Despite my disappointment that I was unable to get a next day appointment (I'd seen a mouse in my home, and wanted it resolved as quickly as possible), the initial inspection went extremely well. The service provider was very happy to explain to me the steps that he was taking as he went along. He conducted a thorough inspection and sealed up areas he believed were the source of our mouse problem. This included exterior and interior spaces. Additionally, he told us about what to expect over the next few weeks, and gave us a clear indication of what circumstances should warrant a follow up full inspection/re-evaluation. Liekwise, the initial maintenance visit went as expected. I did not receive the notification from American Pest, as I was told that I would, but I was at home when the agent arrived. Again, I felt they did a good job, and, since I was able to give them access inside, I was comfortable that all bases had been covered adequately. The reason that the company was not scored higher is that I have had two additional maintence visits. Consistently, I am not receiving notification that my home will be serviced prior to their arrival, as their agreement states. The most recent visit, my husband was home, but upstairs in our home, based on the time reported on their invoice. He had no idea that a visit had taken place until he was leaving for work. Again, had I completed this after only the inital assessment and treatment, I would have likely given A's across the board. However, their maintenance leaves something to be desired. (That said, after reading numerous reviews online regarding a few different pest management providers in my area, it seems to be how they operate as an industry.)
Description of Work: Provided an initial inspection for mice/rodents and provides bi-monthly maintenance for pest control. The maintenance portion includes re-baiting outdoor bait stations, replacing any sprung traps for mice. ALSO includes application of pesticides outside of the home. The maintenance contract includes additional visits for any concerns that we have with pest populations.

Personnel are very pleasant and professional. They cover their shoes with disposable booties so they don't dirty up the floors or carpets (I appreciate this consideration). Always ring the bell to let you know they are here and ask if we have any particular concerns for them to address. Once or twice we have had an ant problem and they came out immediately and took care of it. We are pleased with the service.

I scheduled a service call to address our problem with carpenter bees in a wooden pergola, 6 feet above the ground. The office was great and called and confirmed the appointment and said no one needed to be there. They had all the details and it was a straightforward job. I did happen to arrive home when the technician was there. He was walking all around the house clearly befuddled as to what he was supposed to do. He said the office hadn't told him anything. I showed him the pergola on the back of the house and he shook his head. He said that he didn't have a ladder tall enough and that it would be an up charge because of the height. He said the job would be at least $300 maybe more and that he'd have to reschedule. I was annoyed because this wasn't at all what the office stated in terms of the job. I am 5'3" and I can reach the pergola with a six foot step ladder. I asked him to leave. The office called me immediately and apologized for the technician not having the right caulk. I told them we never even discussed caulk and gave them the full account. They said they would send someone else out. Unfortunately they couldn't get anyone out for a few days. When the guys came they were nice and polite and agreed the service would only be $100. They were not however ready to do the service and said the office would call me to schedule. The office finally called a week ago. It is mid July. Yes, I could have called them sooner but I've decided I don't want to work this hard to spend money with a company. I am also very skeptical of them if one technician could quote such an over charge on a job.

I loved this company from the first telephone call to them. They called me back right away, were polite, friendly and informative, interested in my problem -- obviously wanted to help. I had a nest of ground bees or yellow jackets in my back yard that had attacked. I had looked and looked for someone who had experience with and was ready to get rid of these pests. There was no hesitation, no long waits for an appointment, no beating around the bush, no inflated prices. and no sales pressure of any kind for comprehensive packages, etc. The provider was just the nicest man. He asked me all the right questions about my preferences to protect plantings etc., He put on professional gear and went right to work, avoiding harming my young Redbud tree and Hosta, nearby. As far as I can tell, those bees/yellow jackets are history, but should they return, Ward Pest Control will come back at no extra cost and treat again. I would recommend this company to everyone. The total experience including talking with the office manager was superb! I will call them with any "pest" problems I have in the future. They are the rare combination of professionalism and compassion. My only regret is that they don't provide services other than pest control -- these are people that I liked, felt trustworthy and would call with other kinds of home maintenance needs.
Description of Work: My hero -- He came on time, prepared, had an estimate quickly, and gave me a fair price to exterminate a nest of very aggressive ground bees/yellow jackets. I didn't have to sign long contracts with many exclusions, and wait for another appointment. I said yes, and he did the work immediately. He checked the premises for stinging insects, in case there was more than one nest, had good suggestions, performed the job with dispatch and guaranteed their work.

After being quoted $1,400 one time and $250 annually for termite control, they were able to diagnose the problem over the phone as a temporary swarm of flying ants, not termites saving me the large expense. They could easily have given me an estimate supporting the earlier estimate.

