I knew we had rodents in the attic; Ben pointed out the evidence that it was mice and set traps. He proposed their continuing service but we don't have any other pest problems, so we just paid for the 1-time service (this visit and a follow up). I felt $199 (after the $50 discount for Angie's List) was a bit high, but it seems like everyone is expensive these days. The traps silenced the mice by the next day, so nice not to hear them constantly gnawing and scratching over our heads.

Very well handled. I spoke with Ben at American Pest and explained to him that we had gotten some clothes back from the dry-cleaners and they stated they found bed bugs. He was skeptical. To be thorough, I asked them to do a home inspection. He was able to reach their canine handler and have her at the house in under an hour (we got lucky! They were finishing up a job in Fairfax City). The dog and the two handlers searched every room in the house, finding nothing. They took the time to explain that what the dry-cleaners probably saw were harmless carpet beetles. I was very happy with the response and professionalism. I'd use American Pest again.

They performed the work well and they did everything they said they would. They were able to get rid of our issue. The came in the afternoon and then had to come back the next day because they needed more supplies since it was a more complicated job than they anticipated. One person was doing the work at both times and scheduling was pretty easy.

set traps for rodents in crawl space of house and remove, rebait as necessary Wards has been very helpful to me in the past, spraying for ants many times at multiple properties. The ladies on the phone was very helpful and took time to explain in detail what their process is for catching animals. I think this animal is a racoon b/c it has a communal feces site. They set a trap. we will watch it daily. they will return to re-bait, reset and remove the animal until an animal is caught. all for $155. When the animal is caught, they will release the animal into a wildlife area, then return the trap to the crawl space for an additional $55. And continue this cycle until they are sure no more animals exist. They will locate the hole through which the rodent entered the crawl space and seal it if it is not very large. if masonry work is required, they will merely inform me of the site of the hole. I called Pest Now for this job and they wanted more than $2000. their service included additional tasks such as isolating the area covering the crawl space "ceiling", walls, and who know what else" with plastic., and treating the area for fleas, lice, etc, I did need or want these services. They would not just trap the animal and remove it. They said this is the process they use to remove rodents and no other. Wardswas very professional, personable, and patient. Their prices are very reasonable I definitely recommend them.and will use them again.

It was an excellent experience! They were very nice. The first gentleman was very nice and put on booties to go through the house. He was very good about explaining things along the way. They did three more treatments after that. Everyone was very explanatory which we appreciated.

Let me start with the fact that I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the detective work done by the exterminator from Ward Pest Control. We were hearing an animal scratching noise above our bed and thought it was in our attic. We had a different estimator who could not find any evidence of an animal in the attic. Then I realized that the last time we had a fire in the fireplace, it was extremely smokey so I told the previous estimator. He thought a raccoon was in the chimney and referred me to an animal trapper. I contacted sevral animal trappers and decided to go with Ward Pest Control to remove the raccoon. When the workman from Ward arrived at my house, he realized that it would be extremely difficult to get to the chimney because it would be hard to get a ladder up there. However, he took a lot of time to study the problem to see if he could somehow make it work and discussed it with his office. Then he decided to look up my chimney to see what was there, something the previous estimator had not done. He also said there would be a lot of fleas in the living room it there was a raccoon in the chimney. He could see clear up to the sky and saw there was no animal in the chimney. He also saw there was a screen on the top of the chimney and then discovered that the damper was broken, the cause of the smokey fire. The workman then began a thoughtful and careful examination of the house. He was a bright, experienced man and used logic to help him figure out the problem. He discovered something the previous estimator had missed. A squirrel was chewing away at one of the window frames in the attic that had a slightly loose screen. The squirrel had done a lot of damage to the window sill, but had not yet gotten in. The solution was to get a new screen to keep the animal out. The workman from Ward had not come prepared to fix a screen because I had told Ward there was an animal in my chimney. and that is what he was prepared to do. He said it could easily be fixed by a handyman. We've done that and the problem is resolved. When I asked the man from Ward what the charge would be, he said $35.00. I was astonished. He was at my house for over three quarters of an hour, found the problem and charged me only $35.00! Had I gone with the previous recommendation to "trap a raccoon" It would have cost me between $200 and $500 for a trapper. We would probably have caught a raccoon since there are raccoons in the neighborhood, but would not have solved the problem, This was an amazingly thoughtful and intelligent workman.
Description of Work: Did an extremely thorough assessment to locate the source of the animal scratching noise we were hearing. We did not know where it was coming from, our attic or chimney. He located the source of the problem, after spending three quarters of an hour and told us how to fix it. Total cost $35.00

I have been using them for over a year. They come as they should. They do a good job of monitoring the pests and setting traps for termites. I have been happy with their service.

The contract went well. I felt they were thorough. If we ever had a problem they would come right out. If we have any future pest issues they would who we go to first.

They do great when they show up but the trouble is getting them to show up.They don't let you know that they aren't showing up, no phone call or notice there and I had to take off work to meet them so I'm loosing money.

I told them the customer is unidentified. Then the office manager got snippy and said, "This is a family owned business and if you prefer to work with someone else (because of the reviews), then you are free to do so". I will do so. I was asking reasonable questions. Totally unprofessional in their responses. I used to own my own business. In my opinion, they don't want or need the business.

