Daughter called Ward Pest Control, whom she had used successfully before, to check the "under the sink" area and the basement for mouse droppings which she thought she had seen. She called on the weekend and Ward Pest Control came out the following Monday. I (her Mom) met the inspector. He moved everything out from "under the sink" and didn't find mouse droppings. In the basement he checked the perimeter and the area that is used as a pantry. He found a couple old droppings in a box. Those droppings could have been in the box when daughter brought it in, but the inspector said he could not find any reason to do a treatment. He suggested that daughter keep an eye on that space and call again if she noticed a problem. Inspector did not charge for this visit. I wanted to at least help with a few dollars toward gasoline, but he declined, saying should she have a problem she should call for service.

I have squirrels between floors in my house. I called Ward and scheduled a technician. They called at least 3 times the day of the appointment to change the time of the appointment. The tech arrived and I showed him the point of entry near the second floor of the house. He told me I needed a one way door installed but he didn't have any and then said I would need to call a handyman to remove the piece of siding on the house so that Ward could install the door and that I would need a handyman to repair the hole. I asked him if the company also took care of rats because we had seen them around our trash cans and needed traps installed under the back porch. The tech told me that I could buy my own rat traps. He clearly didn't want to do any work, said he didn't have any equipment to perform the work. Very unprofessional and I am very disappointed especially given the good ratings that this company has on Angie's list. We won't be using them and we will let our neighbors know (who also need help with rodents) not to use them. Also told us that someone from the office would be in touch to schedule the installation of the one way door. No one ever called us back. They did absolutely nothing. The technician just complained about having to come to Montgomery County when he usually services Washington DC. He wouldn't install a one way door. Wouldn't set rat bait traps, suggesting that we do it ourselves. He clearly didn't want to do any work.

I contacted American Pest via their website and quickly received a phone call in response. They provided a quote for bimonthly service; however, I was interested in quarterly service which they weren't able to provide. Communication with them was via phone and email, and they were very prompt and courteous during my interactions. We simply decided to go with another provider who was willing to accommodate our quarterly service request.

These guys are great. I have been using them since I purchased the Deal 3 years ago. They come 3 x a year and I haven't had the annual invasion of ants into my kitchen in the spring in all that time. They also come in between treatments and treat for roaches and carefully prevent rodents too. I had an invasion of mice 2 years ago after some insulation work and window replacement and they came and did not use poisons as I requested. I haven't seen or heard a mouse since. Roaches are totally under control too. I'd like to say they are gone but these bugs may still be lurking in the foundations or something. All I know is they don't bother me. And whatever they use is safe for my pets.

Mr. Ward's inspection revealed that the wood damage was caused by carpenter bees--not by termites. He also discovered signs of mud dauber wasps in the attic. He carefully explained the life cycles of the insects and explained what needed to be done to protect my home from further infestation. I already had contractors lined up to replace all of the damaged wood from the bees. Mr. Ward did not charge for his inspection services. Nonetheless, he was unhurried and thorough in his inspection. Should I ever require pest control services in the future, my first call will be to Ward Pest Control.

These guys could have sold me a bunch of stuff I didn't need. They told me the true, saved us both time and money, and earned my trust. They will be the first ones I call in the future.

Had a tenacious bedbug infestation in two rooms of my apartment. While there were some technical glitches in spraying the rooms (a piece of furniture broke) but the techs were more than helpful in getting things back in order and thoroughly sprayed every nook and cranny in the space.||After one (two part) treatment, there has been no sign of the beasties. I hope I never have the problem again, but would return to Ward if it cropped up.

First the provider tried to upsell services. Then returned to do job as purchased. Promised to return to check work as part of deal purchased, which they never did. Finally, When I called to schedule follow up, the dispatcher was rude and insulting.

Jim Ward from Ward Pest control came out and did a termite inspection for us. He was on time, professional, extremely meticulous, experienced and explained everything that he was doing as he did the inspection. Nothing was rushed and I felt that I had defiantly chosen the right company. Fortunately we come through the inspection without any problems and I will pursue preventative treatment from this company in the near future. We received the inspection report at the end of the inspection and are extremely satisfied with the company and the work product.

They were very professional and thorough. From the initial inspection to the treatment they explained the process, pointed out problem areas and treated the entire perimeter of the house.

We called Ward initially to exterminate a bee hive on the outside of our house. This visit went smoothly, the technician was prompt, and the bee issue was resolved. At that time we signed up for a regular contract service involving bi-monthly visits to treat the whole house for pests, including an ant problem in our master bathroom. Part of this contract service allows you to call for a return visit if there is an issue in between regular calls. One week after the initial whole-house visit I continued to see ants in the bathroom and called to request a return visit. I was told the next available visit would be in two weeks. Although this seemed too long to wait, we were patient and took the appointment. The technician scheduled for the return visit did not show up. When I called the office to complain, no effort was made to send someone promptly. Although the woman scheduling my appointment kept saying "sorry about that", she did nothing to make my home a priority and I was told I'd have to wait another week. At this point we cancelled our contract. This company is not punctual and does not feel any urgency to help its customers, even when they are in the wrong. We have continued to see ants, spiders, and stink bugs in our home since the whole-house treatment. I do not recommend this company.

I have used Ward in the past and find them to be willing to go the extra mile to be helpful with a wide variety of issues. They are professional and responsive and their prices are reasonable. I recommend them highly.

