I couldn't be happier with the service provided by DMV kitchen. They were reasonably-priced, reliable, skilled, and pleasant to work with. They helped with the design and were very patient while I explored different options. They listened to me while offering lots of great ideas and the kitchen reflects that - it is exactly what I wanted and I enjoy being in it every single day. I would recommend DMV to anyone considering a kitchen or bath remodel. I found DMV through Angie's List and now that I've worked with them, I understand what all the rave reviews are about. Yes, they are that good.
Description of Work: DMV completely gutted and rebuilt my kitchen, including opening up a wall, adding new wood floors, new cabinets, countertops, etc. They helped with the design and material selection as well.

Working with DMV was a pleasure, and by far the smoothest part of our renovation project. From initial bidding (with Pelin and Alan), to the consultations and negotiation phase with owner Javier, to the on-site job led by Orlando, the entire DMV team is exceptionally responsive and willing to go above-and-beyond, with fast turn-arounds and quality work. Issues were resolved with no hassle, and even when factors outside their control caused project delays -- e.g. problems with our designer or delays/flaws in materials ordered by others -- they were always friendly, courteous, and able to let us know the impact. I was particularly impressed with how they were able to (without batting an eyelash) match existing design components and materials we were not replacing, such as our wood flooring, which saved us a considerable amount of money on our project. Plus, they came in several thousand dollars below the next-closest bidder. Our remodel was extensive, DMV deserves the most credit for making it minimally disruptive and looking great.
Description of Work: DMV did extensive renovations for us that included gutting two bathrooms, a complete kitchen re-do, and remodel of our loft/stairs. In the bathrooms, this included all tilework, installations of custom cabinetry, fixtures, and shower. In the kitchen, it included installation of extensive custom cabinetry, etc. (while preserving existing appliances and much of the hardwood flooring). In the loft, it included redesign of stairwell, wood stain matching, putting in drywall, removal of a closet, and built-in cabinetry. They also replaced our fireplace mantel. DMV also installed a chandelier and repositioned lighting, which included some complicated LED work illuminating bookshelves.

If Angie's List had an A+ rating, we would give it to the folks at DMV Kitchen and Baths. We've remodeled kitchens before, and working with DMV was BY FAR the best experience we could hope for. We interviewed a number of contractors. There are a lot of sharks out there. But we were immediately impressed by Javier Nogales at DMV. He and his team are real professionals in every sense of the word: trust-worthy, pleasant, respectful, taking great pride in their work and going the extra mile (without our asking for it). Each and every one of the crew members kept our interests at heart. When going through a punch list, they met our every expectation-- and graciously. Hassle-free. Attitude-free. The work was done on time and on budget. Javier never flinched to take our calls or answer our texts, promptly and professionally. We loved working with these guys. The final product is AWESOME. Do not hesitate to give them a try.
Description of Work: DMV completely gutted the kitchen, removed walls, created large exterior window, moved gas and water lines, reconfigured Heating/Air conditioning vents, rerouted dryer exhaust line, installed all new electric (plus master electrical panel), installed new Travertine tile flooring, new cabinets, appliances, counter tops, lighting, paint, plaster, etc.

Javier and the team at DMV did a great job on our kitchen remodel and powder room installation. While there were some issues that arose during the project, Javier and his team quickly resolved those issues. The team was always friendly and professional. We are VERY happy with the final work.

From the start, DMV was considerate and easy to work with. We chose only Angie's List contractors with A ratings, but only DMV had taken the time to read the "wish list" that we had provided. Also, they were the only contractor that included visuals in their proposal -- one to help us visualize exactly what we asked for, plus another "aspirational" version that incorporated some comments I had about what I would love do if I was unconstrained. I appreciated that. We then worked with DMV to tailor the bid to exactly what we needed (and could afford). They were cheerful and cooperative throughout this process. When the construction began, the team communicated with us every day. The guys doing the work were a pleasure to have around. We hit some "old house" snags, and they were very flexible and had creative ideas to resolve the issues. For instance, when it became apparent that the original window frame (which had been buried) was an unusual shape, the crew suggested framing it with an interesting arrangement of tile, cut from the bullnose used for the walls, to accentuate its uniqueness. Also, when the special-sized sink that I ordered (not from the DMV showroom) arrived it was chipped, and the team patiently assessed several replacement sinks that I proposed until we found one that was just right. Throughout the process, from our initial meeting through the finishing touches, our designer and project manager Alan was wonderful. He kept everything moving and made us feel good about our decision to go with DMV.
Description of Work: Remodeled a full bathroom in our 1940s house. Gutted to the studs, bumped it out slightly and reconfigured the doorway for better flow. Added ventilation and recessed lighting. Installed tile, tub, fixtures, etc. in a style appropriate to our house.

