Basement Innovations Waterproofing

Consultant came an assessed our basement. No up selling, or phoney discounts just recommended exactly what we needed. The installers came on time and clean up well. It's been over a month and the basement is dry.

Great! The work supervisor met and told me what work would be performed. He addressed concerns I had. He developed acceptable solutions to meet unexpected challenges. He gave me his cell phone number so I could follow up with him on any questions I have. The basement is now dry, and the workmanship looks great!

My advice: ask the sales team every detailed question and get every detail in writing. Do not assume the sales team knows how the work will actually happen. There's a communication disconnect between the sales team and the team doing the work. The sales guy told me that they would remove the paneling, drywall, and framing from my basement, jackhammer the footing, install a waterproof barrier, install the drainage system, move and replace the sump pump, and haul away all the debris. When the work team arrived, they explained that they would?only remove the parts of the walls that they absolutely had to and that they didn't know why the sales team tells people that they'll remove everything and that that over-promise happens?all the time. When the work team was done, I got a mini walkthrough that didn't mention the new sump pump discharge, didn't mention the truck load of demolition debris left in the garage and, being frustrated with the half-walls hanging from the ceiling, I didn't think to check those until the guys were gone. They didn't bring a truck/trailer big enough to haul away all of?their own debris and apparently didn't care about the aesthetics of the sump pump discharge leaving the house, hovering oddly above the flower bed. It took two emails before I got a reply from them about the disconnect between promises made and?level and quality of?work performed. After the first rain, it took two emails to get a reply about the leaking sump pump discharge where I was encouraged to fix it myself but that they'd come out if I couldn't. I tried to fix it myself, it didn't work, and it's now been two more emails with zero reply. I delayed writing a less-than-great review but have had it and thought others should know. Since they came, I've removed the hanging half?walls, rented a truck, hauled all of the debris to the landfill, and now I'm going to replace the sump pump discharge myself, too. Maybe I can finally get the build-out started. My experience with them has reinforced that, caring about the details, I should just do the work myself. Trying to find something good to say about the work: the drainage system seems to be installed well. The Dura-Skrim isn't 'to grade' like they promised but it's within a foot?and, even with the gaping hole in one corner, seems to be working well.

As with any large renovation/construction work, I got 3-4 quotes before committing to the work. Basement Innovations came back to me with a very competitive quote, but what really made me choose them was their willingness to work with me to get some additional things done in the basement (patching up some cracks and installing a new dryer exhaust). Jay took the time to explain everything to me, and the extent of the work that would be done. Work was performed very quickly and in a very professional manner. I am extremely satisfied with the work!

The team removed the shower stall to put in a drain along one whole wall of my house. Thankfully the rest of the wall is in an unfinished portion of the basement so it didn't affect any of the finished portion other than the shower in the bathroom. They came on time and worked quickly. They were done before the estimated time and left the basement clean. For the past 15 days we have had rain every single day. Sometimes heavy, sometimes light but I have been watching the basement and there isn't any moisture coming in at all. They definitely did a great job. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to my friends.

After 8 years of various water issues in my basement (including water in basement after rain) I interviewed 5 different companies about waterproofing the basement. There were many solutions offered but I felt the solution/price offered by this company made the most sense (after my own research). They also offered a lifetime guarantee on their work. They arrived and performed all the work that was contracted. They were professional, friendly and hard working. They demolished the bathroom downstairs and got to work! They installed a french drain for the perimeter of the basement, including 2 new sump pumps and adequate discharge away from the house. I waited for the first rain storm - lo and behold there was water on the floor. I called them and they came out immediately and tested the system, and all was fine. It turns out that water had leaked through an unsecured window. I am now coming up on 2 years after the work was completed and everything is wonderful. We have had several intense rainstorms (including hurricane-level rain) and my basement is dry. I couldn't be more pleased. After years of dreading the rain because of the mess it would cause, I say bring it on! My basement remains dry. I would give this company the highest rating for their professionalism of all staff encountered and quality of work performed. I was so apprehensive about this project - unsure and didn't know whom to trust. These guys came through in all respects. Highly recommend!

