Jay was very responsive and accommodating to my schedule. He explained everything clearly. His team was prompt and courteous. The job was done in about 3 hours. They were very easy to work with and I would definitely use them again if the need arose.

Hello! On 10/15/14, I purchased a Big Deal from Basement Technologies (Order # 1573398) as a gift for my son, Austin Auger. A representative went to his townhouse today in Arlington, VA to discuss the potential reason for water in his basement. The representative suggested that he clean out his window well as he believed that was the cause. Since no basement waterproofing service was provided -- nor is any to be scheduled -- may I receive a refund of the purchased Big Deal? Please advise.

Great. Jay came over and knew right away what needed to be done. He explained the entire process and it worked just as explained. Have not seen one drop of water since! Time will tell but do not expect anything in that area

I purchased the Angie's List deal and contacted the company to set up an appointment for an estimate. After communicating with the company representative, I determined that the probable Basement Technologies recommended solution would be more costly and comprehensive than I believed would be necessary for what I deemed to be a small waterproofing job. The representative indicated that it may be best to not set up an appointment and instead to pursue a refund of the Angie's List deal.

Our basement was flooding every time it was raining hard. Thanks to the new drain system we don't have this problem any more. The company staff members were very professional, courteous and responsive. About a week after they installed the system, there was a big storm with lots of water, and we again had water in the basement. I called the company, and they came to check on the problem the same day, even though it was weekend. They fixed it. Now our basement is dry even during big storms. I am very happy with the quality of the work.

After talking with the service provider it appeared this deal was not going to work out.

**If you're just skimming this review, go to the 5th paragraph where I talk specifically about Basement Technologies (it's titled). The first four paragraphs do not apply to Basement Technologies but are about my experiences with other basement companies and my own basement woes.*** BACKGROUND (Does not apply to Basement Technologies).? Please read this if you have problems in your basement. Please read this?before?you invite anyone into to your home to discuss solutions. The?basement business in this area is a cutthroat, vicious, and unprincipled business. In my 48 years, I've never witnessed such smarmy, unscrupulous, and disingenuous people selling every sort of "proprietary" flimflam "solution" under the sun. The salespeople use high pressure scare tactics;?they cajole and plead; and one even went so far as to?threaten?my husband and me?in our own home! The whole vetting process was a nightmare and one I implore you to be very wary of. We had a relatively small problem as far as these things go. One of our foundation walls was bowing inward and had a few minor cracks. There was no water in our basement; fortunately it was dry as a bone. We needed to arrest the bowing and thus avoid future structural problems and potentially, water problems.? We invited no less than five companies to our home. One company wanted to vertically implant a huge plate in our front yard, attach an underground cable between the plate and the foundation wall, wind it up, and literally pull the wall outward and back toward the street. Another company wanted to attach some sort of super strong (and super expensive) carbon fiber strips along the inside wall with what amounted to crazy glue. Other companies said we needed to dig up the front yard and waterproof the exterior of the foundation. Still others said we needed to waterproof the interior of the wall.?All?of the companies (except Basement Technologies) said we needed to install an interior water management system (weep holes, sump pump, etc.)?even though our basement was dry and even though we already have a water management system on another wall!??I could go on. We heard stories about everything from?having "extra" labor on hand so prices could be discounted, to stories (perhaps true) about how basement companies offer lifetime warranties and then routinely change their names to something similar in order to render their warranties worthless (I would check this one out if you're considering using anyone other than Basement Technologies).? After the first couple of these "visits" my husband did a smart thing. He hired not one but two independent structural engineers to assess the situation and provide recommendations. It was the best money we've ever spent and ended up saving us thousands of dollars in the long run. The structural engineers very clearly said that we did not need waterproofing solutions or worse yet, a new interior water management system. "Never, never invite water into a place where it has not already established itself." As far as the bowing, we simply needed to install some I-Beams to reinforce the wall and arrest the bowing process. The very expensive and seemingly high tech carbon fiber strips are untested and may (or may not) work.? ***Basement Technologies*** Fortunately my husband and I stumbled upon Basement Technologies. Unaware of the engineering reports we had at our disposal, they were the?only?company to properly assess the situation. They were the only company to suggest the simple, cost effective time-tested, solution recommended by the independent structural engineers. They were the only company to tell us the truth: We didn't need a water management system or additional waterproofing because we didn't have a water problem! Basement Technologies even allowed us to make payment contingent upon the approval of the independent structural engineer, charging us in advance only for the cost of the raw materials (the beams). I know that Basement Technologies does more than install I-Beams. They are experts in all things basement and can do everything necessary?to make your basement (or crawl space) safe and dry. The key word here is "necessary." This company will not try and sell you something you don't need and they won't recommend anything other than time-tested, structurally sound solutions. Their costs are reasonable and the quality of their work is outstanding.? Basement Technologies is truly a family owned business in the best sense. They are good at what they do and take obvious pride in the quality of their work. They were timely, clean, polite, considerate, and were a pleasure to have in my home. They even came back months later and replaced our old sump pump?for free because they were concerned we would get taken advantage of by a plumber!? In the end, Basement Technologies Of Fairfax charged us $5,800. Had we gone with one of the other?companies, the cost would have been $12,000 to $18,000 and in all likelihood the problem would have remained unsolved or worse, the "solution" would have created even more problems. ?You be the judge.

I was impressed with his honesty. I would recommend him to anyone and will turn to him if and when we need it.