We contracted with DMV to do a complete overhaul of our master bedroom and closet. DMV was responsive to our request for a quote and provided the estimate within about a week. We received quotes from 4 contractors, DMV being middle of the road in terms of cost. After comparing prices, reviews and the tile/cabinet options, we decided to go with DMV. We also liked their flexibility during the bid process since we didn't know exactly what to expect under the tile and in the walls. We hadn't decided completely on a design but Stephanie helped us at the showroom. Work started quickly and we were assigned one team of workers to do the work. Other than a few instances, the same two men did all of the work. And the work was quality. Everyday we spoke with the team and gave them feedback on location of items and other small details. The team worked Monday through Saturday. Showed up by 8am each day and were willing to stay until they completed whatever they were working on that day (I'm sure they would have left earlier if we requested but we were eager to get the job done). They even showed up on bad weather days (including a snowstorm in which the foreman had to send them home). The team was willing to please. My wife had a miscommunication with what direction she wanted the tile installed in the floor. After laying 75% of it, they pulled it all up and reinstalled it. The rework took a full day to complete but we were not charged extra for the hours. The crew was friendly and respectful of our home. If you want a contractor that you speak to once, and come back with a perfect finished job, you may want to look elsewher (but you will also pay through the roof). In fact. we had some estimates that were $20,000 more than DMV, but we couldn't afford that. Rather, we knew how we wanted the rooms to look and we were very hands on. DMV had no problem with that, and they kept down the overall costs down. We also appreciated that they came in right on budget -- to the nickel. Other than a few minor items on our punch list that took some time to resolve (disclored faucet and dripping facuet), we had a great experience with DMV. I feel very comfortable recommending them to others who want a very good job done at a reasonable price. We are actually in discussions with them about another bathroom remodel. Great company and great people.

Listened to what we wanted and were happy to make suggestions, Listening is the key part. Workers are professional and courteous. This is THE company to use! Could not be happier. If any friends were doing this type of rennovation we would recommend DMV with out hesitation.

We were very pleased with our interaction with DMV Kitchen through its main team members: Javier, Rolando, Grover and Morris. On our first meeting at the project site, Rolando spent 1-1/2 hours to 2 hours to understand what we need done and gave an initial look (like tapping walls, measuring spaces) to assess what the job requires. After about two weeks, Rolando came back with a detailed estimate, taking into account the points we talked about during our first meeting. In order to make DMV's estimate more accurate, Rolando invited us to their showroom and asked us to pick what exact materials (cabinets, countertops, fixtures) we would like installed in the house. One would think that this is such a process for a first step in renovation, but all worth it because both parties are clear with what we, the clients, want to achieve, plus there are no surprises in price! Given our tight deadline, DMV sent multiple workers on a daily basis, making sure that they keep with the timetable. Like any renovation, there are some portions of the project where timing is beyond contractor's control (dependent on material supplier's timing). When we had a delay with the arrival of cabinets, DMV concentrated on another area of the project. Rolando was our main contact from DMV and he was very responsive. If he is in a meeting, an office representative would send an email to let us know that he will get back to us as soon as he can. Rolando immediately relayed our requests to Grover, who was the point person at the project site, and Grover assembled his team to implement. Javier visited the project regularly to make sure permitting requirements and project timetable are met. The DMV crew members were also professional and courteous. They were mindful to keep the premises as clean as they could after a day's work. It was evident that the team takes pride in their work. We are meticulous like some other clients, but we are happy with what they did with our house. Although this happened rarely, when there was a part of the job that we like improved, they were happy to do it. We recommend this team and we will hire them again for a future job.
Description of Work: DMV opened up walls to achieve an open concept look in our main living areas. They also remodeled our kitchen and transformed basement rooms into a master suite with brand new 5-piece bathroom and walk-in closet.

