Mountain Air Duck & Carpet Cleaning

We bought a basic air duct cleaning on groupon for $60 and expected to pay a little extra for the intake ducts. However upon inspecting the furnace they said we had an old condensation leak and it had created mold. It would take an additional $450 to dismantle the furnace and wipe everything down. I discussed it with my husband and we decided to do it. Then the said there was additional mold in the intake and it would be ANOTHER $450. At this I said no and I started to get suspicious. I looked them up online quickly and found lots of reviews stating this same scam. So I told them to stop what they were doing and just finish the air ducts. The guy made me talk to his boss on the to further pressure me into the additional cleaning. Even reducing the price to $100. I said no and tried to go down and stop the guy from cleaning the furnace. When I got down stairs he said he was already done. this all happened in 20 minutes. So I was stuck paying the first $450. After they left I opened up the furnace and it had barely been vacuumed out let alone thoroughly wiped down. These guys were horrible.

This was a classic bait and switch tactic I felled for. I received a mail coupon for entire duct work cleaning with dryer vent cleaning for about $70. When the servicer showed, they said only one of the two levels of the air duct in the house was covered, the other would be extra. I declined to pay extra for the first level of the house. On the second level of the house, there are two return vents, they only clean the exterior of one vent and not the second, neither did they clean the outflow vents, stating that was also extra. For the dryer vents they only cleaned the outside and maybe a 1/2 foot into the vent, something I could have done with my own vacuum. For the entire dryer vent cleaning, they stated there was an extra charge. Finally, they opened the air handler and said there was mold. Although I didn't see signs of mold, I saw some water there so I trusted them when they said I have mold (I do have stuffy nose sometimes so it was believable.) They initially quoted $399 but when I balked, they lowered the price to $150. After they cleaned, I checked the air handler unit again, there were no changes in appearance and no perceptable difference in air quality. I believe I was swindled.

Since the coupon only covered 1 return duct and didn't cover the dryer I knew I would have to pay a bit more. The charged me an extra 179.92 for the return duct plus said that the area where my filters for the furnace were counted as another return duct. The company employee said that I had mold - I fell for that which cost an additional 289.99. Then they said I had mildew which was an additional 89.99. Cleaning the outside dryer vent added 109.99. With tax of 44.94, they charged my credit card 793.94. This morning I woke up feeling miserable because I hadn't read the Angie's review of this company. When I totaled my bill the charge should have been 669.94 with 6% tax being 40.20 for a total of 710.14 which was way too much. it is ridiculous that I approved these needless charges, but I felt pressured. I would never have this company on my property again.

I had a dreadful experience with Mountain Air Duck & Carpet Cleaning. They were horrible. I got a coupon for them off of Groupon and it wasn't even worth the discounted price. They did more harm than good. They were also rude and nasty. They actually ruined parts of my house. It was just an all-around bad experience. I called to try to complain and the guy never came back out and never addressed my issues.
