn't think they could touch it up to the point where the dents would not be noticeable. In addition, if they did touch up, then the total claim (including fixing the balaster) would fall under $500, which is the deductible for the standard insurance (since we didn't buy additional insurance), so in that case, they would not even pay for the touchup! The claims guy at My Guys Moving has not responded to my last e-mail from 1-2 weeks ago, and he never answers the phone. In retrospect, I think the movers knew they had damaged property and felt GUILTY about me giving them the $150 tip, which is why they didn't say thank you! All in all, I would never use My Guys Moving again and discourage anyone else from using them.

Excellent efficient job. They sent 4 very congenial/personal hard working men who got the job done in 30 min. They were right on time. Would absolutely consider them again. I honestly needed to get this done very quickly. They came the day after contacting them. Although I thought the $398.00 was a bit on the costly side for a 1/2 hour job, I had nothing to compare it too because I was interested in getting it done quickly and didn't get other quotes. The 4 men cost $199.00/hour but I also had to pay for another hour 1/2 hour each way to and fro for travel time.

They were very professional and they wrapped everything in plastics and then moving blankets, so they took very good care of stuff. Currently they have their own training facility, that kind of stood out on choosing them.

The weather on our move day was horrible. Only day that week with rain, and it had to be our day. Not just rain - 7.8 inches, often in torrential downpours! But this didn't seem to phase the men from My Guys. They put down long water absorbent pads at the entry and hallways of both houses which worked very nicely. My Guys arrived on time (8 am), toured our home and started backing in trucks and loading them up. All the furniture (many antiques) were fully wrapped in soft mover's cloth and then in clear plastic before loading. They were a 7-man crew and were not only professional, but very nice too. Despite all the rain, I never heard a single complaint. By 7pm were were completely moved and unloaded in Annapolis. An hour after the loading started a pickup pulled into the driveway. It was T.J. who is the local franchise owner. He just wanted to be sure his men were on the job and that we were pleased so far with the service. Our representative who did the estimate was Mike McCarthy. And his estimate was dead on. What helped to make this move work well was, we were prepared for them - most items boxed or in plastic wrap and ready to go. We loaded the wheeled shelving units from the garages as a unit filled with boxes. They wrapped them in plastic and just wheeled them on the truck. Last item in and first item off the truck was a freezer packed with food. Not a problem for them at all. They provided free wardrobes for our use during the move for free - and even loaded and unloaded them! They also provided free moving cartons for 3 flat screen TVs, wrapped them securely and moved them without needing to take them off their stands. So, sometimes the lowest bid can be the best in cost and service. I'd use this company again and would recommend them to anyone in the central Maryland area.

The sales rep was pleasant, cordial and professional. Unfortunately, that was the only part of my move that lived up to expectations. Did they arrive on time; yes. That's about the only positive. The entire moving crew aside from the supervisor only spoke Spanish, not English They were not able to read the labels placed on every box that stated which room they were to be placed. Days after I found 3rd floor bedroom boxes and items in the basement den! They took an extended lunch break (with lunch that I offered to them) which led to my move being billed for a total of 8 hours; it could have been done in less but the supervisor told me he could not write off 15 minutes. He would not accept the coupon the sales rep told me to use for $100 off. I had purchased UPS packing tape, which they used, but then further charged me $5 each for 8 rolls that I never authorized. Hence, when I called My Guys and talked to someone (a supervisor I presume), he told me they could send out two guys two weeks later to help me move items where they should go, plus they would refund me for the $100 I should have been credited, and also refund me $40 for the packing tape that I supplied. Imagine my surprise to receive a refund check for $96, not the correct amount from My Guys Moving. Seems their ability to add $ is sub-par too, or they can't communicate well to their own bookkeeping department. In my line of work helping others to relocate and downsize, My Guys Moving will NOT be a company I'll ever recommend. At least for me, they blew it!

Three guys showed up right on time and completed the move much faster than I expected. One guy in particular could carry five to six heavy boxes on his back with no problem. It rained at the end of the move and they very careful with our hard wood floors by laying down thick cloth down in the entrance way. Thanks very much.

