After interviewing several companies, we selected DMV based on their ideas, price, and responsiveness. When we met with Stephanie, the designer, we showed her around our house and told her everything we wanted. She came back to us a few days later with computer-generated pictures of what the new bathrooms would look like, and an itemized break-down of what would be provided and what everything would cost. We were really impressed that her proposal contained every detail of what we said we wanted. When we informed Stephanie that we would like to proceed with the project, she and Javier, the project manager, came to our house, and we all walked through every detail together. I raised some concerns that I thought might impact the project (such as HVAC duct-work that I suspected was inconveniently placed), and Javier investigated and gave us some ideas of how the issues could be mitigated. My wife and I were satisfied, and we signed the contract. The following week we met Stephanie at DMV's showroom, and she helped us pick out all the fixtures, tile, etc that would be installed. We weren't sure what we wanted in terms of themes and styles, but she helped us with each part. She also called over a second designer for another opinion in a few cases. DMV started working about 4 weeks after we selected everything, to ensure that everything had been delivered prior to starting work. The workers were there promptly at the agreed start time (8 am) every day for 6 days a week, until the project was completed. During that period there were always at least 2 guys working, and as many as 6. At the end of the day, they cleaned up and blocked off access to the rooms until the floors and walls were installed, so that my kids wouldn't hurt themselves. They were extremely courteous, and always went out of their way to make us comfortable. Something that impressed me was Javier was onsite nearly every day, especially early in the construction, to make sure everything was going as planned. He always explained to me what was going on and asked if I had any questions. Any changes in plan (for instance, the location of a wall had to be moved slightly due to the way the plumbing lined up) he ran by me first to make sure I approved of everything, and it seemed like all of his ideas were just right. The job was done on time, and they did an excellent job. We have no complaints what-so-ever about the finished product, and the process was amazingly smooth. We had been putting off this project for years, because of the expense, but also because of what we feared would be an enormous hassle and inconvenience-- but there really wasn't any of either. Every time someone said they would be here, they were always here, right on time. No one was ever late, or showed up unexpectedly during the entire process. Now that it's done, our bathrooms are even better than what we'd hoped for. The kitchen lighting and other drywall work were a really nice addition as well. Also, the cost was as good as or better than any other estimate that we received.
Description of Work: DMV Kitchen & Bath completely gutted and re-did both of our upstairs bathrooms, including expanding both bathrooms into space previously occupied by part of a bedroom. They also expanded that bedroom by removing the closet and an adjacent linen closet. They also installed recessed lighting in kitchen below the bathrooms and did some drywall work that we needed as a result of unrelated electrical work. The bathroom work included installing new doors, walls, floors, tile, lighting, cabinetry, custom shower, bathtub, 2 vanities, 2 sinks in each bathroom, all new plumbing, new flooring in the adjacent bedroom, painting both bathrooms, the adjacent bedroom and hallway, and moving HVAC duct-work.

My husband and I were looking to replace our kitchen countertops with stone, but did not have a lot of time for "shopping around". We visited three Angie's List members in one afternoon, and DMV Kitchen and Bath was the most responsive and helpful. We found a beautiful granite, quarried locally, and DMV quickly provided an easy-to-understand proposal. Once our GC reset the kitchen cabinets, the granite installers came out and measured on Friday and installed on Saturday and Sunday. There was a bit of confusion on whether we needed to seal the granite or not, and once that was straightened out the installers returned on Tuesday (without complaining!) to seal the counters as the fabricators recommended. All in all we were quite happy with the experience and would recommend DMV Kitchen and Bath to other Angie's List members.
Description of Work: Installed new granite countertops in our kitchen.

DMV Kitchen and Bath provided excellent service during May-June 2014 in terms of material, budget, schedule, and customer care. Please see our prior reviews on DMV for comments on their excellent work. After the work was completed within budget and schedule, they provided excellent customer care for almost an year attending to minor fixes and performing additional plumbing and electrical work at modest costs. Whenever we had some concern and needed fixes on the work they completed or additional work, we sent an e-mail request to Javier and his excellent secretary, Eyelin, and they took care of everything promptly. DMV personnel were all courteous and in particular we were impressed by Javier, our excellent project manager, his secretary Eyelin, and DMV's Orlando who identified and corrected the cause of hot/cold control in our shower/faucet.
Description of Work: DMV Kitchen and Bath remodeled our two bathrooms and kitchen with beautiful granite panels, granite counter tops, and tiles. In addition, provided excellent customer care for almost an year attending to minor fixes. Further, they performed additional plumbing and electrical works at modest costs.

