Basement Innovations Waterproofing

We obtained another company to give us advice. We were advised to have the cinder blocks painted with Dry Loc this spring and have the landscaping by the hpouse drain towards to yard, away from the foundation. It's good to get a secondopinion. This correction to our basement & landscaping will cost a LOT less.

Had some basement flooding after Hurricane Sandy, and thought we would need an expensive waterproofing job. The Basement Technologies folks worked with us to schedule a mutually convenient inspection time, showed up promptly, and did a thorough inspection. Turned out our sump pump wasn't working, and no waterproofing was needed -- just a new sump pump. They could easily have sold us a big, expensive job we didn't need, but they were honest and professional, and didn't charge us a dime. I highly recommend them.

It turns out they weren't. I have to say, they were really very helpful and honest. Jay stayed with me while I talked to the plumber so I would know what to say since I didn't understand everything. I even called them a day later and they helped me. I couldn't really use their service but they helped me. The guy I spoke with on the phone, Brian, was really nice and helpful too. He could have said a lot of things, but he was very honest and helpful, I really appreciated that. They even called me back and told me thanks for meeting them on time. They are a great, great company.

We occasionally have water in the basement - mainly when there is an extremely heavy rain or it rains for a period of time. Back in the 1980's, we had the same type of system installed that Basement Technologies would have put in. When I ordered the voucher, I was hoping for a different system. So, we made our appointment hoping that the system he would propose would be different and might not cost a huge amount. The Technician Inspector showed up at the appointed time and went straight to our basement. After looking around at it, he concluded that basically they would do the same thing that had been previously done. He said he couldn't guarantee the water would be completely stopped. At least he was honest and re-enforced what I had thought. At least I saw that waterproofing is still basically the same as it was back in the 80's. We decided not to use Basement Technologies services at this time.

I ended up not using the coupon. It wasn’t the deal I was looking for and the description wasn’t very clear.

Overall, we had a very positive experience with Basement Technologies. We received estimates from 2 other companies who appeared to be as capable of completing the work, but we chose Basement Technologies because the proposed options that would resolve our water problems both on the inside and outside of our home. Jay and his crew arrived and finished on time. It's been a month since the installation and we have had no addtional water problems! The only caution was that we were not prepared for the amount of "dust" that remained in the air and eventually settled on furniture and other items after the project was completed. We would advise others to keep their furniture covered a few days after the work is done.

I had first contacted Basement Technologies because I purchased a $39 Basement Waterproofing Interior and Exterior Inspection and Analysis back in April 2012. We each ended up rescheduling that appointment, and ultimately the coupon expired before I got it rescheduled. I called anyway to see if they would honor it, but they told me they didn't have that program going any more so they couldn't. I didn't understand what that meant and was a little frustrated, but Brian asked a few questions about our problem and suggested that he have Jay talk to me about it. Jay called me promptly and made an appt. to come out and check things out. He seemed very knowledgeable and didn't make a high pressure sales pitch at all. We have had problems with water getting into our basement when we have very heavy rains, both through a couple of concrete walls in the unfinished part of the basement and underneath a door that leads out to a patio. Jay took the time to look around at our drains etc. and came up with a plan to fix both. As it happened, they came to do the repairs on Oct. 2, and we had very heavy rain that day so they were able to see what I meant about the water coming in under the door and through the walls. While we haven't had another rain heavy enough to test the results of their work, Jay seemed confident that we will have no more leaking, and I'm confident that if there are any problems they will follow up on it for us.

It was great. Jay, the lead technician, came over and gave me an itemized list of options for our water situation in the yard and basement. I talked with him for quite some time and we came to an agreement on the best solution for me and worked with me on price. They came in quickly and did all the work in a day. I am very pleased with the work, timeliness, and professionalism. I have had no more water problems since the work was completed.

I was very pleased with the professionalism of the service provider and with his congeniality when I explained that the service was not for me at this time.

