Carlos came by to provide an estimate - he was knowledgeable and professional and gave me what I thought to be a fair price. We discussed the price as a family and with in hours I called Carlos to accept the estimate and plan a day for the work. Since this was a small job I expected a delay but much to my surprise they were able to come within a week. They were to be at my house by 8:30a on a Friday but called to say they'd be an hour late. Thankfully I had someone at home... They arrived and had the work done in four hours. What a blessing! The gate looks good and functions as I wanted - gate opening wide enough to accommodate a large mower.

Fabulous! Interviewed and got estimates from several companies, and this organization was by far the most professional and well run. Others had some cheaper options, but not for what these people did.

Master Fence completed the work in just under a week. When the gate started sticking a month later, Carlos was very responsive in coming to fix it free of charge. Overall I would give them an A. My only complaint is that their scheduling system seems to be a bit off. After getting our estimate, they were slated to begin work a month later. After waiting such a long time, we were anxious for them to begin. however the start date came and went with no crew. When I called the next day, they were able to come out, but my husband and I hd to wait for them to do another walk through. Besides this slighly frustrating scheduling mishap, the work they did was fantastic and I would definitely reccomend them.

The estimator provided the best price quote by far. The work was scheduled and performed well at the exact price quoted.

I received quotes for a new fence, porch, and porch rail including paint from three Angie's List recommended vendors. Master Fences came in with both the most reasonable price and a solid understanding of my vision. I mostly worked with their estimator and project coordinator, Pam. Pam is eager to assist and very responsive. I cannot say the same for the owner/manager(?) Carlos, but this was not a huge imposition to getting what I wanted out of the company. My job took a little longer than schedule due to rain, but the crew was out there woking when working permitted and completed the job to my specifications. I would use them again.

A few days before my job Carlos called me to tell me that they had some questions about the job because of the work for the estimator and asked if could come over the day before the work to walk through the job. He arrived on time and we discussed the details of the job, including the exact placement of the posts. The next day Carlos himself was present at the start of the install but then left. They did not follow the install plans. They nailed one end of the fence to my neighbor's garage and extended another piece of wood over my other neighbor's property - both specific details I had discussed with Carlos the day before and had agreed on very different approaches. I called the company and they came back out to fix the issues, but in the process created other issues. They removed the fence from my neighbor's garage (after I had to provide them the right tools to do so), and installed a post, but I don't believe they cemented the post into place. At the same time, through no fault of Master Fences, a section of the new fence had to be removed (because of a neighbor complaint and I agreed to pay additionally for this removal). Carlos himself removed this section of fence, but did not engage the help of his colleague who was with him and as a result, the fence section fell down the back stairs and split the wood in my basement back door. Carlos agreed to send a contractor to fix it, but so far has just left a message to say that he cannot find the right contractor. In addition to these issues, the installed fence work is sloppy. The fence is not firmly attached to one of the posts and sways and squeaks (immediately after install) and the angular cuts at the top of the fence are completely uneven and look bad. They also used one of the old posts in the new fence, which was not what we had agreed to on the estimate. I am very disappointed with the final job, especially given Master Fences positive reviews on Angie's List.

We moved into present house last year, Had to replace fence separating our yard from neighbors, and a gate to back yard.Carlos met with us in the evening when we both could be there, and discussed pros and cons of different fence styles.Had found his company on Angie's List. He measured and gave us estimate that night.The work was done on time, crew cleaned up after, and we're very happy with results.

I found Master Fences on Angie's List and decided to use them. They put up about four feet of fence for me. I am very happy with their work. Their price was the best out of all the estimates I received.

Carlos is professional and enthusiastic in his business. He was patience to explain the details and answered every of my phone calls with questions from time to time. The job went smooth and on scedule. Everything was completed in one day! Few days later, I saw a minor problem that I didn't caught when the crew was here. Then, I called Carlos to see if he would fix it. I was amazed that he had come to fix it when I got back from work the next day. Responsible contrators with fair price are hard to find these days. I have very pleasant experience in dealing with Master Fences in this project.

Solid construction and high quality for an affordable price....what else could you want?

Carlos came out to estimate, and is without a doubt, one of the most nice and thorough people I met. He walked me through the various options, answered a number of questions I had, and emailed me an estimate almost immediately. When the time came to do the work, I talked with the foreman, explained we had a buried geothermal system (which is hard to mark), and showed him the area where it would be. His men carefully hand dug a few of the post holes first in order to avoid damaging the pipes (they found it), and then dug and placed the rest of the fence. They were quick , careful, and did a great job. When it was all done, Carlos came by and looked at it to make sure he felt it was up to *his* standards. All in all, i'm very happy with the results.

