Carl ( I think that was his name) arrived within 15 minutes of his phone call. He was knowledgeable and efficient. he was in and out in approximately 25 minutes.

Certified Electric provided amazing customer service. The phone was always answered immediately when I called and a postcard was sent to my home to remind me of my scheduled service date. Alan was incredibly helpful and accommodating. I have more projects that need to be finished around the house and have already set up another appointment. I would highly recommend this company.

Rob did a great job for both appointments. I felt very comfortable with him.

I think the job was more difficult than the electrician anticipated because of the instability of the outlet box, and I got the impression he was under time pressure towards the end, but the job was done to my satisfaction.

It was probably one of the better expereinces we've had with such service providers. They were on time, in fact called to see if they could come earlier which worked well for us. They completed the assessment within a reasonable amount of time. They made two suggestions for upgrades so that we can come into code regulations, one they said should be done by our alarm company and the other they did fairly quickly. We were impressed with their excellent customer service and quality of their work.

I received a prompt appointment and the technician arrived as scheduled. He did the complete inspection and was very interested in answering questions. He explained each task thoroughly. The estimates for replacing light fixtures was 1/3 the amount that I have paid to other companies. I plan on using them when I purchse the replacement fixtures.

This sort of inspection was very useful for someone with an older house (50-60 years) undergoing improvements, as much for the recommendations as for the assurance that the electrical system is basically alright. I chose Certified Electrical Technologies from Angie's list because it had high ratings and was in my area. The technician, Bob Malatz, was very professional, pleasant, and helpful. I will definitely call on this company in the future.

They were very punctual, did the work well, no drama! They actually installed a second protector for the same price as the first. I would use them again!

After I contacted Certified Electrical by email saying I would like to get an estimate, they first they asked me for a list of the work to be done, which I provided verbatim from another firm's written estimate for accurate comparison. Then they emailed me back asking me to go measure things, take pictures and email them, etc. They seemed taken aback when I asked for someone to just come out, look at the job, and provide the estimate. Finally, they were only able to narrow down the time for a site visit to a 4-hour window rather than a specific time, so I gave up trying to deal with them. They didn't seem to want my business. After reading the provider's response to my original post, I find it rather bizarre. Since this was a big expense for me (if not necessarily a big job for the provider), I was requesting estimates from multiple contractors. Certified Electrical was the second one that I contacted. I hadn't pre-determined which company I would use. I believe that asking for estimates from multiple contractors in order to compare pricing on a job is pretty standard, not "audacious" as the provider says.

The electrician was punctual on both visits to my home. His initial visit was for the safety inspection the company was promoting . He patiently explained what tests he was performing, and wrote out his suggestions for future work. He suggested a surge arrestor be installed in the electrical box for protection, and since he had one in the truck I had him install it that day. I would hire them again for future electrical work. I thought the technician said that the office would contact me once his recommendations were sent in, but maybe I misunderstood him. I eventually called and scheduled the follow-up appointment to complete the work . I will call them back and request the same technician for future projects.

Gary was very professional on the phone and via email, discussing details and scheduling the appointment. I took a picture of my circuit box and emailed it to him so they would be prepared for the appointment. Alan arrived on time and quickly performed the work. Then he explained what he did, how the surge protector works, and what to look for to perform a quick check after a lightning storm. I am very pleased with their work and would recommend them.

The company was wonderful from the start. There's always someone to pick up the phone, and they get back to me soon. In addition to doing the work exactly as I requested, on-time, they politely declined some requests that I had (running CAT5 cable), as they felt it was not within their area of expertise. This is a huge selling point for me - they could have easily said "yes" and run the cable, but thei policy of promptness, neatness, politeness, and getting the job done (and only doing what they do well) have made me a repeat customer.

We have had many "certified" home improvement people in the house -- from plumbers and carpenters, to builders and electricians. Certified Electrical's technician clearly cared about this customer and was interested and concerned about our electrical needs (he mentioned several times how important it is to change smoke detector batteries every six months, etc). He didn't rush us, and didn't try to sell us any additional services while here. Company seems to be run very well. Good communication; Great service; No hassles. House was clean and free of debris when he left.

I was told to expect technician between 9-12, at 9:10 he was in my driveway!!! Dave was professional in his work and explaining of the problem we were having with one of our outlets. He replaced it and continuted to the inspection I requested. He performed a through inspection, offered suggestions along with a plan based of cost and needs. I was extremely pleased with ALL aspects of this service and will definetly be using this company to complete the electrical work in my home.

