The installation, and clean up was very good. And, the first two calls for replacement of broken windows was taken care of promptly. When a third window needed replacement, they would not come out until I paid a $90.00 fee, which was not in the contract. However, they eventually came and replace one of the windows. By eventually, it took them over 3 months to come out and replace the window, because they were too busy installing other contacted windows. This past winter, approximately in January, I called the company to tell them that the sliding glass doors seal was broken and we were getting condensation between the panes. I wanted them to come out and fix, or replace the doors. One earlier conversation that I had with the company indicated that the window company that had built the doors, had gone out of business so it was more difficult for them to replace the window. I stated that I didn't have a contract with the window company but with them. Since January, we have contacted Homefix multiple times. Always they indicated that a crew would come out and measure the windows effected. They never came. This happened several time. Then they said that they couldn't come out because the subidary that we had signed the contract with was no longer in College Park, this makes no sense, as the Gaithersburg office had come out and replaced windows prior to this. I then had my husband call several times, they indicated that we needed to speak to a Mr. Morse. He never returned the calls. We offered to send a copy of the contract, as they indicated that they couldn't find us anywhere. They declined. So, we still have not gotten any satisfaction. The Better Business Bureau, and Yelp all have listed the same problem with this company.
Description of Work: Replaced all windows and patio door. The contract contains a lifetime warrantee for replacement of any broken window, plus repair or replacement of any window screens. The contract contains a 48 hour emergency service policy.

Look them up on the web. Extremely high pressure sales tactics: 1 Salesman was a vice-president of marketing, therefore he does not need a commission 2 Initial price was outrageous - over $12,000, but if you buy today price will be under half that 3 Special price is because you allow us to put a small sign in the garden for advertising 4 Said that because they were a model home installer, the shingle company would likely send someone out to inspect the roof 5 Additional costs for reflashing the skylights No problems with the installation or quality that I know of. Efficient installation. However, they seem determined not to give me an invoice or receipt of payment or a copy of the warranty. Calling the company (5 times for me) gets you a receptionist who says the person who sends out invoices is in a meeting but will send it out "next week". I do not know why an invoice/receipt and copy of the guarantee is such a problem for them but it does not auger well for a future situation that involves a warranty repair.

I have hired Homefix of Gaithersburg to install a brand new roof back in July 23, 2013. One of the main reasons I bought their service was their 20 year warranty on the roof. They promised to fix anything goes wrong within 20 years of installation. During the month of April 2014, within eight month after installing brand new roofs, my brand new roof started to leak. I have placed numerous phone calls and left literally 100s of messages to these guys. They promised to fix my problem right away. Their insurance company sent them two letters as well to fix my issues dated 5/1 and 5/9. The Homefix people all but disappear. Please be aware of this company. They are fraud. I plan to take legal action against them. Whenever you hear Homefix hold onto your wallet and call police.

I would never recommend HomeFix of Gaithersburg. It is confusing as there are other companies by the name of ?HomeFix? that are reliable businesses. It is unfortunate the HomeFix of Gaithersburg gives them a bad name. If you want good siding, excellent workmanship, and a prompt response to your phone call, contact HomeFix Custom Remodeling in Fairfax and talk to Adam. Tell him I sent you. A damaging wind storm on March 17, 2014, blew siding off the ridge of my home and broke a down spout. Since HomeFix Gaithersburg had installed my siding and lifetime warranteed it, I called HomeFix Gaithersburg. After leaving multiple messages, I was finally able to get through ? only to be told someone would get back to me in 12 to 48 hours. Today is April 5 ? no word from Home Fix Gaithersburg. I had to have another company ? HomeFix Custom Remodeling - come out and repair the damages. But for having another company repair the damages because Home Fix Gaithersburg would not honor its warranty, I had a similar experience when a storm damaged my house siding in March 2011. Home Fix Gaithersburg told me then that I would have to pay for the repairs ? again, even though it was warranteed. I had paid over $22,000 alone for the siding a year earlier ? in 2010. When I complained, a man who identified himself as ?James Wilson? told me that the company would honor the warranty. Shortly after that conversation, another man identifying himself as ?Merrick Morse,? ?owner of Home Fix Gaithersburg,? called me and rudely said that Home Fix Gaithersburg would not pay for the repairs. We had a conversation. The repairs were made ? I was never billed.

