Technician checked my A/C unit. He cleaned the drain line and checked the outside coil and system charge. He checked the fan, fan motor and the compressor operation. He also checked the electrical components and visually inspected the electrical connections and wiring.
Description of Work: I pay $218 annually for a service contract to check my furnace and A/C once in the spring and once in the fall. I also get priority service if I have an emergency.

This write-up is for service performed under the GAC PPMA where they come out every spring and fall to check two heating systems in my house. My annual cost for the PPMA is $318 - which might seem high for two annual maintenance visits, but I feel is a great value. For both of the previous fall and current spring visits, my system happened to have issues right before the visits that needed professional service and repair. Last fall the blower motor failed on my secondary system. The part was under warranty, but the labor was not covered. I got a 20% discount for being a PPMA customer, and had a $20 off coupon from GAC mailings. The repair was complicated requiring GAC to come to the house a total of 3 times to complete the work. The price never increased from the original labor quote, which I thought was very fair and great service. Last week, the morning of my spring maintenance visit, there was a fault code on the thermostat for the primary heating system. I couldn't believe the timing! GAC arrived, as scheduled, about an hour after I discovered the issue. This time it turned out to be a module for the blower system. The service tech had it on hand, and was able to complete the repair at the same time as the routine maintenance check of both systems. There was no charge for the repair as both the part and labor were covered for the primary system (purchased from GAC). I am thoroughly impressed by GAC's service, value and professional staff. I have been doing business with them since the early 2000's and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Maintenance check under the Peak Performance Maintenance Agreement (PPMA), and replaced defective module on blower for furnace.

I cannot say enough good things about GAC! I have very high standards and expectations - and for now 6 years GAC has always met and exceeded my expectations. From the maintenance team that comes out to do the twice a year season checks, to the estimator, management, call center and the installation team - I have not met or spoken to a single person at GAC that was not friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I have had their maintenance contract for years and though my system was old, they always told me it had life left in it and they would do routine tune ups to make sure we were happy. We finally decided to go with a new system because they were offering 3 years free financing and they told us we had only 1-2 years left on the unit before we'd need to start investing larger amounts in repair and replacement. Our estimator, Tanner, was very knowledgeable and very thorough. He gave us several options of varying quality of system in a nice comparison chart. Once we decided on the system we wanted GAC was very helpful in accommodating the installation date that we needed due to work conflicts. Then our installation team came out and were just lovely! They were polite, clean, friendly and kept me informed throughout the entire installation process. In fact, even the owner came out for a site check to ensure that his team was doing OK and to ensure that I was happy. Hands down one of the best companies I have had the pleasure of dealing with. They have solidified a lifetime customer with my entire family.

I called the office to discuss a payment, which had been returned due to an out-of-date address. During the call, they mentioned that the spring service was due and asked if I would be available during the afternoon. I was available, although for only a portion of the afternoon. After a quick consultation, they scheduled the service for the time I was available. The technician showed up several hours in advance of my deadline to leave. His inspection was thorough and rapid. He was extremely professional and provided me with a verbal summary of his inspection. He also explained the new paperless system for receipts and took my signature electronically. I received an email receipt the next day with a detailed accounting of the inspection. I'm very happy with the GAC Services team. I have an annual maintenance contract and, several years ago, when our furnace needed to be replaced, we turned to them for the work. Their prices were excellent and the installation was well done, correcting several mistakes in the previous installation. Other than power outages, over which they have no control, we have had no issues with the new system.
Description of Work: GAC Services performed the semi-annual heating/cooling inspection, as part of their residential annual service contract. This visit was the cooling inspection prior to the spring and summer seasons. There were no issues detected, but the air filter was changed in accordance with the 6 month rotation schedule. We have had no issues with the system, partially due to the regular inspection program.

