From the first visit, Anya and Francisco were professional and really exhibited a wealth of knowledge. We experienced some initial glitches with various cabinets being suggested that ultimately did not work due to the the configuration of the plumbing. Some re-design was required on which they were happy to work with us. Francisco stayed with the design phase until we were all on the same page. Despite the fact that this caused some delay, the job really did get done in an amazingly efficient time. At every juncture where delays created problems for us, Francisco made sure that price adjustments were made to compensate. Antonio, in the implementation phase, was amazingly effective and especially creative in helping us solve some problems that seemed unsolvable and managed to produce a beautiful end result. The workmen were unfailingly polite and courteous and, when the occasional problem arose, it was dealt with swiftly, efficiently and pleasantly. Everyone was available immediately by cell phone. No time lost waiting for the company to respond. The best recommendation I can make is that this company is transparent. The tell you what it is going to cost and, when things change, they immediately revise the speadsheet/estimate and you know exactly where you are in the process. I have worked over the years with many contractors and I would recommend this company highly to anyone who asks. In fact, I've already recommended them! A real estate agent called the end result "drop dead gorgeous!" It doesn't get better than that. Since I did all the comparison shopping, don't bother...just call Home Breakthrough!
Description of Work: Completed gutted kitchen, replaced and relocated plumbing and electrical, installed flooring, cabinets, appliances, countertops, sink, garbage disposal. Home Breakthrough did a great job. At our first meeting they quickly put together a computer model of the proposed job and the next day sent us an estimate of the material and labor costs. The crew tore out the old cabinets, sink, and counter top. They installed the new cabinets, rewired the fixtures for the new appliances, did the plumbing for the new sink, coordinated installing of the counter top, and painted the walls. When they discovered that there was a drainage problem with the sink, they put in a device to correct it at no charge. The crew was courteous, punctual, and neat, working over one weekend to finish up the job. As a result of their good work we are going to use them for two additional projects.
Description of Work: Renovated our kitchen, to include new cabinets, new counter top, putting in new lighting, painting, and installing new appliances.

The HomeBreakthrough (HB) representative arrived at my home on time and provided an oral estimate that was soon followed by a written proposal. After brief negotiations, a contact with HB was executed. Next, I had an extensive phone conversation with Francisco, the Designer/Owner of HB, and then he accompanied me on a shopping trip for fixtures and supplies. Francisco was instrumental in helping me select neutral colors and the most functional fixtures for my small bathroom. His manner was persuasive, but not autocratic. A leak in my plumbing was discovered early in the renovation; however, HB?s workers quickly repaired the problem at a fair and reasonable price. My anxiety about the whole process was alleviated by Francisco?s frequent progress reports. Additionally, Francisco demonstrated his management skills by maintaining steady communication with his workers to ensure no detail was left to chance. The renovation was completed within the written contract performance period. The workers were professional and did a magnificent job of transforming my outdated, moldy bathroom into a modern, spa-like area. HB closed out the project by providing me with ?before? and ?after? digital photos, along with complimentary shower curtain hooks. My experience with HB was superior and I highly recommend the company to all interested parties.

We had a small glitch with the custom shower (not the fault of Home Breakthrough) install but overall things went great. We will be using Home Breakthrouhg again.
Description of Work: After interviewing about (5) contractors for remodeling our master bath we settled on Home Breakthrough LLC. The day I started interviewing I had (2) appointments scheduled almost back to back. The 1st appointment was a designer who came in and took pictures and measurements. He literally spent 15 minutes in my bathroom and asked very few questions. My 2nd appointment that same day was Mr. Francisco Victoriano w/Home Breakthrough who is also a designer came armed with a huge laptop (sort of a portfolio) of his work. I was most impressed. He also took pictures and measurements of our bathroom. He asked for a ballpark figure on how much we were budgeting for the project. He asked lots of questions about what sort of bath we wanted, what style, color, the types of materials we wanted etc. He even asked things that I had not even considered. He immediately got a good sense of what we were looking for in our bathroom. I gave him my ideas and showed him pictures of what I had in mind. He then pulled out that laptop with all sorts of bathrooms he had completed showing start to finish. Some were major renovations some were just adding special details and updating bathrooms. They all had various types of materials ranging from moderate to expensive. The more we talked the more I could see him envisioning what we had in mind for our bathroom. Needless to say I was sold when he showed me his work product. That is the mark of a true professional…he comes prepared. We did follow through and meet with the other contractors but they did not have the vision that Francisco had. He made the best presentation and showed us how we could get the most bathroom with our budget. After selecting tiles for the floor and wall, bath and wall fixtures, cabinet style and color etc the project was started. But before the project got underway Francisco showed us a 3D design on the layout of our bathroom. That was really great as it gave you an idea of how your bath would look as well as spacing. We had decided on the same footprint of our old bathroom but wanted to bump out the space for the shower making it bigger and also adding a seat in the shower. Mr. Antonio Victoriano who is Francisco’s brother was in charge of the actual work. He also is a professional and knows his craft. Our shower looks fantastic! Antonio did this beautiful design on the shower wall that looks great. Both Francisco and Antonio made suggestions to enhance the beauty of our bathroom. They are both creative and know what materials work and those that do not work. Antonio’s crew did a good job of cleaning up each and every day and did not waste time. They even called to see how things were going after the project was finished and they also guarantee their work for a year. Francisco was very helpful in helping us keep to our budget. We did made a few minor changes along the way and Home Breakthrough was easy to work with and agreeable to the changes. Before the project starts you get a detailed list of what your bathroom will cost down to the smallest item so if necessary you can make adjustments before the job starts. We recommend them highly and plan to use them again for our kitchen as well as another bath.