After our basement flooded, they were not only responsive to my request for an estimate, they didn't oversell the fix we required. From beginning to end they were professional. We had the work done about a year ago and have not had any water enter our basement since then. A couple of times I had a problem with the existing sump discharge pipe and they quickly responded to my email and came over the next day to fix it. I would wholeheartedly recommend Basement Technologies to anyone.

The cost was significantly less than the competition. They came on the agreed date and performed the job in one day as they had promised. After I viewed photos of the completed job I realized there was a small area underneath a door sill that was not sufficiently patched with concrete. I called the site manager and this problem was taken care of within two days. About a week later my realtor told me there was water in the basement after a large rain storm. I called the company and they promptly came out and reassessed the situation. They determined that there was water entering around the margins of a basement doorway, between the frame of the door and the door rather than through the walls or from the basement floor. They sent me video of their test to document the problem. They were extremely responsive and helpful in this matter which I appreciated very much especially since I live in another state and had to to manage this hold project remotely since the house was unoccupied. After replacing the basement door and frame, I have not had any more problems in the basement. I highly recommend this company for their professionalism, attention to detail and through followup and the reasonable cost. They are also innovative and flexible in their approach to solving problems.

After getting 3 estimates for waterproofing my basement, I chose BIW without reservation. There was a sincerity and straightforwardness to the BIW estimator which, coupled with the the fact that his proposal made more sense than the other two and was less expensive, made my decision easy. I wasn't disappointed with the work or the result. The workers were very courteous, friendly and efficient. The job length was just as proposed. The result? Absolutely no leakage in the basement for well over a year now. And pretty much everyone who works for BIW is (extended) family, which I liked.

I contacted several companies on Angies List. We had a significant flood in our basement and contacted several companies for bids to repair. Basement Innovations was not the cheapest (nor the most expensive), but it did present the most professional and comprehensive solution to the problem. The work was done in a timely fashion, the technicians were polite, thorough, and very careful with my furniture. They cleaned up the area very well. I would recommend them to anyone who has a leaky basement.

I have been remiss in providing a review for this contractor, this review should have been submitted long ago. The installation went pretty well. Unfortunately we had a lot of water that came into our basement. Jay suggested that we install two sump pumps instead of the just one we already had. I am glad he did. It had rained pretty hard for a few days before his crew arrived. When they started breaking up the concrete the water started pouring in, it was a real mess. When they drilled into the block walls the water literally shot out. They busted up the concrete, dug a trench, installed a filter barrier, laid drain tile, covered with stone, and then covered it all with new concrete. They also installed two sump pump tubs and sump pumps in opposite corners of the basement. Even though it was a real mess they did a great job cleaning up afterwards. I cannot say enough about this company's customer service, they have been great, they stand behind their work. I had a small leak appear in the center of our basement after a very heavy rain. I called Jay and he sent two men out to install an additional drain to the center of the basement at no additional charge. Yesterday I noticed a small amount of water on the basement floor, thinking it was water coming up through the floor I took a photo and emailed it off to Jay. Jay replied to my email within the hour. Before I could reply to the email he called me on the phone and wanted to know if he could come right over to check it out. He was there in about 30 minutes. As it turns out he found that the water was not coming up from the floor but from the floor above. Amazing customer service. I HIGHLY recommend Jay and Basement Innovations Waterproofing.

They were awesome! My hubby and I had them come in to install a sump pump that was much needed in our basement after we remodeled. They were prompt, moved storage items out of the way that my husband forgot to move, and fully cleaned the work site once they were done. They were very professional from start to finish. Almost two years later, we,be had no issues with water since then. The best $$ we,be ever spent.