The man I had my previous HVAC service contract with passed away in January and, before he died, he sold his service contracts to GAC. I learned of this in two letters I received just about the time my spring service was due, one letter from the old company, explaining the death and sale, along with a letter from GAC welcoming me. Since they had my money I figured I?d give them a try. I called GAC on a Monday and scheduled my spring maintenance for Thursday. On Tuesday my A/C made a horrendous noise and I shut it off. Called GAC to ask if we could move the visit up to Wednesday and they said ?sure?. Tech arrived on time on Wednesday, explained that my 19 year old system might not have too many years left. I could spend $1,000 to replace the fan motor and cross my fingers that the condenser didn't go next, or invest in a new Furnace and A/C. He patiently answered all my questions, we went over the pros and cons, and he didn?t talk down to me (which frequently happens as I am an older woman), under the circumstances it was a wonderful experience. While he worked up the estimate for a new system in the van I did a computer search of the company and how much a new HVAC system should cost. I figured I could spend weeks shopping around, but I had travel scheduled for much of April and really didn?t have time for that. I lucked out, there were several rebates available in April from Washington Gas, PEPCO and Bryant, all of which the tech explained. I was given two proposals with two different models, I accepted GAC?s proposal on the spot and they had their Quality Assurance man in my house on Thursday taking measurements and answering my questions (he also arrived right on time). A new Furnace and Air Conditioner were installed on Monday, the furnace passed inspection yesterday, and everything is working well. The new system is so much quieter than my old system and it appears to be very efficient. Everyone I worked with at GAC was wonderful, very nice, professional, answered all my questions. The three man team who installed the system was so upbeat for a Monday morning, I was amazed. They arrived on time and went right to work like a well oiled machine. One started outside on the Air Conditioner while the other began tearing out the furnace, the third was floating, helping each of the others, while unloading the trucks. They had to work in a very tight closet like space but I never heard any grumbling. They sang along with their music, truly seemed to like each other and they answered my questions as they worked. They didn?t seem to be bothered by the fact that I checked in on them often. A very different experience than the one I had 19 years ago when the old system was installed! They warned me that, because of the area was tight, it could take up to 6 hours to complete, which it did. They started a little after 8:00 and were done by 4:00. They left the area spotless and took their time walking me through the operation of the new thermostat, how to send in for the rebates and how to call for the county inspection. All in all, I am happy I stayed with GAC Services and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Installed a new gas furnace and air conditioner plus a new programmable thermostat. With rebates the price should come in around $8,000.00.

I had them install a new bathroom exhaust fan, which included cutting out a hole in the ceiling, installing a new switch and outlet, electrical rewiring, and running duct work out the side of the attic. Very easy scheduling and communications. There was no fee for someone to come out and to give an estimate. They came on time and worked quickly and completed the task ahead of schedule. With an old house with plaster walls, they were very clear on what what I should expect to fix myself. For example, I needed to patch and paint around the new holes for the electoral and vent. Courtesy, fast, and friendly. Definitely recommend them.

My old HVAC system was close to 15 years old and I had a part go bad that would cost $1000 to replace. It was either put money into a system that was nearing the end of its typical lifespan or take that $1000 and put it towards a whole new system. I chose to bite the bullet and not throw good money after bad, as the saying goes. GAC services was already my existing HVAC provider and I never any any complaints about their service - but I still shopped around a bit. In the end, however, GAC offered the best price. I was even able to get a 2 stage Bryant system for less than what competitors were charging for single stage systems. Plus, I already knew that GAC provided great customer service. On installation day "Lil J's Crew" did a great job, got the job done in about 1/2 a day, cleaned everything up, and walked me through the thermostat and how to call for the county inspection. Everyone was friendly and willing to answer any questions. All in all, I am happy I stayed with GAC Services. The system runs great and my electric bills are down $200 in January and February and $150 in March as compared to the last two years' bills for the same months (of course, other variables are at play - most obviously the coldness of the weather one year compared to the others). But still, my heating bills are down so that's great! I highly recommend GAC Services!

The team came out the Friday before, 1/8/16, for an estimate and they arrived on time. They quickly got to work and had an estimate written in about 20 minutes. The tech answered all my questions and the price was well below the other 4 estimates i received for the exact some model. we decided to go with them and on monday 1/11/16, i called and they booked me for 1/16/16, which was impressive. On the install, the same tech that gave me the quote came to do the install which was very nice as he was already familiar with my system. he to work right away. he was prompt, clean, and professional during the entire install. another tech arrived in the middle of the install to handle the electrical work and he too was prompt, clean, and professional. the entire install took about 3 hours. in the end, the humidifier was installed and worked perfectly. i would def recommend this company for other services. in fact, just the week after, i used for an emergency service ($185) as the back plate of my nest failed and was causing my heat and AC to be on at the same time. the tech arrived quickly and had solved the problem very quickly (in about an hour). as i said, i would def recommend this company.

