I hired Brian and Mike to stop the water from coming in through the basement walls in one corner. They responded promptly, came out on the day they said they would and performed the work quickly and professionally. Had 4 guys on site so it was completed in one day and included clean up and removal of all jackhammered concrete, the old sump pit, installation of a new sump and piping, all underground pipe, and a material attached along with wall to direct all water to the stone under the concrete and into the pit.
Description of Work: We had water coming in through a basement stair, under the door and in a corner of the basement.

Steve and team arrived on time and finished by early afternoon. The work area was blocked off to avoid dust. They left the job site clean and everything completed. I am very happy with the work and the price was good. This is why I use Angie's List to find competent contractors with good pricing. I am eager for the next rain to test it all. No more mopping up the basement!
Description of Work: Drains installed along walls where water was coming in during heavy storms as well as a pump to get rid of it. I've been struggling with this issue for too long, getting different answers from different sources but always was short of resolving it.

The services that were provided were fantastic! The company was referred to my by a neighbor. The customer service was excellent. Every detail of the process was explained. And, a finance option was made available to me. The crew showed up on time, were friendly, and prepared. When the crew discovered a small issue with the original design they worked with me to determine what my best options would be based on my needs. The issue was resolved quickly and work continued on time. Equally important to me, they didn't leave a mess. They left my yard and my house in order. I would highly recommend Basement Innovations to family and friends.

Received call in response to my request. Caller was abrupt and didn't give me a chance to speak. He spoke so fast that I didn't catch his name. Stated he was a small company and was unable to perform the work within the needed time frame and hung up without giving me a chance to respond. I was left feeling that I was a waste of time. No empathy whatsoever.

We are so sorry that this customer had a negative experience with us. She had called in when we were receiving hundreds of calls, around the time of the major rainfall we had in July or August of 2017. We sincerely apologize for rushing through her call too quickly, and will make an extra effort with future customers when we're inundated with calls. Basement Innovations has 99% A reviews (with hundreds of reviews,) when we complete the job, and always strive to make the customer experience better each day. Thank you again for the feedback, and we will truly take it to heart.

These guys know what they are doing. They knew right away what the problem was. We discussed options and made an appointment. They came on time and completed the job in one day. They dug both sides of a corner of our basement that was the issue, added a french drain and an additional sump pump. It has been about a month and we have had several down pours and extended bouts of rain and we have had no more problems.

What a relief! We finally have a dry basement! Brian and his crew at Basement Innovation did a fantastic job. They were prompt, efficient, and explained every step of the process, and delivered a great project, as advertised. They enclosed the below grade section of the wall with the water barrier, created the trench for the draining system and installed the sump pump, and finished by restoring the concrete flooring as needed. I was very pleased with their expertise and craftsmanship. Everything in one day! I couldn't believe it - and they took the time to answer all my questions. Everything looks great. I can't overemphasize what a great job they did!

The waterproofing was done reasonably well and they were quick to get a crew there. About 10 months later I started noticing water on the floor in the utility room. I checked for possible leaks from the bathrooms or kitchen, but found nothing. Then I noticed that the water appeared after the sump pump ran. The pipe from the sump pump went between the ceiling and the main floor and emptied into the sewer drain pipe and the water sprayed out of the joints when the sump pump ran. They asked for photos then said it didn't look like their work. I told them when the work was done and that I had records of the job. Then they acknowledged that they had done the job, but, if the pipe was there from the old sump pump, they just used it and aren't responsible for it. They recommended that I hire a plumber to fix the problem. I feel that if the existing pipe didn't meet their standards, they shouldn't have used it. They decided how to perform the job. They never offered to look at the problem beyond the photos I sent them, and I don't get the feeling they stand behind their warranty or their work. This was part of a larger job of remediating the mold from a wet basement and refinishing the basement. Four contractors were involved. The other three contractors returned promptly to correct any defects I found. Basement Innovations Waterproofing was the only contractor that would not even come out to inspect the problem. In response to Basement Innovations Waterproofing’s reply to my review I add the following information. Basement Innovations Waterproofing misrepresented the facts in their reply. The following addresses those misrepresentations. I can support everything I am saying with e-mails, voice mail, and photos. 1. They claim to have 99% “A” reviews on jobs they completed, but Angie's List statistics show that they only have 91% “A” reviews on basement waterproofing and 92% on all of their work. 2. They claim that I wanted them to keep the discharge line that was used for the previous sump pump. When they did the work they recommended draining the discharge from the sump pump into the sewer line because they were concerned that running the line outside to the front yard would result in the water flowing back into the basement. The front of the house had been waterproofed before I bought the house and the job was done wrong according to the county building inspector. Basement Innovations Waterproofing was hired to redo the waterproofing properly so the money I was investing in remodeling the basement wouldn’t be wasted. The idea that I would constrain them to reusing part of a failed waterproofing system is ridiculous. The direction I gave them is the same I gave to the other contractors working on this project: If it meets or exceeds the building code and that is their best recommended solution, it is acceptable to me. I never directed Basement Innovations Waterproofing to do anything that they recommended against, and I never required any contractor to reuse any materials that they felt were unsuitable. I also have photos that were taken by the mold remediation contractor before the waterproofing started. One photo is of the location of the sump pump Basement Innovations Waterproofing replaced. It shows that the old pipe rises 6 inches above the floor from the center of the well, then turns horizontally toward the wall, then travels vertically along the wall to the ceiling. If they reused that pipe as they contend there would have to be a joint above the floor and there isn’t; the discharge pipe is flush with the wall from the ceiling until it enters the floor with no joint or interuption of any kind. The vertical pipe that leads to the sump pump is the same as the rest of the discharge line, so it is doubtful that they reused any existing pipes. 3. They claim that it was more than three years before the discharge line started leaking. However, the work was done on June 8, 2016, and my e-mails show that I reported the leak to them on May 31, 2017; it took me a few weeks to discover the source of the water. Clearly, the problem occurred less than a year after they did the work. When they refer to the work being more than three years old, they are talking about work I had them do on the other side of the house. I have told them this repeatedly, but they continue to insist on repeating the same incorrect information. The remodeling contractor noticed some dampness in the cinderblock party wall near the discharge line for the waterproofing they did previously, but they would not send someone out to look at that problem either; that’s some Lifetime Warranty. 4. They claim that they offered to repair the problem for me for a $175 service fee. I have all of the e-mail we exchanged. At no time did they offer to perform any repairs. In fact, the reason I wrote a negative review is because they wouldn’t even send someone to take a look at the problem. The owner did make a verbal offer in phone messages to “help” with the plumber after reading my review, but they never specified the extent of that help or provided any written offer. I suspect the offer was contingent on me changing my review or withdrawing it. I have recordings of his voice mail messages. 5. Their example of fixing a toilet and then expecting the plumber to fix the shower under warranty is ridiculous. Clearly showers and toilets are separate systems and I would never expect someone to warranty anything that is beyond the scope of the job. They have insisted that they are not responsible for the discharge line because it is a pre-existing condition and they wouldn’t have used the materials they saw in my photo. I hired them to waterproof the front of the house. Installing a working sump pump was part of the job. Assuming that they reused existing materials (and I don’t believe that’s true), if those materials did not meet their standards they should have replaced them; that’s clearly within the scope of the job. As I said, I have e-mails, voice mail recordings, and photos to support everything I have said.

