I would like to recommend Tri State Home Services. They have been very good in their home services I.e solar, heating, plumbing and other related services and I would recommend them. They worked with my heat pump. I last used their services last week and will be coming back this week to work on my heat pump. They are prompt in response and very professional. They are very knowledgeable and they know what they are doing plus they listen to what I have to say and they are very courteous. they repair job is still under warranty so they are not billing us for the job.

My technician, Matt, arrived promptly during the scheduled time frame to perform a tune up on an HVAC system that has seen better days. From the moment he arrived he was professional, courteous, and made every attempt to keep me informed throughout the entire process. He had a good sense of humor, a commitment to results, full transparency, a great sense of integrity and a clearly evident intrinsic dedication to the work he was performing. After walking me through the entire process, he answered all of my questions, regardless of how elementary some of them were. He presented me with multiple system options, however did not make any attempt to coerce my decision one way or the other. He showed enthusiasm in his work, and established my loyalty in Tri-State moving forward single-handed. Thanks again Matt!

We had another company (that we previously used) give us a quote and it seemed really high. Tristate was then recommended by a good friend of ours (his parents had used them for over 20 years). They were able to quickly schedule a sales person and technician to determine if the system was repairable and how much a new system would cost. We were giving 3 options at varying costs and given the details on the system. They also went over the tax credits and manufacturer incentives for each system and even filled out the rebate and tax credit forms for us. The install went well, they had everything up and running quickly. We had a few noise issues with the system and they were quick to have a technician out at no additional cost. Technicians and salesperson were all friendly.

Technician was prompt, courteous and did excellent work.

Excellent job, Ken Walters gave a competitive price and provided four models to choose from with varying levels of efficiency and options. The team that did the installation (sorry, forgot their names) were very professional, showed up on time, were very conscious of cleanliness, and installed a working heat pump in the coldest day of the year.

Like some other reviewers here, we woke up with no heat. We called tri-state, and they were out within hours. The problem was a dead fan in the air handler. It costed $659 to fix, which seemed a little high, but is reasonable given the emergency after-hours circumstances. The technician was very friendly, professional, and effective.

The employee came out, took down some numbers and never called me back. While the employee was there, he gave me very few options for the work they could provide.

Woke up this morning to a very cold house - the gas furnace had stopped working. It would attempt to come on but no air was coming thru the vents. I called Tri-State at around 7:30 in the morning. The receptionist was professional and empathetic to my situation but after checking didn't see availability for service today - she said she would call immediately if they had a cancellation and could schedule me tomorrow - I know she could hear in my voice the disappointment and I told her I would call around as the temperatures were not expected out of the 50's and the house wouldn't warm up and with a 8 temp drop the night before I didn't want the house to get below 55 - I told her I would keep her informed and if she would do the same I would appreciate it - well within 5 minutes, she called me back and said they would squeeze me in today - and low and behold the service tech arrive 4 hours later much to my delight. The technician was prompt and courteous and had the problem diagnosed quickly - he went over everything with the furnace and explained what had happened and what needed to be repaired. In the past, I have always had a service contract on my units but after purchasing this house simply hadn't gotten around to it. I inquired about the service contract and signed up for that on the spot which negated the cost of the call and got a discounted part as well as having the fall service check done - I am quite pleased with the professionalism, polite and informed personnel and the prompt service.

The initial installation went pretty well. I wanted them to remove the old, non-functioning, humidifier at the same time but they said that it wouldn't hurt to keep it. They explain what I needed to do to remove it. The whole install took a few hours. Unfortunately, during a very hold day the heater fuse burned out. And the heater kept turning on throughout the day, basically cycling on/off every 15min. The sent someone to the house two additional time. The last and final time a more senior person came and did a much more through check of the whole system and found that the heater itself wasn't setup correct which was contributing to the issue. After a gas adjustment it functioned very well. While the install wasn't perfect from day one, I got the sense they wanted to make it right and eventually they did.

There was an element of thier quote that has caused me some concern. In an attempt to save cost, they proposed reusing the tubing between the heat pump and fan coil unit. What they did not state in the proposal, was they would not warranty the system performance end to end with the reused line. They were responsive an provided an adder $300 for new lines. This solved my warrnaty concerns, however, this did undermine my trust a little. They showed up with the new line kit about 50 feet in length, and use about 10 feet of it and took the remaining 40 feet back with them. The scrap cost of the new copper they used, was more than $100 in my estimation. While I did permit them to do this without asking for compensation or taking the spare material, I am a little less than delighted with this outcome for an A rated company. They did provide a discount for Angie's list customers and They did permit me to salvage what I wanted from the job. On balance this makes this a wash. The workmanship on the job that I would observe, in fitting up equipment to ductwork, running the lines, straightness and appropriate bends was very good. They accomodated my request to keep cold air duct work off the utility room floor with a spacer without cost or complaint. They did a nice job cleaning up and setting things back the way they found them. While I would use them again, they will not become a sole source contractor for me.