From the very beginning when we first entered the showroom just looking at designs and stuff and to get some of my questions answered, Javier was willing and able to guide me (since I was doing some of the framing and drywall myself). When we were ready for them to come give me an estimate, Javier and Alan came to the house and were very thorough in the measuring and design of the area. They were able to answer all my questions and give knowledgeable suggestions on improving things that we had not thought about having in our shower. I received the estimate by email within a couple days. Alan and I went back and forth on a couple of things I wanted added or removed (things I did myself) from the estimate, and he was very responsive and once we got it all figured out we went to the showroom to pick our tiles and sign the contract. They were very open and knowledgeable in helping my wife choose the tiles. We had already chosen the fixtures and valves that we wanted to use and they were very happy to make them fit in to the design. After we signed the contract they accommodated our requested start date which was about 3 weeks away. The first day, Alan, Javier, the workers and I all met to go over and confirm everything before they started. Once they got to work the workers were very polite and treated our house like their own. They spread plastic everywhere, every day, to protect the floor and areas from any damage or dust. They spent the next 2 days doing all the plumbing for the shower and toilet. They then framed the bench, 5 niches, and went to work hanging the cement board which was then covered with Kerdi liner which I really loved!!!! I asked for a couple minor things to be changed and they were very willing to stop and go get the needed parts and make sure it was done to my satisfaction. After everything dried they started on the tile, which they suggested doing diagonally and the guys spent a lot of time making sure everything lined up perfectly. I think they spent 3 days doing the tile work. We had some miscommunication on the door; I thought they were using a sliding door, but they had planned on using a swing door but were happy to accommodate my pickyness and order the door we wanted. It was delivered with a part broken and they were immediately on the phone trying to get the part replaced. When it came in they were back out to finish the door. After all was said and done they sealed everything. It looks OUTSTANDING! We have shown it to all of our friends and everyone loves it. I have since called them back to do other work in our house (mainly taping and mudding drywall so far) and I can't say enough about how nice they were to work with and how great of a job they did, even after all of my crazy requests!
Description of Work: Ran all new plumbing for bathroom and Installed tile shower with bench, five niches, adjustable height shower head and four body sprays. Also had them tape and mud all the newly installed drywall (that I hung) in Master bedroom, bathroom, walk in closet, hall, and dining room.

Cemmy was very professional and honest about what renovations to my bathroom and kitchen would cost. Came a second time to my home to look at revisions to the original estimates. Was patient and creative with what we could do within my budget. In the end, will postpone both renovations for now, but will not hesitate to use DMV Kitchen and Bath in the future.

Overall, we were pleased with the work. Javier and his team were very flexible and allowed us to make changes on the fly. For example, we selected a countertop, then later realized it wouldn't match the floor and backsplash scheme we wanted. Even after selecting the slab we were able to go back and order a man-made quartz instead that had a lighter color but wouldn't break like marble. We were also unaware at the start of the job that we had a violation with DCRA since we had never been provided a notice and DCRA had never contacted us. Javier avoided a several day delay at the start of the project by making clear that it must have been an error on DCRA's part and that we had never committed a violation. Javier's team was also committed to quality work and keeping the customer happy. Several items that we had not specified in the contract (because, after all, it'd be a novel if you took the time to spell out everything) were done to a lower standard than we were expecting. For example, we paid to replace three windows. The team replaced them and replaced brickwork that needed to be removed but did not leave any flashing to protect the base. We asked for flashing and they added it at no charge. Another example - the crew had to cut into the floor to remove a load bearing wall. In the process they cut more than would be replaced by the cabinet going in the same space. They replaced that flooring with matching wood free of charge. For the full project they didn't seek to up-sell us along the way but were faithful to the estimate they'd provided. Lastly, I'd mention they stand by their work with a warranty. They replaced two doors, and with some of the swelling and flexing that occurred going from winter to summer, the doors began to stick. I mentioned this to DMV and they sent the crew out promptly to fix it, again, free of charge. The one critique I have is that the work crew didn't always make the best decisions. For example, during the demo, we walled off the kitchen to prevent dust from spreading (an inevitability with old plaster houses). The crew chose to take a work break by sitting down at our dining table in their work clothes. Can't begrudge a crew taking a break but tracking dirt, dust and sweat into a clean area of the house is always bad. Another example was the crew tried to break up our lead radiator by propping it up against the exterior wall of the house and hitting it with a sledge hammer. Needless to say, the wall started to lose that battle. To their credit, DMV apologized for both events and repaired the cracks in the wall free of charge. Overall, this is a contractor that performs quality work with integrity for a reasonable price. And as anyone who's ever done a home project knows, that's hard to find. I would recommend them.