We signed up for the premium plan. For years we have had issues with mice and started using American Pest control earlier this year. They come on time and their customer service team is excellent. More recently the city decided to do some repairs on our street which resulted in the road being dug up and various man holes left open for days at a time. Soon after we started having issues with sewer rats (YUK). Had to contact both the city Rat Control prgoram (should be eradication) and also the American Pest team. They have had to come almost every other week to address this problem, and because we pay a monthly fee they come out whenever the problem persists. Thus far the service has been great and if we have any issues we can email them and someone replies with an email and/or call. I would definitely recommend them and will continue to use their services. For those that are into the environment etc, they do not use poison.

I was extremely pleased with how fast they could get me on the schedule (the next day). They actually scheduled me for a reasonable block of time as well, 4 to 4:30 pm. However at 4:30 pm, I hadn't seen anyone nor had they called. When I called their main number, the lady paused for a moment (as if reading notes) and then said that the individual had called her to let the company know he was running late. However, the company had failed to call me and let me know. The exterminator himself was a very nice younger guy. However, it became quickly apparent that the individual who took my call had not given this employee the right information. They knew I located them through Angie's List, but that was about it. I'd requested service in the kitchen to attack a certain problem (ants), but they sent him out to do a whole spray, inside and out. He quickly shifted gears. He was able to locate where they were coming from quickly and devised a plan. However, some of his equipment was malfunctioning, leaving a mess in my kitchen. The ant problem was solved & we haven't seen any since. When it came time to pay, he didn't know what to do since he was told to charge me $110. I wasn't about to pay $110 for a much smaller service that would've taken 15 minutes had his equipment functioned properly. I suggested that he call the company to see how much he should charge if he didn't know. He dropped the price about $25, but I no longer had time to debate with him since now I was behind schedule (due to him being behind schedule & taking a while due to the equipment issue). Overall, very friendly folks. Just issues with overcharging and communication.

Another service charged more and we still had rats. Wards came and in two trips sealed all roof entries. Rat finally got hungry enough to get caught in the trap. I thought the second visit was an additional cost, but Wards returned my check.

I had a roach problem and Ward Pest Control came and did a thorough investigation to find where they were, and put bait and onther products in the right places. They also reviewed all potential issues with me (e.g. food spill behind the range) and cleaned up everything. A few weeks later now, I don't see any roach anymore. I had this problem for a long time and had other exterminators come, but none took the comprehensive approach Ward did. They solve my problem.In addition, they not only gave me a small time window for their visit (rather than the usual 4 hours!), but were punctual and very freindly and professional.

Service was prompt and professional, although expensive. We'd had problems with bed bugs before, and used less expensive chemical only treatments, but they came back after being bug free for 6 months. That's why we opted to spend the much higher dollars for the thermal treatment. We had an independent K9 inspection service come in last week, 2 months after the treatment to make sure we were still bed bug free. They couldn't detect any bugs or live eggs. As best we can tell, American Pest did a good job and were successful in ridding our home of bed bugs. Due to the latency of the eggs, we won't know for sure for another year.
Description of Work: Did K9 inspection to locate all bed bugs in home. Did thermal and chemical remediation. Returned 14 days later to do K9 inspection to check all bed bugs were gone.

It has been several years since our home was professionally inspected for termites. On the recommendation of a friend, I had contacted another contractor before turning to Angie's List after three missed appointments. I saw that Ward Pest Control was very highly rated so I scheduled an appointment. Ricardo arrived on time and performed a very thorough inspection inside and out, including our unfinished basement and the attached garage. He explained what he was looking for and, in general, educated me on the subject of termites. He found no indications of termites and there was no charge. I am glad that I called Wards.

Everyone I spoke to at Ward Pest Control was incredibly professional. My original appointment was for 5pm, but the company had a few cancellations and wanted to meet me earlier in the afternoon. This worked out well for me, and the technician arrived exactly when they told me he'd be there. Quincy was great, clearly knowledgable and very kind. He located a few trouble spots where mice might be entering the home but didn't think we had a full-on infestation. We talked about my options for pest treatment, but there was absolutely no high-pressure sales pitch or attempts to upsell me unnecessary services. I was so impressed with this level of integrity and service, I immediately wanted to recommend them to others. I'd definitely call them in the future if I have the need.
Description of Work: Ward Pest Control promptly booked me an evaluation for a suspected rodent invasion (my cat has caught three mice this spring). The guy who came was originly from India, where they have bedbugs and really seemed like he knew what he was doing. I would definitely use them again. It wasnt' cheap - $500 for the treatment, but no other company would even take the job!