This is the second bathroom we have had DMV remodel. While there was much less work to do in the second bathroom than our master bath, DMV gave us the same attention, responsiveness and quality as our master bathroom. They completed the work quickly and efficiently being very careful every step of the way. As with any project, there are always odds and ends to deal with at the end and Oscar handled every request as though we were his only customers. Extremely happy with their work and work ethic!

For any home projects, the final results can be determined by " 3 Whethers" ( 3 Ws) . They are: (1) whether you satisfy the quality of work, (2) whether the project is finished on time, and (3) whether there is no hidden charge. Satisfaction of above 3 Ws is only worth 3 stars to my point of view because that is your expectation from any contractors and should always be met. DMV certainly received my approval on 3Ws this time. What really differentiates a good contractor from an average contractor is the experience of the whole process. Our kitchen renovation started from reading reviews on Aggies' list and interviewing designers. We finally decided to have Oscar and DMV to do our kitchen project. Oscar is a soft spoken person but very responsive. He responded our calls and text messages. He also provided helpful suggestions to our project. Most importantly, whatever he agreed upfront, he made his words. To my observation, DMV is a very organized family based company. They arrived on time and left with cleanness. I gave them the 4th star for their professionalism. DMV has a one-year labor warranty policy. I waited for 4 months to write this review and to see what would happen after the project was done. It is usually the case that the customers lose the power of control after the contractor has received all the money. Several days ago, I text message to Oscar regarding a little issue and small modifications regarding the range hood duct. He called me back and came to my house to take an onsite measurement. Surprisingly, he also brought touchups to us which we mentioned before but unfortunately forgot. We feel DMV is a reliable source for home projects and will consider them for our other future projects. For its reliability, I give Oscar and DMV the 5th star. Results (3 stars) + Experience (1 star) + Reliability (1 star) = 5 stars.

We asked Javier Nogales with DMV Kitchen and Bath if they could repaint the house while they had time during their remodeling of our kitchen and bathrooms. Javier promptly agreed. They used quality Sherwin-Williams paints and the DMV paint crew did a fantastic and detailed quality repainting of our entire home. DMV actually has several workers whom specialize in household painting and they did a great job of re-caulking, wallpaper removal, sheetrock repair and sanding to produce a uniform appearance on all the repainted walls and ceilings. The workers also had to move a plethora of furniture around as well as properly cover all furniture items to protect them from paint droppings. In addition, they replaced a number of light fixtures which really made the house sparkle. I only had to buy the fixtures myself and DMV provided free labor to install them as an extra incentive.
Description of Work: Completely painted all rooms in our house starting with wall paper removal, sheet rock repair, caulking and sanding and then applying two coats of paint. DMV used quality Sherwin-Williams paint to repaint the entire home. DMV completed the job for the price of $3950. The closest other estimate I obtained was $5950, so DMV's price was $2000 lower than their closest competitor.

After having our kitchen totally redone by DMV we decided to proceed and have Javier Nogales design and then complete the guest master bathroom and now the main master bathroom. The project went well as we had already initiated the work order while they were completing the kitchen. Javier custom ordered our new Kraftmade vanities so that they arrived right on schedule and no time was missed waiting for them. The first order of business was gutting the master bath which only took several hours…. they sure worked fast. Then they applied Hardy Board sub-flooring to the bathroom floor and then began tiling all in the same day. We kept the old soaking tub as Javier suggested could and the workers stripped off the old tile and put in new Italian tile and faucets which made the whole tub look brand new. This saved us a considerable amount of money. The worked rapidly progressed from there with new lights installed, new custom granite and accessories. The frameless glass shower walls now sparkle in the sunshine from the improvements DMV made to my existing skylight. Everything went on schedule and the whole project was completed in about 3 weeks. Javier was very responsive to any of the inevitable glitches that cropped up. Of course I did check with several other recommended contractors and I found that DMV offered the best quality for the best prices. Very satisfied with all phases of the construction process.
Description of Work: Totally rebuilt our large master bathroom to include a new Italian tile floor and walls, new frameless glass shower, new vanity, sink, mirror, lights, sheet rock repair, painting, toilet replacement, storage shelves and an entry powder room replacement.