They did great work. They were great and it was great working with them. My experience with them was fantastic. This was my first time in doing any kind of home renovation project and I funded a little bit before I started. I worked with Mr. Francisco Victoriano who helped manage and design the work. His brother Mr. Antonio Victoriano was essentially there working everyday on the project. It was good. There was also another assistant involved in the project. It was a great experience working with the three of them. Mr. Francisco was a high energy guy who was very knowledgeable. They were very meticulous in measuring and being aware of the ideas on what could be done. I appreciated that. The process of working through from speaking with them, getting an estimate and working with them was very straight forward. They were absolutely fair. They strived hard to make sure that things were clear from the beginning. There were no problems in anything even when there were add-ons to the project and things like that. They helped me by going with me to look at flooring, countertops and different cabinetry options. They were fully available for that and there were no extra charges which they made clear upfront for as many places as I wanted to go and as much options that I wanted to look at. They would help me with that and accompany me if I wished which was great. I did not get that much but it was great. Their initial estimate was fully itemized as they knew that I was working within a budget. From the beginning I could see and decide if I wanted to add or take something. It was an easy estimate to work with. The actual design was very well done. They also gave me the option of either finding my own things like the cabinet or cabinetry and things like that or working with them for the people that worked with them for the countertops and cabinets. They said that it was fine if I wanted to find my own people but if I worked with the people that worked with them, they would take off 15% from their price. They were able to send me the easy to view, computer generation of what the layouts would look like that made it easy for me to sense as to how the finished kitchen might look. The actual work was very smooth. They were conscientious and courteous about my home. They totally cleaned up afterwards every day. There was minimal dust and they did a great job containing it. The work itself took a little less than two weeks which was what they said that it was going to take. It was very quick. They were very responsive afterwards even for the little questions. There were these little places in the inside of the cabinetry and I was wondering if I could do something in them. Mr. Antonio actually brought over this whole little arsenal supplies and showed me how to fix the scratches or wood stains on the cabinetry as I was not good at doing handy stuff on my own. He left those stuffs with me. It was very nice and I appreciated that. Everything has been working beautifully and has been looking beautifully. They were very subtle in the end and made sure that I was happy with their work. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I have used the services of Home Breakthrough LLC in June 2010 for renovating and remodeling my kitchen. They tore up the walls, floor, appliances and cabinetry. They did ceramic tile flooring and installed cabinets. They did cabinet customization in one area.