This was a pretty awesome experience. I have never had to deal with pests of any kind before, and when my boyfriend found the first black widow, were were a little concerned but figured it would go away on its own. We were very wrong. In a two to three week time span, we found more than 15. They were mostly outside but the one we did find inside made us know that enough was enough. My boyfriend sprayed with the regular stuff you can find at the store, but we didn't want to take any chances, as we had a dog who could have died from the poison (as well as hurt us pretty bad!) American Pest was responsive and quoted a price almost immediately. They also didn't try to convince me to get a year long contract, which the other places I called pressured me on. I live in a small apartment and they felt it wasn't necessary. When the exterminator came, he was shocked to see the bodies. Apparantly, there are rarely black widows actually found, and normally people just think that a normal spider is one. We were told to call immediately if we found any more alive after this treatment. He sprayed every possible surface that they could get in from as well as all around our outside area so that any nest that might still be hatching could be taken care of. I was able to pay the bill over the phone, instead of sending in a check, also a positive. I will definitely use them again, though I certainly hope I don't have to!

During a home improvement project I found old termite damage. I requested an inspection and prevention solution to prevent additional damage from being able to occur. The team was prompt and inspected the property for active infestations and none were found. They pointed out that a previous owner had the property treated properly and there was no activity required for future prevention at this time.

The price was very reasonable. In fact, I was stunned at the price. It was a lot like what I thought it would be. There was a crack in the foundation floor and the termites came up through the foundation floor so it was in the middle of the basement so they had to pull the carpeting back and they had to drill into the floor to put the insecticide in there. They did a really good job. The owner himself came out to look at the termites and within 24 hours, he had somebody out there to do the service. He's very professional and he's old school. It's his reputation on the line so he really does do an excellent job to make sure that the client is happy. They do not try and sell you any type of plans.

My husband was impressed with the guy that came out. He's professional. He did a good job. We thought they were reasonable. The nest was in a location that was difficult to get to so he couldn't get to it from the inside or the outside without ripping a path so he had to put a lot of insecticide into the area. I called them after midnight because they do 24 hour emergency service so they contacted me back within an hour and the person who I talked to who was on call just told me what to do to keep them contained in one of the bedrooms for the night and they were able to get somebody in in the morning on Friday. They're very prompt. He gave my husband guidelines. The work is guaranteed for 30 days and we haven't seen anything or heard anything in the attic. I got a quality company.

We contacted this company because we've seen an influx, likely because of recent nearby construction, of small rodents both in the front and back of our house. There's no indication they have gotten inside. The first appointment was rescheduled and that worked out fine. The technician arrived on time and discussed alternatives with my husband. He was very professional and they opted for containers of poison which the rodents eat then seek water and die. After two weeks the technician will return. If there is a large amount of the poison gone, he will replace the containers with two new ones. This process will be repeated every two weeks until there is little or no poison gone from the containers.

The first tech who came out and set the traps set a number of them--and pointed out areas where mice could be getting in, used some of our foam sealant to plug a few outdoor places. He was good. The follow-up visit, maybe a month or two later, was basically just two guys taking a look at the traps and resetting a few. I was expecting something more comprehensive. $120 (using a Angie's list deal) seemed like a lot of money to set traps.

I was having a problem with mice soon after I moved to a new home and I was catching them pretty regularly in traps. Ward came and set some traps in my basement and kitchen and filled in some gaps around the house that might be serving as entry points. I haven't seen a mouse since.

I am a busy mom and small business owner. This morning I spent an hour reading reviews on Angie's list before selecting Wards. I contacted them to simply schedule an appointment and was told that someone would give me a call "in a few minutes". An hour and a half later, I am moving on. Wards, you lost our business. But apparently you don't need it. Unprofessional, unreliable organization. Moving on to the next choice on my list.

Not well. Brian came out on 11/19/12 and said they the point of entry of the mice was some worn away cement by the garage door. He said he would be out the following week to fix the cement. No one showed up so the week after that I called the company and explained what Brian said needed to be done. Brian at this point no longer works for the company. They set up an appointment. The second person came out and said he was there for a follow up visit. I explained again that nothing had been done yet. The second person then did a complete inspection and said that the point of entry was through some chewed up venting duct under the sunroom. He spoke with his boss and came back to replace and conceal the flexible duct under the sunroom. We still have an occasional mouse or two so we just keep mouse traps in our basement.

It went really well. He was thorough and took the time to explain everything to me.

Great. He was polite, professional and prompt.. Maybe they could rename from triple S to triple P?

I originally called American Pest because I found termites in our mulch. Ben came out and did a thorough inspection and after getting several bids from other companies, I decided to go with American Pest because of Ben's responsiveness and explanations for service. After Ben installed the baiting system, I was told that someone would come out and check on these baits frequently. I ended up having to call them to get them to come out as no one made a follow-up appointment with me. When the technician finally came out, he was courteous and did a thorough job. Most recently, I called because we found a large bald faced hornet nest in one of our trees and I was told that I had to wait several days for service as they needed to schedule a technician with a ladder. My regularly scheduled service was also overdue as no one had bothered to schedule an appointment so they said that this would happen at the same time. I mentioned that we had crickets in our garage and basement so they told me to stay home so I could let the technician into the house. When the technician arrived, he did not have a ladder or the means to cut down the hornet nest. I had to lend him a ladder and tree trimming tools for him to do his job. I already had to wait several days for service because they told me they had to schedule someone who had a ladder and he didn't even have one! When he finished bagging the hornet nest, he came to my door with a receipt. I asked him if he was going to perform the regular service that was scheduled (and that I stayed home for him to do) and he told me that he wasn't. He said that someone else would do this. Needless to say, this annoyed me as I had to stay home all morning on a Saturday just to not get the service that was promised. I waited almost two weeks for this service to be performed and no one came. They did, however, charge me the $120 for the regular service contract. I had to call AGAIN and just scheduled my service. I am very disappointed with this company and am thinking of canceling my contract.
