They asked questions to diagnose my issue of half the house on low power. He stated it sounded like an issue with the power coming into the house and it would be a waste of money to come out on a service call. He said to call Pepco. He was right and it didn't cost me anything and Pepco is repairing the issue. I will use J&G in the future based on their honesty.

I have used J G Electric several times. Eric is very responsive and does great work.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were okay. The guy was knowledgeable. There was nothing that stood out. He told me what needed to be done, did a courtesy inspection and that was it. It wasn't anything extraordinary. He came and stayed for a few minutes and looked around. The interaction was very positive. He was courteous. I didn't spend any additional. I think I would use them again for something minor.

I called J&G Electric as my kitchen ceiling lights were not working correctly. I believe the problem started a while ago when we remodeled our kitchen and installed recessed lighting. When I replace one of the 3-way switches that was not working,, it blew my circuit breaker - even though I had wired it exactly like the one I replaced. I called and asked for a service call. I spoke with Joey, and although he could not come to my house, he patiently walked me through the wiring of the switches. I am a pretty handy guy, and have done some minor electrical work before. As it turned out, one of the switches had been miswired, and after my little repair, caused 2 light switches to short out.. With his help and consultation over the course of about 2 hours, we identified and resolved the problem over the phone.. He would give me instructions, end the call, I would carry them out, and call him back. He answered his phone right away, and we would proceed to the next step. I was so impressed that he was willing to do this over the phone and not make a house call. It did not cost me a dime, except for new wall switches. Two thumbs up for J&E Electric

The only problem I had was that I was confused on what the Big Deal was for. The work that I needed done and the Big Deal work did not match up. We were eventually able to schedule the work, and the work that they did was fine.

One of the owners, Joey, came with another gentlemen. They came on time and were very polite. I have used them in the past and I like working with them because they charge you per job; for example he charges $129 to replace a dimmer switch and $109 to replace a regular switch. They worked quickly and answered any questions I had, even giving me tips about how I could improve certain items in the future. He also did a few extra jobs for no charge. We have had problems with our recessed lights in the kitchen popping out of the ceiling, he noted they were not put in properly and carefully put 3 of them back into place fitting snugly. I also asked him about an outdoor outlet that wasn't working, he checked it out and discovered all I needed to to was push the reset button. Can't believe I didn't see that myself. They are very helpful, respectful, honest, and professional. I would highly recommend them.

Eric arrived exactly when he said he would for the job estimate and the two days he performed the work inside and outside of my house. He was very courteous, knowledgeable about his work, and he cleaned up after the jobs were completed. Not only would I use J&G Electric again, I would not hesitate to recommend them.

This company is great! I call Joey on New Years Eve and explained the problem in our apartment with an electric outlet. Joey pointed out that this outlet functioned in a special way and save me a $189 service call Thanks!

It took a week for them to come out to do the work and they were able to do in the morning so I did not have to miss work. The technician that came out was very knowledgeable and educated me on other services I may need. My experience was great and I plan on using them again in the future. I really liked the work they did and they cleaned up well after themselves.

The HVAC contractor came back upstairs and said, boy, you taught me something today. And I said, no, Joey taught us both. He remarked that so often contractors are very protective of their knowledge and unwilling to help out on the spot like that because it can cost them business. But of course the reality is that service like that wins huge points--with other trades and with residential customers like me. There's still the question of what tripped the breaker in the first place, and for that I don't have an answer. But I do know who my first call will be if the problem persists.

Excellent work and service. We can't say enough great things about Eric - knowledgable, courteous, friendly, prompt, trustworthy. He told us what he was going to do and did it perfectly. He even called the next day to check on the new installations. Some of the prices did seem a little high, but we really don't have much context, so we can't honestly complain. In any case, the service makes up for any cost premium there may be. We recommend Eric's service highly.

Having used J&G before, I knew that they were expensive, but I was really surprised by the $546 bill to install two hardwired smoke detectors. That they showed up 2 hours late made the sting worse. When they didn't show up during their appointment window (10a-noon), I waited a little bit and, because I had not heard anything from them, I gave them a call and learned that they were still at another job. About an hour later (a little after 1pm) they called me to say they were leaving their job in Chevy Chase and were en route to Capitol Hill. An hour later (a little after 2pm), the two-man crew--a master electrician and an apprentice--arrived. I provided them with the two hard-wired smoke detectors that the master electrician and told me to buy. They worked for 90 minutes. I understand that things can run late, but it can be inconvenient when a contractor does not call to let you know they are going to be significantly late. The master electrician took several calls about other jobs while he work working at my house, so I'm not sure what the disconnect was. I have no reason to doubt the quality of their electrical work, and they seem like knowledgeable people about their trade, but at their steep prices ($546 for 90 minutes of labor) and lateness, I will look to another Angie's List vendor for my next electrical project.

Honestly, it was very difficult to pay an electrician a rate higher than what I make as a physician. For 7 hrs of work, his labor costs were about $1600...pretty darn steep. I had to pay extra fees for him to patch the drywall holes, and then there was residual work left for me to complete the following days. While he was personally very nice, it is tough to stomach paying such a high fee when I'm asked to complete the drywall repairs. I wouldn't call them again.