We had a FANTASTIC experience with Home Breakthrough, and would not hesitate to use them again or recommend the company to friends. The short version: Francisco (designer), and Antonio (project manager), were responsive, professional, and extremely respectful. We lived in the house while the remodel happened, and they were very very understanding of our needs, and went above and beyond the minimum required. The quality of the work was outstanding, we had absolutely no problems or misunderstandings, and got exactly what we expected in the end. Plus, the price was very reasonable. The whole story: We bought our 1950s style bungalow with the intention to immediately remodeling the kitchen. The previous kitchen was separated from the house by a full wall with a framed door. The floor was squeaky, there were no countertops to speak of, and a large closet from an adjoining bedroom jutted out into the space making it awkward and unusable. Plus, we still had a cabinet sink, a 40" 70s stove, and a pink Frigidaire refrigerator that broke the day we moved in. We called several companies to get estimates on the work, and easily decided to go with Home Breakthrough. We chose them because of their extremely professional demeanor, outstanding references, and particularly reasonable price--especially considering that the estimate included shopping and design services. After our first meeting, Francisco worked up a complete estimate in an Excel spreadsheet (very practical) as well as some 3D renderings of what the finished product would be. We made a few changes to the drawings, and then I called Francisco to let him know that we wanted to move forward. Later he came over to sign the contract, we went through each section piece by piece, talking about our expectations and budget. We wanted to make a few modifications, and Francisco was happy to write them in and sign his initials next to the changes. After we signed the contract, we set up a time to go shopping. We aren't particularly picky about colors or styles, so the process was very quick for us. We met Francisco at a store, and managed to pick out the floor, cabinets, countertop, and backsplash all in one day (albeit an 8 hour Saturday). Francisco was really patient through the whole process, and I'm sure he would have gone out with us multiple times if that's what we needed. The work started about a week later. At first it was just a couple guys every day. They started by hanging a plastic divider around the work area to contain the dust, and taping down heavy cardboard sheeting to protect our hardwood floors. They then proceeded with the demolition. By the end of the first week, our old kitchen was completely gone, the closet was demolished, and they stripped the floor to the joists. They also hauled away all the old appliances, cabinets, and other debris. The next 3 weeks were as painless as the first. There were at least 3 guys at the house every day, usually the same 3. I speak Spanish, so I had no problems communicating with the guys about the questions they had or just to say hello. I never tried to speak to them in English, so I'm not really sure how that would be. Regardless, Antonio, the project manager, speaks English very well and was frequently at the house, and always available on his cell phone. They were always willing to accommodate our needs (whether that was working on the weekend, or not), and very patient with our curious puppy. Throughout the process a few unexpected things did come up. There were pipes in the closet (Francisco warned us that was possible). The pipes from the sink were extremely corroded and clogged (we were warned about this also). Of course, there were also a few points when the crew needed our input on aesthetic issues. Francisco and Antonio were very responsive throughout, whether it be for letting us know about an issue, or for me to call him to ask a question. One of the best parts of the entire process was how easy it was to communicate with Home Breakthrough at any time. Another plus was the flexibility they demonstrated throughout. We changed out minds about a few things, wanted to add a few things, and when we came out under budget at the end of the project, we added a handful of random tasks. They were happy to accommodate all of our requests. The financial aspect was also very transparent and straightforward. We gave HB a lump sum check to buy the materials, based on the estimate that Francisco gave us at the beginning. At the end of the process, they provided us a PDF of all the receipts for materials, and we were able to see exactly where every dollar was spent. HB does charge a 15% service charge for materials they purchase for you, but given that we both work full time, we were happy to pay a little extra to have them take care of everything. They also get a substantial discount with some suppliers, so even though we paid a surcharge we still saved on the retail price. At the end of the project, Antonio and Francisco both touched base with us to make sure everything was right. For the first few days things went seamlessly, but about a week after completion a pipe from the garbage disposal burst and water leaked all over the floor. I called Francisco, and he sent Antonio over right away (even though he was having an evening out with his family). Antonio temporarily fixed the leaking right then, and came back the next day to fix it permanently. He also cut and stained a piece of plywood to fit in the bottom of the cabinet where there had been water damage. Overall, the experience was really great and easy. It's been about 2 months since the project was completed, and we haven't had any problems whatsoever. Even if we did, I know that I could called Francisco and he would happily come fix it, because they really are just that honest of a company. If you are looking to do a major renovation, I would heartily recommend Home Breakthrough for their professionalism, honesty, and the exceptional quality of their work.

After finding myself in the middle of a kitchen remodeling disaster (the contractor never returned after demo'ing our kitchen), I joined Angie's List to find a reputable contractor. After an intense search, I decided to contact Home Breakthrough. I spoke to the contractor, Francisco, who was very pleasant, and quickly filled him in on my situation. He directed me to his colleague, Ana, who scheduled a free estimate that he would provide. Francisco not only arrived at my house on time, but ahead of time. Once inside, he thoroughly examined the house and spent several hours carefully explaining what would be required to get things back on track. It was evident that he knew what he was talking about and he wasn't at all pushy. He quoted a price of about $15,000, which while it is large sum, was significantly lower than other estimates that I received to basically rebuild the back of my house. A few days after providing the estimate, Francisco contacted us to follow-up. During those few days, a family friend volunteered to do the work in our house, since the MORE THAN REASONABLE price Francisco quoted us was still more than we could afford. While we ended up not using Francisco, I appreciate his thorough inspection. I would highly recommend him based on his professionalism, responsiveness, general knowledge, and past work (he provided photos of previous jobs to give us an idea of what to expect).

