High's Chimney Sweep & Repair

I had several concerns. A guy came to do the work requested day towards the end of the day and couldn't perform work alone because I had a wood fireplace insert. The fact I had a wood stove insert had been communicated to the person who took my call. He had to return with another person. Meanwhile he gave me a quote on broken mortar and a new chimney cap which he said was cheaper if I got that done right away from one he had on the truck the truck but if I delayed and decided to wait until he came back for the animal removal that offer wouldn't stand, but gave me a office price. When they came back a couple days later they pulled out the insert to get to the animal and removed it. It had been well decaying as I was out of town and two animals had gotten in and died. (By the time I called, I had flies in the house.) They replaced the chimney cap (to prevent more animals from getting in) and removed the carcases, but only bagged them (in a regular garbage bag) and left it on my porch for me to dispose of, saying they couldn't transport them in their truck. Shortly after they left, I noticed the insert was not replaced properly and I had to call them back, as they had left a gap. On the phone they said they moved the fireplace insert back as well as they could, but I persisted and they finally agreed to come back to try to move it more, which they finally did. Flies kept coming into the house for several weeks after the service, so I must assume removal of the carcases didn't include the maggots or non-solid remains. (At least the smell was gone, but I was swatting flies for weeks.) This was shortly before Christmas, and the worst part of the second batch of flies was after guests were gone at least. Positive points however for using a drop cloth and vacuuming to protect the carpeting.

I thought they did a good work. They left my house clean when it was all said and done. When I first moved here, I took them as a recommendation.
