It went very well. I was impressed.

We had multiple lights on dimmers that either weren't working or seemed to have some issue (very warm switches). When I called J&G and talked to Joe, I also told him that I'd like the other dimmer lights in my house checked out as well, because we bought our house after it had been flipped by a development company and had found that a lot of work hadn't been done very well. Also, my husband has had a lot of migraines since we moved in, and in doing some research I learned that exposure to bad wiring (or whatever causes "dirty electricity") can cause migraines. So of course I wanted to make sure these lights were wired correctly. Tony came out soon after I called and was very prompt and professional. He tested all the dimmers and transformers and found that the transformer in the kitchen was bad, and there seemed to be too little power coming out of the bedroom light transformers (i.e., they may be in the process of getting burned out). He also found that we have too much voltage coming in to those lights, which may explain the problems we've been having. The dimmers in a couple of the rooms were low quality, so he changed those while he was there on the first trip. He recommended changing the transformers in the kitchen and bedroom, which he would do during a second appointment when he had the parts. When the new transformers were installed, he showed me that the lights cannot be turned up all the way (still) or they start blinking in and out. This is because there is too much voltage coming in to the lights. I was disappointed by that, because I was hoping to have fully functional lights, but I didn't know what else to do about it, and started wondering why I had bothered getting the bedroom light fixed at all since it was working before but just couldn't be turned up all the way. I thought the kitchen light would be an improvement at least, until it got dark. Once it was dark enough to see the light, I could tell that the kitchen and bedroom lights were now flickering at all settings, and that I could not turn either of the lights up far enough to actually gain any useful light from them before the flickering was too intense. The end result was very disappointing after the sticker shock I experienced...$1309. I was expecting $700-800, so not even close. The price is a result of their "fixed price" rate schedule (and not knowing up front exactly what I'd need to pay for), which is fine if you're just having one transformer or dimmer installed, but if you don't get any kind of reduced rate for quantity, you end up overpaying for labor by quite a lot. I know this type of work isn't cheap, but I think paying over $200/hour for labor is way too much. Especially if you don't get the results you were looking for! I later called Joe back and told him about the flickering, and he recommended I contact Pepco and tell them I have an overvoltage problem. I feel like that problem should have been anticipated, and that I (the customer) am bearing an unfair cost and burden in this deal. Also, I had to call back to ask what I could do about the flickering, although he was very helpful when I did. Long story short, I'd recommend them for very straightforward jobs that don't involve a lot of problemsolving or having multiple items done. They are responsive and I think do high quality work as far as I can tell. But the pricing does not seem fair for multiple items, and the problemsolving wasn't the best. Now I'm concerned that my expensive new transformers will be burned out by the same overvoltage problem that created the problem in the first place, but I will try to get Pepco out as soon as possible. There are no guarantees that this will solve the problem though. Materials cost: $460 (all high-end materials, which I asked for) Labor cost: $849 (for approx 3.5 to 4 hours total for two trips)

It all went very well. I would have liked to have them put a surge protection on the other electric panel but the price they quoted me was too high, (in the $300+ range). Only one panel was included in the big deal. It was fine though and they were very professional.

Eric was very helpful. He arrived promptly, and gave me a call in advance. His work was efficient and very neat. Highly recommended.

J&G is a company that provides exemplary service, not only with fixing the problem at hand, but also in providing valuable advice on how to continue to improve your electrical systems. When Eric and I first had a phone conversation, he helped me to make some improvements to my lighting situation just by teaching me how to take some basic corrective actions. At my home, he was generous in sharing exactly how he remedied the situation, so that I could continue to make improvements on my own. For example, he taught me how to make the lighting connections more secure on my high-end lighting fixtures that were notorious for flickering on and off -- without me being afraid of giving myself an electrical shock. We talked through the fixtures and the transformer box, studying the amount of wattage allowed. He helped me to discover that I could enhance my lighting with an additional fixture that can simply be ordered online. He also taught me how to better secure a cannister fixture in my ceiling that holds my recessed lighting, which was something that was never accomplished by the original construction crew when my apartment was first built. All in all, he provided outstanding service, from the technical as well as the mentoring perspective.