They were wonderful!!! The crew worked EXTREMELY hard to get our job done as soon as possible. Sometimes they worked ten, twelve and fourteen hour days. It took about a month from start to finish and we added a lot of extra things to the job along the way. They were always cheerful and polite. Francisco and Anya and everyone were just great to work with. Francisco explains all aspects of the job in detail so that anyone can understand it. It came in a little over price, but that was our fault and they explained that we were going to be overpriced as we went along. Anya keeps fantastic records and lets you know when any new changes are made and how that will affect the overall price. For the amount of work that they put it, it was a deal. We are going to work with them again to do our bathroom. Just an absolute joy to work with. We highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Complete tear down and installation of a new kitchen and laundry room. Removal of faux beams and installation of recessed lighting in living room. We had drywall, plumbing, electrical, cabinet installation, flooring, backsplash, and installation of new appliances.

On the recommendation of a friend, we turned to HBLLC after a bad experience with the first contractor we tried for this work (who wasted months of our time drawing up plans that they wanted double their initial estimate to implement). With our first baby on the way, we were months behind schedule to start the work. Francisco, Anya and their crew turned out to be our saviors, coming up with a common-sense, hands-on, detailed approach to the project. They started work immediately and continued without interruption for four months until the project was completed (the day the baby came home from the hospital!). Francisco's creative flair and practical know-how enabled us to implement the open-plan attic master bedroom we had dreamed of but thought impossible, and made the basement bathroom the best in the house. Francisco made sure we were involved in every decision big and small -- from the dimensions of the closets to the bathroom and lighting fixtures -- and made recommendations on materials to save us money without sacrificing looks and quality. Anya and Francisco were meticulous in budgeting and documenting change orders while at the same time being flexible and delightful to work with. Two years later, we are still very pleased with the final results. Francisco returned promptly to correct minor issues inevitable with a major renovation, and we have used his crew since for unrelated minor repair work.
Description of Work: Complete updating and remodeling of unfinished basement, garage, and attic rooms, plus miscellaneous painting throughout house. Work involved waterproofing basement, installing sump pump, replacing plumbing, rewiring and electrical heavy-up, installation of new bathroom and utility room in basement, replacement of old HVAC on lower floors and installation of new HVAC system and ductwork in attic, drywall in all renovated spaces, removal of interior walls, structural reinforcement, and replacement of attic flooring, insulation, and windows.