I had a very hard time connecting with this company to geta simple estimate or idea of rates. They use an answering service, and then someone calls you back with information. If you miss the call, then you have to call the answering service again to leave a message. If you have another question, as I did, you have the start the whole telephone-tag process over again.So while I imagine that this company does great work, it's been frustrating to deal with the pre-work discussions and process so I am going to look for someone else. UPDATE to response: I called only during business hours and still got an answering machine. If email is preferred, business should let customer know when leaving a message - or better yet, have the answering service provide that information. I would have loved to have communicated by email but did not know it was a valid option.

The electrician replaced the transformer for the puck lights and the switch for the foyer light without any problem. But the timer for the outdoor lights was not reconnected properly. The timer was no longer functioning and the outside lights stayed on continuously. I called the company and was told that the the timer was probably broken. They would come look at it, but, if it was the timer they would charge for the repair and visit. I decided to look myself and found that the load wire was disconnected and capped with a wire screw and that made the timer not work. Follow-up on Feb 27: After submitting my report on Feb 20, the company contacted me to follow up on my report. Although there was an initial mistake made with the work, there was obviously some miscommunication involved as well. The company offered a full refund and I accepted the refund. I consider the issue resolved to my satisfaction. I give the company credit for meeting its policy of "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back."

Overall, I love working with this company and do intend to work with them in the future for other projects. The customer service has always been professional and willing to go the extra mile to help us with issues/concerns. And, the technician has always been very knowledgeable in all the job requests and courteous throughout.

I used Certified Electric ("Certified") for a Safety Inspection, offered through Angie's List, several weeks before this review. Certified identified a potential problem, and I contacted them for a follow up quote. I specifically requested a call the day before the scheduled appointment. No call made as requested; instead, called the same day (I missed that call, and returned the call 20 minutes later). Treated me very poorly on the phone, stating that "We call thirty minutes before a scheduled appointment." Representative asked me if "I was crazy," when I asked if he was on his way. I prefer to work with contractors that treat others well, and act in a professional manner. I will not ever use Certified, and I will make a point to relate my experience to others in my area.

If I could tell the story from s tart to finish I'd probably not need an electrician. Suffice to say that Dave was on time, pleasant, and cleaned up after himself, which in and of itself is unusual.

I requested an estimate online and received a response almost immediately. The job took about 5 hours. We provided the light and fan. The technician, Alan, was very professional and cleaned up after the job was done. There was some confusion about how the time was billed but Gary in the office worked with me to clarify the bill and made corrections. Very responsive.

The technician, Alan, was the same one who had done our inspection earlier (this was useful since he knew the house, and where the faulty grounds/GFIs were). He called about 15 minutes before arrival to notify us he was coming. He arrived as scheduled and got all the work done in an orderly, professional way. In addition to fixing/replacing the faulty grounds and GFIs, Alan was careful to match up new switchplates, where needed, to the colors that were already there. On the surge protector, he explained how he had installed it (inside, rather than beside, the circuit panel) and why, and how it should work. He tested the new GFIs, of course, and also each of the new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. Though he had to work in several parts of the house, there was no mess anywhere. The old light fixtures, sockets, smoke alarms, switchplates, and their boxes were left neatly stacked in the garage. Some people might prefer to have them carried away -- for me this was fine because I was able to break them down and recycle a lot of the materials.

Came on time. Changed a plug point near a sink that was not grounded. Suggested changing the fire alarms as they were old. However when they were replaced, the new ones were not communicating well with each other i.e. they were beeping. So he removed them and put back the old ones. I was not charged for this. I asked him about surge protectors and he gave me a quote. I asked him if he could put them in on the same day. He said that if he had time he would otherwise he would come back later. As there was time, he completed this. I'm pleased with the work and thoroughness.

The initial call to Gary went well. He asked that I send him photos and he gave me an estimate. Later, a person came to my home to measure for parts (but arrived late). They called to let me know that morning that they were running behind. They came in, did what they had to do and they were on their way. My appointment was scheduled for today, 1/20/11. The electrician arrived on time and completed the work within the estimated time frame. He was friendly and answered all my questions. I'm happy with the choice that I made.