GAC sent a crew of 3-4, completed all duct seal on first day and system install work on the second day. Great care was taken to install the system as per specs discussed with the project manager, work performed was meticulous and crew ensured attention to detail was taken throughout the job.

I had my home air conditioning system replaced by Gaithersburg Heating and Air Conditioning (GAC) and I'm very pleased. From the estimate to the instillation everyone was great. Fritz gave me the initial estimate, Dawn was very helpful and cheerful in the office and John Crooms, John Pew and Jared Carr did the installation. They all were professional, proficient and timely. My only issue was that it took several weeks to have the work done. That's not surprising considering it's the middle of the summer but I wish the instillation could have happed sooner. I had other estimates and GAC was competitively priced and just a cut above the others in professionalism. Good job GAC! You get all As from me!

I am not normally inclined to write reviews about a vendor's performance, but in the case of GAC, I am compelled by gratitude to sing their high praises. My wife and I purchased a new older detached home in Rockville in the summer of 2014. After receiving a variety of estimates, we settled on GAC to replace our HVAC system, which was about 25-years old. They gave us a great deal on a mid-priced high efficiency system, and did a first class job on the installation. But that's only the beginning of the story. Once installed, we had GAC return to seal our ducts to maximize efficiency. During the sealing process, they discovered that there was a major leak somewhere in our duct work. The leak was so big they estimated we were losing about a ton of air inside our walls because of it -- one third of the energy produced by a three-ton system! What a waste! Uncertain of where the leaks were coming from, the president of the company -- himself a master technician -- returned to survey the ductwork using a thermal imaging gun, which detected an elevated heat signature in one of the main trunks coming off of the new furnace. When he cut open the sheetrock, he found a 14" x 16" hole where a poorly repaired patch had given way years earlier. He and his team also found and replaced (just for cost of materials) several poorly insulated duct pipes in the attic that were also contributing to the problem. Now, fast forward to the summer of 2015. While very pleased with our new HVAC system, we noticed that the second floor of the house was about 8-10 degrees warmer than the first floor -on the hottest days -- not an uncommon problem for an older home. So, we contacted GAC to see if there was anything they could do to improve sleeping conditions on the second floor. Who comes out to do our semi-annual inspection and tune-up? You guessed it -- the president of the company!! He spends an hour tweaking things and presto -- the entire house is cool and comfy, and our energy bills are less than they were when we lived in a townhouse. As customer experience goes, it doesn't get any better than that! David S.

I bought a home and my seller paid for a service contract with GAC. Weather turned warm, and I thought the A/C was not working well so I called and made a appointment (which was already paid for in advance). - First, GAC cancelled my appointment and only called one day prior, stating that they had other customers with emergencies. I had already coordinated to take a day or work, so I lost that day of work. - Then, they said they would call back to reschedule - failed to do so for a week. - I called them and complained and they did make a new appointment for a service call. Jerome showed up, and he personally was very good and I thought he did a great job fixing one of my issues and finding another. Unfortunately he diagnosed a coolant leak and stated my A/C unit was essentially not working due to low coolant w/ severe leak. One option was to replace the entire coil at $1700, the other option to replace the entire unit. He wrote all this down, and stated someone would call me on the next business day to schedule a visit for an assessment on costs to replace the unit. - No one called. It's now been a week, and I still have no A/C on my main floor. I called GAC, was placed on hold for an extended period of time, finally gave up. - Now I'm looking for a new service company. I do not recommend this company, and will not use them again. I was pleased with the professionalism of the technician who actually visited, but the office / admin / organization of this company is severely lacking.

They did a detailed look at my existing units and ducts and came up with a good plan and even called back with a better option after discussing my situation with the Bryant rep and were able to get me Pepco's top tier heat pump efficiency rebate. They added a small section of return duct and a new very nice filter enclosure. The guys came to install within the time they quoted and were totally done in about 3 hours with every bit of the old stuff and trash hauled away. They did a pretty clean install as well and managed to shoehorn in all of the new hardware in my little space. They weren't the cheapest option, but what good is buying the cheapest option if the company isn't able to install it correctly or support it if there are problems. I had confidence that GAC could do both of those things.