From the scheduling through the final clean-up J&G performed very well. My initial call was answered when Joey was on another job. He called back the same day. We talked through the work I wanted done in an un-rushed manner. I was given a price quote at the end of the call. The day of the scheduled work Joey called to give me a more precise arrival time. He arrived on time, reviewed the work to be done, then quickly and professionally went about getting it done. I was called in at the end of each project to test and review. When he finished Joey cleaned up the work areas.

Technician was very friendly, professional and polite. Work was done at the scheduled time. Honest and knowledgeable service.

Installer/ co-owner? Was professional, friendly, and efficiently completed job. He answered questions about a future kitchen lighting project with a 'ballpark' estimate of costs. I will hire them to do this project.

They were very responsive with email I had but very complex with the common rooms inspection when we bought the house and there was a lot of stuff that we were trying to fix. And they were very responsive in that respect which is why we used them but they were just so expensive and it was hard because I had so much like various work to do. It was very hard to get multiple people to provide me with quotes so that is why we used them.

Professional and friendly. Eric was delightful, informative, very fair in price. Great communication and efficiency from beginning to end!

The overall experience was great and I would hire them again. 1. Scheduling an Estimate: I called at 9pm to schedule an estimate and to my suprise, Eric picked up. We had an estimate scheduled for later that week. He knew I had to work so said he would call 30-45 minutes before he was going to arrive so I could head home and not lose a day. 2. The Estimate: Eric called me 45 minutes before arriving to tell me what time he'd be there. He arrived at the given time and gave me an estimate for a number of jobs I was thinking about doing. The most impressive thing about the estimate, besides Eric being very professional, was he looked in the attic to see how he would vent out the exhaust. NO OTHER COMPANY DID THAT. I had gotten a number of estimates before and saw that J&G prices were slightly higher than everyone else. However, due to Eric's professionalism, no pressure costing structure and the reviews on Angie's List, on the spot, I scheduled him to come out the following week. (FYI, we had to provide our own exhaust fan but since Home Depot sells them it wasn't a big deal) 3. The job: Eric called 45 minutes ahead of the scheduled time to say he was running on time. He arrived and set out to work. The job took 3.5 hours. After he was done, he cleaned up thoroughly, asked if I wanted to check his work and gave me a receipt when I asked for one. Conclusion: The entire process was easy. I did not feel pressured, taken advantage of or cheated. While time will tell if he did a quality job, it certainly apperas he did. The best thing is de did what he said he was going to do, when he said he was going to do it, and even when faced with a few minor suprises in the wall and ceiling, he rolled with the punches and didn't try to charge more.

The morning this work was to be performed was very rainy. J&G electricians arrived on time and completed the work as requested, while ensuring my living room carpet was kept free of water and muddy tracking from going back and forth to the truck to bring for equipment. When the work was completed, I had an outlet available for a seating area in the entertainment room of the basement, and lighting in the laundry room which is exactly what I wanted. These gentlemen did their work with efficiency and professionalism, and made sure any mess from the work was completely cleaned before they left. This is the second time I have used J&G, and will be happy to call them for any electrical work I may need in the future.

The electricians arrived on time and proceeded to check the identified location for the outlet, the wiring available, and the wiring in the breaker box to ensure everything would be done according to code and in a safe manner. They were polite and professional, and explained all they were doing. The work was done quickly and efficiently, and a thorough clean up was done when the work was completed. They also took the time to discuss other work I needed to arrange to have done, and gave a written quote for this work. I was very pleased with the job they did and would be happy to recommend J&G to anyone needing their services.

Eric is a joy to work with. His upbeat approach to his work is contagious. I called J&G when I needed electrical work the next day (had a bad experience with two other electricians: one did work so poorly that I was concerned and the other just wasted my time). I wanted to have all my work done by permit in DC and it is not easy to find tradesman that want to take a job that needs or the owner wants a permit. Eric was very happy to take care of the permit, inspection, etc. And his costs were competitive with those that didn't want to be bothered with permit work. He wired several new lights, installed new light fixtures, wired a bathroom that was a total remodel, and restored electricity to my upstairs that had been cut by a previous electrician. The work took several visits as it had to be coordinated with my other tradesman. Eric was easy to work with and he made his schedule work to accommodate my projects. There were times he came as scheduled but the others were not ready for him. Eric found a way to make his visit productive. He would run the new wiring, or install new switches, or switch our recessed light casings. And he had no problem coming back a couple days later when they were ready for him to work in the bathroom. Eric even took the time to show me how to do some of my things on my own, so I wouldn't have to pay someone. Just an incredibly positive experience (and not all experiences during the renovation have been good). Call J&G when ever you need an electrician, I will definitely use Eric again and again and again. Thank you J&G!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They installed it and did what they said they would. I went and bought my own switch at Home Depot for $7-8. I asked them what they would charge if they picked it up and it was at least $30. So it’s worth going down and getting them yourself unless the person’s not confident to know what to buy.For what they did, I didn't have any problems with them.

The electrician Eric was prompt and nicely explained all the work before he started. They have a great flat pricing system that really takes the uncertainty out of electrical work. The work done was fast and very high quality. I am glad to have a electrician that I can trust and will surely call on his services again. I would recommend their services to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy electrician.

All they basically did was provide an estimate for work that needed to be carried out. They went through the house and told me what they would need to do. However, I don't see how this was any different from just asking them to come out and give me a quote on regular work. I didn't get anything special besides a list of repairs needed. That being said the gentleman who came out was very nice and got through everything quickly.
