Basement Technologies is very good at what they do. They are professional, prompt and responsive. It's probably best to call them if you have an unfinished basement or before you do a reno. We had a finished basement and they had to remove drywall to get to the cement block wall, and they do not replace/repair the sheetrock. We had to have the sheetrock replaced which was an added cost, but liked the fact that this company specializes in basement waterproofing and guarantee their work. I would use them again.

The inspector was knowledgeable and professional. He did not try to sell us on a whole new system and instead was able to explain why we had the water problem in the one specific area. He recommended how we could go about fixing it, which would cost a lot less than putting in a whole new system. I would highly recommend this company as they were honest and did not try to sell us on a whole new system, which we do not need.

Came out for the initial estimate and immediately fould the problem where we had developd a crack in the foundation. Workers arrived as scheduled. Covered all flooring from front door down into basement. Jack-hammered out the concrete floor as required to drain system. Patched the wall and repoured the floor. Cleaned everything up. Since then we have had multiple heavy rains that would have caused a leak but it has but completely dry. Excellent work that took care of a serious problem.
Description of Work: Contractor removed drywall as necessary to expose the crack. Jack-hammered out the floor bellow the crack to reach the drain field. Chiseled the crack top to bottom. Patched the crack with epoxy coverd by a carbon fiber patch. Covered patch with vinyl waterproof material. Back filled the floor wih stone gravel and concreted over the floor to match the existing floor grade.

Following a storm last summer, we had a foot of water in the basement and decided it was time to get the basement waterproofed. We had 3 companies come out to give estimates, which ranged from $8000 to $25,000! After reading the reviews on Angie's List, we decided to go with the low bidder, Basement Technologies. The work took 2 days, as expected, and everything went smoothly. The crew, which I believe was a family group, took outside smoking breaks now and again, but they showed up on time, worked steadily, and kept things reasonably clean. The sump pumps/drain system worked well & kept everything bone dry until March, when one of the window wells backed up & we had a small amount of water on the floor. I called Basement Technologies and they had someone come out that day. He quickly diagnosed the problem, which turned out to be a problem with how the tap was installed, so that it didn't allow the window well to drain quickly enough. He made a quick adjustment, and we've had no problems since despite all the rain.
Description of Work: The crew dug a trench around interior of basement walls and installed drain pipes. They also installed taps for window wells, a drain for outside the basement door, and 2 sump pumps

I contacted them and a gentleman came to our home. I wasn't there but my husband was. He looked at the basement, made the assessment and quoted us the price to fix the issue of flooding. The price was very reasonable to what we were quoted by Michaels and sons. They gave us an additional discount for being Angie's list members. On the day of the install, they arrived promptly at 8am and got right to work. They were very professional and even moved some bins out tof the way-which my husband was supposed to do but forgot. About 30 mins into them working, they stopped because there was a crack in the wall and they wanted to be sure there was no foundation issues. They recommended that we have a structural engineer come out and take a look. I knew that was not the case since that crack was put there when the basement was being finished by an idiot contractor over a year earlier. Nonetheless we had our guy come out to take a look and sign off on the work. I tried reaching out to our point person at basement technology several time but got no response. Finally I called the main office and someone called me back in 20 minutes. He apologized and rescheduled for the team to come back out to our home. Again they arrived on time and they competed the job in about 3-4 hours. They left the area very clean. Over six months later this was the best $3400 we've ever spent on our home. No more flooding since they came and have had no other issues since. No complaints and we are extremely satisfied.

I called on 7/6 based on the great reviews here on AL. Brian answered. Very nice on the phone. Said he does cover Harford County but he'd have his tech that covers this area call me or Brian himself would call me to get a service visit scheduled to perform a free estimate/diagnosis. Asked me many questions but kept repeating himself and getting confused on the phone and saying that he "must be mistaking me for someone else" and kept apologizing. He then kept asking me the same question over and over again. Is the leak something that I need a "shop-vac" for or "towels", I repeat 3 times over a few minutes that I needed towels, no shop-vac and he kept apologizing saying again, he must be mistaking me, etc... Brian called me back around 10am this morning, 7/7, and started the conversation by saying he believed he was talking to my wife yesterday... then went through the whole towel/shop-vac thing again. Then asked if I was sure that I had a "cinder-block" foundation... I told him we never discussed that yesterday or today and that no, I don't have a cinder block foundation... he then started apologizing again saying that he must have mixed me up with someone from Carroll County he was speaking to that was a lady which is why he thought he was speaking to my wife yesterday... His Angies List profile says he does the entire Baltimore area and the highlighted circle shows past Bel Air, MD, which is in Harford County. I live in Fallston, which is 10 minutes south of Bel Air, closer to him by a little bit. I'm well within that circle highlighted and when I asked him yesterday if he serviced this area, he said yes. Summary: 1. He was very nice on the phone. 2. Seemed very distracted, busy, unorganized, confused, and obviously took zero notes which is why he kept having to repeat himself. 3. His map on Angies List is wrong, he doesn't service Harford County because he asked me to take pictures of my challenge/leak and email them to him and then he would quote me a price... WHO DOES THAT? I've spoken to other company's already and every one of them, near and far, never said anything like that and all of them scheduled visits to come out and diagnosis and then give a free estimate. 4. Very disappointed with this company after 2 calls. Again, he seemed very nice, but I would tell them to start taking copious notes so we don't have to repeat ourselves over and over again, and to please not waste the time of someone who is outside of their area that they have no interest in driving to and quoting.
Description of Work: No work performed. They wouldn't even come out and give an estimate. Said to "email pictures". Details below.

