Description of Work: Snaked main line. Discovered tree roots. Service was okay. But the rate was for time and materials. When he was done and cleaned up he spent 40 minutes writing up the invoice! That time cost me $120! And he kept trying to sell me on a clean up service of a guy he knows. I go to Angie's List to find contractors with integrity. But I felt this guy ripped me off.

Description of Work: Cleared an outside basement door well that was blocked. It was an after hours call namely we called at 4:00 pm and company responded within the hour. Price of service was expensive but was not unreasonable considering our concerned that basement might flood with additional rain forecasted. Problem fixed-no recurrence.

 + -1 more-This was not a good experience, although it was not a disaster. The appointment was for the plumber to arrive between 8:30 - 10:30 am. The assigned morning, the crew called me at 7:00 am, waking me up, to say they would be here soon. I told them to wait until 8:30, per the agreed time, which I had conveyed to the tenants. I met the truck in the back of our 11 story condominium building. I was surprised to find that two plumbers had been sent to do this relatively simple job. Although I had given explicit instructions to the dispatcher about what was needed, including the size and material of the pipes on which the new shutoff valves were to be installed, the plumbers wanted to come in and go to the 10th floor apartment without any tools, claiming they needed to see what was to be done before getting the needed tools Three times, both plumbers left the apartment "to get tools and parts" and each trip took 12-15 minutes. In the kitchen, the plumber did not replace the old shutoff valves but rather put the new ones downstream of the old ones, and when I complained about that, he insisted he had fixed the old ones so they wouldn't leak. When they were through and asked the building's maintenance technician to open the riser isolation valves, the toilet's new shutoff leaked and I had to run upstairs and tell the technician to close the riser valve again. The plumber did fix that problem, and there have been no leaks since. All told, it took two hours (four man-hours of labor) and the bill came came to $864, not counting the $84 dollars for purchasing the new kitchen faucet. P.S. In this high cost-of-living metropolitan area, don't mind paying $100 or $120 per hour for skilled technicians, providing that they work efficiently.
Description of Work: They were to replace five shutoff valves under sinks and the toilet, install a new Delta single-lever faucet (that I had purchased) in the kitchen sink, and replace the shower/bath two-handle hot and cold water valves in the wall. When the technicians arrived, they said that they didn't have the shower/bath valves and would have to use a set that included new handles and new flanges (or whatever they are called) from the handles to the wall.

Mike was very patient and respectful of the needs of an elderly homeowner and his budget constraints. He spent a good bit of time determining the best approach to access pipes without damaging the original tile walls and flooring and coordinated with other trades needed for the job. Dale & helpers went above and beyond, working right through lunch and well beyond the usual quitting time to get it done and get it done right. We are also very gratefull for Mike's compassionate eye when he saw my father stumble on a step - and suggested that we have the carpenters install a handrail while they were there to open a wall for plumbing access - a simple inexpensive, but invaluable addition to the scope of work.
Description of Work: Installed new sinks & commodes for 3 bathrooms. diagnosed & repaired clogs & leaks in water supply & sanitary lines for my father's 1930's home.

 + 1 moreThe gas company shut off my gas one day while I was at work claiming the gas pipe coming into my home was leaking gas. I called Mallick as soon as I got home that evening and they came out first thing the next morning. They took a look at my pipes, gave me an estimate, and started work right after the estimate. They did a great job at a reasonable price and turned my gas back on after a couple of hours. They were courtesy and friendly. I would definitely call them again for any gas or plumbing needs.
Description of Work: They replaced the gas pipe from my gas meter into my house. The old gas line ran down from the meter into the ground and then into my home. Burying the line caused excessive rusting of the old gas line right below the ground line. They cut the line off right below the meter, filled the hole the old line ran through, drilled a new hole to run a new gas line above the ground line, ran the new pipe into my home, sealed around the new pipe, and turned my gas back on.

 + -1 moreThe technician did a competent job. The cabinet below the disposal and kitchen floor area, and sink, were 95% clean. He didn't cause any damage. The disposal worked and works. So their workmanship was good, possibly excellent.
Description of Work: My kitchen disposal died after 15 years, in early February. Water run into the sink went straight thru the disposal into the cabinetry. My neighbor recommended Mallick. Over the phone, they asked me what kind of disposal unit I wanted. I hadn't researched them so I said one-step above builder grade. After the technician had installed the new unit, he told me about the warranty and what to do if it needed to be repaired or replaced. It sounded like even a new unit was apt to fail and that getting it repaired or replaced would be cumbersome and time-consuming. {At that moment, I wished I had researched disposals more and possibly gotten a better unit. Glancing thru ConsumerReports afterwards, it seemed that the better units were rather expensive.} NOTE: I agreed to a price range at the time I made the appointment. The final cost fell within that estimate. After the fact, I wish I had done more research on disposals and companies. I don't have a basis for comparison, but this seems rather expensive.
