They came out and they did basically a check of our roof and knocked a couple of nails in and put some caulking around the chimney and some of the pvc pipes that come out of the roof and that's all. The guy was very courteous and nice.

Hard to schedule roof tune-up, but due to low volume/good weather got roof replacement done quickly and effectively in December. So far so good on the roof. No longer appears to be leaking, haven't been able to assess how well the new gutters and screen to prevent gutter drainage are doing, but supposedly under warranty for parts and supplies for 20 years.

Excellent! Their tech Representative Howard was terrific. I would use them anytime.

The most valuable thing this contractor did was give insight to the insulation in my attic. Due to his recommendation I added more insulation to my attic and it has prevented my pipes from freezing and has kept my home warmer. He also was able to close the area where the hurricane had lifted my roof. As an added bonus he saw all the lint dryer dust that was in my vent on the roof, said it was a fire hazard and removed it. I have a cape cod so the roof is very steep. A job I would not be able to do myself.

According to my husband, he was shown the pictures and the person they sent out was very professional and courteous.

Technician determined my roof did not need a "tune up" and there was no charge for it. He was professional in his manner. In addition he provided some suggestions for other concerns and possible changes. It was a pleasant experience. I would hire this company to replace my roof in the future.

They didn't initially reach out to me, I had to reach out to them. We scheduled for today. They called me yesterday to tell me that a truck broke down and that they needed to change the scheduled time for today. They then called me back today and told me that they weren't coming at all because of the weather.

The service was provided by Marc Burkett. He cleaned the gutters, and adjusted where needed to better capture water. Where one gutter needs to be replaced, Marc gave an estimate.

Provider was super responsive. Scheduling folks were very easy to work with and did a great job with follow up and sending follow up email. On day of the appointment the technician was over 2 hours late - there was no call or anything and it seems his time is booked entirely too tight. I do not blame the technician as he was very professional. The work was done as described in a quick and thorough manner. I was very happy with the outcome and would use them again (which I already did for a gutter cleaning) Only real 'con' is the punctuality issue

It went great, the serviceman was very good at his work and very professional. He was even nice enough to help me get my drone that was stuck on my next door neighbors' roof.

VERY GOOD WORK CREW: The crew that did the actually replacement and repair on the roof were great. They were efficient and skilled. The crew foreman Carlos was communicative and patient. He was always polite to me and as best I could tell was good to his crew. They ended up working after dark, yet they got all the trash they had generated picked up. MOSTLY HONEST SALESMAN: The salesman that sold us the roof was a different matter. Matthew Garick is energetic and likes making sales. I thought his sales pitch was mostly honest. I didn't get a sense that he was trying to sell us a roof that was "fancier"than we needed. I feel confident that we have a product that is fitting within the value of our home. SALESMAN, POOR FOLLOW THOUGH AND COMMUNICATION: While we were clear about our time limitations for the sales call, Matthew overstayed his welcome. He was late for a noon appointment (OK. heavy traffic) and stayed until 3:00 p.m! We finally left him sitting in his car out front of our house finishing up the paper work which he emailed. I found Matthew's follow-up on communication and scheduling to be lacking. After we had agreed to buying the roof, we were expecting an email of locations where we could see the actual roofs in order to pick the color. Three weeks passed with no response from Matthew, even though it was his idea to send us to these addresses to look at the roofs. He did apologize for the oversight, but this cavalier behavior continued through the project. The day of the roof replacement and repair was fraught with SEVERAL PROBLEMS: BAD START: I was told the crew would arrive at 8:30 a.m. They arrived at 6:30 a.m. Because I had been told another time, I wasn't dressed; in fact, I wasn't out of bed yet. Further, I had not had a chance to contain my dogs, and the dogs got out of the yard because this crew needed access to the whole yard. My dogs ran loose while I frantically dressed and retrieved them. All that was needed was the accurate time of arrival. Two hours especially in the morning like that is huge. CRITICAL MISTAKE: Matthew did not list the rafter repair on the work order. The crew foreman Carlos was visibly embarrassed that he did not have this information. Further, he was put in an awkward position because a homeowner was telling him something different from the company. When Carlos and I called Matthew, we discovered he was in the hospital awaiting a planned (not emergency) surgery. Matthew scheduled himself for surgery the previous Friday without arranging anyone to substitute for him while my roof was being installed. As a customer, I do not want to discuss the replacement of my roof with someone about to be anesthetized! Matthew's boss Ken was heralding Matthew's dedication to his job by taking a call at the hospital. I pointed out that this behavior was unfair to me as a customer and to Matthew, who clearly was ill and needed to take time to have this surgery and get well. As a customer, I want to be able to speak to someone at the company that is available to answer my questions and is not distracted by his own health concerns. LEGAL CONCERNS: By mid-afternoon the concerns about the rafter repair were cleared up. That's when code enforcement showed up and said the job had NOT be properly permitted. When I called Ken, an owner of American Home Contractors, he said that there were no permits required, which simply is not true. Both Prince George's county and the Town of Berwyn Heights require permits for the repair portion of the job. Ken and Matthew both agreed to get the necessary permits. At this writing (1/18/16), the permits have not been obtained. I am now responsible for this since I will be fined if they are not purchased. ONE LAST SCREW UP: The roofing crew did some damage to the metal covering to the rake board that had been repaired prior to the roof replacement. This is work that Matthew had ordered as part of the whole repair. Matthew said he would have the damage repaired. Two and half months later that repair has not happened. OVERALL ASSESSMENT: The permitting omission and the poor communication with the crew leaves me unwilling to hire this company again. We paid a premium to have the work done by professionals and these professionals fell short of my expectations, leaving us with damage still showing and permitting fees to pay. ,