I contacted Tim Thompson, Director of Marketing of Homefix, Gaithersburg. He told that me he no longer work with them. He gave me a phone number for someone name James, no luck either. I called their main office in Baltimore, sent emails, and they keep telling me Homefix Gaithersburg is a separate entity, bought by another company in 2007, and kept giving me the same unresponsive phone number. Today someone named Jon Morse wrote me and asked me for copies of my contract and his response was that I can tell by the license number that my job was not done by his office. He offered someone that probably could look at my window towards the middle of next week. There will be a service charge of $80.00. Homefix corporation logo and information appears all over my contract and warranty. Every hour that passes feels like been victim of a scam. I am filing a BBB complaint. Stay away from these people.
Description of Work: I replaced all of my home windows in 2010, 19 in total. After cleaning my second floor bathroom window, the window does not close properly. This happened on Jan 20, 2014. I have been trying to get an answer for the past three days, with no luck at all. Also upper and lower sash have condensation in between the glass. This is happening in three windows. I bought Xtreme Windows with Triple Coverage Lifetime warranty in 2010.

It was okay. It is good. The windows have lived up to their expectations. When I contacted them they told me they were going to install a whole new window, I guess they call them a replacement window which is something that goes inside the frame of the existing window. So that would have been a little bit of miscommunication there so I got passed that the windows were good. I did some research after they did my windows and I think there is probably other companies out there that can provide the same quality windows probably at a cheaper price.

Let me start by saying that this is a review for Home Fix of Gaithersburg The process started out with a knock at my door from a contractor asking if I'd be interested in a free estimate on roofing and windows. He showed me his official looking contractor's license and since I knew I'd be in the market for both services soon, I figured, "why not, it's a free estimate", so I scheduled an appointment. The representative promply called his scheduling mangager right in front of me to confirm a date/time and made me promise that both decision makers of the home would be present for the estimate. (HMMMMM). The Director of Marketing came out the next day to do the estimate. She was over an hour late. She sat down to explain what her company does and how great their prices are and specifically mentioned that they are on Angie's List with some very good reviews. I Googled Home Fix Corporation right in front of her and looked at their website. I later discovered by refering back to her business card that the website listed on her business card is not the same site or company as the Home Fix Corporation she claimed to be a part of. More on this later. She inspected my windows and did a heat lamp demonstration and promptly told me I needed new bedroom and basement windows, that mine were in bad shape. She gave me a quote on replacing those windows along with a whole roof replacement (without having seen or measured my roof as it was dark outside when she finally arrived for the appt). She told me that if I signed a contract that night, I'd get a 40% discount. My concern of course is why wouldn't the discount be available to me the next day? As I considered her offer, she could tell I was not comfortable with the $ committment and even offered to cut her prices. We haggled for a bit and arrived at what I thought was a good deal for a whole new roof and 4 new custom windows (2 of which are oversized). Since she was willing to meet me in the middle on pricing, I felt mostly comfortable with her and signed a contract pending HOA approval. On my way in to work the next day, I started doing some digging and signed up for Angie's List. THIS IS WHERE IT ALL GOES WRONG FOR ME as I learned that THIS COMPANY is suposedly NOT AFFILIATED WITH HOME FIX CORPORATION. Home Fix of Gaithersburg seems to be allowing it's CUSTOMERS TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE THE SAME COMPANY AS the Home Fix Corporation who are getting good reviews on Angie's List. I called Home Fix Corporation and they had no idea who these people were. I eventually found some reviews for Home Fix of Gaithersburg and they were aweful; same description of the gorrilla marketing tactic as was used on me. This company wants you to sign the contract right away so you don't have time to do your research or think, period. I decided at that point to cancel my contract but conveniently, the duplicate copy of the page I signed indicating the cancellation process was not returned to me at signing. I called the office and someone had the owner return my call. When I let him know that I wanted to cancel, he was extremely rude and unprofessional, and told me he doesn't want my business anyway. I asked him about getting a copy of the contract and what I needed to do to officially record my notice of cancllation and he said, "you told me you want to cancel so consider it done". Again, I asked him how I'm supposed to protect myself and should I follow up with the Dirctor of Marketing who was at my house the night before and he said, "do whatever you want". I called said Director and asked her for the missing contract page. She acted surprised that she hadn't given it to me and offered to drop it off at my house that night. While it took her more than a day and a half to return the paperwork to me, she did eventually return it and I followed the procedures indicated on the contract to cancel within the 3 day allotted time period (just barely). It was not a disasterous exerience but the pressure tactic they used definitley left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I still have no indication from anyone if my contract was ever canceled. Incedentally, the windows that were in such "dire need of replacement" were easily serviced by the original installer. . . for free under their lifetime warranty.

