I was going to have windows installed so I wanted to get rid of the hornets nest. They did a fine job but it wasn’t a big deal. They came and sprayed to kill the hornets. The only thing is I had to call them though it was not a big deal. They told me that they would come back but they didn’t call to schedule and follow up and so I had to call them. It wasn’t a major thing to do. It didn’t take them rocket science to get up on the ladder.
Description of Work: I used the service of Ward Pest Control Inc in July as we had a hornets nest.

They do good follow up. Jim Ward is the owner and he is very honest and thorough. He sets an example for how the company is ran.

We would definitely recommend them. They were very responsive and they were willing to work with us. They went above and beyond in terms of customer service and accommodating the customer.
Description of Work: We used Innovative Pest Management to do an evacuation to determine whether there was an ongoing problem or just a fluke because we had seen a rodent. When he determined there wasn't a problem he didn't charge us for the initial visit. I think the cost would he been $250 for a 2 hour evaluation.

We haven't seen any ants since he came to spray. He was very efficient, informative, and professional. When he came for the initial appointment he called to notify me he would be late. We had to re schedule the appointment and he did arrive promptly. I would recommend his services.

Description of Work: Very prompt and courteous. Work done seems fine. Prices seemed fair. Maybe just a bit of an upsell. Not sure I needed the termite traps, but I am trusting them for now. Only minor issue is that the guy came early and I was running late. He tried calling and left a message asking if that was ok. I was unable (in meetings) to respond. He showed up early anyway. I was supposed to be there to let hm in and do work inside house. Because I wasn't, that work is postponed to the next time. Not a major issue, but would have liked to have gotten it all done the first time around. Work performed was laying termite and mouse traps. Sprayed some foam to seal up a screen covering a crawl space that had some holes. Sprayed for stink bugs and other critters.

I have been very disappointed with them. I hired them and had a year’s services with them. One thing I don’t like about them is that, they treat only the exterior of the house and are reluctant about treating pests inside the house. They gave me 2 little notices for their maintenance service, when I was out of the state and sprayed outside the house in my absence, which was relatively ineffective. I will never use them in future.

I am not one to write reviews but I really love this company. I had a sudden infestation of fleas in my house, and initially talked to the representative by phone. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and suggested that I take photos of the bugs and email them to him, and he would have their entomologists (!) identify the pest and recommend a course of treatment. Once "cat fleas" were identified, he clearly explained the treatment options and didn't pressure me to select any course of treatment. I opted to go with a one time treatment, because I don't have any pets that bring fleas into the house, and scheduled a visit by the exterminator. The exterminator came when scheduled and, again, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We sat down and he explained the treatment, how fleas live and reproduce, and what to expect. I trusted him enough to get him started treating my home and left for work, after giving him instructions on how to lock up the house when he was finished. I really don't think that you should shop solely based on price when dealing with home pests, but look for quality, knowledge, trustworthiness, local ownership and management, and a fair price--all of which this company offers. Bravo!

When I called Triple S and advised we had big bumblebees around the deck, the admin assistant who answered my call asked me several questions and explained that they were likely carpenter bees (they were!) and she had our exterminator make a special trip to our home to spray. They have always been willing to explain what they are doing, and why it is necessary.
Description of Work: We have used Triple S for both pest control and termite inspection since moving into our home 8 years ago; and we couldn't be more pleased with the service. Our pest control contract covers monthly visits from the exterminator (we have had the same one for our entire contract). Barry sprays for pests, sets ant bait, and checks to see if there are any new/unusual problems. Either Barry explains what he is doing each visit or he leaves a detailed receipt, explaining exactly what he did or what he found. This month, he was kind enough to note that he had killed a black widow spider next to the foundation. Good to know. since our yard is often where the neighborhood gather to play. Our termite inspector has been friendly, professional, knowledgeable and very helpful each and every time he has visited. He has shown us what termite damage looks like, what we should look for and how we can take precautions. He even takes a moment at the beginning of every visit to allow our dog to "check him out" and get comfortable with him. We love that he does that, because then our she doesn't bark at him the entire time he is here (although she does follow him around the house!). The Triple S office staff has been friendly, helpful and they have easily answered any questions I have had each time I have called them. I have nothing but good things to say about this company.

It worked out very very well. They did solve my problem that I had and I was very greatful for. They have already completed two of their three visit. They are very helpful and they answered all of my questions. They even went through the house to see if they found anything I hadn't.

I had a Hornet invasion inside my house which is a very scary experience. Considering the gravity of the situation, Jim the owner came personally and delt with the issue professionally and promptly. The price was fair while the big pest control agencies with the tv ads in my opinion didn't have a competetive price point. I know for other issues in my house, I'll call them again.
Description of Work: Removal of multitudes of Hornets inside my house. Hornets ate through the dry wall and entered my house. The dangerous Hornets were eleminated. Further preventive measures were put in place by Ward. My dry wall wasn't repaired by Ward. It wasn't part of deal.