The exterior lights for my building use a photocell to turn on and off when it is dark, but they have been malfunctioning for a few weeks, periodically coming on at random times, but mainly not operating at all. We had our management company look at the lights three times, but they could never find the problem. We called and scheduled the repair with J&G and were given a very reasonable quote over the phone. Eric from J&G came by early on a holiday morning at the scheduled time, inspected the lights and the photocell, and made the repairs in about 30 minutes. One of the best experiences with a vendor we had have in a long time, we would highly recommend J&G Electric and Eric for any electrical work.

Eric was very responsive and always professional on the phone. He came on time and accomplished the work very quickly. I would highly recommend this business and will use them again for other electrical needs in the future.

Eric of J&G Electrical was very professional and accommodating -- able to fit in service calls with only a couple days' advance notice. Despite some complications in the design of the wall cavity in which the oven combo had to fit, Eric was able to get the unit connected to the 240V line and installed perfectly. I will definitely call P&G for any future electrical needs.

Eric called at least 30 min before the scheduled appointement and arrived earlier than scheduled. He was quite professional, customer friendly as well as able to communicate his knowledge in such a way that I was quite at ease with him providing the service.The work was exceptional and even though it was something I could have done myself, the peace of mind that there was not an electrical accident looming was WELL worth paying for the service. I would gladly call on J and G for future electric needs and suggest the same to others!

Eric called before he came to let me know he was running into a little bit of traffic, he came maybe 10 minutes later. He was friendly and professional. He looked at the jobs I asked him about and really seemed to know his stuff. I have used other companies in the past but was impressed with his experience and ease at solving problems. I needed an outdoor outlet and he found that we had one but it was not functioning. He worked on it, cleaned it, updated it, and altered it since it had been hooked up to a photo-sensor and could only function at night. We can now use it safely day and night. He also offered suggestions for our motion sensor flood light out back near our garage. He said he could put on another sensor but they usually only last a few years, we decided to have him fix the existing flood light but turn it on manually ourselves. He also took off a timer switch for another flood light so now we can use it at any time. We also discussed with him a few lighting problems we would like to address in the future, for example a dark, long driveway that we would like better visibility at night. He offered a few suggestions at reasonable prices. He also offered some suggestions for landscape lighting. Both of these jobs we would definitely consider in the future. He was reliable, professional, and very knowledgeable about electric issues. He worked efficiently and his prices are very fair. They are based on what he does, not how long it takes him. For example, I asked him to look at some bathroom sconces and he told me it would cost $93 per sconce to replace them - whether it took 1 hour or 4 hours. Also, any time you call his company he is the only employee and he will be the electrician that comes to your home each time.

The electrician Eric was very friendly and knowledgeable. The final price was the price estimated over the phone. The electrical work was done very professionally, and I would hire them again.

Joey was very effective in communicating before the scheduled appointment to make sure he knew the type of electrical panel we had (requested we snap a few photos and email them to the office) . He was professional in communicating via phone and in person and the appointment went smoothly. I am quite pleased with the service provided.

Scheduling was tricky because of my child's performance schedule but the electrician altered his schedule to suit my needs. He arrived at the agreed upon time and first asked about my concerns. He was told of a connection done by a member of a remodeling team that resulted in a circuit failure and electricity being lost in different parts of the house. The contractor was nowhere to be found. The electrician diagnosed the problem and fixed everything. He also asked if there was anything else I had concerns about. I had a wish list item and that was to have an outlet put in a lab established for my daughter in our home. The outlet would enable her to use her microscope and other equipment. The electrician fulfilled this wish with exceptional joy. He was very much interested in doing whatever he could to support a child with an interest in the sciences. He even made her a bell from scrap material as a surprise to demonstrate for her the wonders of electricity. Of course now I have to hear the bell every day! With the exception of the fine work done by the electrician there was no evidence of him working at my home. He was very efficient and he cleaned up well after himself. This is the only electrical company that I will use and recommend.

