Highs Chimney Svc

We just replaced a wood insert fireplace installed by Highs about 8 years ago with a gas insert. The wood insert that went through the chimney was done incorrectly with the insulation. It was quite a mess to run a new insert due to their poor job.

The appointment was for an estimate for possible chimney repairs. We have had 2 other companies look at the chimney and had an idea of what needs to be done. The tech (Gene) arrived on time, which was the only thing good about the appointment. He was here less than five minutes, barged in the front door, never asked what our concerns were, spent all of the time TELLING me what his opinion was and was rude. He was on the roof for 2 of the 5 minutes, snapped a few pictures and came right down. His assessment was that we need a whole new chimney... to the tune of 10K... Absolutely crazy! It needs some repairs, but no where near to that extent. I would NEVER recommend this company and would suggest the tech take a customer service refresher.

They tell you what you want to hear to do the job then show up without proper equipment, and then the price sart to climb.

Instead of specifically dealing with the leak the individual told me I needed a new chimney from roof to furnace for $1800 because it wasn't the right size pipe for my furnace. Apparently this was a lie as three other companies and our home inspector said the chimney was up to code (and the furnace inspection was inspected and approved by the gas company).