After the derecho thunderstorms in late June, I noted that my (unfinished) basement walls were wet to the touch near the floors and in certain areas water dripped from the insulation covering. There was no standing water, but I'd owned other houses and have had trouble with water leaking into the basement. Manager Robert Farrell came to inspect our basement and did a thorough assessment, after which he pointed out water seepage from the joints in the walls. He explained in detail--using hard copy photos and equipment supplier information sheets--what needed to be done: trenching and installing drainage system along the walls, installing 2 sump pumps with alarms and water evacuation lines for the sump pumps. He explained how many men would be in a work crew, their arrival time, how many days it would take, dust & noise mitigation, etc. Brian called to schedule dates; he was very professional and polite, working with me on scheduling the job. He was very flexible and understanding when a family emergency forced 2 postponements. Supervisors Jay and Tim came on the first day, initially with a large crew; then after several hours, Tim remained with a crew of 4 men. All the workers were very polite and professional, were able to answer my questions, and worked steadily throughout the 2 days they were here. They also protected the hardwood floors of my foyer, were careful not to step on the hardwood with their shoes, cleaned up after themselves each day. The Basement Technologies crew did an excellent job of installing, then covering over the drains with concrete; same professional installation of the sump pumps. After installation was complete, they cleaned the basement of all debris from their work; they also swept up the foyer. They mixed the concrete on my lawn and cleaned up any traces of concrete. Supervisor Tim did a walk-through with me after the installation, explained how the equipment worked, and answered all my questions. I am very pleased with the professionalism of everyone at Basement Technologies.

What I was trying to accomplish was verification that I needed to use a basement dehumidifier. He conducted a good and thorough check of the basement and pointed out money saving steps that I can do to combat basement dampness.

Due to some error, they missed the initial appointment. Although I did receive an apology, I had to pull teeth to have them come out to do the report/analysis of our basement. It was actually

We set up an appointment with basement technologies because of years of living with mildew smells and suspected water damage in the basement. Mr. Robert Farrell came to our home exactly on time and inspected and analyzed the health of our basement. We were expecting to be told that it would cost thousands to fix because about 25 years ago we had a company give us an estimate of several thousand dollars to fix the problem and my husband didn’t believe them. I did. Mr. Farrell carefully inspected all aspects of the basement. He concluded that we do not have evidence of a serious water problem. To deal with the excessive moisture, he made numerous recommendations, all of which we could implement ourselves. Examples included taking items off the floor and putting them on open wire shelves and getting a bigger dehumidifier. Everything he said made sense. We wish we had learned about this company years ago. We are very grateful to them.

The service was great. The man who came out gave me some good tips on how to keep the underneath of my house dry. It was very helpful and informative. He was good and seemed very honest. He did not try to sell me anything I did not need.

The technician (Robert) who came out was on time and seemed very knowledgable. Robert explain a number changes that could be made to improve the reliability of the sump pump system. This information was given verbally, though I wished they would have provided a written summary inspection report with their suggested improvements.

An appointment was made very promptly. Robert from Basement Technologies came on time, performed the inspection, explained everything in a very thorough and understandable way, and answered all questions to my complete satisfaction. No attempt was made to sell their services but an estimate was provided when I asked for it. In my opinion, this is perfect service.

I spoke with Brian from Basement Technologies. He said that for various reasons that what we needed was something different?that most of their work is inside and protecting the basement. He seemed certainly very knowledgeable. I appreciated his directness in this situation and letting me know his professional opinion.

They were very honest because they said right away that the job that we needed to have done was not within their expertise. They did spend about 40 minutes giving us suggestion for what we might do since it was a problem they couldn’t handle. I would give them an A+ if I could.

Mr. Farrell did not actually waterproof our basement because he felt it would not be worthwhile for us. He did certainly provide the service I paid for which was to come to our house and survey the situation. I would absolutely have used his services had it been advisable and will recommend Basement Waterproofers of Fairfax to anybody who might need them. They are absolutely an "A" organization!

I thought my basement would be very diffucult to waterproof.I lived with my problem basement for way to long.Basement Technologies solved my drainage and leakage problems. Overall, it was a very good experience. We were very happy with the salesman who came out. He explained what made their products more advanced than their competitors and offered us a fair price. The installers who were sent to our home were excellent and extremely tidy and polite. They arrived every morning with a great attitude and a great work ethic.