This was a godsend. The technician came out for the yearly inspection and got into the crawl space to check for termites... Everything was fine, except he noted a pin hole leaks in one of the copper pipes situated in a very difficult location of the crawl space area. I just had it repaired by Leahy plumbing and if it were not for the Ward technician, the water damage could have gone on until a serious problem happened. I am most grateful that the technician was so conscientious in his work that he discovered the other problem.

We have been customers of American Pest for little over 1 year. We originally found them on Angie's List and signed up for a special they were running. Our experience last year was mixed. While they always showed up on time and were responsive to our requests, not all the pests were removed. We assumed that this was simply because it's impossible to remove all pests, so we continued with them. This year, our experience has been quite different. We mentioned that we seemed to have a moth infestation. The technician arrived and placed 2 moth traps in a closet. When we continued to mention that there were moths, we were given another appointment. The technician failed to show. We called to complain and spoke with someone in management. He was quite apologetic and offered to comp us for the scheduled visit as well as for the next visit. We said that this was very kind of him, but we were more interested in having our moths removed. We also mentioned that we have a small infant and pets at home and preparing for a visit was something that required planning. He told us he understood and scheduled a technician visit for Saturday morning. We got prepared (emptying out closets, emptying out furniture, etc) in preparation. Saturday comes and goes, but no technician. An email and a phone call has resulted in no response. Ironically, while we were on hold with the answering service, we hear over and over again how their company is an Angie's List award winner. Shame on you, American Pest. With service like this and a B level score on here, you are certainly not worthy of an award from Angie's List or any other legitimate rating service. 6/24/2013 Update: I think it's important to acknowledge the efforts that American Pest has taken to win back our trust and possibly our business. We did receive a call on Sunday night from the Manager. He was extremely apologetic about the no-show and poor communication. I appreciated the fact that he was straightforward about the situation and didn't try to make excuses. In the end, we agreed to give them another try. Personally, I'm always interested in seeing how a service provider reacts when they make a mistake. I am happy to say that American Pest acknowledged their errors and allowed me to vent my frustration. They made arrangements for a technician visit - who did show up. They also followed up afterwards to gather feedback and gauge our satisfaction. We still have some bugs, but we feel that we are on the way to a satisfied place. I will keep posting updates as appropriate.

We were very impressed with their service. They told us that it wasnt due to termites and explained that it was from beetles, had nothing to do with termites. They also inspected the rest of our house and explained that it had already been treated and showed us where there had been previous termite damage. Explained everything very well to us and did not try to sell us anything. Will definitely use them in the future and highly recommend them to others.

Out of the blue one day, we found swarms of bugs crawling all over our foundation. Further inspection showed that some had made their way into our home and even into our basement. After searching on the internet, we determined they were termites! I found American Pest on AngiesList, saw the A rating, and called them right away- on a Sunday afternoon. I was able to speak to a live person who took down all of my information and told me I would receive a call Monday morning to make an appointment. True to their word, I received a call EARLY Monday and was able to make an appointment for Wednesday (today) at 4 pm. Donald, our technician, showed up on time. He assessed the situation and told us the bugs were actually flying ants. He was super informative and took the time to educate us on the difference between the bugs, why the problem probably erupted, and what preventive steps we could take in the future. We asked him about different options through American Pest and he was able to answer all our questions. I appreciated Donald's willingness to take the time to explain everything, and not charge us a penny! I will definitely be using the preventative measures through American Pest in the future.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They worked fine. It turned out the mice were going under on the back. We have a patio and a stairway, and there's a part of the stairway down that you couldn't really see very well and there's a gap under there where they were able to get in. I don't know whether they come out in the winter, it's always hard to gauge for sure if the mouse issue is resolved but I'm hoping.
Description of Work: We're having a mouse problem so we used Ward Pest Control Inc. They came out twice. The first time they came out they walked on the property, they just gave me some mouse traps but they couldn't find anything. They did actually seal off some areas from my thicket that they thought they might be getting in. The second time they came out, they did find an area with mice.

We got Bed Bugs in early September 2012, and American Pest brought a detection dog in late September to find the bugs. The bugs were scented and found. We used a Heat Treatment in early October. Unfortunately some bugs servived. This sometimes happens even though the Heat Treatment (although the most expensive is the most effective). American Pest stayed with their warranty until 100% of the Bed Bugs were gone! This company is Responsive Responsive Responsive. I was able to speak to the same Customer Service Rep throughout the process, and appointments and follow up visits were easy to schedule - keep in mind they are very busy. The Service Technicians are very good at their jobs and very thorough. The overall cost would have been a little less except I called for additional inspections beyond the extermination. These bugs creep me out. I would use American Pest again in a heartbeat. Other companies offer services and they may be good at extermination, however, I found American Pest to be fantastic.
