This was an AL 10 Point Safety Inspection. We found 1 minor issue (a bath outlet was not GFI protected) and offered to correct it for $45, but the subscriber declined. We are always puzzled why people pay $89 for an inspection and then decline inexpensive repairs to correct safety issues.

Description of Work: The technician performed the electrical inspection as advertised, checking all breakers, smoke detectors, and some random electrical outlets throughout the house. When we asked him about a whole-house surge protector, he had one available on the truck, and installed it during the same visit, at a comparable cost to other companies. We have had many storms with power interruptions since then, but are relieved that all our appliances, computers, etc. are now protected. Thank you!

Description of Work: An inspector came out and checked all our wiring and panel box. He found an outside wire that fed electricity into the meter box frayed and leaking water into the panel in the basement. They gave me an estimate and gave we set up a date to do the work. They came in when they were scheduled to be here and did the following: put in the new panel; set up the cable and box for the meter on the outside for the county inspection; put in a 4 sprocket outlet for the kitchen; and put in an outdoor outlet on the side of the house.

Thanks for the great review. The 10 Point Safety Check revealed that the electrical service for the house was in need of replacement. We replaced the circuit breaker panel, breakers, exterior cable, electrical meter and brought the grounding system up to current code. We obtained a permit and coordinated the inspection and the work with the utility company. We manage the entire project and back our work with a "bumper-to-bumper" lifetime warranty. Since this was an AL client we installed a Whole House Lightning and Surge Arrestor at no additional cost !

Description of Work: Whole house electrical safety inspection - Angie's List special for $89. It was easy making an appointment. The technician showed up promptly and did the work as promised. He was able to show us some things that we thought were broken but just needed to be reset, so we didn't have to pay anything extra. We will use them again.

The projects included upgrading the electrical service which involves replacing the circuit breaker panel and all circuit breakers, installing a grounding system that meets current electrical codes, and coordinating with the utility company and the local jurisdiction that will inspect the project. The entire project is backed with a lifetime warranty (we are the only firm in the region that offers this security) and for our AL clients, we install a Whole House Lightning and Surge Arrestor on the new panel at no additional charge.

This was an AL Big Deal for a 10 Point Safety Check. We performed the inspection on 12/12/13 and found a number of safety concerns related to the home's Electrical Service (circuit breaker panel, grounding and the exterior cable). Because of the nature of the issues we recommended that the issues be corrected as soon as possible. The subscriber did not want an estimate and chose not to have the issues corrected. This is not an isolated situation and we find it fascinating. Subscribers pay us $89 to identify electrical safety issues in their home, and although most repairs are simple and inexpensive, they rarely have us correct the situations. We are always left with question "Why pay us to find problems and then ignore them?"

Description of Work: This was for the four fixture recessed lighting package. We paid a premium for shiny brass trim to match two existing fixtures. The installed claimed shiny brass was not available and installed satin/antique fixtures. Bottom line is we paid a premium for mismatched fixtures that will have to be fixed. The company could/should have told us about non availability of shiny brass earlier so that we could use white trim, for example, but didn't bother. Bottom line is that we will not recommend the service provider and will not use him again

This was also an AL Big deal from several years ago (10/4/11). The subscriber requested that the standard white trims be upgraded to brass. The difference in cost was $12.50 each which they agreed to pay. We installed four Polished Brass Trims as requested. The part number for the trim is P8072-10 made by Progress Lighting. The -10 indicates polished brass. That being said, if a customer is not 100% happy we will do anything we can to resolve the situation. At no time during or after the installation (until now 2 1/2 years later) has the customer indicated to us that there was a problem. Our policy is very simple. We will do anything we can to ensure 100% customer satisfaction, but we cannot read minds. If there is ANY issue, we need to know about it and we will resolve it. Period. We provide a Survey Card and a follow-up email with EVERY job. They are specifically intended to ensure 100% satisfaction. The point is, if we do not know about a problem, we cannot fix it. We offer a LIFETIME warranty on our work. Even though this was 2 1/2 years ago, we will contact the subscriber and see if there is anything we can do to resolve this issue.

This was an AL Big Deal for a 10 Point Safety Inspection. The inspection revealed that the house had an FPE Circuit breaker panel which is a know fire hazard. Additionally, none of the outlets in the house are grounded (2 prong) and there are no Smoke Detectors. We identified these issues and several others and provided an estimate to correct these safety issues, but the subscriber declined. Again, we are fascinated why people hire us to identify safety problems in their homes and then choose to ignore them.

This was an AL Big Deal to install 4 recessed fixtures for $399. The work was performed 9/8/11 and in our follow-up call after the job, we were told everything was fine. We suspect due to the delay in positing a review this is another case that some subscribers just don't want to post a review (which we understand) but AL nags subscribers endlessly and the frustration of being nagged is misdirected at the service provider. This is a policy that needs to be changed by AL