On January 12th, [member name removed] initiated his telephone inquiry with "Given two very recent reviews in which Ward received C and F ratings, how do I know that you will even show up for the work if I schedule you." When we asked for more information, thinking recent was in the last week or so, he referred us to review from November 30th and December 5th, reviews we were familiar with. He went on to say that he as a business owner would certainly check his ratings every day, didn't we? We replied that we did not check our ratings every day, that Angie's List inform's us when a new review has come in. Again he asked how he could be sure that we would even show up if he scheduled. His delivery was confrontational and antagonistic. We stated that we were a small family business and that perhaps he would be better served by a larger company with a larger work pool available. We regret that these two reviews out of almost four hundred soured him to our business. These two reviews caused a very strong reaction in [member name removed]. Perhaps he should read more of our reviews, most from satisfied customers who have had good experiences with our firm. He gave us an F review after a single call, where we expressed less knowledge than he thought we should have about a rating site. The reality is that we would like very much to please everyone, but that is not always possible. Still, we try. The technician was very nice, polite, and professional. Upon entering our house, he asked immediately if we had any little children or pets who might be affected by the chemicals of the spray. He informed my husband and me of what he was doing as he went along, asked permission to enter the bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs, and told us how long we could expect for the spray to dry. We had a few questions during the appointment, and he did a good job responding to each one. (Sorry, don't recall what our questions were anymore.) The price for this service was reasonable.
Description of Work: This was the first treatment. The technician sprayed our kitchen for roaches (and whatever other bugs are hiding), as well as the other rooms of the house, including 3 bedrooms, the family room and laundry room downstairs. He put down granules along the perimeter of the house outside and baits on the four corners of the house outside to handle termites and other crawling bugs. He also put snap-traps in our shed to catch field mice.

A couple weeks later, came back to check traps and remove dead mice. Haven't had a problem since.
Description of Work: Discovered we had mice. They inspected the house and put several traps down where needed. Also identified gaps where the mouse could enter the house/garage and recommended closing those areas.

They had to cancel twice, due to employee illness and emergencies. We were disappointed in the delays, but they were apologetic and handled it well by offering us a discount for the services. The tech who did the work did a good job, was there when scheduled and they notified us, as promised, 30 minutes prior to their arrival.
Description of Work: We scheduled them to do a flea/tick carpet treatment on a home we had rented and were leaving due to purchasing our own home.

We haven't experienced any problems since so, there's no need to complain about the quality of service. My only complaint is that I really wish they would schedule an appointment before coming out. I have the plan so they basically just show up.
Description of Work: The first visit went very well. The exterminator set traps and was careful to check for and seal any areas in the home where pests my find its way inside. The second visit was oaky, but even after I told him that we were still experiencing an issue, but the technician didn't find it necessary attempt to seal any possible areas where pests might enter. He simply set traps and left.

I had a very good experience with American Pest. I had a mouse issue at my House and they came by for a evaluation. Their employee was on time and very professional. He was also very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He did not try and sell me on any unneeded services like some other exterminators have in the past. He evaluated the problem and told me exactly what needed to be done. He then offered to close off the entry point for the mice for a good price. Overall, very good experience and I would highly recommend American Pest.

il blemThe Ward professional was terrific. He came on time, called before he came, and was very sympatheticic to our problem. He took specimens back to his experts and thru email I was kept updated on the program. It turned out to be fungus gnats and I received detailed info on how what they were and how to treat in email and regular mail. I would definitely use again. I was not charged because the initial visit is free.
Description of Work: We had an infextation of bugs from a dog door and or doorway. They were also in my son's car. The guy from Ward came out and brought samples back to theiri specialist.s for identification.

I had some ants in my home during this year's dry summer and called Ward to have the issue treated. I purchased a semi-annual home service costing $125 per treatment. The first treatment was unsuccessful and Ward had to return to treat the issue again a couple of weeks later (the number of ants actually increased since their first treatment), which they performed under their 3 month warranty. I arrived home yesterday to a $125 invoice from Ward for the cost of the second home service with a note stating they had treated the exterior of our home and to call for interior treatment. I have three issues with this service. First, I received no notice from Ward that they were treating our home. This is customer service 101; the service provider calls the customer to request a time rather than dictate the service provider's schedule to the customer. Second, I have no issue with a semi-annual service but the schedule of these services is at the customer's discretion. Finally, when I called to have Ward reschedule the second installment of the contract to the spring the "service manager" hung up on me when I disputed their method of "scheduling" service contract visits.

RESPONSE:: The customer “signed” a semi-annual service agreement in June. He did not “purchase” the agreement since he chose to pay visit by visit, not the full year service up front. We do not hold a customer to a specified term, they can cancel service at any time, even with an agreement, without penalty. Addressing his three issues: - No notice of service: Our protocol is to send a postcard 2-3 weeks prior to the service, suggesting a date and time and asking for confirmation. If we don’t receive confirmation, we call listed phone numbers a week before the service date and the day before the service date reminding that we will be there. It’s obviously a waste of our techs’ time and our money to go to unconfirmed appointments, but having told a customer that we will be there, we go, confirmed or not. We are accustomed to having customers forget an appointment or have something come up in their day, so we will provide the exterior service and then reschedule for the interior. - Schedule of service: “Semi-annual” to our scheduling system is every 6 months. The service will automatically schedule every 6 months. Customers do request certain months for their service, or different frequencies, and we can accommodate those on our system. This customer had every right to stipulate what months he wanted service. We regret that timing became an issue after a thwarted visit, rather than before. - Hang up: To rectify the immediate issue, when the service manager tried to work with the customer to schedule a time to have the interior service completed, he stated he no longer wanted service. It is not our service representatives’ habit to disconnect calls without fully responding to customers and we apologize if that was his impression. The charge for the unwanted service has been removed. We appreciate this customer’s input and regret loosing his business, but more importantly, his goodwill.