My husband and I were first time home buyers and new only a little about the home remodeling process. I contacted many contractors for bids only two showed up. I was impressed by Leon at Home Breakthrough as he helped tell us what we could do to reach our goal of maximizing counter top and cabinet storage space and gave us some ideas. While I had thought Leon was the kitchen designer it turned out he was the salesman, so some of the things we had wanted to do that we thought were in the proposal turned out to not be realistic for the price we were quoted. We then had to meet with Fransisco who was the actual designer to re-discuss everything we thought we had settled with Leon. We had hoped our meeting with Fransisco would be to choose from samples of granite and cabinets to get moving on the design we had thought we had worked out with Leon ? this was not the case. While Fransisco was great about meeting us in the evening we had expected a quick meeting to look at samples and select counters and cabinets. Instead we spent two hours re explaining what we had discussed with Leon. We were told the breakfast bar with a built in bench would be too costly for staying in the budget we had wanted, so we conceded and gave up the bench to go with a traditional bar. It was our thought and was written in the final contract that this bar would have pull out trash and recycle barrels. However, at some point the dimensions for this bar cabinet were changed and the rollouts were no longer possible. Unfortunately, we did not realize this when looking at the drawings. It wasn?t until the cabinets were delivered and the counter top put on that I realized we did not get the size cabinet we had wanted. This was a huge disappointment to us as we had emphatically told Leon and Fransisco that we were ok having a large cabinet that would make the bar come out more into the living room (our living room is quite huge and we had expanded out part of the living room anyway to accommodate a kitchen table ? all of this was communicated to both Leon and Fransisco). Since it was written in the contract I did get rather upset and insist that a solution be figured out to at least give us a trash and recycle option. After a rather heated argument as to whose fault this was (mine for not catching it in the drawings, or his for not telling me and rewriting the contract) Fransisco did find a roll out trash and recycle option that would fit under our kitchen sink. To give him credit he purchased two roll outs (we used the second for dog food, the other fit both the recycle and the trash can) and did not charge us for them. While it did not solve the fact we were lacking a deep cabinet it did fulfil what was stated in our contract at no expense to us for materials. We did, however, have to purchase a pot and pan rack to hang from the ceiling and installation of this was not in the contract, but Fransisco did have it installed at no extra labor cost. To be honest we were very disappointed in the entire experience of the remodeling. It was extremely time consuming and both my husband and I work full-time and I?m also a part-time graduate student. Fransisco called us multiple times in the middle of our work day to ask questions about things we believed had already been settled (he did get better much later on and called us after our work hours). Towards the end we refused to answer calls and preferred to communicate with the office manager Anya via email (Anya was extremely well organized and helpful). My husband at Fransisco?s request took off work to meet with the counter top installers. We were told our presence was necessary either in person or via phone call and a computer at a later date to make decisions. However, it turned out that I had already made the decisions the granite installer was inquiring about when I went to the granite shop to select our stone and Fransisco knew about the decisions I had made because he was sitting next to me for the entire discussion. Fransisco was not present at the installation meeting with the granite company and it appeared he had passed off the task of communicating how we wanted the granite cut and installed to my husband who lost two hours of his work day. On the positive side, the workmanship appears to be great and our kitchen is beautiful. We did enjoy Carlos, who with one other guy did all of the work (minus the countertop installation ? the granite company did this). While Carlos did not speak much English he was always really polite, did excellent work and even helped us carry some of the items we had when were moving in to our condo (we had to move in to our new condo while they were still working because they were unable to start the project when we had hoped). There were some other missteps along the way (Fransisco had to come out to remeasure because he failed to measure the height of the cabinets, one set of cabinets ordered was incorrect, but they were able to get a new set and install them). I do think we paid too much for our small kitchen and since Home Breakthrough negotiates the prices with the materials on your behalf and makes a 20% markup for this added convenience they really have no incentive to ensure you receive the lowest price as well as best quality. They also charge this markup on their construction materials. We did buy many of the smaller things ourselves to avoid this 20% charge (we bought our faucet, garbage disposal, lights and other detail fixtures). In addition to the remedies of the rollout trash and the installation of the pot rack, we were credited some money on our final bill because of the miscommunication and challenges we had. I don?t know that I can say I would never work with this company again as it seems many contractors in this area are very unreliable, but I certainly would call around again to interview and get estimates from others on a home remodeling project. The craftsmanship was great, but the communication part was very time consuming and frustrating. If you choose this company I would certainly ensure that every decision you make is in writing, including all dimensions of cabinets and any other details that may seem small, but can lead to frustrations and miscommunication down the line, make a copy of your notes for Fransisco or send them electronically to Anya so that you have an accurate record of decisions.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel: knock down wall, install wiring for new lighting, select and install new cabinets and granite counter top, purchase and install new kitchen tile floor and back splash, reconnect existing and new appliances.

We really wanted to write to tell you just how impressed we were with Home Breakthrough's remodeling job. It was such an "under taking" to redo both the kitchen and the bathroom (especially when they were covered with 4 layers of old paint). My wife is an architect and we called six contractors and received six different bids. Ultimately, I ended up going with Home Breakthrough's Remodeling based on a recommendation from references and also the fact that they have a blog of pictures to show your previous remodeling projects. I am a former U.S. Marine and I have to admit that I was so impressed with your professionalism in character, in workmanship and attention to detail. I highly recommend your services to anyone who has a remodel job. Please feel free to give out our home number as a reference. My wife and I are both very pleased with the end results. It is hard to find honest, hard working, Christian companies in this day and time. I pray that God blesses your business for all of your hard work.
Description of Work: A complete renovation of both our bathroom and our kitchen. Ours is a nice 1968 Potomac house with lots of tress around the property. We wanted new windows, sliding doors, floor extensions and a “high tech” bath tub with a new illumination system. We were very pleased with the work and with the time it took to finish the job. Mr. Victoriano and the personnel of his company were very easy to talk to and willing to attempt almost anything I asked him to do. His crew really accomplished everything we wanted and even more. They finished the work in just a few days and were very diligent to get the work done on time. Overall we were very well pleased with the work and especially with the cost. Prices were exceptionally reasonable. I would recommend Home Breakthrough's remodeling to anyone, in fact we are now planning on having them do another job soon.

