Pearl Pools sent a postcard to my house. I chose them because their address was a mile from my house - so close, that I thought I would see them every day, as they drove by. I signed a 3 page contract with them to do the pool opening, and included 2 visits: one to remove the cover and one to do the water chemistry, etc. The day they opened it was pouring rain. I told them they didn't have to work that day if the rain was in their way. The workers insisted the rain was not a problem - then why did they leave half the work unfinished? Most importantly, after taking off the cover, they needed to screw the bolts that were holding the pool cover down so they would be flush with the patio. But that wasn't done. and it's an extremely high risk of people tripping and cutting their feet on these screws. They didn't do the backwash, when they left the water was still opaque. I called them to tell them to come back out, and they said they wouldn't come back out unless I paid them again (in addition to the $500) which should have covered the backwash, etc. I'm writing this review, because they haven't been returning my calls or answering my e-mails. Maybe this will do the trick.

Crew arrived on time and proceeded to try to locate the leak in the water lines to my pool, jack hammering four large holes in the concrete arround my pool. They finally found the leak in the dirt outside of the concrete apron to my pool. They fixed that pipe but announced that this is not the only leak, since the pressure has not returned to the lines. They left, and I still have four large and dangerous holes in the perimeter of my pool. They said the owner of the firm would come to my house the next day to survey the project. He did just that, announcing that my choices were for them the continue to search for additional leaks or to run a bypass line. The bypass line seemed the most logical and cost-effective of the options, so I asked for a price for that project, and was told it would be a few dollars shy of $3,000. I asked for a better price since that seem high for a job that didn't involve that much piping and concrete removal. The owner left without offering me any price adjustment. The next week I got a bill for $600 for the work done to date. I called other pool repair firms and was astounded to get a proposal for $8,050 from Millennium Pool Service for the same work. Eventually, I got a proposal from Jim Walsh of JW Construction for $1,591 to remove the concrete and run a bypass line from my filter my pool, and that seemed reasonable to me, so I hired him. It is astounding to me that the quotes for this job can run from less than $1,600 to more than $8,000! Based on this excperience, I think the price for this type of work is not based on time and material but on what the esitmator believes the pool owner can afford.

From the initial estimate to the completion of the job, everything went very smoothly, and according to plan.On their initial visit, the estimators came with brochures filled with all of the possible choices for the different surfaces, and tile, and coping maetrials. They discussed different price points, pros and cons and also gave their expert opinions on what they thought would work well for our pool. I appreciated the time that they spent with me, and how promptly they sent out their estimate after our meeting. The workmen came when they were scheduled to, and were very professional and efficient. Everyone I spoke with at ATS was well informed and helpful, and any questions or concerns that I had were answered and addressed promptly and expertly. The total price was a bit more expensive than two other estimates that I got, but I went with ATS because of their accesiblilty, commitment to excellent workmanship, and great customer service. The work was done a year ago, and we are very pleased. Working with this company was definitely a positive experience!
Description of Work: ATS resurfaced our pool, relaced the coping, and replaced the waterline tiles.

Overall the project went well. I was present during most of the work so was able to answer questions that came up and to give specific instructions. I was also consulted about plaster color before it was applied (I used a medium gray). I was very pleased with the professionalism of all of the people I dealt with, from the estimator to the office manager. And most important of all, the pool looks great! Just know that before you undertake this job you will have to do a LOT of pool maintenance after the pool is refilled, brushing all surfaces twice a day for two weeks, and daily water chemical testing.
Description of Work: Tiles along water line were replaced, bluestone coping stones at pool's edge were removed and reset, pool was drained and prepped for replastering which included numerous large patches of loose places on the pool walls. Pool was replastered by hand using trowels to smooth out finish. They also arranged for delivery of a water truck to fill the pool more quickly when they were done.
