+ -1 moreThe one-man servicer was extremely proficient highlighting areas to improve heating/cooling efficiency, contractor/professional installation norms verses the layman/owner installation shortcuts (which were completed on my home), and reviewing warranty and suggested maintenance schedules. He arrived within the prescribed window and completed the job(s) to satisfaction. Fees were as advertised with an option to add an annual service plan (two annual inspections and 20% off service repairs for $179 <which is pretty much the same>) no mess or problems. :-)
Description of Work: My appointment was for Bryant Air Conditioning (post-purchase) inspection and service (for previous owner installed unit), which was completed with no issues found.

+ -1 moreFrom beginning to end, GAC did EVERYTHING right. Our sales rep, Jason Bogat, arrived at our house on time. He was knowledgeable and answered all our questions, both at the initial consultation and throughout our decision-making process. He was available and followed up with us without being pushy. Their quote was highly competitive, and they also submitted our rebate paperwork to PEPCO for us. On the day of the install, they arrived right on time (and maybe a bit early). It must have been a slow day, because there were like 8 service techs working on removing the old furnace and installing the new one. They protected our carpets, moved a couple things around in the laundry room for us, swept the floor... you name it, they did it. They were all polite, efficient, clean and respectful. That crew is welcome any day at my house.
Description of Work: GAC came out to replace our old oil-burning furnace with a new energy efficient Bryant heat pump. They removed and disposed of the old furnace, capped off the oil line, changed out some ductwork, the thermostat, and taught us how to operate our new system.

Based upon the recommendations, we had him come back to do general maintenance and servicing on our units, and also set up our whole house humidifier. Randy was professional, courteous, skilled and knowledgeable. We would highly recommend him.

+ -1 moreMy HVAC unit in the basement was leaking water onto the floor instead of draining into the sump. I had been using another HVAC company to try to repair the problem but they had to come back every 3-6 months. I then hired GAC to take a look. Randy was the technician who performed the work. He discovered that excess condensation from the air conditioning unit was occurring for several reasons. 1) The clean out in the drain line was not closed (caused by me leaving it open), 2) the drain line to the sump was not properly graded, and 3) my Aprilaire inline air cleaner media was causing the fan to pull needed air back through the drain line back into the drain pan and splashing water out of the drain pan into the return plenum and onto the floor. Randy cleaned out the system, plugged the drains, and regraded the drain line. Unfortunately, the water again leaked onto the floor within two weeks. I called GAC again and Randy came right back out the next day. After studying the problem further he was able to determine that the air handler had tilted the whole HVAC system off center. As a result, the drain pan was tilted away from the drain opening, causing the pan to continue to fill with water and overflow into the plenum. With the help of a second technician Randy was able to tilt the entire HVAC system up and install metal shims underneath so that the drain pan now drains properly. I haven't had a problem since and I am now using GAC for semi-annual maintenance visits as well and will use them for any future repairs. What impressed me was their troubleshooting skills and willingness to come right back out when the problem was not totally resolved. I wholheartedly recommend GAC.

+ -1 moreThe beggining of the process went extremely well. The end of the process went very poorly. The grades reflect that. If the VP was up front from the start that the job was outsid ethe comapnines comfort zone, I would have been satisfied and walked away happy. Instead I wasted my time.
Description of Work: I solicited bids from various A/C companies in Novemebr 2012. GAC was one of those companies. The sales agent who came out was prompt, professional and very helpful. I held the quote until Feb. 2013 when I finally got around to actually doing the work as plans changed and other projects took priority. I called the company back up and ended up talking to the vice president. He honored the quote for the unit even though rebates had expired. This was an admirable thing. We discussed what we needed to do to make sure we had everything accounted for and he suggested that we send out the QC person to review some of the work. I was told I would get a call to schedule this shortly. A day and 1/2 later I called back to find out when I would be able to schedule the qc person since I had not heard. I had a phone call within an hour and we scheduled the QC person to come out and review duct sizing and things like that. The person who showed up seemed to have a chip on his shoulder form the opening hello. I went over all I had discussed with the VP and he appeared ot be blinded sided by soem of this. He was very difficult to explain things to and he was bordering on rude at times. Frankly I tried my best to accomodate what he wanted. In the end, I just had to say that I expected GAC ot handle all aspects of the job, I recieved an email back form the VP saying they were passing on the projects. I called back to find out why because, up until I met the QC person, I was strongly leaning towards going with GAC. After talking to the VP I got the impression that the job was beyond the scope he had understood and his price might not be able to cover it. I told him to provide a quote, that ihe was comfortable with. That was tone of the reasons to send the QC person out. I recieved a quote a couple days later that was significantly higher but I was fine with that. However, it did not appear to cover a few items that the QC person suggested we do. I got an email back saying the company was passing and they suggested another company. This experience started out good and wasted my time in the end. It appears that unless it is a straight forward job, they don't want it. I had 5 other companies that had no problem with the job.