They started after Thanksgiving. They finished just before Christmas (except for the glass shower door). Every day they put down tarps to protect the floors and carpet and plastic to seal off the bedroom from the small bathroom and each evening they removed said items so that we could sleep in the room at night. They arrived each day in a timely manner and worked practically nonstop (took what seemed to me a very brief lunch break). Most evenings they left around 5:15p.m. but stayed later if the job required it. They were polite and as nonintrusive as it is possible to be under such circumstances. They did work one Saturday in order to get the job finished in a more timely manner. They cleaned up all debris and removed it from the area in a timely manner. There price was very competitive. I was always able to get in touch with someone which at the office ( a live voice and not an answering machine) which I greatly appreciated. Rolando, the representative who was in charge of the job was very responsive to any questions or issues we had. He seemed genuinely interested in our getting a nice bathroom which we could like (he recommended we make the pipes larger so the shower flow would be ample and adding the decorative tile inside the niches). Both these things added a lot to the looks and feel of the bathroom. We are delighted with the end product. I enjoy it every day. My only complaint is that after working with the same two man crew for two weeks and feeling comfortable with them and the level of their workmanship, a second crew showed up without notice. While the second crew turned out fine I would have appreciated a heads up about the change. I would hire this company again without a second thought.

DMV was one of several contractors I requested an estimate from for my kitchen remodel. They weren't the largest or showiest of the three that provided estimates, but there reviews along with my gut instinct led me to my decision to hire them. We started the remodel in early February, and with exception to one small delay (I wouldn't call critical) we finished in the 3 week timeline I was given. The process was fairly seamless. After signing the contract, I set up a time to visit their showroom, picked the materials, wrote a deposit check and we were off. The first day of the remodel, the crew came at 8:00 (if not a bit earlier) and got started. They work like a small army or how I'd envision Santa's elves to work - elves who wrap, elves that track the weather, and elves who pack the sleigh. mailroom elves, food elves, decorating elves ? even singing elves (you get the point).. Each of the crew seemed to have a function. They treated my home with care and the work with precision. As is always the case, there was dust and disruption involved, but the crew made living at home a bearable process. I wish I could call out the names of each of the crew individually, but I'm afraid can't recall them all. Oscar as the project manager, was always accessible and accommodating when I had questions or concerns. Grover was like a quiet storm, never said much, but masterful and delivered in every way.The rest of the crew were great too, and very courteous. I'm so glad I went with my gut. I have a fabulous kitchen with open walls, quartz countertops, beautiful wood floors that match the rest of the wood floors perfectly. Fortunately, I don't have another kitchen to remodel, but if I did, I would hire DMV. Thank you!

We worked with Javier Nogales to custom design our new guest bathroom and powder room that looks spectacular but which was also affordable. DMV just finished the job and the bathroom actually sparkles from the bright Italian tile walls and floor which reflect off each other. Orlando did all of the tile work and he really, really knows what he is doing. Orlando also installed two built in tile nooks on the shower wall and both of them were perfectly canted to facilitate drainage. In addition Orlando used waterproof epoxy grout on all the tile walls and floor which is much more expensive than regular grout. DMV converted the outer unused powder room into a combination powder & linen storage room by removing the sink and an attached but unused elongated counter and in their place DMV installed a very cute make up vanity and since more storage space is always needed Javier came up with the idea of putting in a large built-in Kraftmaid linen cabinet. This cabinet now holds all of the household's sheets, blankets, pillowcases, toiletries towels and is a homeowner's dream storage solution. DMV replaced the entire ceiling of the guest master bath and both rooms were redone with Sherwin Williams quality paint. All of the electrical and plumbing work was first class quality. There were several minor changes which we wanted to have done during the contracting process and Javier was very flexible with making the changes. I do not think I am biased in saying that the completed project is something like one would see in Better Homes and Garden Magazine. The overall project took about 3 weeks to complete and the results were well worth the wait. Based on the excellent quality of work, we have now decided to have DMV proceed and rebuild our personal master bathroom.
Description of Work: DMV completed a total rebuild of the guest master bedroom and powder room. This included gutting the old cabinets, bathtub and toilet, installing new Hardy Board underlayment and then installing an Italian ceramic tile floor and tile walls. In addition they also installed custom Kraftmaid Maple cabinets with custom granite countertops and a new shower, new tub, a new larger ceiling fan and a built in linen storage cabinet. Additional work included repainting all the walls and bathroom hardware. We decided to use DMV to redo our bathroom as they had done such a fine job rebuilding our kitchen. We had previously compared prices with several other top rated Angie's list contractors and DMV had the most competitive price.