The movers showed up early and quickly got to work. Everything was wrapped and protected. We did not have any complaints, the guys were very professional and worked quickly. We will be calling when we move again!

The movers were very friendly and efficient. They interacted well with my family and were extremely helpful and mindful of our animals. They needed very little direction, as they remembered what furniture went with each child/room when moving from our old house to the new one. This left me free to unpack and organize. I would use them again.

The price was very reasonable, however, they did lose one of my items, and there was also an issue when they came to pick up my stuff at my previous home and arrived much too early, and didn't call me beforehand. In the end everything worked out, but there were some bumps on the road.

They arrived on time, and were pretty careful except that the guys couldn't remember to close doors so the cat didn't get out. They relocated some things that didn't fit where we intended and were cheerful about it. Estimate was accurate. Overall, I was satisfied. This is the 2nd time I've used them and I would hire them again.

It wasn't a very good experience. They under did the job and they overcharged. It cost twice as much from what they said it would be.

Moving is always a little tramatic, but the whole experience went very well due to the responsiveness of this company.

They were excellent. They went out of their way. First of all, they brought all kinds of supplies and things to give us which I thought was amazing. When they packaged everything, they did an extra extra amount of packaging on everything so that nothing would break or get hurt. They were there for hours just packing up. They were wonderful and their attitude was wonderful. They came when they said. Everything was great. There wasn't a single thing that wasn't great. I would absolutely use them again in the future if I needed to and I would recommend them to anybody.

Their service was good. They under estimated the size of our place. The folks that came were really great. They had a good deal and good service.

They were great. Overall it was a good experience. They were affordable; more so then other companies. They were accommodating with last minute arrangements.

Javier was one of the guys who helped me move. I have a professional upright piano weighing at least 500 pounds. When I called them to inform what I needed done, I told them that I had a piano. I told them to make sure that the movers knew that. However, there was miscommunication and the two guys who showed up didn’t know that I had a piano. They were initially kind of little concerned like they needed additional people, but they moved it themselves. It was quite impressive actually to have two guys lift a piano. I also have a really large sofa. When I bought it 10 years ago, the guys couldn’t fit it. So, they felt like they had to drag it up through five flights of stairs, but somehow the guys who came out from Two Guys and a Truck fit it into the service elevator. I was really impressed with that. When they showed up, I was very concerned. They did the job well. They were very pleasant and very efficient. Nothing was broken too. I thought it was going to cost more, but somebody forgot about the piano. So, I think it was less and it was less than I should have paid. They were very responsive because of the flexibility with scheduling. I was trying to coordinate between the people finishing my wood floors and the painters who also had to refinish my closet. There were a few variables changing because I live in a building. They were very good about working with me. They showed up an hour late, but I didn’t mind. It wasn’t an issue at all. The move happened very quickly. I was really impressed with how efficiently they moved everything from the apartment to the elevator and into the truck. They took about less time than I thought it would take. They were extremely professional guys. They went above and beyond as far as I am concerned since they didn’t call for a back-up for lifting my piano, which was huge. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

They were efficient and polite, and their price was reasonable. We would use them again, and we were very pleased with their work.

Everything went very well. In my case right now everything is in storage, and I haven?t checked anything as yet. The only issue that I had with them was that, there were actually three drop points, and it took them over forty minutes to get from the storage to drop point one. I don?t know what happened and they were not on time. I honestly don?t know what happened. I infact called my sales rep because we were just waiting for so long, and he said he was trying to call them. He then never called me back to follow up. I would probably hire them again. I?m not sure about the price because I don?t have anything to compare it to. I honestly don?t know if their price is probably high or low. During the sales process they were very responsive, but after that when they were moving my things they never bothered calling me back. Regarding their punctuality, they were fine with most part of it. But when it came to moving my things, they said they would come in the morning and they came very late. They were accurate with the estimate. I would use their services again in the future.

It was excellent. I was very comfortable with everything. They worked really hard. It was a very good transaction. Everything went really well.