I hired another contractor to fix the leak and within 6 months it was leaking again. I got three more quotes and Jay was not only the most reasonably priced, but he was very respectful of me. (One of the other contractors treated me like a "little woman who didn't know what I was talking about".) Jay got me on the schedule quickly and got the job done efficiently. The basement is still dry! I deal with a lot of contractors and I can't say enough about what a great job Basement Technologies did. I have already recommended him to my clients!

Excellent work. Responsive in solving a slight problem after the work was done. Would definitely recommend. Had a tendency to complain about other companies at the first meeting, but did good work: on time, as promised, solved the problem.

I give them an A they are really great. His company did not specialize in what I needed to be done and he explained the situation to me. He gave me information on the right people to call and I appreciate that kind of customer support.

They quoted the price to be higher than what the deal was offering so I had to get a refund, but they are still doing the work for me and I am happy with them so far.

It turned out we did not need the expertise of Basement Technologies for our problem. Jay was very through and very honest with his diagnosis of the problem . I would definitely recommend their company to anyone with basement water issues.

Both Brian and Jay were really responsive when I contacted them. It was very nice not having to deal with an answering service for everything. After sending some pictures, Jay came out and did an on-site inspection. He stayed for over an hour and checked our entire wall. He used a hose and nailed down all the spots where the water was coming in. He found some places that we didn't even know were a problem. We've had over three companies come out and Jay was the first one to actually test the wall with a hose to figure out our exact problem. All the other companies just guessed and suggested solutions based on their guesses. Both Jay and another company we talked to determined that the grading of the land was a problem. However, because Jay thoroughly went over the wall, he was able to find several other spots where the water was coming in. These problem areas were actually the cause of the majority of the water. Had we listened to the other company, we would have spent nearly $4,000 and still had a bad leak. Instead of trying to sell us on a major project, Jay suggested we contact a landscaping company to regrade a small area of our yard and have a handyman come and caulk some holes in our brick siding. An easy and affordable fix. He even offered to talk to the handyman in case we could not remember all the places that needed caulking. We are so glad we contacted Basement Technologies. While we will not be using their services, we will not hesitate in recommending them to friends and family.

We contacted several companies through Angies List to help with fixing our basement. A ground water leak occured in the basement, and went undetected for at least a couple of weeks. It turned out that the seal around the water pipe coming from the main through the basement wall had deteriorated over time, allowing ground water to seep through. During the course of the estimates, evidence was uncovered of a (previously unreported) leak in a different location in the basement. Ultimately we went with Basement Technologies, because they were the most reasonably priced and offered the most comprehensive solution to our problems. The workers were prompt and very efficient. There were no hidden fees or surprises, and the entire project was completed in a day. We waited for about a year before writing a review in order to see how well the fixes would work. There were two instances where water seeped past the installed drains and onto the basement floor after some very bad storms. In each case, when I called Basement Technologies, an assessor came out to my house within a day and the issues were addressed and resolved with no additional charge. When this company says they guarantee their work, they really mean it! They are a small company, but the quallity of their work is outstanding.

They called us within 24 hours. We had lots of rain in our area and they weren't going to be able to get to our home as quickly as we hoped. Because they were busy due to the rain, they asked us to send them a picture of our issue. They gave us some things to do to trouble shoot. We were able to fix the problem successfully based on their advice. They are very honest in terms on whether it was something we could fix ourselves or something they needed to fix. It saved us a lot of money and we appreciate that.

I just recently lost my husband was not expecting the price that I received. I just can't afford that. So when I called back to Basement Technologies, they suggested that I contact you and explain to you that we didn't connect and that you would refund my monies already paid thanks for listening Sincerely, P.W.

We had some water problems in the basement and two or three companies quoted us if we wanted to take out the basement and spend thousands of dollars. Basement Technologies came out and said that our problem was that there was a gap between our front steps and the exterior wall of the house. They told us that all we needed to do was to get some waterproofing caulk and fill in the gap and that would solve our problem. It was a total of $4; thanks to their honesty. We were also able to reproduce the leak. They asked me to get a garden hose and spray into the crack and it reproduced the leak. We went to a home improvement store and bought a five-dollar waterproof foam. We haven't had problems since. They were honest and helped us avoid spending $30,000.

i can't say enough good things about Basement Technologies. I bought my house in December 2012 and every time there was a major rainfall, I had 2-3 inches of standing water in the basement. Since the work was completed by Basement Technologies in December 2013, we have had a number of periods of significant rainfall in DC. Basement has been 100% dry every time. Pricing: A+ I received 8 different estimates from various providers. The range of work recommended and the prices quoted were all over the map. Basement Technologies was very competitive on price. Timing: A+ Work was scheduled and completed quickly. Team was professional and efficient. Quality of work: A+ My basement is now 100% dry, which is what really matters. The original scope of work for the basement had the drain running along all exterior walls. On the day of the work, they decided that one of the runs to the sump pump was a little too long, so they dug and installed an additional stretch of drain at no cost to me. I was impressed at the attention to detail and the commitment to get things done right the first time. It gives me confidence that Basement Technologies will stand behind the work they do. I used to worry every time rain was in the forecast, but Basement Technologies has given me peace of mind. I absolutely love this provider. Just a wonderful, professional, family-run business. Without needing to, they went above and beyond to help a stranger. I can't imagine that they would do anything less for a customer with serious water issues (my problems are likely from shifting, not water). If you are reading this review, you should give these guys a chance to at least provide an estimate. I am sure you fill also find them professional and easy to work with.
