I was really disappointed with my experience with Ward, especially since they're rated so highly on Angie's list.I booked an appointment for 7/7/2012. I was having problems with fleas and had booked Ward to come out and take a look with the understanding from the phone call that it was something that if I was ok with the price they could treat for the same day. The person who came out was Ray. The appointment was for 11-11:30 and he showed up half an hour early - I don't recall if he called before he showed or if he just arrived early, but I wasn't happy with him showing up so much earlier than scheduled. He told me that he's always early - well, on a Saturday morning, I'm not so down with that. I had him look around; he found some fleas behind my bed/confirmed the problem. When I asked him what the price would be / what would be done, we had issues; he asked if I was an angie's list customer, I said yes, and then he said that normally the price was $1000 but for an Angie's list customer it would be $495. When I asked him why the high price he said he'd need a helper and three hours, and that I would have to prepare my house / he'd have to come back. He wanted to spray every inch of my floor and my furniture. The prep he told me I'd have to do was the prep I would have to do for bedbugs (clean everything and put it in boxes, cover my bed, vaccum everything, etc). The treatment methodology he wanted to use was the same methodology commonly used to deal with bedbugs; I'm familiar with it because I've had to deal with them in other homes. He wanted to use the same chemicals I've used to deal with bedbugs, sterifab and bedlam and dicatimous dust in the wall sockets. I asked him why he wanted to use so much in terms of chemicals, and he said it was because he wouldn't have to come back. I asked him where he'd be spraying/treating and he said the downstairs couch and the downstairs bedroom -- he didn't want to treat upstairs where the animals also go, just to heavily treat two areas of my home. This is, again, consistent with the treatment for bedbugs (you treat where the blood is, you don't treat everywhere) but not consistent with my experiences so far with flea treatment (which I've had done before as well, the common methodology is spraying the baseboards with a pesticide and the couches with sterifab and throwing the linens in the dryer for half a hour.) I asked him for a sheet detailing the methodology he was requesting I use to prepare my home and he didn't have one and told me to call the office. Initially he told me that I'd have to take my animals out of my home for 24 hours, which just isn't possible for me. He wanted to use a pesticide on my couches. When I told him no, he said he'd use denatured alcohol. I pushed him on the price because it was so out of line, and he stood behind it. I told him it was laughable, and that it was not happening - the price was way out of line, the methodology was out of line with the problem and not consistent with my approach to pest management (minimal pesticides). He wrote 'thank you' on his note and left. The office called me last monday and asked if I would be purchasing their services. I told the woman who called that I would not be, and that I actually had some complaints (the above.) She had the office manager call me back, who defended what Ray had said around how he should treat my home and the price. I told her that what she was telling me he'd told her were lies (they were) -- we got to the point where she said that the price had gone from $1000 to $495 because I'd said I only wanted the upstairs couch treated and the downstairs couch/bedroom, instead of the entire house. I asked her how many floors my house was - she didn't know, and when I told her two and that he'd told me that price was just for the downstairs, she apologized profusely. I don't know if I just got a bad egg or if this is an endemic problem with Ward. I would be really careful about contracting with them and definitely get several bids if you do decide to consider them. I went with Affordable Pest and have been thrilled with their service. They have come out twice (pretty standard) for fleas. They used IC2, which is plant oil based and not toxic to me or my pets. They've done a great job, been on time, no attitude. And the price for them coming out twice was $99 - I was happy enough that I've gotten their service contract and intend to use them throughout the year.

Our condo association contracted this company earlier this year and they missed more appointments than they kept. While they offered a reasonable monthly rate, the amount of time that was wasted with homeowners staying home from work to have their units treated ended up making the service very expensive and frustrating.

We have been very pleased with Ward. They took care of our mouse problem in a couple of visits and have also sprayed for ants. We will also get a termite warranty. Donna is very nice on the phone, and Joe was super helpful in explaining our pest issues. Juan was more of a strong and silent type, but he was very competent and helpful also.

They're very clean, kind, quick, and on time. They did a good job.

I had them out to do the termite inspection as someone bought the house and it needed to be done before it was transferred to see if there was any termite damage. I like them. When I called, they were responsive and they came quickly. I didn't have to wait. I called ahead and they came. I think they had their own set of keys, so I didn't have to meet there. They just went and did the inspection for me. The people seemed very nice, professional and efficient.

