Magic Mountain Chimney Sweeps

Purchased a fireplace insert in February of 2021. This past weekend the door was not shutting correctly. I called Mike Pinto and he responded within 20 minutes and had a service tech at my house within an hour. They fixed the issue within 10 minutes. Mike was awesome and so was the tech he sent. I can not be happier with our fireplace insert or Mike's professionalism and service.

WE had some chimney masonry work completed today by Carson and Ryan (one of the masonry teams for Magic Mountain). They did a great job and were very concerned about getting it right and getting cleaned up after the job. I would recommend Magic Mountain to friends and family.

After price negotiations -- company wanted to send workers from farther away from us than frederick and to charge us for the travel and to charge more since it was their busy season. Workers arrived late morning and ran out of flue liner early afternoon and had to wait two hours for resupply. They worked late but arrived late the next morning too, and worked until dark but said they could not come back for four days to finish the job leaving three rooms out of commission. We protested vigorously to the management and they agreed to send workers back the next day to finish. They worked hard and got it all done. They did a great job and our 200 year old chimneys are now safe watertight and drawing like a charm. We are very happy with the work and the skills of the workers. They left the job site clean and neat as well. We would use them again but would be very clear about timelines and basis of charges.

They wanted over $4k so needless to say that didn't happen.

They were very thorough, honest and informative.

Excellent job well done. They arrived on time, and thoroughly cleaned the entire vent. Cleaned up all debris when finished. Will definitely hire them again.

Jose arrived on time and was very professional. Our dryer vents to the roof and he went up to start from there. He discovered when our house was built (2 years ago) that the wrong kind of vent cap was used which was causing the vent to clog. Jose provided us with the pictures we needed to get this covered by our home builder and also gave us a rough estimate of the cost if we are unable to get the builder to take care of the issue. Overall, we are very happy with the service provided and the friendly, helpful, and professional staff.

This basic service, performed on April 15) turned into a 9-week ordeal because the guy (Jose) who vacuumed out our woodstove damaged the door gasket, leaving about half of it hanging, then closing the stove doors and leaving without saying a word about the damage. It was only after the two workers had left that I noticed the damage. (Side note: First thing Jose did was ask to use the bathroom, which ok'd, but found very unprofessional and creepy.) 4/16 - Called to report gasket problem and request it be fixed. Was given Jose's number and told to call him directly. 5/7 - After several unanswered messages and reschedulings, Jose came to look at what was left of the gasket. He took a piece of it in order to get the right size replacement, said he'd call "next week" and unapologetically left. 6/19 - After many excuses from Jose and even more unreturned calls, I call the office. Was given the runaround about the part not being received yet and the manager not being available for me to talk to. Was advised Jose would call me tomorrow, which of course he didn't. 6/25 - Called office, was put on hold, then, with apologies, was told that manager Mike Pinto was not available but would call me tomorrow. 6/26 - Pinto called saying he was sending "Steve" out on July 2 day to fix gasket. 7/2 - The original two guys, Mark & Jose showed up and Jose replaced the gasket while Mark talked my ear off on the benefits of chimney sweeping, etc., etc. I asked Mark if it was standard procedure during a chimney cleaning to pull out the stainless lining. When he told me "no," I asked Mark go up on the roof to check the chimney lining which I had seen Jose wrestling out of the chimney back in April. He checked and said it was fine. I'm not confident that's true. Before they left, I said I wanted to look at the new gasket. I could not open the double doors on the woodstove. With much force and noise, one of the guys got the doors open. Gasket looked like round rope type rather than flat (as the original) but it was in there. Getting the doors closed was difficult as well. Was told it was because the gasket has to mold then the doors will be fine. It's Aug. 1. The doors are not only not fine, one of them is loose and the last thing I want to do is have anyone from Magic Mountain touch anything. Not sure what I'm going to do now. But I am filing this review on Angie's so others might be spared the incompetent work and lousy customer service of this company.

I have used chimney. cleaning services in the past only to be disappointed with the lack if knowledge, professionalism and service. Most use a non-hepa vacuum that creates a cloud if soot in the room which ends up covering everything. Not Magic Mountain: from providing clean drop cloths to hepa compliant vacuums, photos if chimney cap and interior walls - these guys knew their work! I could not have been more pleased. Excellent work all around.

We were very happy with them. I thought it was a reasonable price. There was no problem. They did the work as I asked them. They cleaned up and everything worked fine. They did what they said they would do.

They were a little pricey. It cost quite a bit with the work that was performed. The team that they had sent out to do the chimney outside were dispatched even though there was a severe weather warning, torrential rain and high winds. They called their management and the management said, "Oh no, it's fine. The weather's fine. I don't see a problem." They put their employees at risk. Subsequently, the people had to call back and say, "We can't do it because the wind was just too high," so they had to come back the second day.

They showed up without a trash bag and asked for one. Then they got on the roof and took off the chimney cap which blew off a week after they left because they did not reattach it properly. They looked inside from the top but only cleaned the bottom 5' from inside. Then said we needed a stainless steel chimney liner but would not give a quote until they asked how much the houses in the neighborhood cost. Long story short, a second opinion was obtained and the chimney only needed to be cleaned which was supposed to have been done.

Arrived on time, left work area clean.

They were excellent and a big improvement over our last sweep who seemed mainly interested in pushing us to buy new fire bricks. The Magic Mountain crew showed up on time and were very professional. They did a thorough inspection and cleaning, answered all our questions, and left the place spotless. I'd recommend them to anybody.

Very well. I have used them for 10 years and they show up on time, work efficiently and the place cleaner than when they got there. Well priced and give a nice inspection report.

Jim showed up on time and was courteous and professional, even when my dog peed on his drop cloth. He did a thorough job cleaning the chimney and smoke pipe, and kept things neat and clean throughout. His basic inspection turned up some problems with my one-year-old masonry chimney, and he explained to me how I could correct the issues myself at next to no cost. I did the work, and my stove is working better than I believed possible. Thanks Jim!

MAGIC MOUNTAIN WAS WONDERFUL!!! WORDS CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I VALUED THEIR SERVICE. THEY WERE PROMPT, PUNCTUAL AND POLITE. THEY EVEN CLEANED UP THE DRYER FUZZ THAT BLANKETED MY LAWN. I WILL USE THEM AGAIN - DEFINITELY! THEY WERE VERY EFFICIENT AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY PERFORMED A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF MY CHIMNEY, RECOMMENDED AND DISCUSSED THE CLEANING PROCESS AND EXPLAINED THE VARIOUS TYPES OF WOOD THAT CAN BE BURNED SAFELY.