We got three or four estimates and this one was close to the second one, so we worked with them and there service was top-notch. I'm not the one who gives A gradings, I'm extremely particular, but their customer service from admin staff to the crew that they sent out and everybody in between really were the best of the boys. They were very responsive. People that they sent out to the house seemed very well trained in customer interaction.
Description of Work: We had a service contract for heating systems with 'Gaithersburg Air Conditioning & Heating Inc'. the service. The inside units, and as well as the outside units all were serviced. We got the heat pump replaced.

+ -1 moreI had a 30 year old furnace that needed an $800 repair so decided to replace the furnace. Gaithersburg Air had the best price for a new furnace and let me know that there was a rebate for a more efficient model that would essentially pay for the difference. I also decided to have them replace the 30 year old AC unit because the price for that was also very good. Every employee who worked on the job from the sales person who gave me the estimate and the installation crew did a superb job. The installation was done on time, and they were incredibly professional, clear and polite.

+ -1 moreThis was a two part process. The first visit they actually come out to make sure that they knew what they would be installing as well as going over all of the details. The second visit was the actual install. They took great care of the house, no issues with tracking in mud and such, and I was very impressed with the effectiveness of the team. The took at old parts with them and had both units, AC and Heating, installed and up and running in about 6 hours. They were great and even followed up to make sure that everything was ok the next day.
Description of Work: I had a complete replacement of my AC and heating until. Initailly I was just looking to have the AC replaced but due to the great specials and rebates that they were offering I was able to get the entire system replaced. The were very responsive and took the time to make sure that all of my concerns were addressed. We also had so duct work done in order to help with the air circulation. I was very impressed that they knew about my style of home and some of the problems other had.

I went with the company because they were highly rated on Angies List for their services and they had a great labor warranty. Everyone I had dealt with in this process was friendly and responsive, from the office staff scheduling my appointments to the people who had installed the furnace. My new furnace was installed within a week after the initial visit. The team was very customer focused, each person was knowledgeable and patient with the questions that I had until I was comfortable. I was unsure about what BTU unit to go with, the staff was thorough and detailed to make sure that I got the most efficient furnace for my house. I am very pleased with my experience.

I got three quotes before deciding on Gaithersburg Air Conditioning. All the quotes were close to the same price, but GAC not only provided the heater, A/C, and upgraded filtration system, they also included the water heater in the price. The system is a Bryant whereas the other quotes were for Courier, and I am pleased with my purchase.
Description of Work: Completely replaced my furnace, air conditioning, coil, thermostat, air cleaner, and water heater. Also placed a vent in the door as required by code.

+ -1 moreI had heard about a plumbing company that did heating and A/C work on a radio station I listen to so I called them and they gave me an estimate, but I didn't get a good feeling about it. Then I found Gaithersburg on Angie's List, they came out, they were much more reasonable in price. They were super professional. They answered all of my questions, we had an intelligent conversation. They came and replaced a part on my A/C unit. I bought a service contract because I was so impressed with them. It is now time to turn the A/C off but my blower keeps running. I have had them back out about two to three other times and it has been at no extra charge. They come across as very experienced. They send out experienced people who know what they are talking about and can communicate. They give me a feeling of confidence. They anticipate what I need to know. They are just nice people.