Although I knew the basics of what I wanted, I hadn't quite made up my mind about everything. Francisco, the designer, was extremely helpful with suggestions and always discussed the price with me. He made recommendations about what would look best and the quality of materials, and almost always offered more than one option. The bathroom was completely gutted, a wall removed, plumbing and electrical re-routed. They removed the existing bathtub and replaced it with a porcelain tile walk-in shower. There was a lot of work involved and the cost of the labor seemed reasonable to me considering the level of effort. There was a lot of attention to detail and, I felt, a genuine commitment to performing quality work. I did think this project cost more than I had intended it to, but there were some unexpected plumbing costs. The vanity was very expensive and if I had it to do over again, I would spend more time researching a less expensive option. The work was done completely to my satisfaction, the tile work is beautiful, the cleanup was thorough, the warranty is excellent, and I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

The work took about 10 days to complete. the team was clean and respectful throughout the process. Other problems were found once the demo was complete, but the workers made sure the original issues were corrected from the ground up. Very thorough.
Description of Work: Completely remodeled a small bathroom which was original to the house. They understood out goal was not to create a spa but a functional and attractive space. the designer worked with our budget and was very vocal about when and why costs would change.

Overall, it went very well. Leon was clearly experienced, and was willing to listen to our design ideas while giving some suggestions of his own. Although we did not end up selecting Home Breakthrough, we would definitely consider them again for another project.

They were great. They will be sending me a written estimate in the future. It's a kitchen from the 1970's. The appliances are sort of working, but things are falling apart. They were forthcoming about what they would do and how long it would take. Setting up the appointment was easy, and they were on time. They took a lot of time to listen to what my budget was and what I was interested in doing. They were very honest about what could be done within my budget, and they had some really good ideas.

I cannot say enough about how great it was to work with this company. Francisco and Anya came for the initial visit, listened to our ideas, had a number of suggestions for us to consider, showed us numerous photos on their laptop of their previous work and were extremely helpful throughout the design phase. They gave good feedback to some of our ideas and were respectful of our goal. They worked with us to keep the price down by letting us order some materials ourselves on the internet but also helped us work with their dealers, particularly for the tile. They spent numerous hours during the planning phase and we had a complete budget before we began work. They started on time, the main installer was a master craftsman, cleaned up every day before leaving, and did excellent work. And to top it off, they had a house cleaner come in when the job was completed to clean the entire house at no additional cost. We came in a little over budget because we choose more expensive tiles but otherwise we paid them exactly what they said it would cost. We got copies of all bills at the end so there was complete transparency and no mystery of where charges came from. We are extremely happy with our new bathroom and it has added great value to our home for future sale. If you are looking for a company that will work with your needs, deliver exactly what they promise and always have a smile and a laugh about whatever issue you raise, hire this one.
Description of Work: We had our bathroom completely remodeled. In addition, we had plumbing work to replace old cast iron waste lines under the bathroom and installed a new window. They took the room down to the studs getting rid of the old wrap-around plastic shower/tube combo that hid the original window, replaced the old floor, corrected a couple electrical problems someone left from before, laid new floor and wall tile, new lighting, sink, toilet and medicine cabinet.

I got the quote just the other day. They claimed they had faxed it earlier, but it came through the other day. I am going to be totally upfront. I have not checked their references. They gave me a long list of references. I haven't checked because I took several quotes and I am comparing them and I haven't made a decision. There is one thing about them. I look at my caller ID when the phone rings and if it is their number, I don't answer. They are bugging me a lot. That just turned me off. If they are bothering me that much just trying to get an answer from me, I am talking about calls several times a day, I don't think I can work with anybody even if they were at the top of the list. They called me too much to the point that I might not even bother with them. He was here for about 4-5 hours. He answered the questions and raised more. Their general punctuality was good. Professionalism, when he was here and talking about the project, was fine. It was the after that is getting to me.

