We recently bought an old home( built in the 1940's) that still had original light fixtures and no ceiling fans. So we decided to save a few bucks and try our hand at replacing two light fixtures in the bathrooms. After spending 8+ hours over Christmas break, we decided to call a professional. (We were ultimately able to change the lights ourselves, but wanted to switch out 4 more fixtures and add a fan and didn't have the time to replace them all.) So we called CET and were very happy with the result. We were able to get a good estimate over the phone on the price and scheduled an appointment quickly. The technician from CET replaced 4 light fixtures and installed a ceiling fan in the master bedroom. It only took him 2-3 hours and was well worth the money to save the time it would have taken us. We had other electricians work on the house and were very disappointed at their sloppy work. I just wish we had come across CET sooner. They are responsive, professional and competitively priced. We are now finishing out half of our basement and having them install can lights and outlets. I'll submit another report once that work is finished - but we expect good results.

Awesome. Called and told them what I needed done and they gave me a pretty accurate quote. They are time and material billing company, so I expected them to be off, but they were right on the money. I needed a quick turn around and they scheduled me in. Their guy came (prompt and on time) and knew exactly what needed to be done. He forgot to leave a wire for the disposer but came back and ran it for me. Other than that; everything was great... Once again; awesome! I would recommend them to anyone.

The electrical technician was a nice guy, did a REALLY thorough job checking for loose electrical throughout the house and fixing one outlet. Then charged a fair price of $125. No gougingly big prices like some. Really appreciated the service.

A++, I will certainly call Rob again when I need electrical work.

Previously, we had a handyman do some work on the house, including replacement of switches with new rectangular switches. Several of them were hosed up. (ie: The dining room switch turned on the porch light). I received the Angies List Big Deal information and decided to take advantage of the offer. The company called immediately after I signed up for the offer and worked with our timeframes. We discussed the work and they made suggestions and described the items that we could purchase in advance (though they could bring them if we preferred). The technician worked for 2 solid hours, correcting the existing problems, replacing about 12 switches and replacing two more with dimmer switches. He ran up and down the stairs from the basement electrical box to each room that was addressed. He also replaced a basement light that we had not described when making the appointment. He had the parts available in the truck. He was courteous, hard-working and helpful. I would absolutely use this company again.

Awesome! Initial phone contact with Gary was very professional. Rob the electrician performed the work. Very knowledgeable and professional. Did a very clean job and was respectful of our home. Completed the job in a shorter time than expected. He gave me some good advice/tips about various things. There was a very minor issue a couple days later (by no fault of Rob's). Rob and Gary were quick to react and Rob came back out to fix it. Great, trustworthy company. Would definitely hire them again.

I used them through Angie's List. Their price was reasonable and it was competitive. Their efficiency was average. The actual gentleman who did the work was okay but I had issues with his professionalism and I talked to their customer service because of the issues. They sent a second person out there at no charge to fix some of the issues and it was not a problem. I was extremely happy with the solution that they gave me. They were really responsive and very professional. I would use them again.

I originally called for a light that burned out (pop behind the wall) and a ceiling fan. The technician came out and replaced the light switch, installed a ceiling fan. Then, at my request inspected the fuse box and replaced a light fan in the bathroom. The whole experience was just great.

It was a special that came up in the e-mail. He did not destroy the ceiling. He not only cleaned up after himself, but I was thrilled because he had to try to find it without the duct work. There were only two little holes that they ended up putting in. They did a fabulous job at a fabulous price.

It went well. Rob from CET showed up on time, took in what we wanted to do, brought in his tools and the required parts and set to work. He explained the challenges we might face as we were trying to install recessed lights in ceilings that included duct work and structural support. He was clear in his communication, provided alternatives for getting the results we wanted, and helped us make the right choices. He worked diligently and cleaned up when he was done. The whole process went so well that we asked for an estimate for additional exterior work and went forward with it, which will be in another Angie's List report.

It went well. Rob arrived on time, reviewed the lights that I had purchased for the installation, and walked around the house with the to review the replacement of the existing lights, the locations of new lights, and the proposed wiring control for the new lights. He reviewed what I wanted, discussed different options (particularly for where to connect and control the new lights), and then went ahead with the work. He kept me updated as he went along and then worked with me on establishing the settings for the motion sensors and the directions of the lights. As it was daytime and hard to tell, he offered to come back and make adjustments to the sensors and/or lights if I need him to. I did for two of the elevated lights. I put in a request to have Rob came back. It was easy to schedule. He came and completed the work quickly and made sure I was happy with the work. If I have future electrical needs, I plan to return to CET for it.