Angie's List customers: Please note that most negative reviews are for when no work is performed by a contractor. This issue happened because of incorrect information which was given to me initially. WE HAVE 99% A REVIEWS WHEN WE COMPLETE THE WORK. It has been an insane few weeks, with tons of rain, and we're sorry that this one customer (out of the 400+ calls we received,) feels he had a bad experience. When I spoke to his wife, she said the basement was cinder block, and when I spoke to the husband on another day he said it was actually poured concrete. I received conflicting information, and had to guide him in a different direction, to make sure to address his problem adequately. This was not our fault.

Basement Technologies did a great job installing a sump pump for us. Initially, we received quotes from several other companies, but the quote from Basement Technologies was the most reasonable one and responsive to our needs (other companies looked around, gave us decent quotes, and also told us about everything else that was wrong with our basement and improvements we needed to consider - or else). What prompted us to look into installing a sump pump were constant rains that kept flooding our basement. Thankfully, with the sump pump, we've gone through several years of dryness now.

After our basement flooded, they were not only responsive to my request for an estimate, they didn't oversell the fix we required. From beginning to end they were professional. We had the work done about a year ago and have not had any water enter our basement since then. A couple of times I had a problem with the existing sump discharge pipe and they quickly responded to my email and came over the next day to fix it. I would wholeheartedly recommend Basement Technologies to anyone.

I think very highly of this company. The person I'm working with right now has been very responsive and very helpful with everything so far. It's an ongoing process and I've been talking to Jay over emails for the past few months and I'm finally settled on them as a company. Jay is very responsive, very knowledgeable. When he came down to look at everything, he pretty much confirmed exactly what I was thinking. He was able to immediately identify. He recommended a great structural engineer to inspect the wall that's being removed to make sure that it can be removed. He gave me a great recommendation. Every time I emailed him or texted him, he's always gotten back to me within a couple of hours or something like that so he's very responsive. I'd give them all A's in every category. I think it's very good price for the amount of work that they're proposing to do. I think they have a 20% discount or something for Angie's List members. They have good deals on Angie's List which is actually one of the reasons why I was interested in getting a quote from them.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Basement Technologies. They are coming out to redo my sump pump system in my basement. I'm scheduled to have that done in July 31st. They're putting in a waterproofing membrane on the interior wall to collect any water that might sip through the wall so it gets channeled out to the system.

They came quickly to give an estimate which was about 7000 less than the other quotes I received. They scheduled the time and showed up as scheduled. Work took about 5-6 hours. They cleaned up everything and were professional. I had some water after the work was done and when I called or emailed they came out immediately and checked on the system and worked to trouble shoot it. In full disclosure they did miss one appointment but called to explain that they got caught up with another job.

I have been remiss in providing a review for this contractor, this review should have been submitted long ago. The installation went pretty well. Unfortunately we had a lot of water that came into our basement. Jay suggested that we install two sump pumps instead of the just one we already had. I am glad he did. It had rained pretty hard for a few days before his crew arrived. When they started breaking up the concrete the water started pouring in, it was a real mess. When they drilled into the block walls the water literally shot out. They busted up the concrete, dug a trench, installed a filter barrier, laid drain tile, covered with stone, and then covered it all with new concrete. They also installed two sump pump tubs and sump pumps in opposite corners of the basement. Even though it was a real mess they did a great job cleaning up afterwards. I cannot say enough about this company's customer service, they have been great, they stand behind their work. I had a small leak appear in the center of our basement after a very heavy rain. I called Jay and he sent two men out to install an additional drain to the center of the basement at no additional charge. Yesterday I noticed a small amount of water on the basement floor, thinking it was water coming up through the floor I took a photo and emailed it off to Jay. Jay replied to my email within the hour. Before I could reply to the email he called me on the phone and wanted to know if he could come right over to check it out. He was there in about 30 minutes. As it turns out he found that the water was not coming up from the floor but from the floor above. Amazing customer service. I HIGHLY recommend Jay and Basement Technologies.

It took awhile to schedule the appointment (they had to cancel twice), but once they came out, they did find the source of water coming into my basement. It took 2 people about 30 minutes to diagnose, and the service didn't include fixing the problem. So it would be a stretch to say that I got $750 worth of service (as the Angie's list deal advertised). However, the two who came out were knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant, and I was able to fix the leak and haven't had trouble since. So it was worth the $299 that I paid.

They were very professional. the original bid was for 45 feet of work, but the guys on site determined that it just needed to be the middle 15 feet. So they wrote up a new proposal and completed the work that day. I waited several months to write the review to make sure the work fixed the problem. Every spring I spent at least one night mopping up water that would leak in to the basement from the front of the house. Basement Technologies fixed the problem. We have been through several storms where the ground was saturated and not a drop has come into the basement. The previous owners disguised the problem by sticking a towel behind the panel wall which would absorb the small amounts of water that would leak in. Only when the towel became completely saturated during week long storms would it leak into our basement. That towel was quite a science project when Basement Technology removed it.
Description of Work: They cut a trench into the basement floor and installed a Water Trek drainage system which they ran to a 1/2 HP sump pump they installed in the floor and ran a pipe out through the front of the house. They covered the wall with a Duraskim liner and attached a vinyl cove plate flashing at the bottom above the Water Trek System. Then they replaced the concrete over the trench and hauled away all the debris.

Provider called to schedule and immediately asked about why I had purchased the deal. I mentioned need for inspection for past/current leaks. Despite that being explicitly covered I was told it was only for active flooding and not evaluation. He told me to call Angie's List and cancel. It was clear they were trying to squeeze out the less profitable customers based on deal response.