Mr. Shires was very professional and informative. He assessed both the attic and the roof and discussed his findings. He also discussed the work he performed on the gutters, and showed pictures of everything assessed.

I was pleased with the promptness of the service repairman. I am pleased that the siding has been repaired, although not with the tools that were specified for the type of siding. The only complaint that I had was that it took too long for the service to be provided once the order was placed.

PLEASE READ MY UPDATE BELOW. I was very happy with the whole process. Everyone I dealt with was very nice and professional. The ladies I scheduled the appointment with were very friendly and knowledgeable. I was a bit disappointed to have to wait about a month but I understood it's a busy season. And it was worth the wait! They called a few days prior to confirm the appointment. Howard Shires arrived promptly at the scheduled time. He clearly explained what he needed to do. He was very knowledgeable and quick. He took excellent pictures to explain what he found both in the attic and on the roof. I was incredibly surprised how quickly he was able to find the issues and complete the required work. The entire process took about an hour. It was a very cold day but Howard was still in a great mood and was a genuine pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend them and have already referred a neighbor. UPDATE: AHC came 3 times and have still not been able to fix the leak. I called their office several times before they asked me to call their owner, Dave Silverstein. Dave and I exchanged voicemails over the past 2 weeks and now he just won't call me back. I now need to find another company and pay again for something I already paid AHC. They asked me to post a positive review to multiple sites (which I gladly did) and am very disappointed to not even get a return call.