The salesperson arrived late without calling ahead to notify me of the 20 minute delay . He was pleasant upon arrival and began his sales pitch interjecting early on that if I decided to go with his company at that visit I would receive 40% off and all I had to do in return was to allow the company to place a sign in front of my home for 30 days and allow my address to be used as a reference. He completed his brief presentation and left me to read a brochure because according to him I "seemed smart" so I could review the info while he measured etc. He then presented me with a quote. His 40% off cost was commensurate with other full price estimates I received prior for equivalent services /expertise and brand of materials. Overpricing/mark-up to lure customers in??? I informed him that I was not ready to commit as I had other companies to review before my final decision. He became clearly annoyed, stood up and packed up his goods , taking back brochures that he had supposedly given to me. He told me that he knew he would not be hearing back from me. I genuinely stated I hoped he did not feel our visit was a waste of time and his response was "this was a waste of my time". As he left he basically informed me he drove 2 hours to get to my home for nothing. My no obligaton free-in home estimate was the most unprofessional encounter I have ever had with a salesperson of any sort. Were I not an informed and educated consumer I might have fallen for the 40% off deal. The salesperson's lack of professionalism and the company's perceived lack of integrity--based on their 40% off offer as he presented it to me - were unacceptable. Based in this alone I will not be contacting this company in the future for any services.

This was a nightmare. I was stalked, harassed, now Im scared as these people know where I live. They have come to my house 3x in one year. I have TWO NO SOLICITING SIGNS ON MY DOOR. When I ask them why they are soliciting my house, they tell me they arent, they are offering a FREE ESTIMATE, so for some reason that does not count as "soliciting". I have told my neighborhood Watch Program and they informed me businesses need a permit to solicit, so we asked them for their permit to solicit, they did not have one. I am also in charge of my street in the neighborhood watch, so I try to take care of my elderly neighbors. When I read the complaints about these companies, I was blown away. They prey on the old and families who dont speak english well. They are HORRIBLE!!! To find out they are all owned by the same company and are getting away with this, was very upsetting to me. One of the WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE!!!! The entire reason I got the No Soliciting signs was because of them in the first place, they have since come back two times and obviously cant read the signs, nor do they even care. I was disgusted with this company and their work ethics!!!
Description of Work: This was one of the WORST experiences of my life!!! I am a smart business woman and I wanted a FREE ESTIMATE for siding on my house. I had no idea what was going to become of this horrible experience. I signed off to get a FREE ESTIMATE. After the man told me lie after lie after lie, about being the owners son, could give me the best deal, etc... I realized this was just going to be a bad idea. I had no idea what was about to happen. I went to cancel the contract that I had signed. The salesman had convienently taken off the last page of the contract, THE INTENT TO CANCEL page was mysteriously missing. I wrote a letter to terminate my FREE ESTIMATE and faxed it to ALL of their locations. I told them what they were doing was 100% illegal. The very next morning, I had a contractor knock on my door to START THE JOB!!!! I was besides myself with anger. I called the 'rep' to no avail. I called the company, to no avail. Apparently me faxing all of their locations hit home with them. The rep that had gotten me to sign off on the contract was at the golf course all day celebrating his "SALE". I guess he found out the sale did not go thru and he then called me 11x in 6 minutes!!! He continued to call my house for the rest of the day. By night, at 8:30 he called and my husband answered the phone and very nicely said we had termed the contract. THE MAN ARGUED WITH MY HUSBAND THAT IT WAS ALREADY SIGNED AND WAS GOING THRU!!! My husband told him not to call us again. The man had the gall to call right back and yell at my husband!!!! First thing in the morning, I was on the phone with a manager. I was actually scared this man was going to stalk me. I had a very pleasant conversation with the man who was willing to help me. I told him because he had addressed the issue, I would not post a complaint. Unfortunately a year later, guess who shows up at my door!!! HOMEFIX. I did some research on this company afterwards. I called them on the spot with their sales man at my door. He said he was from HOMEFIX CORPORATION, I called them, they tell me NO, thats not us, thats HOMEFIX CORPORATION OF GAITHERSBURG. So, I went onto the State of Marylands case search to find out, they are ALL OWNED BY THE SAME PEOPLE!!! They have over 100 lawsuits against them. Apparently the way they get away with this, is they are continually rotating "resident agents" between all of their companies. But they are ALL owned by the same two people. Turns out ALL HOMEFIX's, are all owned by the same person.