Carlos and Pam arrived at the scheduled time and provided an initial estimate. Part of the work involved a section of fence that is shared with my neighbor who later decided to have their fence replaced at the same time. We received individual, updated estimates from Pam, and the price included a discount for doing both jobs at the same time. After submitting the deposit, I waited for a scheduled date for the work to begin. One morning at 7 am I received a call from Carlos asking if it was OK to begin the work that morning. I would have preferred to have advance notice but I consented to the same day schedule. The new fence took 2 days to construct and was right on time. I'm very happy with the way it turned out and other neighbors have commented on how nice the fence looks. The only criticism I have is that the yard clean up could have been better by clearing out all pieces of the old fence and the removing the large pile of sawdust instead of spreading it in mulch. My neighbor and I received a separate estimate for painting. The price was in line with those from other companies so we went with Master Fences. They called the night before to schedule the job (had to schedule according to weather conditions) and they showed up on time. The painting took 2 days to apply 2 coats. They did a nice job on the painting. I'm pleased with the overall experience and I would use them again.

I met the estimator on September 10. She was on time, took measurements and assured me I would receive an estimate shortly. After I didn't receive an estimate after a few WEEKS, I contacted the estimator. She said she would contact the owner who would send the estimate. She followed up with an email on October 9 and apologized for the lack of follow-up. To this date I have not received an estimate. I would not use nor recommend this company. If a company can't even follow up with something as simple as an estimate there is a real problem with their management.

Pam from Master Fences provided separate prices for us in August with pretty competitive prices. I explained to her that we had to get our patio work done before we could install the fence. She was flexible and negotiable on pricing and repeated told me "how much she wanted to earn my business". My wife and I decided we wanted to install the left and right side fence and gates this year and perhaps redo the entire backyard next year. Pam was persistent over the next 2 months calling me on a weekly basis to check up. Because she stated cedar and pine were the same price, we decided to go with cedar and top fascia board trims. Pam called back with lower prices and even threw in pyramid caps. We gave her a verbal commitment that we would go with Master Fences once the patio was done. Come end of September, we called her back and told her we were ready to schedule and she asked on to send her the 1/3 deposit and a copy of the WRITTEN ESTIMATE to start the work. It was a great price, almost too good to be true...AND IT WAS. With check in envelope to mail on Monday, I get a call from Pam on Saturday saying that her boss will not accept the work order. I was like what do you mean he won't accept the work...I have your estimate right here!? She said he couldn't do it for that price and would come back with a fair price. The price Pam came back with was nearly 50% over what the original estimate was, plus no pyramid caps. I have never had a company re-nig on an estimate before and was totally shocked at how unprofessional a company like Master Fences was. Thinking that since it was a small job, they would honor their error and do the work. Instead, they would give me a "discount" if I signed a contract to do the left/right side fence this year, and commit to the rest of the backyard fence for next year. Seriously? Do you think in this economy and the unprofessionalism I experienced I would commit? I went with another reliable contractor and would never ever recommend Master Fences to anyone.

The build quality was good and the workers were very nice and efficient. The only issue we had was about 2 years after the job when the fence began leaning into our neighbors driveway. From the time we notified Master Fence of the problem until it was fixed, it took about 6 months. Ultimately, even though the work was out of warranty, they came, aligned the fence and re cemented the posts at no charge to us.

They showed up when they said they would, did the job in less than 3 hours, and did an excellent clean-up job afterwards. They were a lot cheaper than another Angie's list fence company also rated A.

A representative of Master Fences responded to my email with a call very quickly, they were out there to give me an estimate the next day, and they walked me through all the styles of fence and material options...extremely friendly, on time, and very pleasant to interact with. I had three other estimates done for the job, Master Fences was definitely at the low-end of pricing, and I went with them due to their very pleasant non-pushy sales style in addition to the attractive pricing. Workmen showed up 10mins early on the demo day to rip out the old fence, they were EXTREMELY polite, worked very hard, and got the old fence torn out and removed in time to start digging the posts on day 1. Day 2 the 12' posts were sunk 3' into the ground and set in concrete, and they were able to wrap up ALL the fencing, on BOTH sides, on Day 3. Day 4 they came back to hang the doors and hardware. I couldn't have asked for a better all-around experience, THANK YOU! I have already referred them to a neighbor who used them to put up a similar fence across the alley, and they also put in a much longer fence at a family home in Bethesda. All around great experience and I would use them again in a second!

Master Fence arrived punctually for the estimate, and the estimator was very polite and helpful. The crew arrived a couple of weeks later and spent the day (9 AM to 3 PM) removing the old fence and installing new posts and panels. They did a very professional job, with all the panels level and plumb. In all, a very positive experience - I would not hesitate to use them again.

Carlos and I scheduled a date of Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:30am, in for him to avoid the normal morning rush hour traffic coming into DC. (My original requested time was 10am, but because he wanted to avoid traffic, I agreed to 11:30). Needless to say, I never received a call cancelling the appointment or rescheduling the apppointment. Carlos was a big NO SHOW. I stayed home from work, just to meet him and he didn't have the courtesy to call. Very frustrated and disappointed with the lack of professionalism.

The jobs went well. Carlos and Elmer were on the job early and did a fine repair on both the court and fence. prior to them Carlos the estimator and manager gave me an estimate for the work and said he would be in charge. everything went well and the work they did was terrific

Placed gates exactly where neede; dealt with uneven terrrain; gate mechanisms fine. Workers spoke no english which wasn't a big deal but I couldn't get a question answered and had to call the office.

Prompt, professional, did the work when they said they would, at a price that was better than the competition.