Everyone we dealt with from American Home Contractors was skilled and professional. They are large enough to have good systems and personnel in place to handle every detail efficiently. I highly recommend them. We bought a deal for a gutter inspection and repair in June, and ACC sent someone out to do the job. While checking the attic for gutter leaks, he noticed that actually, we had several split rafters, and the rest were seriously bowed. The rafters were original to our 102 year old house. After completing the gutter work, he asked if we wanted him to send out their insurance claims expert. We said sure. Matt was great. I am extremely adverse to being "sold" on something, especially when I'm in a situation where professionals know more about a problem than I do, so my guard was up, but Matt was friendly, direct, and helpful. He inspected the attic/roof himself (I went with him), then took his time explaining everything, pausing for questions, giving options. He was very familiar with how the homeowners claim process would work, and offered advice. Even though I know everyone says to get multiple bids on such a big job, we signed a preliminary contract with him right away, in which he agreed to negotiate with our insurance company on our behalf to get the best settlement, if we agreed to hire ACC to do the job for whatever settlement amount he got. It was a total win/win, and I have zero regrets. Matt was present for the claims inspection and the engineer's inspection, advocating for details I would never have thought of. When we finally got our settlement, Matt came to the house and went through it line by line with us, to make sure we understood exactly what was being covered and what wasn't. We decided to add a few upgrades and paid for those out of pocket, but otherwise, we never had to deal with insurance or billing or any nickle-and-diming at all. When the actual job ran into a few unexpected problems requiring more supplies and crew, Matt told us not to worry, that he would work with the insurance company directly. Cost overruns came out of ACC's profit, not our pocket--they were true to their word about doing the job for whatever they could get our insurance company to pay. It was a huge relief!! The contractor and crew who replaced the roof were fantastic. It was a really tricky project from an engineering perspective, with some not-insignificant hazards for the crew. They were also not positive they could save our original dormer window, but when I said it was a priority for me, they made it happen. They just brought in more guys, and ended up building us an attic floor (so the guys could work safely) and double-sistering every rafter--again, at no additional cost or hassle to us. Amazingly, they completed the entire tear-down and re-build in 3 days, and left our yard and driveway cleaner than it was when they got there. Our new attic and roof are beautiful, up to code, and safe. I also want to mention that I am a woman, married to a woman, and we were treated with total respect by every single person we dealt with. I don't hesitate to recommend ACC.

Marc Burkett from American Home Contractors arrived on time, was very polite and carefully inspected all elements of my attic to include vents and ducts. He identified the existing insulation material as I requested and informed me that some additional insulation to meet code requirements would be helpful and that some minor wall-work trim to surround the attic access hatch might be useful but not immediately necessary. He was also able to relieve my concerns about any water leak issues. I was very satisfied with the process and scope of the inspection and would not hesitate to use this company again to perform any work that I might want to be done.

The appointment was cancelled a couple of times due to inclement weather so the company set up a Saturday appointment. Jeff arrived on time and immediately checked the attic, roof and gutters. He was able to fix a gutter cover that had come undone over time. He gave me honest assessments of the condition of the home and what needed to be done and what could wait. I will use this company in the future.

Howard Shries the roof technician was right on time and checked everything out to make sure there was no problem areas Took pictures of the attic and roof to show me what we might need down the road like insulation for the attic. He was very honest and trusting

Marc Burkett was great, professional and knowledgeable. Quick service and provided me a quote for some additional work. The quote he provided me was way lower and more realistic than a previous contractor I looked into. I recommend American Home Contractors!

Howard, technician, was excellent. On time, responsive and quick. Found a couple of small things - videoed inspection, showed video of what found. Provided excellent service. Would use service again.

The roof inspection and maintenance went well. This is the first Big Deal used where I didn't have to spend additional money outside the purchase price of the big deal. The technician, Marc Burkett, called on the scheduled day to inform me he was running a little late from his other job, but it was definitely within the window given for his arrival, so I didn't really consider that late. But, it demonstrated courtesy to the customer, and I appreciated the call. Marc was courteous and efficient. He provided a detailed report and explanation of any key issues and showed me the before and after pictures. He was knowledgeable and gave helpful recommendations.

The price was a bit more than I paid for simiiar services during the summer, but this was offset by a gift certificate toward future projects. The company responded promptly by phone to schedule an appointment. The phone called was followed by an email reminder and at least two phone call reminders. The technician, Marc B. called the morning of the appointment to ask if he could could arrive earlier and I agreed. Marc addressed me in a professional manner, performed his duties without delay, provided before and after photos, and furnished a written inspection report. I will call the company to get an estimate for needed repairs.

Marc arrived early after calling ahead to see if that was okay and performed the work. He was very professional and knowledgable and took time to thoroughly explain the results of the inspection.