Someone knocked on our door and gave us the typical "we'll be doing work in your area" speech. As usual, the person who comes to your door doesn't really know anything about the product, and has to "call their manager" to schedule a consultation. We did that and then met with the salesperson, who was pleasant, but probably never worked on a roof a day in his life. He was knowledgeable though, giving the typical "flip-book" presentation and talking about how greet the "master elite roofers" from Homefix were. The price seemed reasonable compared to one other estimate we had gotten, so we agreed to the work. Contacting anyone in their office was difficult at times. There seemed to be only one scheduler who could't always be reached, We didn't hear from the salesperson again, until the day the work was done. It was hard to get out of them exactly which Homefix they were, as there seem to be several. They finally said they were Homefix of Gaithersburg. The work was done promptly and seems to be of good quality. The roofers themselves did not seem any more (or less) skilled or professional than anyone else we had dealt with in the past. We haven't had any problems with the roof so far.

The cost was competitive with other offers at the time. The work was completed on time. The problem we have experienced has occurred since we noticed that the gutter guard system did not prevent clogging. At the time of purchase, the sales rep assured us that the company would unclog the gutters without charge if they should ever clog. When we called the company, we were basically laughed at for being gullible, and told we need to do basic maintenance to prevent clogging. The whole idea of installing the guard was to get rid of the need to clean the gutters. Besides the gutter guard is a system that is screwed in and you have to disassemble it to clean it. When we looked back at the paperwork for the installation, wee did not have a written warranty, so we called to get one. I have called 6 times, still have not gotten a return call from the manager or a written warranty. We did finally get the name of the gutter manufacturer so we can at least call another company and get estimate for cleaning. Obviously, we will not use HomeFix again and discourage anyone else from using them.
Description of Work: We had a gutter guard system installed, We were told by the salesrep that if the gutters got clogged, the company would clean the gutters at no charge. We did not receive any written warranty or paper work when the gutters were installed. Recently we noticed that the gutters were clogged and called the company, we were asked why we hadn't contacted them sooner concerning paperwork; there was no warranty that they could give us and they didn't tell us the manufacturer of the gutter guard until 8 calls later. The manager did not return three calls. We will use another company to clean the gutters and definitely will not use this company again.

Since then the coating on the inside surface of the glass has failed to varying degrees, resembling a layer of dirt inside the glass. The failure is progressive--early symptoms get worse over time. They replaced five panels, but as more failed I can get no response from the company even after filing complaints with the BBB and Maryland's Consumer Protection Division. These were highly touted, expensive windows that came with a lifetime warranty. Anyone who had windows installed by this outfit around 2006 is probably experiencing the same problem. Legal action is my next step.
Description of Work: Homefix of Gaithersburg installed 22 of their top-of-the-line Xteme windows in October 2006. This included removing old windows and adding outside metal trim around windows. Initially the windows looked fine, but ultimately proved defective.

My experience started when someone knocked on my door and asked if I wanted an estimate for any work that needed to be performed. Ironically I was looking for a window company to replace windows from the 60s. The guy called his office and made sure I was on speaker so I can hear that they were booked for the day except for an 11am time slot so I took it. The day of the appointment they didn't show up at 11 but called at 1 saying they were on the way. When I told them my appointment was for 1 they told me "no it says anytime after 11 and I'll be there in an hour". The guy that came to give me an estimate was extremely aggressive and made me feel uncomfortable. He told me that I get a one time deal if I sign right then and there 40% off. When I told him I wanted to get other estimates before making a decision he gave me a "crazy" look and pushed further. I don't quite understand how they can literally quote over 5k for the same work tomorrow it would cost me 3k today. You would think that the price should be consistent. Most especially if their competition was quoting 3k. I decided not to go with them simply because of their selling techniques.