From beginning to end I could have not been more pleased with DMV. Rolando came to our home soon after our request for an estimate on the master and kids' bathrooms. He was knowledgeable, straightforward and impressive. We decided to start with the kids' bathroom because it had the most water damage and was leaking into the underlying kitchen with significant dry wall damage on the kitchen ceiling. The estimate was fair and lower than others I received. DMV stayed on budget the whole job with the exceptions of the new additions I requested. DMV promptly scheduled the job and stayed on schedule. Rolando was creative and generally interested in using that creativity to help me maximize my space. We ended up with total makeover by removing the floors everything in the bathroom. We replaced an old small significantly water damaged bathroom with tub, limited linen closet in the bathroom and even smaller linen closet in the adjacent hall into a much more efficient space. We replaced the bathroom closet/pantry within with a beautiful shower. We broke down the small hall closet and wall and replaced it with gorgeous wood cabinet incorporating it into the bathroom. My family could not be happier with our new modern sleek roomier and classy looking bathroom. The tile floors, accent tile, granite countertop, wood vanity and wood cabinetry all flow with hues of browns, yellows, gold, and crisp clean looking white. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. They repaired the dry wall in the kitchen underneath and overall did a COMPLETE job. I cannot say enough about the staff. The planners, Rolando and Javier, were onsite many days to make sure the work was going well and that we were happy with the job. They answered my multitude of questions and response time was always within minutes. The workers were on time courteous and communicative. This is only just the beginning of my relationship with DMV; I plan to have them return to do the master bathroom as well and there is much more work to be done. DMV has my business wrapped up for a job extremely well done.
Description of Work: DMV Kitchen and Bath did a total makeover of my upstairs bathroom which had significant water damage including leaking into and destroying the dry wall ceiling of the kitchen underneath. The house is old and the bathroom relatively small.

This was by far, the best renovation I've ever had. Everything went smoothly. The project manager, Rolando, was friendly and insightful from the moment he gave me my estimate. My design ideas were only improved by the suggestions of Rolando and the artistic vision of Ronald, tiler extraordinaire. On the first day of my scheduled reno, we were hit by an ice storm. I was out early trying to chip the ice so that they could get in safely. Rolando and Oscar, the two project managers showed up first and helped me shovel and chip ice. They went absolutely above and beyond. The project timeline I was given was three weeks, for incidentals. Luckily everything ordered was in stock and everything happened faster than planned. DMV custom built my vanity because the dimensions required were not a standard size. When I chose items that were high end cost, they showed me comparable items that were more reasonably priced. Ronald gave me a custom shower design which he loved so much he said he was going to do the same thing in his home. My bathroom turned out even more beautiful than i imagined. In fact, I want to sleep in there tonight because I can't stop staring at it. I plan to hire DMV Kitchen and Baths for my next reno project.

We initially hired DMV to do a full renovation of a bathroom in our basement. We'd met with several contractors, but felt very comfortable with Oscar and Javier. They were able to find solutions that worked for us and that met our budget. This project involved pulling permits as we were relocating a drain, and DMV handled the processing for us--needless to say, everything was approved without any problems. We liked the work they did so much we brought them back this year to renovate a second bathroom, along with some additional work (replacing interior doors and some drywall work). The crew clearly takes pride in their craftsmanship, and everyone took the extra step to make sure we were satisfied. This even included taking steps we didn't know we needed in the first place! Their experience really showed in how they were able to anticipate what we wanted. Oscar was more than happy to answer our questions throughout the process with both bathrooms. The approximate price quoted above reflects the total for both jobs, which was on par with what some contractors quoted us for renovating only one bathroom. The only minor issue we had was with the timely delivery of some materials (some was due to weather, some to the manufacturer's delivery), but given all the things that could go wrong with a renovation, this was a minor inconvenience, and we were kept informed about the status as much as possible. If you're looking for a contractor who has a keen eye for the details and wants to make sure you're happy, look no further than DMV Kitchen and Bath.