We had a wonderful experience with DMV. Javier, Oscar, and Evan were always a pleasure to deal with. Very knowledgeable and interested in helping us achieve the kitchen of our dreams. Our kitchen is amazing and we have been enjoying it every day! Friends and family have fallen in love with the kitchen as well. Interestingly, when I have had other work done at the house, i.e plumber, furniture people, handyman, they all want to know who did such fabulous work for us. We had some interesting requests during our remodel, and Javier never got bothered or stressed, he took on all challenges with a good sense of ease. Our range is on our island so in order to increase the space of the island when not cooking we asked if they could build a custom trey-type cover in the same wood as our cabinets. This to cover the range so we can put food and drinks out and use the entire space if having a party. They did this for us and it looks great. We get compliments on that all the time as well. All of the workers were always polite, friendly and punctual. Every day it was a huge mess whilst construction was going on, but every night they cleaned everything up off the floor and kept the area very tidy. This was wonderful as we have two young children that like to run around barefoot despite being warned of possible debris on the floor. We would highly recommend DMV for a remodeling project, don't hesitate giving them a call they will give you a competitive price and a beautiful remodel!

This was my third project with DMV and it was another great one. Everything went smoothly, on time and on budget. I dealt with what has become my standard trio of DMV folks: Cemmy for quoting, coordination, materials, design, and such. Javier for overall project management and engineering. Maynor handling the day-to-day work. The tricky part of this project was routing a 3 inch drain line from the bathroom on the second floor to the basement main drain without destroying the rest of the house. Javier spent some time looking at all the various options for the route and ended up coming up with a creative solution that only required two small holes in other walls. Cemmy did his usual great job going back and forth with me narrowing down the exact quote I was looking for as well as handling design, sourcing all materials, and scheduling. Maynor and company did the same wonderful work that they've done on our other jobs working 8am - 6pm, six days a week until the work was done. The quality of the work was great. There was only one small hick-up along the way when a city inspector didn't like some of the work the original builder had done. Javier handled the issue and didn't charge anything additional for having to do the extra work. After a handful of projects with DMV I can't recommend them enough. Great quality work at a reasonable price with fabulous customer service. It's so nice to work with a team of people that take pride in their work and aren't looking to nickel and dime you.

We had an excellent experience with DMV. From the estimate and design phase, they were courteous and responsive. Construction proceeded according to a work plan, and it was on budget. They worked with us to purchase materials. They worked hard (8am-6pm six days a week), which resulted in the project done basically within two weeks. The only hiccup was the ordering of a medicine cabinet - they forgot to do it, and when it arrived, it didn't have the mounting kit, so we had to wait two extra weeks after the bathroom was finished to install. But other than that, it was a pleasure working with them. Even when there was an unforeseen electrical issue, they handled it right away and made sure we knew what the problem was, plus options for solutions. They responded day and night to emails, texts, and phone calls. The project manager was on top of everything. We absolutely would use them again.

We had a great experience with DMV. They worked hard six days a week, and they got the job done on time. The only problem was that they forgot to order a part, but they followed up quickly and it eventually arrived (we could still use the bathroom while we were waiting). I felt very comfortable emailing or texting our designer or project manager and getting a quick response - DMV's customer service is really remarkable. They were patient with our questions, and if we had small corrections, they made them quickly. I recommend DMV very highly.