We are getting ready to sell our condo, and our real estate agent had advised us on re-doing the kitchen and bath prior to the sale. We got estimates from a number of companies. Home Breakthrough had a great price, and also came highly recommended by 3 different neighbors in the condo building. I know and trust my neighbors, and could see the work that they had done. I also knew that because Home Breakthrough had worked in my condo building, they understood the management company's requirements, the plumbing system, the small unit size, and the strange wall angles that are found in most units, making new cabinet construction a challenge. Although everything was delayed due to the huge snowstorm, Home Breakthrough began the work as soon as they safely could (a few days late), but worked overtime to finish as close to the estimated end date as possible. They also took care of and took responsibility for any problems, such as when one wrong-sized cabinet showed up. They ordered the new one and only charged me for the cabinet used, not for both. They lived up to their contract, even when it cost them money. Francisco, the designer, was very helpful and extremely accessible by e-mail and phone, since I was choosing the design, cabinets, countertop colors, and tile from afar - my home in Charlottesville. He was a wealth of information about quality, colors, and various options for accessories. He told me when something was necessary, in his opinion, and what items were not worth the money. Antonio supervised the work and made sure everything went as planned. Anna was timely and informative in her responses to my e-mails about pricing and quotes - the cabinet price quote even went down after I made my final selection! Because of the snow and the resulting lack of outdoor sidewalk space, the prep work (sawing, sanding, mixing, etc.) had to be done in the condo itself, creating a lot of dust. However, they sent a great cleaning staff to the condo after most work was done. They went above and beyond, washing each dish, utensil, and cup in the bathroom sink by hand since the kitchen sink wasn't hooked up yet. After hearing other people's horror stories, I can't believe the renovation went so smoothly. From actual start to finish, the whole process took only 2 weeks! One week was spent partially kitchenless while waiting for the granite counters to be cut and installed, but the unit had a completed bath, plus fridge, microwave, and stove during that time. The bathroom transformation is incredible - the tile work and painting is beautiful. The kitchen is also incredible - the cabinets look great, and provide more storage than I had before. They also moved a light fixture to accommodate a new cabinet door when we discovered that the door didn't fully open. I can't recommend Home Breakthrough more highly.
Description of Work: Home Breakthrough completely re-did the kitchen and bathroom in my one-bedroom condo in Mount Pleasant, DC. This included design of both spaces, cabinets, co-ordination of granite counter installation, re-wiring, plumbing, ceramic tile and new bathtub installation, painting, and mounting of new mirrors, light fixtures, towel bars, etc. I was responsible for purchasing and coordinating new appliance delivery, and also for getting the paint.

We live in a 22 year old townhouse and have two and a half bathrooms. We always take showers rather than baths so we wanted to replace the tub/shower in our master bathroom with a walk-in shower, leaving our other full bathroom with the lone tub in the house. We weren't comfortable doing this renovation on our own so we had three contractors (all on Angie's List) come and quote on the job. Our budget was pretty low and we were comfortable with two of the contractors' quotes but felt that Home Breakthrough's designer (Francisco) appeared more concerned with ensuring we got exactly what we wanted despite our constrained budget. Checking the references cinched the deal because everyone we contacted was thoroughly pleased with the job that Home Breakthrough had done on their bathrooms. The job took about two and a half weeks to complete, just as Francisco had estimated. This was during the worst of this winter's snowstorms, but the team made up for those lost days by working Saturday and Sunday. We are very pleased with the result. Francisco's design choices were excellent and the Home Breakthrough team has clearly benefited from their years of experience renovating bathrooms. The two-man team that completed the work took great care to ensure that the house was kept as clean as possible. Dust is always a problem on a job like this, but they completely sealed off the rest of the house from the work area with plastic sheeting taped to the walls, floors, and ceiling. The floors in the work area and the pathway to the front door, including the central staircase, was completely covered with hardboard to keep the area clean and free of damage. The work was very professionally done, with the floor tile perfectly aligned with the new vanity and the shower curb and every grout line having a consistent width. Home Breakthrough's attention to detail for every aspect of the work was excellent and very much appreciated. If you're thinking about renovating your bathroom, this company should be at the top of the list that you contact.

We are delighted with both the service and the quality of the work. Francisco and Antonio were great, Anya (in the office) was efficient and really worked to find a replacement toilet for us when the one we originally ordered could not be found anywhere on the eastern seaboard, and Roberto, who did the actual work with help from Carlos, was excellent. The work area was cleaned at the end of every day, and with the exception of one problem beyond their control (see above), the project was completed on time. We went over our original budget, but half of the overage was because we decided to expand the bathroom (the other was because we chose more expensive materials than originally planned). Francisco provided good ideas and helped in deciding about tile selection, granite choices, and material finishes. I would recommend the entire group to anyone who wanted first-rate work. We're saving to have our kitchen redone by them! Great service and excellent work....
Description of Work: HBLLC gutted the upstairs bathroom in our 1948 house, put in extra support beams, redid a lot of the plumbing lines, pushed back a wall to enlarge the bathroom, and completely refurbished the room.