Response from Basement Innovations Waterproofing
Please note that a negative review for us on a job which is completed is a rarity. Basement Innovations Waterproofing has 99% A Reviews on jobs which are completed. Member wanted us to keep his current discharge line, which was tied into his sewer line (this is the only time we have ever had this request.). We made our connection where the sump pump meets the sump liner. Over three years later, Member had a leak a good distance away from where we did any work. None of our connections were in this area. My head technician offered to come out and fix it for a $175 service fee, but Member was not interested, and wanted the work done on this area we had nothing to do with for free. Since the member had us tie into his sewage system, this leak could have been related to his sewage system, but regardless, this was not the location of our work. We stand by the work we do 100%, and offer a lifetime warranty. This would be like a customer having work done on his toilet by a plumber, then over three years later, there's a leak by his shower and he expects the plumber to come fix his shower. We appreciate the work the member did with us years ago, but his request would not be taken care of for free by any waterproofing company.

These guys were a pleasure to work with. Mike Doolittle came out to do our inspection and unlike the three competitors we had out did not try to blindly sell us on a full waterproofing system without diagnosing the issue first. Mike was a pleasure to work with and always very responsive to emails from the time we decided to proceed through the actual work. The crew that came out to do the work was knowledgeable and did a great job. Would highly recommend this company.

After playing phone tag initially with this business, I was eventually told that I would be called back after the individual I spoke with (the owner, perhaps?) discussed scheduling with an estimator. That was two weeks ago and I have not heard from them. However, I received multiple voicemails in the course of playing phone tag about how great this company is and how highly they are rated on Angie's List. I can't hire you if you are not responsive though, can I? Two other companies were far more professional in my opinion.

I had seepage between the slab and concrete block in my basement. Basement Innovations was one of a few estimates I got and were the most affordable given comparable approaches other estimators provided. They booked me relatively quickly and the crew showed up on time and ready to go. They were quite efficient and polite and just got the job done. The cement work to finish up the job looked smooth and aligned with my existing slab. Of course it hasn't rained since they did the job, so I'm waiting on that, but all things considered it went smooth.

I called Basement Innovations to ask them to inspect the apparent slab leak in my basement and give me an estimate for repairs. The guy on the phone said that they would not do work in my area because it was too far. But, he asked what the problem was anyway. I told him there were several quarter-size water marks in our basement carpet and he immediately determined that I had a hydrostatic pressure problem -- ground water was being forced up through the basement slab. He described a solution that involved jack-hammering a trench in the slab all the way around the basement's perimeter. Said it would cost thousands of dollars. The next day a different waterproofing contractor (All Aspects) inspected the problem (in person) and found that we had a slow leak in a pipe that was sending water under the carpet. Our plumber fixed it for $250.

ANGIE'S MEMBERS; PLEASE NOTE THAT WHEN WE PERFORM WORK WE HAVE 99% A REVIEWS. THIS CUSTOMER WAS OUTSIDE OF OUR SERVICE AREA, AND HAD NO WORK DONE.THE VAST MAJORITY OF BAD REVIEWS IN ANGIE'S LIST ARE FROM MEMBERS WHO NEVER DO THE WORK WITH YOU. This is not a fair review. If this member was in our service area, we would never try to sell them a system if it turned out to be something so simple. They just asked what the common fix was for waterproofing problems and we told them over the phone.