DMV was fantastic to work with and are a very professional company. Oscar came in to give us an estimate and worked with us throughout the whole process, checking on the work regularly. Our kitchen renovation was more basic but we appreciated them paying attention to the details. The crew was punctual every day and made sure to clean up after themselves when they left, extremely considerate. Orlando especially was a very thoughtful employee, so much that we'd like him to again work on other upcoming renovation projects for us. There were minor hiccups as one would expect with any renovation project but Oscar made sure to resolve these to our satisfaction in a very timely manner. We are extremely pleased with the end result and would recommend this company to others. We will definitely consider them for future house projects.

We really can?t say enough about DMV, these guys were fantastic. My husband and I started looking into remodeling our kitchen right when we bought our house. As such, we were working on a very specific budget and had also never done any type of remodeling before. We chose to go with DMV after speaking with at least eight different contractors, several of which we found on Angie?s List. Cemmy came out to our house for the initial estimate. He arrived on time and discussed with us what we had in mind, which including knocking down a wall to combine the current kitchen and dining room into one larger kitchen. He emailed us the design idea and estimate a few days later. At this time we were still getting estimates from several other contractors and trying to feel our way through the entire process, but during that time Cemmy was not pushy at all. He did not repeatedly call us, pressuring us to make a decision like some of the other contractors did. He was so incredibly patient over this time period; promptly responding to every single email and question. In addition to the million emails, we went to the showroom a few times and everyone there was so helpful too. Cemmy and Oscar helped us adjust the design and estimate to fit within our budget and helped us pick out all the materials. In addition, Javier was very knowledgeable and helpful in responding to some of our structural concerns (it?s an old house). Ultimately, it was this patience, willingness and responsiveness that helped us decide that DMV was the best choice and three months after our initial meeting we signed a contract with DMV. Best decision ever. These guys are amazing. Being novices to the entire remodeling experience, we were very nervous about all the things that could go wrong and the horror stories we had heard from other people. Obviously, those people had not chosen to work with DMV because we had a fantastic experience. At the signing of the contract, we had set the date for when the work would start and when it would be completed. Sure enough, on the first day they were there at 8am ready to go. The crew worked 8am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday. Everyone was incredibly polite and they did a fantastic job of cleaning up at the end of every day. The work we needed done was extensive and included gutting the entire kitchen; ripping up the floor and putting down a new subfloor for the new tile floor; moving HVAC vents; installing recessed lights and under-cabinet lights; installing all new cabinets and countertops; installing a tile backsplash; installing our new appliances and getting rid of the ones that we could not donate; and widening the entry way into the kitchen. They worked quickly and took great pride in the quality of their work. Every aspect was done with the utmost care. And on top of that, they even did some additional work for us that had nothing to do with the kitchen. Our bathroom exhaust vent had never worked well and the moisture was causing mold and mildew in our bathroom. We mentioned that to DMV and they said they would fix it without a problem. They put in an exahust vent in the attic and we have not had a problem with moisture since. Their flexibility and willingness to help us, at no cost to us, was so greatly appreciated. Cemmy was in constant contact with us throughout the entire process. There were a couple bumps in the road, as to be expected with any large project. We would text Cemmy with our concerns and he would immediately respond and the issue would be addressed by the next day. They addressed every single concern we had and made sure that we were 100% satisfied with every aspect. They finished on time and everything looks fantastic! We are so happy with the kitchen and the entire experience. It will certainly save us a great deal of time when we can get around to remodeling our bathroom because we already know who to call.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel which included gutting the old kitchen, tearing down a wall, installing new subfloor and tile floor, relocating HVAC, installing new cabinets, installing recessed lights/undercabinet lights/pendant light, installing new countertops, installing new appliances, widening entry way.