Ric arrived a little later than expected, but called ahead and apologized for the delay. He was friendly and professional, explaining what he was doing when I had questions and working quickly and expertly. I am very pleased with the service.

I joined angie s list specially for this project the guy who answered phone was great knew exactly what needed to be done even with my poor description they were on time neat at quoted cost and my husband is thrilled that the project got done by such professionals I will now use AL to get quotes to finish our basement

Company was pleasant to deal with -- making an appointment was easy and the electrician came at the appointed time and date -- he was even early. As it turns out, our problem was minor and something we could have taken care of ourselves, but the man from CET was polite in describing what needed to be done to get our fans working properly again, and took great pains to make sure I understood what he was talking about and that I felt comfortable all my questions were answered. He left his card with his direct cell no. and said to call him if I had any more questions. I would certainly call CET again.

Wanted to get some work done. Called the Fairfax office. Very unpleasant invidual working the Fairfax office. Sarcastic, snarky, and just not very nice. Would never consider using this company again based on that individual's bad attitude. He was on speaker phone, and the other person in the room with me was looking at me in amazement at the tone of this guy. Will not use this company again.

Gary took the time to be clear and candid with me even after-hours. This call, by the way, was preceded by a 6:30pm call to CET's office just the evening before - when I expected voicemail and instead caught an admin staffer on her way out. However, she immediately offered to "sit back down" and walk through our needs. Oddly, I actually "hope" we soon have the opportunity to pay CET to assess and finalize all of our electrical work.

CET professional arrived on time and quickly got to work replacing our three light fixtures. The one indoor fixture had a manufacturing defect and was missing a whole in which to hook a crystal strand. The CET professional drilled a tiny hole and quickly and efficiently remedied the situation. The outdoor fixture was the original one that was in place since the house was built in 1966, so removal was a bit tricky, but CET tackled this easily. Both indoor and outdoor fixtures were changed without a mess. This is the second time we have used CET and we will continue to employ their expert services. I had a coupon from the last job, and the final $105 paid for the 90 minutes of work was more than a bargain. Bravo CET for putting customers first!

My experience from quote to service was outstanding. I was completey satisified with my experience. The technician was prompt and courteous. The company walked me throught what I needed to get an accurate estimate and timeline to complete. The actual time and amount was actually below my estimate. I highly recommend this company and technician.

Work went very well. The company ordered switches that did not require physical wire to an upstairs switch in my basement and also the same type of switch in the bedroom. The switches send a signal to the original switch to control the light or outlet. The chandelier went up without a hitch on a ceiling that was probably 14 feet. I was happy with there work. I dinked them a little on price for what they charge for the switches and they also required a month for the switches to be delivered before work could be performed. Once they arrived everything was performed to my satisfaction.

When I called, an actual person answered the phone. She took down my contact information and said I would get a call from the scheduler. The scheduler called back within 2 hours and we set up an appointment for 10/20 between 12 and 3. The company sent me an e-mail confirming the appointment, and encouraged me to ask about the free safety inspection. This is the only thing that went wrong. Apparently, whoever entered my appointment into their system put down 10/21 instead of 10/20, so I had to wait twice. The person I contacted would not admit to a mistake on the company's part, but I decided to go ahead and have them do the work. The technician, Alan, called when he was about half an hour from my condo. He had his own tools, but only a very short ladder and wound up using mine. He worked quickly, and had the 5 lights all in place and correctly wired in approximately 2 hours. Since the ceiling is pebbled concrete, it made a bit of a mess. He asked for a broom and cleaned up after himself. Once the lights were up, I asked about the safety inspection, which involved checking the outlets for proper wiring and fixing anything that was problematic. I had been told previously by a home inspector that two of the outlets had "open neutrals". Alan investigated these, and fixed them so that the bottom half of each outlet would work on wall switch, as originally intended. Overall, Alan did a very professional job, and left my condo as clean as it was before he got there. I was extremely pleased with his work and plan to call on him again for future electrical work.

