Basement Innovations Waterproofing

Over the previous 6-7 years, I had been having increasing problems with water seeping through my basement wall and making ever-larger puddles on my floor. Two other waterproofing companies had come to give me estimates to fix the problem, ranging from $5K-$9K. I was pretty sure I wanted to go with company that gave me the $9K estimate, but decided I'd keep my appointment with the final company, Basement Technologies, anyway. Good thing I did! Jay spent a while outside my house trying to find where/how the water might be coming in and, unlike the other two companies, checked my neighbor's window well, which abutted my house. There he found a hole in the corner of the window well which funneled all the rainwater flowing into it directly into my basement wall. He even told me how to fix it -- mix up some hydraulic cement and patch up the hole with that. (Worked like a charm, BTW!) Of course, his honesty meant that I wouldn't be signing any multi-thousand-dollar contracts with him -- but he did have my great gratitude!

We contacted the business in an attempt to make an appointment for an estimate and they seemed too busy to be interested in our business. The person on the phone was very curt and overtalked the entire time. He acknowledged the fact that he was overtalking and apologized but continued to do so. He hung up abruptly stating he had a family emergency. While this may be the case, and I am sorry if that is so, the call could have been handled in a more professional manner. I have recently talked to some neighbors who used Basement Technologies and were very satisfied with their work, but unfortunately it seems as though we will not get that far. First impression is the most important. I hope that everything worked out with the family emergency, but we will not be using this company.

The Technician was an excellent diagnotician!! We have had a an on-going leak in our basement for 2 years and used several different firms to assist us in trouble-shooting this problem. Finally, we gave basement technologies a try and we could not have been happier with our diagnostic visit. They arrived on time and were able to diagnose a very complex problem that was leading to the leak in our basement. Thousands of dollars later and countless days of off work went into trying to identify this issue. However, within 30 mins the technician identified the issue through a very thorough process of elimination. Here is my feedback on the experience: 1- Extremely knowledgeable in the field of waterproofing 2- Honest and Professional 3- Thorough and complete in their work 4- Punctual I was extremely pleased with their service and their ability to identify this complex leak that has been puzzling us all for years. MANY THANKS!!! and I do plan on using them for my future needs. I whole heartedly recommend them to anyone having basement issues and will definitely spread the work in our local community. The cost was $3360 which we had agreed upon before the project began. The contract showed a cost of $4200 minus a 20% discount which equaled the final $3360 cost. We never discussed these calculations, so we don't know if this was an Angie's List discount or not. The contract covered the entire basement rear wall ( 28 ft ) plus about three feet of each adjoining side wall. The process steps were: 1. Contacted Basement Technologies and explained that water is coming in through the bottom of our window well windows. 2. Jay Bengston had us email him pictures of the interior and exterior of our window wells. 3. Jay visited us and explained the process they would follow, plus showed us pictures from a previous job. 4. Jay emailed us the contract which we printed off, signed, and returned to him. We asked him to include window well covers (two) which he installed at no extra charge. 5. Jay said his crew would move all boxes, etc.from the work area at no extra charge. However I did it myself since I'm retired and wanted items stacked in my own order. I moved them back after crew finished. 6. The work crew came out about 10 days later. The job began about 9:30 am and finished at about 5:30 pm . SUMMARY: All of these process steps went quickly and Jay answered any questions via email. Pros: 1. Crew taped to the ceiling a plastic sheet that separated the entire work area from the rest of our basement. This very effectively kept dust contained in the work area. 2. Crew cleaned up work area well when work was completed. Cons: 1. When plastic sheet and tape was removed, the tape in some spots pulled off paint from the ceiling. 2. I tried to remove the cover over the sump pump but found that one bolt's threads were stripped and could be loosened but not removed. Thus the cover could be pivoted but not removed. JOB SUMMARY: The overall process and work went smoothly. Its been two months since work was completed and all water is being drained and pumped out of the basement. We would recommend Basement Technologies to other customers.