Short version: I've never worked with a contractor who is more flexible and willing to please than DMV, highly recommended. I found DMV through Angie's list, gave them a call, and arranged for them to come out to discuss my project. Cemmy arrived on time and we proceeded to go over all aspects of the project. Although clearly someone who is more on the sales side of things he took plentiful notes as well as measurements. He sent a first draft quote in about a week (right in line with what he said he'd do). I indicated that I was interested in moving forward so we scheduled a follow up visit where Cemmy brought Javier over as well to do a more thorough quote. Javier was extremely knowledgable in all aspects of renovation/construction and was able to quickly identify which areas would be tricky and how best to address them. As I had expected the revised quote was higher than the original due to Javier?s better understanding of exactly how much work would be involved and our mutual agreement that pulling all permits for this type of project would be the best option. We then met at their office to sign a contract and pick out various materials. Although the contract covered the big picture work there were still a number of smaller details to be worked out to which we agreed to both be reasonable about. Javier and Cemmy assured me that their main job was our satisfaction and we?d work out any details as they came up. Work started on time and we were introduced to Maynor who would be doing the bulk of day to day work. For the next 6 or so weeks we saw Maynor and friends from 8am to 6pm Monday through Saturday. Communication with Cemmy continued on picking out items and finalizing details, Javier stopped by a few times a week as needed to oversee work. Maynor did a great job doing the work with various specialists dropping by when needed for electricity and major plumbing. In my mind the one thing that separates a good contractor from a great one is how things are handled when issues and changes arise (and issues and changes will always arise). Here are few examples of things that came up along the way and how they were handled: - In picking out fixtures and such after the fact I chose a number of things that I knew clearly where more expensive than DNV could have reasonably had allowances for in their quote. In a some of those cases I even explicitly mentioned that if they needed me to cover the difference to let them know, but in each case they covered it entirely. - During removal of debris they accidentally broke the globe hanging over our stairwell. They contacted me immediately apologizing and asking for exact model number so they could replace it. They purchased replacement and handled installation. - One night a pipe that they had been working on earlier in the day sprung a small leak and was dripping on to the floor below. Javier had given me his cell number in case of any issues so I gave him a call. He answered his phone on the first call and asked if we needed to have someone sent out immediately (was about 8pm on a Saturday night at that point), I told him I had contained the leak and it could wait until morning. He had a team to fix the leak there 8am the next morning (Sunday). They also addressed the minor damage caused by the leak. - When working on the design of our closet to laundry room conversion Javier pointed out that the design as it stood would leave a good bit of space to the sides of the laundry machines hard to access. He suggested moving the double closet doors and installing a new third door next to them. I agreed it made much more sense. Javier went ahead and did it the way he suggested which included a good bit of work to move the door and purchasing a new door all at no additional cost. - In designing our bathroom vanity layout I failed to consider how the mirrors aligned with the cabinets and sinks below. Nothing had been installed yet but everything had been purchased. Cemmy agreed to change the cabinets for models that would allow everything to be better aligned at no additional cost. - During rough-in inspection the inspector wanted an engineering report done on some of the I-beams to verify the support added to them was sufficient. DMV covered the full cost of the engineering report. - When hanging the vanity mirrors it was clear that the dark color on the mirror frames I?d picked out was no where near the color of the wood on the cabinets (last time I ever pick a wood color from an online photo). Cemmy went ahead and returned the mirrors and after doing a considerable amount of research to find something that would fit into the space and match the color without any luck offered to build custom mirrors in exactly the size needed for our configuration. Looked perfect and again done at no additional cost. - The method of laying the small square tiles in our shower floor clearly showed that one of our walls wasn?t straight. In walking through with Javier I jokingly asked if he could do something about my house being crooked. He obviously couldn?t but he wasn?t satisfied with the manner in which the tile was laid, he said it could be done better to minimize the visual appearance of the crooked wall. He then had the team tear up the entire shower floor and redo it from scratch. It added a few days to the project but resulted in a much better looking finish, again at no additional cost. The two things to take away from all the experiences is DMV repeatedly did whatever needed to be done to make sure we were happy and they did it all at no additional cost. We did not have to spend a single penny over our original contracted price even though there were numerous changes done along the way. Overall the way DMV does business with Javier overseeing the job and doing high level design; Cemmy handling contracting, logistics, and ordering; Maynor handling day-to-day execution from demolition through finishing touches; and occasional specialists where needed is pretty much a perfect mix for home renovation work. It provides both consistency and oversight. And the fact that they do it at a reasonable price and then don?t nickel and dime you after the fact just makes it all the better. In the end the real question is if you?d hire someone again and for DMV I just did. Javier, Cemmy, and Maynor just started a new project on my house this week and I?m already thinking up projects for them to work on when this one is done.
Description of Work: Complex full master bathroom renovation. Required complete demo, moving walls and plumbing, and replacing windows. I also had them convert a large closet into a laundry room. This was work that a number of other contractors refused to even give me estimates on. Other "one stop" contractors insisted that I needed to first bring in an architect or engineer to do the design. DMV was able to think outside the box as well as handle all the plans and permits required.