It was a big job - the crew was working the whole day until pretty late. They were efficient, professional and helped with a couple of additional minor requests. Now I do not have to worry about the wet basement corner or a potential flooding. I highly recommend this company.

The technicians were very knowable and efficient in doing the work. They had to cut out a potion of the floor and install diverter panels to solve the water leak problem. We have had no water leakage at all since the repair.

We used Basement technologies to correct a very wet basement in our big old house. I used to cringe when it rained knowing that we would have water seep in from the stone and cinder block foundation; but no more. Their price was fair, they were fast and when we had an issue with a pump several months later Brian made it out the same day and corrected it. We are very pleased with their service. I would recommend them to anyone who has basement water issues.

Basement Technologies was one of 3 waterproofing companies I received quotes from. My primary contact was Mike Doolittle. I chose BT because of their excellent communication and response times. Every time I had a question for Mike he promptly answered it via phone or email. His response time and consistency was the best of the 3 companies I solicited. BT's pricing also came in slightly less than the rest of the competitors. The job itself was very uneventful. The crew was great and worked extremely fast. They started at 0800 and were finished by 1300. My only complaints are these: I was told they would set up a vacuum/suction fan that would draw out most of the dust caused by the jackhammering. They never set up this fan and the basement was left extremely dusty. Luckily I hung plastic sheeting over the doors to the other rooms so the dust was contained within the work area. Also, I was told they would only take about 3 feet of drywall off and 2-3 feet of framing off. They actually take drywall and framing off up to the ground level which in my house was almost 6 feet. This wasn't a huge deal but I was left with more drywall work than I was anticipating. About 2 weeks after the job I was painting my new walls and noticed a small hairline crack in the concrete slab. This crack was located in a corner where they had dug the trench. It was about 18" long and ran diagonally from one trench to the other, essentially cutting off a corner of my slab. I took pictures and sent them to Mike in an email. I asked about the severity of the crack and what could be done about it. I never heard back from that email. I took my pictures to the local hardware store where the manager told me it didn't seem like a big deal and had me fill the crack with cement crack filler. In closing, I am satisfied with the work, price, and scheduling of Basement Technologies. If I had to do it again I would probably have hired a firm that finishes all the way to hung and sanded drywall. Finding a drywall contractor to repair the damage they left behind was more expensive than I had anticipated.

We choose not to use use them because the other company's solution was better.

Arrived around 7:00, finished around 10:30- they had indicated it would take until 1. They did bring in tarps to prevent tracking in too much outside dirt. They did move washer and dryer, there was minor issue with washer reconnection but they responded quickly to resolving

Basement Technologies were great. They arrived on time, despite the lousy weather. And halfway through the job, the power went out. Rather than just bail, they continued to do what they could in the dark without power tools. They didn't want to leave me with a half done basement, so they waited to see if the power went on, even though there was nothing more they could work on without power. Thankfully, power was restored in about 90 minutes and they were able to finish the job. The work is wonderful, they cleaned up after. And they charge by the job, not the hour, so they didn't wait around just to try to make more money. I would highly recommend them.

They were very good and came out and did the work needed.

In a home we recently bought, we had trouble with water seeping through a foundation wall. What made this especially problematic was that the leak was in a corner, right along a wall shared with our neighbors. It was a rather tricky situation to deal with. But thankfully, with our neighbors' agreement and willing to help us solve the water infiltration issue, the crew from BI was able to install a system that has helped channel the water into their trench system, and keep it out of ours and our neighbors' basements. I would recommend these folks again without hesitation. This kind of work definitely warrants some discussion about options and potential solutions as to why some solutions are better suited for some situations versus others. Through this experience, I also felt like I learnt something from everyone I was in touch with from BI. The quality of their works is very good, and the warranty they provide only adds to the peace of mind.

Didn't use the service. The only reason I'm putting anything here is to stop getting pop ups and emails from Angie's List asking me to review. Gave an A because I don't want to ding the company for something that never happened (and it's a required field).