DMV was a pleasure to work with during our basement bathroom renovation. We expanded a power room into a full bathroom by adding a shower stall. From the design phase to the end of construction, they were courteous, professional, and attentive to small details. They were punctual every day, and they cleaned up after the day's construction EVERY night, which meant a lot to our family. When an unforeseen issue arose about the exhaust fan venting, not only did they propose reasonable solutions, they did not charge extra for the additional work - it was simply part of what they did. They worked with us to order materials, and they were responsive to all of our questions. The workers on the job were true professionals, and we felt very comfortable having them in our home. I would recommend DMV highly.

Very reasonable price- We contacted four ?Class A BLD? contractors, with who the structural engineer had worked with. Only one offer was much higher; DMV Kitchen & Bath?s quote was reasonable and clustered with the other two. Never treat customers as a caped one- In my case, Javier Nogales (project manager) had legitimate reason to raise the price, since the structure engineer changed design to accommodate county?s comments. But he did not! According to him, that is the way they do business - no price changes even if they find additional problems during construction which is not noticed before. On schedule and on time? Due to the design change, they could not start on the time as we first discussed. Javier called me ahead of time, and let me the change. As soon as the structure engineer finish the new design, he applied for permit and we had a new schedule. The work was done on time. Javier told me, they had worked very hard to stick to schedules for all projects. Javier is very experienced, patient and sincere. No finger pointing, no blaming games, but only worked with us to find the best possible solution, with great positive attitude all the time. Great project manager! We will definitely hire them again. In fact, we are working on our second project together, and will keep you posted about our experience.

This is the second major project for which we've hired DMV. Just as with the first we were extraordinarily happy with the process and the result. As with my first job I worked mainly with the trio of Cemmy, Javier, and Maynor. Cemmy, who handles all the administrative details, really was a big help on this one. As we were trying to decide exactly what we wanted to do he worked with us closely sending over many different revisions of the quotes; scoping things in then out, sending us renderings of what the wet bar would look like, helping work the permits through, he even sourced the exact under-the-counter fridge we picked out for us saving some extra cash. Javier did a great job of dropping in when needed to over see the work and directing the overall plan. Day to day it was Maynor and friends doing the bulk of the work. He does great work and is really easy to work with. I'm continually impressed with the breadth of with abilities. He's able to handle the bulk of the job from demolition, to framing, to rough-in, through finishing himself. It creates great continuity for the job and it's much easier having the same people to work with day in and day out. The main area where they bring in others to assist were with the installation of the electric and hanging drywall (although that was more efficiency related than skill-set). We ran into one hick-up in that all my upstairs low voltage wire happen to run through one of the walls we took out. Although we hadn't provisioned it in the contract DMV worked with us to come up with a solution and ended up running a 3 inch conduit from the basement to the attic so I could easily rerun the wires, all at no additional cost. As with my first project with them, the quality of work was great and I ended up paying exactly the quoted amount with no extra charges or surprises along the way. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: Relay out of upstairs area to create open loft. Consisted of removing a number of walls, removing a full bathroom, removing a walk-in closet, rerouting gas line to attic furnace, installing 10 foot long wet bar, moving a few doorways, and extending our stair railing.

My wife and I ended up using DMV Kitchen and Bath after multiple consultation meetings with other contractors. DMV had a very competitive price and proved to be the most flexible with what we wanted done. Their staff were very professional and did a great job contacting us with any questions. The job was completed on time and on budget. We would definitely use DMV again, highly recommend. Our kitchen looks absolutely amazing!!

This is an excellent bathroom remodeling company. The price was fair. They listened to what we wanted and did the remodels of the 4 bathrooms exactly to our specifications. The materials and fixtures were of high quality. The work was performed in a timely manner. They followed up after the work was done and came back to do the final touches. The workers were professional in every way. The project supervisor (Alan) worked closely with us and was great. I would definitely use DMV again.