Ward Pest only come to the house for the annual inspection.

Technician first asked what the most common issues were, then inspected thos areas I was concerned about. He did a thorough under, over and behind inspection of each crack and crevice. Most of my pest issues are ants in the kitchen. He then described in detail what he was going to do and made sure that each treatment was going to meet my needs and be safe for the pets in the house.He used live baits in areas where regular pets couldn't reach, sprayed and baited the outdoors where the ants where most prevalent. Also placed in termite monitors and traps for vermin as a preventative measure.I was very pleased with the service. The technician was very professional, very knowledgeable, very patient. 200 is a huge chunk of money, but for now it appears to be money well spent.

I should say though, that even before they came, once I purchased the service, they contacted me via email immediately and I was given and encouraged to ask any, and I mean any question I wanted. They were respective and thorough in their responses at all times. Therefore, when their field staff did show up, I had all my questions answered and knew what to expect.

I'm done with Wards. They are discourteous and rude and never show up when scheduled.

Ward Pest Control did a nice job of assessing the situation and presenting a couple of options. They did a nice job with the extermination only requiring them to come out once.

They did a good job, concentrated on the issue at hand. They briefly told me of the other services they offer, but didn't try to sign me up, which was refreshing.

The price is a little high for a couple of minutes of treatment with some solution, but it seems to be working okay. I have seen some carpenter bees in the area, but I'm not sure if they are from our townhouse anymore or not. I was a little disappointed in the fact that they wouldnt clean off the soffit which was covered in carpenter bee waste, even when I offered to pay more (I don't have a ladder that tall) but they refused. I was cited a ticket and fined by my HOA the very next week because of the waste on the soffit left by the carpenter bees. I wish they could have cut me a break by cleaning it off but oh well. I strongly believe that if they are going to do pest extermination, they should clean up after the pests because their chemicals are all over the area and I don't want to drag that into my house. Just my personal opinion...

They give very good service. They are very thorough and professional.

Ward determined that we had a termite problem. I requested a "green" treatment, and they provided a detailed estimate along with brochures, information, and MSDS about the "greener" product (DuPont Altriset Termiticide) that they suggested. Work is scheduled to begin in 10 days.

They do a good job and have reasonable prices.

They were definitely responsive, but I realized that the diagnosis they did didn't seem confident to get rid of what we have. We had bed bugs problem in our house, and I asked them to confirm that, and they said that we surely have. Eventually we had some people who were trained and they didn't find any bed bugs. We even double checked and we didn't have a problem again. So instead of spending almost $5000 and getting the bed bugs out of the house, we did the best thing by spending $100 on two time inspection.

The report from the HI was just vague enough to make the buyer nervous. Ben looked high and low and could find only one small split in one floor board and could find no evidence of active termites or even of old damage of same. It may even have been damage in the floor board before it was installed - long gone. I was very pleased with the report but more importantly I feel confident we have done everything we can to assure the buyer of a solid house.

Ward Pest Control Inc did an excellent job. We really liked them. They were very easy to deal with. They came out and did everything that they promised to do. We've got them for the next three years to monitor us. What we liked about them was that they gave us a set price for the next three years. They won't charge us any extra fee for each traditional year. They gave triple the guarantee and they used Termador which is a top of the line treatment. I was impressed that I got a better price through Ward who gives a better price and a better warranty. It is a win-win situation for the homeowner. The only way I would have found them was through Angie's List. I had called six other companies whose service offers I wasn't very impressed with. Ward Pest Control did a fantastic job.

The experience has been fine. They always email a day before they are coming. Generally, they seem professional and timely.

They have the problem under better control. They have some very good people working for them. We did have an employee come that we really liked but he was re assigned to a different account. Overall, they have all been knowledgeable and competent. We are pleased with the service and hopefully they can continue to get the problem under control.

So far, the experience has been good. I would recommend their services. They have a nice company and good employees.

They will come in about a day or two in between services if we have any problems for no additional charge.

I felt like they were reasonably priced and they were also really professional. They showed genuine concern and really cared that they removed the pests for us. It was a really good experience and in the end they removed all the pests.

It was a preventative treatment. I thought their price was fair.