$175 for Whole House Lightning and Surge Protection! He installed a surge protector on on the main house panel. The deal was listed as $175.00. I ended up paying another $90 to get the high end surge protector. In the fine print it said the surge protector was extra, which I missed initially. It took several weeks to coordinate a visit. I ordered the service on 11-14-12. I initially talked with them around 11-19-12. The service was done on 12-7-12. Initially they asked for a photo of the panel, which I sent immediately. They lost that one and I had to resend 1.5 weeks later. Took another week or so to coordinate a visit. It took him about 15 minutes to install the high end surge protector. Not sure the 15 minutes was worth $175.00. The electrician was very professional and polite. A very nice and friendly person.

Eric arrived on time on the morning of the appointment. He was at once professional, positive, and energetic. He carefully covered his shoes to be sure he didn't track dirt into our condo. After a quick tour of all of the three tasks we needed him to complete, he got right to work. He was very creative in figuring out how to install the new sockets and worked hard to avoid making unnecessary holes in the walls. I felt that Eric was clearly smart and skilled. I liked his upbeat, can-do attitude and felt that he clearly knew what he was doing. We will use J & G again because of Eric.

In my two experiences with J&G they've been responsive and professional in both cases. It has been the same electrician (Eric) who's come out both times and he has been consistently on time and friendly. J&G charges you by the job, not by the hour. I can't help but feel that I've come out ahead in this as both jobs have turned into multi-hour projects that Eric continued to plug away at until they were right. During my first experience I paid J&G $175 to install a ceiling fan which took the better part of three hours. I was installing the ceiling fan myself and quickly got a little over my head with the wiring (there was some funny things going on). I called on a Saturday and while Eric wasn't able to come out until Monday, he walked through exactly what I needed to do to make sure everything stayed safe over the phone. On the second occasion I paid $226 for him to identify the problem with a couple of outlets and install the equipment that was required to get them working right . All in all, pretty reasonable rates for a skilled electrician. Wouldn't hesitate to use again.

Eric answered the phone when I called about the problem with our outdoor lights and he explained their pricing structure so that there would be no misunderstandings about their charges when the work was done. He also explained that if I wanted to pick up a new set of motion sensor lights in case it was needed, I could save some money that way -- otherwise he would bring along a unit from their stock. He came the next day and performed the work in a personable and professional manner. Subsequently I noticed that a different outdoor light that had been operating before, was no longer working. I called Eric and he immediately scheduled a return visit (under the warranty) next week to see if he had overlooked something.

They came over at a non-scheduled time after trying to find a time and them not offering much. When they arrived, I realized that the whole experience to that point had been pretty ridiculous and decided to cut bait before too much was done. Angie's List gave me a refund, which I was really grateful for and gave me more confidence to try the deals in the future.

Excellent. Eric arrived promptly and gave me an approximate amount for the job as one task could possibly be more complicated than it looked. He is very personable with such a positive attitude that he made it sound easy. His work is efficient and meticulous. He also had great ideas for an area where I needed better light. I already have rescheduled him and this company is now in my Rolodex for all electrical work. We are new to area so not sure but I felt their bill was reasonable.

I can't recommend Eric / J & G Electric more highly. They're the best service I've gotten from Angie's List. This was part of an Angie's list Big Deal for 2 hours of electrical work. Eric went above and beyond this and fixed everything we asked in a timely and quality manner and gave us additional advise about what to do with the electric box on the outside of our house. I have recommended his work to several friends and family since and they've all been incredibly impressed and happy with his work. Again, I highly recommend him and J and G electric.

Joe was so good that I immediately called to have him do some work that he found problematic when he did an inspection. He is great!