They were great. Very professional. Quick. Done in one day. And cleaned up afterwards.

Basement Technologies was great. When I called them, they sent an estimator to my house promptly. He was very thorough in his inspection of the problem area, and he then discussed options for solution with me. He was very clear and straightforward in his description of the work involved, timing, and cost. We opted for the installation of a sump pump to solve our problem. Basement Technologies promptly set up an installation appointment. The crew arrived on schedule and performed all the work we contracted for quickly and very professionally. The crew was very friendly and professional. They managed to keep the mess involved (they had to jack hammer trenches into 18 linear feet of basement flooring, plus dig a pit for the sump pump) to a minimum. They cleaned up everything very thoroughly, and when they departed, they left us with clear instructions about how long we needed to let the new concrete set, what we needed to do when we installed new drywall above the trenched area, etc. After a long, snowy winter and some periods of heavy early spring rain, I can say that Basement Technologies solved our problem. No more water seeping to the basement bedroom. It's dry as a bone. Would I recommend them to Angie's List members? You bet. Without reservations. I think they did a great job for us at a reasonable price.

Awesome! Fast, friendly and punctual. It took 5 hours to complete the job. I thought it would take a couple days. This is my favorite contractor I've ever worked with.

I spoke with Brian and explained the situation. He told me that their services might not be what I needed, but he would have someone come out to look at the issue. He said that I could always request a refund if their services did not fit my situation. Brian provided me with an email address of the person who would actually be coming to my home to review the problem. Via email, I made an appointment with Jay, who came to my home and reviewed that areas where the water was coming into the basement from both the inside and the outside. Jay also determined that the services provided by Basement Technologies was not what I needed, so I've requested a refund for the Big Deal.

Went very well. Had four companies off of Angie's List come to look at my leaking basement problem. Basement Tech was the cheapest for the amount of work they promised. And they guaranteed one day to finish, others planned several days. The workers were fine, seemed to get along with one another, and did a good job. They were working in very muddy conditions in the crawl space and did not complain. So far we are satisfied, although the true test will be how this project holds up over time. We are happy to have a warranty on the work.

With carpet and drywall, it was hard to know where the leak was coming from, and I guessed wrong. After researching local companies, it was clear that this was the company to do the job well. After my phone message was returned almost immediately, I learned more about the company and was able to schedule a visit from Jay to check it out. He made sure I understood what he needed to do to find the problem, which included removing a piece of drywall, and then he ran water through a hose from the outside to confirm what he found. He explained every step of the recommended solution as well as what they didn't do (such as repair the drywall and carpet), and when I asked whether an additional fix would help, he helped me see that it wasn't needed and would not be worth the cost. I was completely comfortable agreeing to the proposed work, and they were able to schedule it the following week, just before Christmas. This was really helpful, as I was leaving town for a few days and was worried about coming home to a huge puddle. The repairs were completed in just under 2 hours, and the basement stayed completely dry through the several inches of rain and snow we had over the past few months! I was amazed and very impressed with their professionalism and efficiency. Eventually I had the drywall and carpet repaired and very confident that I will not see any more leaks.

Scheduled appointment with multiple contractors and Basement Technologies was one of them. Basement Technologies arrived on time and evaluated what needs to be done. They tested to see how water was getting into the house by putting a hose to the problem area and wait for it to leak it. The estimate provided was also lower than other contractor and because of the test that they did I got a sense of confidence that the job will fix the issue. A sump pump was installed. It's been over 1 year and I have not notice any leaks.

They were punctual, did the work quickly and well, and cleaned up. They provided two options. We went with the interior crack fixing although it involved more work on our part. We were satisfied with the work done.

Jay came out on a particularly rainy day while the basement was flooding. He was able to diagnose the problem and recommend a solution right then. The crew came out the following weekend and was able to do the entire job in one day. This included tearing out part of a bathroom, breaking up the floors around the base, putting in the new drain system with sump pump and cementing the floors back. I waited two months before posting this review to make sure I wasn't going to have any problems. Through several snow melts and a couple of rains my basement has remained completely dry.