The experience from beginning to end was very seamless. We could not have had better people involved in completely redesigning both of our upstairs bathrooms. Leon was very courteous in his initial presentation and did not give us a "high pressure" sales pitch like a couple of other companies. And price was much less than the competitors. Francisco was also an integral part of the process in helping us design our bathrooms. He went out shopping with us for several hours and gave us valuable advice on what and what was not best to invest in. Antonio and his crew were very diligent workers and worked both Saturdays and Sundays! It was incredible that both of our dream bathrooms were completed in exactly two weeks which was a few days ahead of projection. What was really impressive was that the work was thorough and they even patched up a couple of holes in our dining room ceiling where we had old leaks. No questions asked! We even had maid service after the fact! Melissa even washed a dish or two in our kitchen sink. Francisco and Anya have been there with us every step of the way eagerly addressing any questions we had. A grade 'A" operation. I have already recommended Home Breakthrough to a neighbor and a co-worker. We will definitely use them when we are ready to remodel our kitchen in a few years.
Description of Work: Both my master bathroom and hallway bathroom were completely redesigned. All of the original equipment (tub, shower, tiles, drywall, floorboard etc) were completely demolished with all new furnishings put in. The shower in our master bathroom was re-framed to make for an extra 8"-10" of room. All new light fixtures were put in along with new ceiling fans and light. Recessed lighting was put in over the tub in the hallway bath (with dimmer) and also over the shower in the master bath. New floorboard was put in along with some re-framing of both bathrooms. New medicine cabinets and separate storage cabinets were put into both bathrooms. New drywall was also installed. Both bathrooms were painted. Two holes in our dining room ceiling where there were previous leaks were covered up.

The project went extremely well and was completed in less than one month. Francisco, the designer, assisted us in making decisions and shopping for everything. We were kept informed at all times as the project progressed. The contractors worked 6-day weeks and often more than 10 hours per day. They were reliable, trustworthy and polite, and did excellent work. The flooring in the house was covered with cardboard to protect it during the project, and plastic sheeting was hung to minimize dust. In addition, the contractors cleaned every day before they left. We highly recommend Home Breakthrough and certainly will use them again for any future remodeling projects. We are extremely pleased with our new bathrooms.

They were great. They showed up when they said they would, worked long and hard, even on weekends, and finished the job well within the time quoted. Francisco is extremely good with design; he can tell what colors and materials will go best together and he came up with some really good ideas for our shower. He's invaluable as a shop-along companion. Both, Francisco and Antonio, were always available by phone for questions and concerns and were constantly checking in on our perception of how the project was going. They always asked if we had any problems with any aspect of the job as we went along.
Description of Work: We had a master bathroom with a one-sink vanity with a mirror and Hollywood-dressing-table bulbs over it, a tall built-in cabinet, a whirlpool tub, a toilet and a stall shower. The floor of the bathroom and the shower were both made of small white tiles and there were larger white tiles around the tub and shower. They gutted the entire master bathroom, removing all fixtures, cabinets, tiles, flooring and walls. They started from scratch and put in cabinetry where the useless tub was, a double sink where the sink and cabinet were, a large tiled floor in the arrangement I requested, a pocket door (which involved removing a wall between the bathroom and the bedroom), an artfully tiled stall shower with a design along the walls and a recessed, tiled shelf, three shower head options, plus installed two light fixtures over the sinks, recessed lighting in the ceiling, a combination heater/vent/light/night light fixture, painted the bathroom according to my specifications, put in dimmer switches for all the light fixtures, did the considerable extra carpentry work required for one of the cabinets that could not be ordered the way I wanted it, did all necessary electrical and plumbing work and cleaned up after themselves every night. They also had the first floor of my house thoroughly cleaned by a maid service after the entire job was completed.

After selecting Home Breakthrough LLC to do my remodeling projects, the company's designer created 3 dimensional renderings of both the bathroom and kitchen, that way I could see the finished project before any work had been done. During the construction period, the crew was very careful about dust control, where they covered all my furniture with plastic to protect it. The crew came to work on a time that I agreed to with the project manager, and every day they left the work area clean. The project was completed in a timely manner, and after it was finished, they sent over a cleaning service to clean up my whole house free of charge.
Description of Work: They did a complete kitchen and bathroom remodel for me. I had an outdated kitchen and bathroom that needed a fresh new look, and after reviewing different contractors I finally selected Home Breakthrough LLC because they had impressive references, examples of their previous work and had an outstanding Better Business Bureau report, with not a single complaint since they have been in business. Their price was also fair for the amount of work to be performed. For my bathroom, they removed all the old fixtures and tiles, and replaced them with brand new bathroom fixtures, faucets and tiles that I selected. In my kitchen they removed all the old cabinets and countertops and installed the cabinets, appliances and countertops that I selected with the company's designer.