Mr. Ward came to give us a quote. He was punctual and very professional. He gave us a very competitive quote and he seemed very knowledgable. The technician and his helper came on time. We had some difficulty with the water supply so they were able to get the water from our neighbor and performed the work. There were traces of their work surrounding the house and the corresponding patches to the cement and the deck wood. Looked like they took considerable amount of time to do their work. Very happy with the price and their work. Recommend them to others.

I am writing because I am incredibly frustrated with a company who I have been loyal to for many years. I bought my house in 2007 and enlisted Ward to keep the bugs at bay (as my sister had used them for many years before 2007). Their technicians are very good at what they do. Gentlemen like Joe, show up on time (even early) and address all my concerns. Unfortunately, there has been many, many occasions when other technicians simply do not show up any where near the time they are scheduled to arrive. Today was a perfect example. Ward had scheduled Joe to show up at my house at 7am. Unfortunately, Joe could not make it for medical reasons and they decided to send someone else. Despite assurances that that individual would arrive at my house by 7:30, at 8:05 no one was there. Mind you I was supposed to be at work by 8am. When I called the office I learned the replacement technician had not picked up his equipment from the office yet. When the receptionist told me he was "on his way" I was incredibly agitated. How much longer was I going to have to wait for someone that was scheduled to arrive at 7:30???? Moreover, this person had to go to the office and THEN come to my house. "On his way" was at best another 30 minutes. After I insisted, they agreed to reschedule the appointment for this evening. We get annual treatments by Ward but this service call is in regard to Moths in the closet. I have not been able to use a single closet in my house in over a week. I cannot put my clothes back into an untreated closet. This type of delay is more than simply inconvenient when its outside the realm of annual treatments. I enlist their help to take care of these problems promptly and I cannot keep missing work to stay home and wait for a service I pay for!!! UPDATE: I just wanted to update my report in all fairness to Ward. I spoke to someone named Scott in the main office yesterday. Unlike several others I have spoken to, Scott was very responsive, very professional and swift. He took the time to find out what had happened that morning, what the larger issue was, and to correct the problem the best he could. Someone arrived at my house in the evening (all be it a little late) and treated the house for moths. Although I had to remind the technician what needed to be done and how, he was professional and thorough. Thanks Scott. It is people like Scott and Joe that keep me with this company despite its repeated scheduling issues.

I called the company and initially had some difficulty getting through, my call was eventually answered by a phone service. My initial concern was quickly diminished as a representative from the company called me fairly soon thereafter. The gentleman was professional and personable, he arranged an appointment for the following week. As scheduled, the representative arrived at our house perfectly on time. He introduced himself and took a moment to ask me a few questions, in order to perform the most appropriate investigation. He was thorough in his work and approachable when I had multiple questions. I found the whole experience to be highly professional.
Description of Work: Performed home assessment for bed bugs using their scent detecting dog. No infestation found. Dog and handler completed a full house review and then also the handler patiently answered my various questions.

The inspector, Drew, was on time, right in the middle of the scheduled window. He quickly assessed that the damage I feared was not an active infestation, but continued to to look for other damage. He found none, and gave a referral on a contractor to repair the bay window. I offered to pay for his time taken to inspect the house, but he declined and said to just keep them in the rolodex. I will definitely call them whenever I have any pest-related problems or maintenance.
Description of Work: I had called to have a bay window inspected for possible termite damage. (A hole had developed in the plaster, and revealed a large amount of dust and powder.)

They called me again to reschedule, but since I needed the job done urgently I had to look for another company.
Description of Work: They sent someone to give a quote and do the job. Price was fine, but he said that could not do the work because he had run out of materials and that someone would call me to schedule the service. Service was scheduled after 5 days --even though I said that I needed the service to be done urgently. On the day of the service, they called me and canceled with no explanation. I found this very unprofessional.