Amazing! I feel bad it's taken so long to review Basement Technologies. Everything went well, from the initial phone call to a timely reschedule, and prompt kept appointments. Jay was straight forward and--most importantly--correct about what was causing our problem. The crew, headed by his brother, swept snow off my driveway and yard to minimize the dirt to get into the basement. The mess was manageable, the repair was quick but thorough, and we have had no problems since. I can't recommend this crew enough. If we spring another leak, I'll know who to call. Thank you!!

So far, no wet basement. It's a relief to hear the rain or melting snow and not be afraid of what we would find when we went down the basement stairs. We are pleased with the work and the company's professionalism. We would certainly recommend Basement Technologies!

We had a major flood last October in the furnished, carpeted lower level of our home. We had had water problems before but never as extensively and it seems the problem has worsened over the years as the exterior drainage of our 40yr old home has pretty much now failed. When he came out for the intitial estimate, Jay identified a major structural issue that dicatated how/where the drainage system had to be installed, that two other contractors had totally missed. I went with this company because they took the time to look at the outside landscaping, the lot, the drainage and the strucutre (foundation vs. framing) and gave me a comprehensive solution. Their price was as good or better than other estimates I received. Because we flooded at a busy time, I had to wait a bit for Jay to come out for the estimate, but I am glad I did. They also came back after the intial installation and addressed an ancillary issue that was revealed after the main work was done- they took care of it quickly and at no additional cost. I was very impressed with their wanting to solve the problem completely and comprehensively. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with water problems.

I was very impressed with their knowledge, professionalism, and dependability. They assessed the problem and provided an understandable solution. A sump pump with outside drain was installed; the floor was jack-hammered and a drain was installed; vinyl was attached to the cinderblock wall; mold spray was applied; the trench was re-cemented. There were other repairs done of which I don't remember the names. Workers arrived before scheduled times. Drop clothes were laid from front door down several staircases to back of house to insure cleanliness. All debris was removed. No damage was done to existing house or furnishings. There was one small oversight -- the insulation was not tacked down as planned. Overall I would definitely recommend them and give them an A+ rating.

I purchased a big deal of $299 for $750 of basement work. At first, I was told to e-mail pictures of the basement crack I was seeking to repair and I received a response from Jay very promptly. I was very impressed with Jay, who evaluated a vertical basement crack and explained things very well. He is not a salesman with some type of pitch as to why their company's method is best. Rather, he described the nature of the problem, provided a diagnosis on the spot and submitted a proposal within 24 hours. Jay is very knowledgeable and I felt at ease after speaking with him. That being said, I decided to go with a contractor located closer to my home who presented a better initial price to repair the crack in essentially the same manner. They did drop their price after I suggested that the crack repair proposal was too high (even with the Big Deal) but by then I had made a decision. Regardless, I highly recommend that you consider Basement Technologies.

We received three estimates and chose Basement Technologies because of their experience, competitive pricing, and guarantee. The work was done on time and in a professional manner, the amount of dust left by them was much better than we expected, and they left the basement clean. Most importantly we no longer have a wet basement!

Basement Technologies did a great job. They came and performed the tasks in 1 day, left ample instructions for final cleanup and work around the affected space. They also responded during the initial assessment with honesty and realistic expectations. I was happy to work with these guys and will do so again if we need more help.

Their service was excellent. Water was coming under my basement from pooling water in a pothole in front of my house. I had six contractors come out and bid on the job. Basement technologies came out last. Their bid reasonable and their assessment was detailed. They accurately diagnosed the issue. Jay clearly had a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The crew was professional, courteous, and completed the in approximately 3 hours. My basement has remained dry. I would go with them if I had another leaky basement in another house.

It went great - no issues. We have had significant rain since the system has been installed and the basement has not had any flooding! Very blessed to have found Basement Technologies!