Went great! This is the 4th project I've worked with DMV on. I primarily interacted with Cemmy who's handled quoting of all my projects. He did a fabulous job of being really flexible as I honed in on what I wanted to do. They originally quoted doing everything, but I later decided I wanted to source the wood from elsewhere and shop around the installation job. Cemmy worked with me both on defining the job as I wanted various things scoped in and out as well as getting the pricing to where I needed it to be. He also was a big help in coordinating the installation work around the delivery of the wood I'd ordered separately so I wasn't stuck with 2 tons of wood sitting in my dining room for more than a couple days. As to the installation itself, very well done and super quick. They sent in their flooring team of 4 or 5 guys and did everything (about 1600 sq ft) in less than 2 days. Completely took care of moving furniture out of the way and putting everything back. It was a little unsettling coming home from work to a new floor with everything else being just how it was when I left in the morning :)
Description of Work: Installed pre-finished hardwood flooring on two levels including demolition of old floor (mix of hardwood, tile, and carpet), baseboards, shoe moulding, and thresholds.

DMV did a wonderful job renovating our 50 years-old bathroom. I'm 120% satisfied with their job and customer service. Not only did they do a perfect job with details, but the price was also very reasonable considering their quality, and competitive towards a few other companies I got estimates from. Even the general contractor, who required me to go to find and order materials on my own, gave me a higher estimate. DMV has their own designer, plumber and electrician, so everything went smoothly from the start to finish without wasting time. In fact, the project finished a few days earlier than expected. It really saved my time and energy. I needed to go to their showroom only once to choose the materials. After that, they came to my house to consult, design and signing the contract. My special thanks goes to Cemmy, the designer, who also gave me the estimate right on the next day after coming to measure. I really appreciated his good manner and courtesy, as well as his professional taste and knowledge. He is a friendly hard-working young man and I first had a little doubt he may be inexperienced, but I found that he was much better than some who have long years of experiences, because he valued my opinion and was not pushy at all and willing to learn. Still, he is skillful and professional to know what works best for our bathroom, so I'm glad I respected his opinions after all. Cemmy always called and emailed me back promptly during the whole time, even during his off-working hours and weekends. He has been very patient with my slow decision-making. For example, when I just couldn't decide on the paint color, he helped me with email back and forth at night. He was unavailable to come only once, but he sent me the project manager right away instead. Oscar, the project manager, was very responsible, reliable and knowledgeable as well. Not only they came to our house at the beginnings and the end of the project, but also a few times to see how it was going. The workers were all well-trained. They always came to our house on time respectfully and pleasantly. They worked hard with a good attitude, which made me feel comfortable and uplifted despite the inconvenience of the renovation. They also did more than we asked, like installing another light fixture in the tub area, painting inside the closet, updating the door knob and so on. When they didn't find the framed mirror I asked, they custom made it for me and didn't charge for those extra works and materials! It truly was a great experience for us. Thank you, DMV, for the beautiful job and your pride on your job.

The contractor was super-helpful, and spent several minutes explaining what my options were and discussing where I could go for next steps. Clearly a sign of good customer service, even if this wasn't the right fit at this time.

The bathroom is gorgeous. We couldn't be happier. The workmen were excellent, highly skilled and knowledgeable. I was worried when I hired them that I wouldn't get enough design advice since I was new at remodeling. But Javier, the supervisor, and each of the workers I dealt with knew how to answer my design questions. They had so much experience with previous remodels that they could tell me how most customers were handling similar design issues. I felt confident that the design for our shower that I had suggested would actually work only because I was in such competent hands. Javier was always aware of what was being done in the house. He answered my emails promptly as well as those of his workers. I felt everyone went the extra mile to complete the job to our liking. When I asked for a more expensive granite than he showed us, he said he could get it for us. He said he would put up the mirrors we purchased even though they weren't part of the contract. We had some minor damage to the ceiling below the bathroom because of the work, and Javier had no problem doing some spackling and touch up painting. The ceiling looks good as new. I also liked that the contract didn't just provide one price for the entire job as did all the other companies we saw, but gave us a total price that the contract would allow for each item we needed. There was just more transparency in pricing than their competitors. Finally, they put up plastic sheeting to protect our bedroom furnishings from construction dust. They cleaned up all debris. You can't go wrong with this terrific company.
Description of Work: DMV gutted our master bathroom. They replaced the floor tile, put in a new vanity with granite counter tops, and new faucets. They tore up the large jacuzzi we had and replaced it with a large tiled shower. They added shelves in place of the very small shower we had. They installed a new toilet also.