I was extremely pleased with Tri-State and would use them again in a heartbeat. I had a major problem with a refrigerant leak in the existing line set. I live on the top floor of a three story condo building in Germantown. My existing lineset had a leak, however it would have cost a small fortune to replace the existing line, because it would have involved potentially ripping up flooring to get to the problem. I called Tri-State out to evaluate the problem. Bert, who I believe is the owner's son is the one who came out. He was extremely friendly and professional, and what really set him apart is that of all the AC companies that provided me with estimates, his was the only one that specified the exact amount in feet of copper lineset needed, he was also the only one who took the time to look in the attic space. He was also the only one who specified the exact number of pounds of refrigerant that would need to be filled, versus the other companies that just said they would "fill it up to the right level". Ultimately, it was decided that it would be best to run a new lineset up the side of the building, through the soffitt and into the attic space above. Bert's crew (which included a guy named Alex and one other that I cant rememnber) were awesome. It was clear that they knew what they were doing, and they also took the time to answer all of my stupid questions. They were on-site all day and even though it was brutally hot and took longer than expected (they ran into some issues when re-routing the line based on how the building was constructed), they never once complained or tried to use it as an excuse to charge me more. Tri-State's price was a bit higher than the other companies that gave me estimates, but I truly believe that you get what you pay for, and in this case, I got great service and great workmanship. My A/C is working perfectly now.

It was great. I would use them again.

I called on 7/9/2013 for service on a less than 4 year old unit. They called to say the service tech would be early (which was great). I looked out the door and there he was. Donald checked out the unit, the fan and discovered I had a leak in the coil. He explained EVERYTHING and made me feel very comfortable that he knew what he was doing. He made a few suggestions, then handed me the bill which was another great surprise. I would recommend Donald and Tri-State to everyone.

Installation was complicated. Contractor stayed well into the evening to finish the job. He was very dedicated and professional.

I called around Sat at 5:00 PM and left my number. I didn't really expect a callback until Monday, but around 7:00 or so I got a call. The service man came all the way from West Va. to Frederick Buckeystown in about an hour and fixed our AC, at the OT rate of course. The only person I thought who could pull themselves up through my little tiny crawl space to the attic would have been Vin Diesel. This guy was built as such and pulled himself up effortlessly using his fingertips. I thought good God Almighty. He was very friendly and described to us in great detail what he was doing. We were about ready to head off to a nearby hotel with our dogs for a few days, but around 9:30 we were all tucked in our own home. What a delightful experience.

The technician showed up within the four hour window that the company originally gave us. He was very professional and thorough explaining what he was doing and why parts needed to be replaced. I had told the person booking our appointment that I had an Angie's List coupon, but when the technician came he noticed it was for a service call not a maintenance call. However, he was really great and instead of just rejecting it outright, called to find out if he could accept the coupon anyway. They did accept it, which was very nice and makes us very likely to use them again. Good customer service!

On time. Professional. Explained what was being done and explained location of humidifier. Very professional

I wasn't personally home at the time of install but the product and service are excellent. I recommended them to a nieghbor who was very pleased with the workmanship, product and price.

Made the appointment, mentioned the Potomac Edison rebate program and the technician knew all about it when he came. He was on time and completed the service quickly. He filled out the rebate form for us. One of the best experiences I've had with HVAC folks.

my 25year old heat pump stopped working during a cold snap. Tri-State was able to send a person out within an hour of my initial call. the technician identified the problem as a broken blower fan. from some spare parts on his truck, he was able to temporarily rig up a working fan while the appropriate part was on order. a week later he returned to install the correct part. the response to my call was excellent, the technician was very clear in his explanation of the problem, and showed great ingenuity in the temporary fix, allowing our house to stay warm without using costly electric heaters. This is my first experience with this company andi was very satisfied with the experience.

The tech arrived promptly, looked at the space to install the system and went right to work. Start to finish it only took about an hour.

Very fast. Even called ahead of schedule to see if they could come earlier.

No complaints about the service, installation or hardware used. Everything was fine.
