Basement Innovations Waterproofing

Brian troubleshooted the issue of water in my basement by phone, then Jay came out and found the crack in my foundation. Another company had come by earlier that day telling me "when you remove the drywall, give me a call back and I'll come back"... Jay immediately asked, where's your hose and we turned it on so that we could see where the water was entering. When we saw where it was coming in, he said "here's where we're going to cut out the drywall" and proceeded to get it done. We discovered the crack went the length of the wall from the bottom of the window to the floor. He scheduled the repair for the following week and the job was done quickly and professionally. I recommend these guys in a heartbeat!

The team arrived on time and finsihed the job as promised. They were all pleasant and polite. We are pleased with the work done and hopefully won't need anymore waterproofing in this house.

The whole job was performed in a day. They moved all of my storage *and I have a lot!) towards the middle of the basement and covered it in plastic. The job was neat (there is always going to be some dust when a jack hammer is involved) and professionally done. Not a drop of water since the job was performed. I would definitely recommend Basement Technologies for anyone who is looking to waterproof their basement.

I spoke with Basement Technologies this morning and learned that their company does not provide mold remediation services despite it being listed as one of their services on Angie's List. Their rep apologized and recommended that I get a refund for the deal I purchased.

They were efficient and organized. The team showed up with a plan and executed the job according to the proposal.

My main water pipe broke 3 years ago. I had a company replace the water pipe. I always felt that they didn't add enough topsoil when they closed up the hole, and shortly thereafter I had water in my basement. They came by and tarred up the basement wall . Periodically, there would be water in the basement, and they would out again and add more tar. At the beginning of the month there was more water in the basement. I found Basement Technologies on Angie's List, it had very good reviews, and I called on October 10. Brian called back right away. I sent pictures of where the water was coming in, and set up an appointment for October 17. Jay came out to do an inspection, and we set up an appointment for today. They were scheduled to arrive between 8:00am and 9:00am. They arrived at 9:00, which is very good considering how bad the rush hour traffic is. They were done by 10:30. They put the cement around the pipe, added more topsoil, tarred the outside wall, and tested to make sure there were no leaks. I wish that I had called them after the first leak instead of dealing with the first company . I would highly recommend Basement Technologies.

This company, Basement Technologies, specializes in solving basement water leaks (the issue I have) but they told me this discount only applies if I purchase a $10,000 system from them, which I don't need. This Big Deal says "offering 25% off your full perimeter interior basement waterproofing drain system and sump pump for only $49!....FOR EXAMPLE, if your total bill comes to $10,000, you will be invoiced for $7,500.00" It appears to me this company gives a straight 25% off regardless of price. It does not specifically state you must pay $10,000 upfront to get the 25% off. This is why the company immediately told me to cancel this Big Deal. No service was completed. This is frustrating that Angie's List would allow such confusion to take place.

I could not be more pleased with this company. Another contractor had told me it was a waterproofing issue and was ready to jack-hammer the foundation. Jay cut a hole in the drywall and found a simple pipe leak -- which will save me more than $6000 in repairs AND fix the real problem. Next time I will skip the other estimates and go straight to Basement Technologies.

Jay Bengtson applied his expertise to determine the route of water entry from the exterior to the basement interior room. Jay surveyed the premises making note of all the possibilities and then executed a course of action. He ran water from the hose into all the areas especially the roof gutter stack and discovered that solid PVC should have been installed under the landscaped section adjacent to the side entrance landing instead of the slited black plastic flexible tubing and slotted pop up which allowed a huge flow of roof water to seep into the sanded ground below and enter my cinder block basement foundation. To confirm he bore a hole into the interior cinder block and ran a flexible tube camera to show the water source. Great job. Jay also advised to install a drainage system to take care of the puddling rain water accumulating at the front step of the main house entry and to change out the incorrect paver directing rain water back into the pvc weep hole of the side entrance landing. I was very impressed with the amount of time and effort expended and expected to pay something for the work involved. Jay would not accept any payment so I told him I would contribute to his office Christmas party. Jay suggested that I contact the contractor responsible for my problem and have him cover the needed repairs and if necessary only pay for the materials involved.

It was excellent and they were really fantastic. They took a look around, they used special equipments to diagnose the humidity and the structure of the basement. Their recommendations are based upon their findings and their report. I purchased it because I did have problems in the basement and they were able to identify some of the root causes, they found out about that. I didn't take them up on the work yet but I'm leaning that way once I get my refund in April. I didn't get any services done, just the inspection reported itself. They were very professional, very communicative, took their time and explained things clearly. I intend to use them again.

I am so glad we went with Basement Technologies for our sump pump install. We had three different companies out here to give estimates. Jay was the most knowledgeable rep of them all and least pushy, and we decided to go with them. It was very easy to schedule and communicate via email and phone - very quick to respond. A crew of three showed up on time on the day of install and finished without any trouble. This company clearly takes pride in its work and making sure customers are happy. Highly recommend.

We found out that we did not need to waterproof it. He explained that our sump pump line was causing the issue and gave us a recommendation for a structural engineer to deal with a crack in the foundation. We thought he was really great.

They showed up on time and completed the job in about 6 hours. They were neat and very respectful. They broom swept the basement and cleaned up the driveway.

Overall, contractor was very honest and suggested options to resolve my problem.