The guy definitely knew what he was talking about, but I also did not feel very comfortable with them. It was just a gut feeling. It felt like he was not necessarily listening to everything that I was saying because definitely in the quote when it came back, there were things in there that I had not asked for or things that I asked for specifically that were not in there. We went back and forth on some stuff. I would say it was probably a typical experience. Some of their ideas for the remodel were good, but they were definitely trying to up-sell me when I was very upfront in saying that this is a condo that we are getting ready to sell or hoping to sell, but we needed to redo stuff in order to sell it. I told them that I did not want high-end products because I told them that it was not needed for a condo like what we live in and they came back with all high-end stuff. They were the highest in the estimated price. They were pretty responsive to my e-mail. He was running late, but he let me know. He was very professional, but I would not use them in the future.
Description of Work: I got a quote from DMV for the kitchen and bathroom remodel. Approximate cost of service of $34,000.00.

DMV is the finest home contracting company I have ever worked with. My wife and I began our kitchen replacement research over a year ago as we are frugal (not cheap) customers. We talked to a number of highly rated contractors including several from Angie's List. Most contractors I would describe as 'good' or 'very good' but DMV was the BEST in our opinion. We called DMV and specifically requested to speak to Javier Nogales, as we saw many positive remarks about him on Angie's List reviews. We were very glad that we did as Javier walked us through the whole process and gave us multiple and easily understood options for each phase of our project. We ended up choosing Kraftmaid Cabinets as DMV has a new retailer discount with them and we chose a Spanish tile floor and new stainless appliance for the kitchen as well as a matching tile entrance way into the foyer and a completely redone entry way powder room. In addition we had our adjacent living room painted too by DMV The contractors showed upon time and all of them were multi-skilled. The initial process included gutting the kitchen and powder room, completion of the plumbing and electrical work and then installing the floor tiles. Next came the cabinet installation, custom installation of the granite countertops by DMV (who also does their own cutting), and then all of the finishing work. Javier was in constant contact with us and extremely attentive to our concerns. There were a few items that came up which were not in our contract which we later wanted as the project was in process and Javier ended up throwing them in for free. I doubt other companies would have done that. There were several other side projects I needed help with including moving an old basement refrigerator out of the house, and DMV's workers gladly helped me with those too. The entire project ran about 3 weeks and DMV actually finished ahead of schedule. My wife and I were very, very pleased with the project and the value of the work that was done. We were so impressed with their work that we are now going to contract with them to totally rebuild the two master baths and connecting powder rooms in our house. Several of my associates are also planning to have DMV do their home projects too based on my experience.
Description of Work: DMV rebuilt my kitchen, entry way and entry foyer powder room. This was a complete project including gutting, plumbing and electrical work, tiling, cabinet, appliance replacement and painting.

The work took longer than originally specified, though this was the fault of another vendor, not DMV. DMV performed the work in a thorough and conscientious manner. The bathroom is exactly what I wanted: the marble tile is lovely and the installation of all fixtures was done promptly and correctly. The apartment looks so much fresher and more modern with the popcorn ceiling removed and repainted, as does the whole apartment with a new coat of paint. A special thanks for the professional services of: Cemmy, Javier, Maynor, Grover, Orlando,Eduardo and Primo.

If you are looking for quality work done in a timely manner by very talented and considerate people, DMV will provide. They worked with us through all the details. They were very accommodating when we said we wanted to do some things (painting and selecting and purchasing our own sink/vanity independently of the contract). They agreed to install what we purchased and provided suppliers and suggestions for us to use when our original vanity supplier back-ordered our purchase.. They showed up on time and worked very long hours six days a week. Their supervisor communicated with us on almost a daily basis. Any phone calls we made were answered almost immediately. The workmen were pleasant and efficient and did everything they could to minimize the dust and disruption. Completely gutting a room is a messy and dirty job and they did everything they could to minimize the mess. They removed all the debris from our garage on a regular basis. The men requested our input on each phase--where the towel bars should be; were we pleased with the lighting etc.; When the glass shower door was delayed because of a miscalculation and the Christmas holiday, they were very apologetic and stayed on top of the issue getting it to us before the original date. As you can see from the above, we are very please with all that was done. We would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Completely gutted a 25-year old master bathroom; moved shower to new location; tiled shower stall; floor; installed molding; installed new lighting; installed double sink vanity (purchased by owner); purchased and installed make-up vanity; new toilet.

