Established in 1985, and serving the Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia areas, J&G Electric Co., Inc. specializes in service and restoration work. We provide services for residential, commercial and 24-hour emergency services. We were the recipients of the highest rating in Washington Consumer Checkbook Magazine, who provides independent, nonprofit, no-advertising ratings to consumers! All Credit Cards accepted with 3% processing fee. Deals purchased must be scheduled and completed within 7 calendar days of purchase, must use coupon within 7 calendar days. Description of Work: Replace atic fan/coupon $475. Technician said additional work needed. No opportunity for second opinion/estimate. Included in additional fee was part cost of $25 for ordinary light switch. No confidence. This is second time I used Angie's coupon and ended up having to pay additional fee for "needed work".

Description of Work: This is not a review of services per se, since I opted off the service, but I wanted to share my experience. I called the company and asked for their policy with respect to pricing. The very courteous responder asked what I wanted fixed and I told him that my front door light did not work - I had tried most everything, namely changed the bulb, checked the breakers, etc but I could still not fix it. I was then told that the repair would fall within their troubleshooting code, which for identifying the source of the problem and fixing the light would cost me $319.00! This seemed a bit excessive for a $50.0 fixture so I declined. I can only hope that the next company I call will have a more reasonable pricing system...

We appreciate all of our callers and or customer's to provide feedback. Unfortunately, this caller does not understand electricity and or troubleshooting. She noted to replace a $50.00 light fixture for $319.00 is a high price to pay. I agree. However, the fixture may or may not be the problem. It could be a defective switch, lost neutral, and or lost power wire, which could be caused anywhere within the circuit breaker panel to the light fixture. This could take 30 minutes to troubleshoot or much longer. J & G Electric Co., Inc always wants to be forthcoming with pricing, no one wants to think they are going to get a bill for a $100.00 and then come to find out the cost is $400.00-$500.00. This is why we offer fixed pricing, so there are never any surprises to our customers. We also offer time and material rates for customers as well. Description of Work: They installed lighting fixtures, installed hard wired smoke detectors, installed electric switches and worked on other switches, installed a bathroom vent fan. The fan installation turned out to be complicated because of the location of the ducts but Yaris got it done nicely. |I'm very happy with the work and would use them again.