First, I would recommend Basement Technologies to anyone who is in need of the services they provide. Jay was excellent! Due to the posted reviews, I felt like I knew him before actually meeting him. All the great things that are stated in the reviews are all true. He is very knowledgeable and do not mind sharing his knowledge with you. I had mold beginning to grow in a room directly under my front porch. Jay assessed the situation and identified the source of the problem. Unbeknownst to me Jay had created a rain simulation above the problem room by turning on my water hose and placing it on the front porch. He was granted permission to cut a hole in my wall so that he could allow me to see with my own eyes the root of my issue. The hole in the wall revealed water running down my wall. At this time, Jay proceeded to share what steps needed to be taken in order to remedy the situation. However, due to the fact that mold had already began to grow, his company was unable to assist. So he recommended that I consult with a mold remediation and abatement company. That shared, I received all of this information "free of charge" and the craziest thing is ?I wanted to pay him something? because I was so much more educated about my situation. I felt like a thief? as if I took something without paying for it. I have never felt so empowered after consulting with a contractor. Again, I would recommend this company to anyone who is in need of the services they provide.

Jay arrived promptly to inspect my basement and give me a waterproofing estimate. As this was my fourth estimate and inspection from a waterproofing company, I pretty much knew the drill. What I didn't expect was the level of concern and effort that went into the Basement Technologies inspection - the first real inspection I received. The other 3 companies had walked around the basement for 5 minutes, used a moisture meter, looked at my wet carpet and gave me an estimate ($6,000-$7,000) for the waterproofing they said I needed. Jay, with the help of his college-bound daughter, (they are a wonderful family company), asked questions, pulled up tile (with my approval), drilled, checked the crawlspace, and spent probably an hour trying to figure out why my basement floor was flooding (for the first and only time in the 4 years I'd owned the house). He gave me an estimate to waterproof the basement (a bit lower than the others I'd received because of an Angie's List coupon) but I could tell he wasn't satisfied that he hadn't figured out the problem. Before leaving, he walked around the outside of the house and saw an old well that everyone (home inspectors as well as basement waterproofing professionals) had told me was something unconnected to the house, left over from years ago. Jay pulled up the extremely heavy lid and told me he thought it was a dry well /storm drain that appeared to be clogged (I couldn't see it) and before I made any decisions about waterproofing, I should have it cleaned out. A few days later, a plumbing company came out, cleaned it out and water began to pour into it. My basement floor dried up within hours and I haven't had a problem since. Jay and his company saved me thousands of dollars and renewed my belief that there are still companies out there that have integrity and care about their customers.

Good advice, will follow it.

On very short notice and during a time when demand was high for waterproofing companies due to flooding caused by unsually large amount of rainfall over a continuous period of time in the Washington area, Basement Technologies returned my desperate phone call for assistance and immediately scheduled an appointment for the morning of July 4th. When I pointed out that it was the holiday, Mr. Jay Bengsten, the technician, explained that since most of the activities occurred in the evening so he had plenty of time to inspect the property in the morning and write up an estimate, if required. As promised, he showed up on time on the 4th and immediately began inspecting the property. There was some water damage to wood paneling in a small section of the basement, however, this particular damage occurred in 2006 and was subsequently repaired when an extension to the down sprout was added. Mr. Bengsten recognized the damage was old and after asking me some questions about the home and inspecting the outside of the property, determined that the downsprout extension had corrected the problem and no additional work was required. He then refused to charge me for his services even after I offered to pay for his time and gas cost for his travel from Baltimore to DC. He declined my offer. The property was subsequently re-inspected by the buyer's inspector who agreed with Mr. Bengsten's assessment. Mr. Bengsten was very professional and honest. He was aware of the deadline I was facing for selling the house and could have taken advantage of my situation, but he elected not to do so. I would, without a doubt, use Basement Technologies again.

They referred me to a more appropriate provider - very helpful and customer-focused.

It went fine. It was all good. He was really informative and took timeout to explain things.

The service went very well. The guy that came out was very responsive and he answered my e-mails. He got back to me regularly and they showed up. They have a unique technology that they used and they get in and out. They also took care of some minor issues that came out during the project for no additional charge. There wasn't other extra recommendations and stuff that they could do to help with either with the problems but when asked they was going to put that into their job with the same price. They weren't offering so when I asked them to do some additional work within the scope of the job they agreed to do it.

BRIAN GAVE ME SUGGESTION ON WHAT TO TRY FIRST IN ATTEMPT TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM.

I contacted Basement Technologies on April 2nd and spoke to Brian and explied my delima. Jay came out and did an estimate a week later. I felt comfortable that Basement Technologies were confident in diagnosing the cause of the water infiltration in my foundation wall. Jay explained everything to me and provided me options. I hired them to do the work on April 19th. Jay and his crew arrived on time and went to work right away. They were professioanl, courteous and got the job done the same day. It was a challenge to access the areas behind the stairs, bathroom and in the utility room, but they were able to get the job done without causing any damage to the existing walls. Jay even offered suggestions regarding the step crack in my foundation wall and suggested I seek the advise of a structural engineer first to confirm his finidngs. I am very pleased with the work that Basment Technologies performed. I have to apologize for taking so long to write this review, but I will say that my basement is totally dry and their system works. Thank you for a job well done!!!