Awesome. Happy New Year, DMV! I had to fix my house due to water and tenant damage, and then decided to just fix it and sell it. When my realtor saw it she said, "STUNNING" "better than she'd expected" and "we may be able to go up" in listing price because the work was so well done. DMV were a pleasure to work with (Rolando), picking out items and even substituting items/finishes was quick and easy (they have a showroom that you can identify tiles, etc.). Apparently, they do not use subs, but for my job they used two different teams -- one to do the structural stuff under the floor; the other to do the kitchen/bath remodel. Both teams were great, communicative, responsive, etc. You get the sense that Javier (part owner) has a lot of integrity. We hit a delay due to permits when we opened up the floor and realized more work needed to be done than initially predicted, but I understand that that's life and can't blame a contractor for an unknown/inconvenience. I've already had someone call for a reference wondering if DMV is equipped to do structural stuff AND cosmetic stuff, and I would definitely say YES. I have been a homeowner for 10years, I've dealt with my share of contractors, and I picked DMV out of 6 competitors - a couple of whom quoted astronomical prices that raised eyebrows. DMV met high standards, exceeded expectations, and were respectful of my finances at every step of the way, including when we needed to do a change order. So, thank you Rolando, Javier - appreciate the chance to work with you and will look forward to calling you FIRST in the future.

I found DMV on Angie's List, read the reviews, and decided to try this service. I had also contacted another contractor(actually 3 total), to compare prices and products. After having met with all three(3), I decided to go back and speak to each again at their shops/showrooms. My first stop was at DMV. Oscar Perdomo immediately made time for me, even though I had no appointment. I asked many questions, and he was able to offer several options to address the work that needed to be done. I asked him to also review an estimate from one of his competitors, and in a kind way, showed me the flaws in the estimate, and where those areas were addressed in his own. Bottom line, for the work that was needed, I was getting "more bang for the buck" from DMV. I cancelled my next 2 appointments. A start date was made, and everything was smooth sailing from the beginning. His crew was polite, incredibly neat, and very conscientious of making the changes exactly as I wanted. It was amazing the amount of work they could do in one day. ALL walls, crevices, doors, etc were totally covered in plastic to reduce dust. At the end of each day, you hardly knew they had been there. Oscar checked in regularly, and of course there were a few things that needed to be changed/adjusted during the course of the job. Each time, I could tell that ALL he was interested in was my satisfaction with the finished product. A shower unit needed an upgrade.....no problem. A mirror wasn't quite the style I wanted. He had his men remove it and replace it the next day. The tile work was amazing. The guys that did the granite countertops were real pros, also. Two countertops cut and installed in probably 2 hours. Now, three months post job, Oscar is still checking in to make sure everything is still to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend this company, and will hopefully have them remodeling my kitchen in the spring.

We were extremely pleased working with DMV. They helped in choosing the design of the new bathrooms and were responsive to all questions and concerns. Their crews worked diligently and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. They work Saturdays and complete the job in a timely manner. They do not try to add-on extra costs. They discovered a pipe that was leaking a bit and repaired it, without charging extra or stopping to ask us--they identified a problem and fixed it, which was fabulous. They responded very quickly to emails. They had the wrong color vanity and mirror delivered and they immediately ordered the correct one. Their tile guy is so good that we now want the tile floor extended into the front hallway. They care about the quality of the work that they do and use quality materials throughout. We couldn't be more pleased and will definitely use them again.

DMV is a great company to work with. Everyone from management down to all workers were very focused and committed to doing everything right and to the customer's satisfaction. Everyone seemed to know exactly what they were doing. Be sure you know exactly what you want because once the project starts they hit the floor running. The project teams are run like a well oiled machine. Work progressed very quickly, but on the flip side there wasn't a lot of time for designing on the go. Kudos to project leader Rolando. He was very responsive and listened well to my preferences. I am already planning another project with DMV.