I used this company to provide my townhouse with preventative termite treatment during the summer of 2010 - click on the "View All Reports by this Member" button on your screen to see my review of (and issues with) this company. In late May or early June (a year later, summer 2011), I received a postcard from Ward Pest with a date already scheduled for my annual termite inspection. The date chosen by the company didn't work for me, so I called to reschedule. They got the rescheduled date wrong so one of their guys came by but I wasn't home. Without asking me, the company again selected a date for me without asking me first - I again couldn't make the company's chosen date and had to reschedule. This whole pattern got repeated a third time. By this time, I was getting annoyed that they were just selecting dates for me without first checking to see if those dates worked for me. I canceled the third selected date and didn't bother to reschedule as I was getting annoyed, but then I started getting multiple voicemails to reschedule. I'm flattered that the company wanted my business that badly but it was all becoming a bit pushy. I finally called to ask them to stop it all and to stop it completely, that I'd be going with a different pest control company. I called a completely different company today (August 30, 2011) regarding a completely unrelated matter regarding my front door and storm door. The lady taking down my information said she knew me, that she knew my name and had talked to me as she used to work at Ward Pest Control - she was a little snippy about it. I didn't even know how to respond to that ... she clearly wasn't looking for conversation. Just an odd collection of experiences with Ward Pest Control. Will not be using them or recommending them. August 7, 2012 - What is frustrating about the company's response below is they did not get the point in either case: First, it was frustrating that they kept sending me appointment cards that already had pre-set dates, dates that did not work for my schedule. I had to call them to cancel that pre-set date and reschedule but when I did reschedule, they still came on the wrong date. Secondly, my complaint about Chris was how he handled the badly stuck drill on my front stoop (whispering to Ernie "Don't answer that") when I asked them a question. Moreover, Chris should have asked me FIRST if I preferred the holes to be drilled through the stone slabs or in between the slabs. He had already drilled all the holes when he asked me. Fortunately, he guessed correctly (i.e., drilling in between the slabs) but why not ask the customer first before just doing it and then later saying "That's what I thought you'd want so that's what we did." Don't blame Ernie - as far as I saw, he was doing all the hard physical labor trying to get that stuck drill out of my front stoop.

Member, Thank you for your comments. We would like to dispel the notion that Ward Pest Control purposely chooses appointments without consulting our customers. Our scheduling system functions like most other offices/companies that have reoccurring advance appointments, such as dentists, doctors, heating and air-conditioning, lawn services, etc. We suggest dates and times and ask for confirmation. What we offer is not set in stone. If a suggested date and time is inconvenient for a customer we reschedule. Often times this is accomplished through messages left on voicemail. There is no question that we are more than happy to accommodate our customers’ schedules as best we can. In regards to your posting for May 1, 2010, our technician, Chris, is trained and certified to treat for termites, Ernie is not (meaning he is not qualified to treat or answer questions regarding termites) and was there to help Chris with the treatment. Ward Pest Control is known to be an honest and caring company, therefore when technicians have to make a decision that may affect your property, they think in the best interest of the customer. That is why Chris drilled between the stones and not threw them. Chris was obligated to keep you informed. Thank you, Ward Pest Control

Amazing customer service! You could not hire a more professional pest control company than American Pest. We recently moved into a newly built home and have had more than a few pest control companies stop by and try to scare us into doing business. Ironically, we soon found ourselves truly in need of a pest control professional. I had recently read a few articles about Washington, DC being in the top 10 cities with bed bug infestations, argh! Upon returning from travel, we started noticing some bug bites. Because we were unable to determine when we acquired some of the bites, I was fearful that we had bed bugs in our new home. Without getting into the complete drama of our family’s story, we ended up contacting American Pest. They were calm, when I was not. I spoke with several people in the company and every contact with the company (and there were many levels that I spoke with, including the COO and head Entomologist) was a pleasant experience. Times are tight, business is business and everyone needs to feed their families, but I never felt pressured and they never gave me the hard sell. American Pest scheduled a visit with one of their K9 teams, Shane Lindsay and Trakker (an adorable yellow lab). Shane, a former Marine trained as an elite dog handler working with explosives, was the consummate professional. Shane showed up promptly and clearly explained the process prior to conducting the search of our home. It was clear that Shane knew his dog well and could read every nuance of his behavior. After the Dog/Handler search was complete, Shane did a thorough visual inspection of our home. Had Shane and Trakker found bed bugs, American Pest had explained their tool chest of bed bug fighting options to remediate the issue. However, as it turned out, we did not have bed bugs. Prior to leaving, Shane gave me some bed bug advice. He suggested that we stay vigilant and invest in some bed bug specific mattress and box spring covers for all the beds in our home. If you’re in need of a Pest Control services and appreciate some good old fashion customer service, call American Pest.

When I called Ward's, they set me up with an appointment for later on that week. They also gave me a 1/2-hour window to expect the exterminator to come, which seemed narrow. However, the exterminator showed up right inside that window. I showed him the issue and he explained to me what he was going to do. He spent the next ten minutes spraying outside of the house and, when he finished, gave me some tips for preventing future problems. The fee was paid on the spot.

I should point out that they $79 price was discounted per Groupon (regular price is $189). I submitted the request online and within 1 or 2 days, someone called to set up the service in a week. They confirmed the appointment the day before and the technician called the day of the appointment to give a firm time. He appeared knowledgeable and was courteous and efficient. We saw an immediate reduction in the number of insects inside the house and even observed dead stink bugs outside the house. We still have some bugs in the upstairs of our house, so I wish that I had requested that he treat the attic.
Description of Work: The technician asked what our concerns were, did an inspection, and sprayed the perimeter of the exterior with a general pesticide per our request because we have small children.

I've been using American Pest for about two years, ever since my next door neighbor found a rat in his dog's bowl, and I then found mice evidence when the house on the other side of mine was being renovated. Since then they come every two months to check traps and look for evidence. They are always professional, on time, and unfailing in their diligence in looking for evidence of vermin.