My first contact with this company was the scheduler, and he discussed my needs and provided recommendations, including replacement of all the smoke detectors, which the company has in stock, and brought with them. The appointment was also set within a time frame that worked for my schedule. The electrician who came to do the work, Alan Moore, was outstanding. Very professional, punctual, tidy, and thorough. He found a problem with the previous installation of the porch light, and corrected that, then tested everything to make sure each item worked as it should before leaving. The price was very reasonable for labor and parts, and I was especially glad this vendor supplied the smoke detectors. I highly recommend Certified Electric, and would use them again, and would also ask for Alan; his expertise, customer relations, and company loyalty are wonderful assets, and speak well for this company.

As a Realtor, I have contracted with many electrical companies over the years. I can honestly say that CET really shined. I was so impressed with the electrcian who came to my home to perform the work, the supervisor who came by later, and their whole business process. They were just wonderful -- both the quality of their work and the professionalism and care their employees demonstrated throughout the process were so impressive. It's hard to find companies like this. I will definitely be hiring CET a lot in the future, and they'll be at the top of my list of recommended electrical contractors for clients and friends.

I had a decent list of electrical work that I needed done and decided to give Certified a try. James called about a half-hour before he was to arrive after he picked up some materials. I provided many of the big components of the work needing to be done (exhaust fans, lamppost, motion lights). James first began by determining the cause of loss of power in the master bedroom and surrounding rooms. Although it took several hours and removing most of the outlet and switch panels from the house, he determined that the feed line from the circuit breaker box had gone bad. He routed a new feed line and needed some of my help. I was appreciative to learn a few things. With power restored, James began working on the exhaust fans. One bathroom had an existing light fixture in the place of the fan. He removed the light and replaced it with the exhaust fan/heat lamp. While removing the light fixture and making the hole for the fan, a 3-4" chunk of drywall fell that would not have been covered by the fan. James volunteered to cut an hour of his labor for the mistake. He explained that I could either fill the hole with drywall mud or use the savings to hire someone. The fan was successfully installed and wired to an independent switch. I installed the other exhaust fan and left only the wiring for James. Though the bathroom had places for two switches and I asked to have it put to a new switch, he explained it would take significant time to fish wire to the new switch. It wasn't that big of a deal to me to have two switches and was thankful to save some money there. The fan was wired to the same switch as an existing light fixture. James explained that they don't usually do any of the ducting for the fans. I'm still trying to work on this step. Next, James helped me install an exterior lamppost. I wired up the internal parts of the lamppost (light, photocell, extra outlet) prior to our appointment. I also dug the hole for the lamppost prior to our appointment. James ran a wire from the house through the attic and together we made a trench to run the wire through the yard. Once it was wired, I completed the lamppost by filling with concrete and dirt. The lamppost wasn't working correctly, even though James determined it was getting power. He suggested that the problem was within the photocell. We could hear it click on but the light would not power up. I found a replacement photocell and managed to replace it days later. The lamppost now works great. The day was getting late and I had, at least, two motion sensor lights I was hoping to get installed. I told him it'd be fine to push until another day. He said that he could install one of the motion sensors to the front of the house using the same power source as the lamppost in less than an hour. He had it up and running in little time. James, overall, did great work. He was definitely knowledgeable and a hard-worker. He worked non-stop all day and wouldn't take me up on the offer of ordering some food for him (err, us). I'm not even sure if he ate all day while he was at my house. I appreciate that he was looking out for me to save some money by providing options. He needed to run to Home Depot to purchase a new drill. I still needed to get the bag of concrete for the lamppost. I'm thankful that he let me tag along with him. Very minor bad parts of the experience. I thought there would be slightly better cleanup, though I'm appreciative not to pay for this part. Our bathroom was a complete mess from the the drywall and insulation. Also, several of the floorboards needed to be pulled up to access wires and junction boxes. They were left open and some of the boards were no longer useable. Per hour, Certified was a bit higher than each of the other electricians I called, however with the 10% Angie's List coupon, the price was comparable. Take comfort in knowing Certified will do excellent work. I would definitely use Certified again for electrical problems that come up.

My first experience with Certified Electrical Technologies came about from a Big Deal offered on Angie's. I was very impressed the first time and after this latest project, I will continue to call on them in the future. The technician, Danny, completed installing the recessed lighting in my basement in much less time than was scheduled. It reinforced, again for me, his competence and professionalism. What's even better is that the cost ended up being less that what was originally quoted. So, I won all around! I am definitely a loyal customer now.
